Food quality / price (value) rating 9. The atmosphere is 1800's Inn. We sat at the bar, but they have two very nice dining rooms also. I had the Grilled Chicken BLT. About a five ounce chicken fillet with high quality crispy bacon on a ciabotta roll with well done house cut fries. Very good. The wife had the Fried Fish Fillet sandwich and stated that it was a high quality fillet and prepared properly. Their menu is a typical pub or tavernenu without any real surprises. The wife and I were craving steak so we ventured down to the MH for Prime Rib night. We both had it cooked medium and it was absolutely PHENOMENAL!!!! It was cooked so perfectly it could be cut with a fork. Chef Nick is absolutely amazing. I would eat his cooking every day if I could!! Our server Brit was on point and very attentive. On a mini-vacation in Otis in the Berkshires, we took one evening off from cooking at our VRBO to try dinner at Morgan House, and we were very happy that we did. Morgan House is a very traditional New England upscale pub, and it feels like entering another era. We were warmly greeted and shown to a round table for our party of five. The tables are arranged so that each party can have a sense of privacy and can enjoy a conversation without distraction. Our group tried draught beers: a Belgian White, a Steel Rail, and Dogfish Head. Our entrees were the fried chicken and waffles, the fish & chips, and three different burgers: Yard Burger, Beyond Burger, and the Angus Burger with Swiss & Crispy Bacon. The burgers, we agreed, were the best we have eaten in recent memory, cooked exactly to order, with a bun that had integrity throughout every bite. Our server, 180/Britt, was very attentive throughout the meal. We shared two desserts: Bread Pudding & Chocolate Brownie Sundae. The Bread Pudding was exceptional, with whipped cream and ice cream in a pudding loaded with nuts and fruit. Morgan House was well worth the visit at about $40/person. read more

Pleasant evening dining alone by bar. Searched for place to have the prime rib and it didn't disappoint! Portion and flavor and degree of cooking (rare for me) was wonderful. The maple old fashioned I ordered had to be sent back for more sweetener. It improved it only marginally so I Ordered a cider for after. It didn't come with a baked potato option which I really hoped for; but they said mashed potato was available. It was, however a very scant portion under the prime rib. From awful to bad How's the fish and chips, I asked. Great, she replied. The fish is really fresh. I wish I could say subpar, but I can't. It was truly one of the worst meals I have failed to enjoy. The lackluster service didn't improve anything. Allow me to explain. I expect three things in fish and chips; three equally important ingredients. Fish which should be fresh and not overcooked. Batter that should be crispy. And, chips, fries in America, that should be crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. At least that's how we make fish and chips in Scotland. Apparently that's not the expectation of the Morgan House. The fish was delightfully fresh but let down by the stodgy, undercooked batter it arrived in and the overcooked chips. The whole experience was further undermined by a token discount on the food that left me feeling that I was partially responsible. Food was subpar- both the beef and turkey burger patties were like frozen dried hockey pucks. Cheese was a single slice for $1.00 extra. Toppings were put on under the cheese so it slide off. Spinach side dish was unappetizing. Would not accommodate dietary requests. Tavern like, tables well spaced apart. Long long wait for burgers and salad. Another tourist trap please cook the meat the way the customer orders it. Ordered medium steak, It was rare wife ordered, medium well burger it was medium rare. Meat thermometers don't cost much. Should've walked away when I noticed it had a weird piss smell, and no locals were in there at 6 o'clock. If you advertise 25% off on Thursday for steak, you should actually honor it. Turkey dinner included three tough , thin slices of turkey, dried out stuffing, a very small portion of green beans and average mashed potatoes. A place with exorbitant potential but the clientele and menu should have tipped me off. It's extremely dated decor and lackluster food served by a stone faced staff. The calamari appetizer was pure salt covered in garlic aioli (not appetizing). The salmon was small and overcooked on a bed of overseasoned grainy couscous. My steak was thin and overcooked served with "roasted beets" The beets were whole beets out of a can or bag tossed with garlic in a pan. Very disappointing. Ate at Morgan House today. Nice atmosphere, reasonable service. The onion soup was delicious, the lobster roll ok but the Pot Roast was almost inedible. I'm very familiar with pot roast, but the meat they used seemed to be from a 'reconstituted' piece of beef. Two of us ordered it and neither ate much, only nibbled then left the rest uneaten. "Hush hush, keep it down now, voices carry" (Til Tuesday) If you ever find yourself seated in the bar dining room at the Morgan House, please pray to the powers above that a certain gentleman patron, with a voice like Foghorn Leghorn, isn't planted at the bar. He was the loudest in a very loud party of four whose booming voice was so loud it sounded as though he was seated next to me. We heard everything in his repertoire, including his dissertation on the impending opening of a cannabis dispensary in Lee. He was so loud that the table behind us (who were even farther away from him than we were) were smiling and laughing at the sonic assault. That kind of set the tone for what turned out to be yesterday's disappointing lunch. The menu caught our attention with something we have never seen before, a Smoked Salmon BLT Wrap with smoked salmon, house smoked bacon, and dill mayo on a spinach wrap served with a pickle and fries for $16. It wasn't what we expected, and the disappointment came from the difference between what we anticipated would be smoked salmon and what the Morgan House interprets to be smoked salmon. We expected the thin sliced deli style smoked salmon you often see layered on a bagel. What we got instead, were slabs of decidedly strong and fishy tasting salmon. Honestly, I didn't care for the taste of it at all, and the great fries and great thick bacon couldn't save the dish for me. That was a disappointing $32 spent. I know it's not fair to judge them on one dish, so I won't be harsh. The Morgan House is a very cool and very historic restaurant, going way back to 1853 and its roots as a stagecoach stop. They get 4 stars for their longevity and being gorgeous inside and out. When we go back, I will look elsewhere on the menu, and listen very carefully before seating if we consider dining in the bar. read more

