    BLT Crispy Chicken Sandwich
    Christine M.

GB Eats is a great little spot in Great Barrington for brunch or lunch. The service is friendly, and we made this a little stop along our way to North Adams. Great Barrington is a quaint town with plenty of shops and restaurants. We ordered the BLT and the crispy chicken sandwich, and both were excellent. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

When we stopped in Great Barrington for some shopping, we decided to grab a quick lunch at GB Eats. We didn't have to wait for a table for 3, but the restaurant was busy with diners around 2pm. We ordered the soup of the day - broccoli cheddar, the schnitzel bacon jam sandwich, the grilled vegetable salad, and a burger. Everything we ordered was good, but nothing was a standout. The schnitzel sandwich was tasty, but I wish the bacon jam was a little sweeter, less tangy. The grilled veg salad was good but not delicious. For handcut fries, I thought they were very good and crispy. Overall, this is a nice place to grab a bite in Great Barrington, but not a life changing lunch.

Such a lovely place and funky atmosphere. Staff is super friendly and attentive. Service was quick especially for a busy Saturday morning. A great assortment of teas and coffees. My husband had an iced mocha which had chunks of beautiful dark chocolate in it. Not too sweet. I had a London Fog which was the best I've ever had. My custom omelette was perfectly cooked with such good toast! I love that they offer healthy salad option to home fries although I saw on another table the home fries look amazing. My husband got the house- made corned beef has with fried eggs on top. He was very pleased. We will surely come again.

We came in for brunch around 10am on a weekend morning and had no problem getting a seat. The server was super friendly and the food came out quick. I ordered a create your own omelette with fresh avocado and cheddar cheese. The sourdough toast was delicious. My husband had a chicken biscuit and gravy bowl that was a perfect size for breakfast. Cute spot and great service. Will definitely be making a few trips here.

This place didn't disappoint! After a search for breakfast in the area and reading the reviews, we decided to stop and we all enjoyed the service and ambiance. After a short wait which gave us the time to look at the menu, we were seated and ordered. Service was quick and friendly. I had the potato eggs Benedict , my daughter savored the French toast with syrup, My husband enjoyed the Shakshuka and our son devoured the fried chicken and waffle. We previously had coffee at the hotel so we opted for water and fresh squeezed orange juice. We would definitely love to return!

I came here for breakfast and ordered the breakfast croissant in whole wheat toast without bacon. It came with bacon so had to wait for a new order. The breakfast sandwich was good. It's a nice local spot. You have to show up early or there will probably be a wait on the weekends. We will definitely be back.

I'm picky about restaurant food because I love cooking and usually prefer my own meals. When I do go out, I want something that's either different or at least as good as what I make at home--and this place blows me away every time. Their burgers easily surpass any I've ever made myself. It's consistently as good as every other time I've gone. It's a small spot, but the staff is warm and welcoming, and the prices are more than fair. I honestly wish I had shared this review sooner--I've probably recommended them to at least 20 people already. Part of me wants to keep it a hidden gem, but they absolutely deserve all the business they can get. A++++

I had a very hard time deciding what to order so that's always a good sign. I got the pork schnitzel sandwich with bacon jam and truffle fries while my husband got the turkey club with sweet potatoes fries. We also both had a Bloody Mary. Everything was delicious! And on top of that, it's cute and hip and right on the Main Street so it's a good place for people watching if you get a window seat. I'm not from the area but if I'm nearby again, I'd love to try a latte and a breakfast item.

The view out the window. We are new to the area and views like this take my breath away

Took a chance and tried this place and I'm so glad we did! We've been back many times since. Great decaf, which is hard to find and the potato cake Benedict is amazing!

Staff is very nice and helpful! Definitely a lovely, vibrant atmosphere. Half of the food is AMAZING, and the other half are good tasting meals but nothing to write home about. I do wish I could try everything on the menu. I've been twice and was very satisfied with everything we ordered. I highly recommend the polenta bowl and the sweet potato fries.

I loved the food at GB eats! Came here for a quick lunch on a Tuesday afternoon around 1:00. Not crowded and food came very fast. Menu looked great, was hard choosing what to order because everything sounded so good! Lots of healthy options which I really appreciated. They had all day breakfast as well as lunch and dinner. Cute interior. Great drink menu too. Service was excellent, friendly employees. Would recommend!

It coincidentally happened to be prime leaf peeping weekend (which isnt why we went away) but it was Sunday am, we wanted to eat somewhere that wasnt Dunks, so I found this place on Yelp and it looked super cute, so we drove 30*ish minutes to get here. We arrive & Im thinking Oh No, this isnt going to be great, we get in line and are 3rd in line. Well 15 mins has passed and no one has even acknowledged the people in front of us or anyone... Now to set the scene for anyone who hasnt been here, its like walking into a time warp home. Its not like a restaurant, this is literally a home. There is stuff EVERYWHERE, its like a yard sale, dust, books, no 2 tables, place settings, mugs, plates or anything is the same on all the tables, and the woman who was working god bless her had to be easily 75... She was running the food, cleaning & clearing the tables and this place was packed. We ended up talking to the family in front of us in line (who were regulars and in their 90s) and they said they come every weekend, so the woman who works there pulls them out of line and seats them ahead of the people in front of them (they were ok with that) but they had told us how you can buy anything in the place, if you liked your table setting you can buy it. There was so much old rustic decor, the place is friggin adorable, but you can buy it all! I just continued to walk around the place & just investigate all the things. Well 45 mins later we were finally seated and magically a few more staff people arrived to help her out, the whole experience from waiting to be seated, to ordering to actually getting the food and check was easily 2+ hours. The food I expected to then be just meh, but it wasnt IT WAS GOOD, Craig the owner chef was literally in the kitchen ALONE... and lives up stairs too, but you could see him hustling around and just handling all of it. Salad at breakfast at first to me seemed so off, but OMG was it good. All the food was just fresh and really good! This was one of those super memorable experiences, the hubby wouldnt let me buy anything and that was ok, but if we are ever back in the area we are definitely stopping in again! Dont mind the wait (which Im told isnt normally that long - I think it was all the leaf peeping tourists)