Classic colonial American interior. We all ordered sandwiches (burgers and chicken). Solid preparation. Fries were hand cut. Burger was decently cooked. Salad was a spring mix with almonds and cranberry with a balsamic dressing on the side. We travel to the Berkshires annually for a charity event and agreed this was one of our favorite meals. Kitchen is accommodating to children (2 in 5-ish range and it looked like they got chicken fingers - but not certain. Staring at someone's food is weird and rude). Star lost because their dessert wasn't very good. I love pie. This was clearly homemade - but without care. Crust was soggy, crumble top had no crunch. Filling (or maybe crust) tasted floury. Possibly the best French onion soup I have ever had. It was so good. Went here for lunch with a co-worker while in the area. We got there a tad past the lunch hour. So, the place was mostly empty and very quaint. I am guessing it is that peaceful even when busy. The place just exudes charm and quaintness. We parked in the town lot which just up at the next street but there is street parking right out front. I also got the hand cut fries and they were very good as well. It looked like the end of the bag stuff though... many "shorties". Highly recommend. read more

The Morgan House was amazing! I wanted to eat somewhere a bit older, with history and this was perfect. Located in downtown Lee, it's been in operation since 1853. We were seated right away and had an excellent view of the street, good for people watching. I got the vibe that this was a very haunted location. I would love to actually stay over next visit. The menu is great. Lots of items to choose from and specials of the day. We went with the roasted half duck. So good that my dining partner only offered to share once and it was gone in no time. I went with the turkey dinner. Lovely stuffing and gravy. We also got rolls that went nicely with the gravy. I was so tempted by their Friday prime rib special and halibut daily special that we almost returned the next day. Our waitress was very sweet. I could hear her in the next dining room taking special care of some older guests and she still took time to continue to check in on us. We even splurged and went for dessert - I highly recommend the vanilla creme brule. Decadent and sweet. Prices were really good for the quality of food and amount you received. These were really filling meals and everything was perfect. The drink menu is also huge. I ended up getting two of the summer Sangria's and they were just beautifully done. Mr Louis Maitre d was great. Inn was nice. A lot of rooms inside. Busy place, good that we made a reservation, as recommended. Menu looked good. We ordered clam chowder, calamari, fish and chips and lobster roll. Servings looked good, however the lobster roll didn't smell and taste fresh. Ate here 3 times late July to early August. Good experience was marred by overcharge on steak dinner. Menu price was $5.00 less than bill. My examination of the bill caught the error. Got the extra charge refunded to me with the explanation that the menu was out of date. Really? If so, the server should have been aware of this. No apology offered. Not sure I'll return. It was a mixture of good and "OK". We called ahead for reservations which was good as the place was pretty crowded as the Lee class of 1979 was having their 40th reunion there that night. It's not really that they were taking up table space as they had their own function room but they had to use the main bar for drinks which made it loud and crowded. For a while we couldn't even find someone to seat us, the one guy who pointed us to the bar who we thought was part of the reunion actually worked for the place and finally realized we were there for our reservations. I had the Saturday night Prime Rib special which was quite nice, not tough or cold like some other places. We got the artichoke and spinach dip appetizer which was very good. If we go back we'll try and pick a night when it's not so crowded. read more

First time. Part of a large wedding party. Buffet was well thought out, food hit the mark, and servers were very attentive.

Food was okay, expected a little better quality for the price but that's the time we live in now. Server was pushy and slow on the service . She was likely the worst experience of the dinner. Rude, very impatient and walked away several times when we didn't get our words out fast enough. Plan on slow service and an unfriendly fast talking server. Gentlemen in from taking reservations was pleasant and apologetic. 2 stars could've easily been 4 with the other server who was just as busy and much more pleasant to her customers. read more

Mediocre food. Most of the staff was friendly, but a blond server was extremely rude. Traveling from out of state. I took my cocktail outside & she came & grabbed it, yelling that it's against the law. Ok...I didn't know & would've brought it back in. I finished my phone call & went back in to ask where it was. She "got rid of it." I asked for a replacement & she replied "I'm not serving you." I asked for a refund & she said "no, you broke the law." Unbelievable.