A dining experience chosen somewhat casually from a quick perusal of options online is a risky proposition, especially for an important date. Thankfully, this proved to be a "hit it out of the park" selection. The first hint: the person booking my phone reservation was cheerful, friendly, and efficient. Then, on arriving, the young folks shuttling customers in golf carts from the parking area to the restaurant were everything you hope young people will be: eager, interested, and very well-trained. Then, when I told the concierge that this was an anniversary dinner, he grew visibly animated; as a result, a champagne toast was brought to our table (the concierge having thoughtfully asked if we were alcohol friendly previously), on the house. When the appetizers arrived, I was so impressed that I almost regretted having ordered an entree: an improptu tasting menu made up of four or five appetizers would have been heaven (in fact, after the meal, I suggested that management put that option on the menu - which, it turns out, they had been considering. The entrees didn't disappoint, however, being among the best I've ever had in the Berkshires. In fact, in 35 years of Manhattan dining, I have only rarely enjoyed dishes as much as I enjoyed these. Dessert and espresso were in line with the meal: first rate. I spent some time reflecting my experience back to management, who listened attentively and with interest (a distinction in itself). My main point was the strong "vertical integration" that I sensed: every level of service and preparation was excellent, from the reservationist, to the valets, to the concierge, to the waitstaff, to middle management, on up to the star of the show, the chef. Although everybody eagerly acknowkedged that the chef was incomparable, I never got the sense that any level of service had been made to feel less than crucial to the dining experience. In short, besides being a great dining experience, this was a triumph of management, by which I mean old-fashioned management who make everybody feel valued and noticed. Kudos!

Finally: Fish croquettes came out with our appetizers - Scallops gratin, beet orange radicchio salad, asparagus with hazelnut vinaigrette. Found a fish bone in the croquette ... but other wise everything was delicious. Salad was small - could have used more beets and oranges and not be plated in a bowl. Then we ordered three entrees: black bass, chicken and the steak preparation. All entrees were wonderful and well seasoned. The bass was sadly dry and overcooked tho. And the chicken in tarragon leek jus was truly special - but the plate felt empty. Two broccolini were a bit lonely. The juicy chicken with crispy chicken skin was our favorite bite. The steak atop sugar snap peas and tallow fried potatoes - with an herbaceous chimichuri type sauce. It was a complete entree. Chocolate pudding for dessert was yum Finding a gem like this in the Berkshires is not easy. We will be back but we would like our food to arrive sooner please

We wanted to try a new place for lunch and ended up at Marjoram And Roux for a very nice lunch, It has a front showcasw with baked goods and prepared salads and a big roll of butcher paper on the wall where the day's specials are listed. We ordered at the front counter, grabbed a table in the modestly sized dining room and our two sandwiched came out very fast. My wife ordered a Prosciutto Baguette with arugula, red pepper tapenade, and Buffalo Mozzarella with an aged balsamic dressing for $16. I ordered a Pita Sadwich with White Bean Hummus, Beets, Olives, Pickled Onions, and Arugula for $12. Both sandwiches were served with a small salad of local greens. I loved my sandwich. The pillowy softness of the pita, the smooth velvety texture of the hummus, the sweetness of the beets, and the saltiness of the olives all combined for one fantastic sandwich. Portion size was generous, and since we knew we'd be stopping down the street for ice cream, we each took home half of our lunch. Pricing was reasonable at just around $30 after tax and before tip. What else is on the menu besides Bagels?…read more I saw a lot of Jewish neighborhood items like bialys, smoked salmon, egg creams. whitefish salad, baked salmon salad, corned beef, matzoh ball soup, pastrami, chopped chicken liver, rugelach, and brisket among the seemingly hundreds of other choices. Simply put, Great Barrington Bagel is one fantastic place of fantastic choices. Let's start with their bagels, I mean after all, that's the namesake of the place. They make them the traditional NYC way - boiled and then baked in a 500-degree oven for a dense crust and chewy interior. How many kinds of bagels do they make? How about 21, plus spinoff types like bialys and flagels (flat crusty bagels). Oh, and do you want cream cheese on top of that particular bagel you had to agonizingly choose among? Well, be prepared for another tough choice, because GBBC has 17 flavors of cream cheeses. I ordered a cup of Chicken Noodle Soup with Matzoh Ball ($4.75) and a BLT on a jalapeno bagel ($8.50). Their indoor tables are still not available, but there were maybe six big picnic tables with benches outside. Everything was occupied when we walked outside with our food, including one table where an unsmiling matronly type nursing a cup of Dunkin Donuts informed us in no uncertain terms that she was holding that table for her friends' arrival, and she'd rather not share her precious table with us. Anyway, we eventually found a table and enjoyed our lunch. My soup was great! Lots of big carrot chunks, delicious tender chicken chunks, and a very good matzoh ball, served with bagel chips. The BLT had quite a bit of perfectly cooked Hickory Smoked Bacon. I had my Jalapeno bagel toasted. It was served with a sour pickle spear and was a real good combination of tastes and textures. My only quibble was the Jalapeno Bagel itself, it just wasn't very "jalapeno-y" to me. But that was just a teeny tiny blip on the day's radar. Well, that and the guardian of the bench, who was still sitting there by herself as we cleaned up our trash and left. As I was leaving, I looked her in the eyes and said, "Hope you enjoy your lunch". Sensing none of my sarcasm, she smiled and said thanks.
