Yikes. I went here because I heard it was under new management, but it was the same old underwhelming experience. There was no one at our table who had warm food. Everything came out cold from the kitchen as if it had been left by an open window after being cooked. And they were out of quite a few things, so it's not like a complex menu. We ordered burgers, fish and chips, etc. Server was ok. He didn't have great insights into the drinks - but at least he was trying. I really want the Grouse House to work. It's got a great view of Otis Ridge and would be a fun place to go after skiing. But if you can't get pretty basic dishes right, no one is coming back. read more

Really nice atmosphere and abundantly friendly staff who are all happy to sit and chat. Food was very good, everything we ordered. The price was very reasonable, dinner for 3 (with appetizers) was about $80 which is not bad at all for around here. Only thing that needs some improvements is the building itself needs proper ventilation and climate control. The whole dining area was filled with smoke from the grill inside the kitchen, and it was around 78° inside the dining area due to improper air conditioning on a warm summer day. read more

The place sells no Bar BQ whatsoever, that chief is gone, and the place has a totally different menu. They should update their Yelp information so no one is misled like we were. When you have a craving for Q, potstickers, and mushroom ravioli won't do it for you... Service was extremely slow, there was only one I two other diners at another table, but our beers and wine were left on the bar to get warm. The best thing that we ordered was the wing appetizer, they were absolutely fantastic. Three orders of fish and chips, and a fish sandwich, the fish was very greasy, and all three fries that came with the fish and chip entrees were barely warm. The fries that came with the fish sandwich nice and hot...Cucumber salad that came with the f&c entrees did not come out, had to be asked for, was pretty much unpalatable. read more

Thursday night on a holiday week every table was full. We ordered pizza and a salad at 730 -- sipped beer for an hour until the food arrived 830. Noticed others still waiting for their dinner at 9 PM, which is closing time. Very happy that the place is popular but hope they get their act together. read more

This restaurant is a great little place only minutes from home! The drinks are great (I think the bartenders name is Terry she's awesome) and the food is good! I definitely recommend for a laid back dining experience with great drinks and simple tasty eats. The pot stickers and calamari apps are very yummy! We go once a week and are always happy. This is opening night and service was a bit slow which is expected. I had the eggplant parmigiana served over a crispy polenta. This was the BEST I have ever had. Thicker than most but cooked to perfection with a savory tomato sauce. The eggplant was moist and tender with no bitter taste. Excellent! The service by Heather was very pleasant and made the wait enjoyable. A must try. If this is their opening night then I have great expectations for the future. The apple crisp was also spot on. This was my husband and I's first visit here while we were staying at an airbnb in Becket. I easily made a reservation online and we were sat right away in a cozy spot inside next to the window. We had a beautiful view and service couldn't have been better. We enjoyed nachos to start, a burger, a mozzarella and tomato salad and finally the most amazing smores cake I ever had! We were checked on by our server frequently and the host. It was a great atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. We will definitely be back! read more

Three of us had a very enjoyable dinner last night. Portion sizes were perfect (generous side of vegetables). Flavors were really nice. I had the sampler appetizer with ribs, pulled pork, and pulled chicken. Liked them all. My partner had the only disappointment. Thought her smoked salmon was a bit dry and lacked flavor. She put a little barbecue sauce on it and was happy. She really enjoyed the mashed potatoes. Liked looking out at the ski slopes. Ambiance was nice. We waited for a whole hour for 2 burgers and chicken nuggets. One burger was supposed to come with tomato and cucumber salad. It had neither. The other was just missing cucumber salad. Menu promised hand cut fries. I can tell it was made from pre-cut frozen. Waiters wore shirts "please be patient, there's like three of us". They should hire more. read more

Had a good meal here. I had the duck special-half a duck with rice and a soy ginger sauce. Deliciously crisp yet moist. The skin was amazing. Hubby had the barbecue chicken which he really enjoyed. We came here to eat a few years ago. It was a ski shack back then. We had heard the Grouse House was under new management. Indeed- The atmosphere has been updated. As has the menu. A lot of hard surfaces so even though the diners can no longer see the bar - you can certainly hear it! A menu for all tastes and budgets. I had the bar b que chicken with homemade Mac and cheese. The chicken had some sauce spread on before reheating. The Mac and cheese was unremarkable. My husband had the ribs with Mac n cheese. A good portion but nothing very memorable. Wonderful spot to be somewhere so historical in the Hilltowns. Very accommodating to families, sitting at the bar and small crowds. I took my fiancé and my sister. The food was fantastic very tasty and every which way the waitress was very attentive and very polite. Coleslaw was the best I've ever had. We all had the ribs. Went here Friday 11/12, good crowd of people, the clam chowder was good, but warm. We ordered the lamb burger and chicken parm, I wouldn't recommend either. The burger was pink in the middle, the chicken parm was over cooked. Wasn't worth the $74.00 we paid. read more

What a complete experience! The new Grouse House is a great addition to the area. We were greeted by Michele and she was eager to accommodate our party of 3 even though it was super busy at 7:30 Saturday night. We had great martinis and warm bread and butter. We had strawberry salad and calamari and wings for appetizers. Our waitress Skylar was adorable and offered suggestions that were spot on! We had BBQ chicken with the best Mac & Cheese as a side. I had the stuffed salmon and my son had the breakfast burger. The food was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The atmosphere was lovely and the restroom was bright and clean. The renovations were greatly needed and appreciated. Good job chef Mike and staff. We have a home in OWL and will be back with friends. read more

So we went to the grouse last nite. Boy were we surprised with how good the food was . I had mikes ribs. They are just as good as they were before . The Mac and cheese was also good. My wife got the strip steak . Excellent !! This restaurant is worth the hike up the steps. The hostess told me people who cannot make the steps. Drive up the slope on the left side of the parking area and come up the back . Only about 5 steps there. Older folks would like this entrance . My compliments to mike terenova and his staff. We liked the friendly atmosphere, casual setting and good service, but the food to varied widely in quality and taste. The pulled pork sliders did not live up to their rave reviews here on Yelp. Not very flavorful, and the "side of coleslaw" was heaped on top of the pork. Very disappointing. The "large plate" of BBQ Ribs was five unattractive, pre-cut, heavily sauced spare ribs with loads of fat and cartilage. Nothing like the typical tender (and more expensive) baby backs. The ribs were super-hot and the flap meat at the bottom was so tough as to be inedible. Definitely suspect a microwave reheat here. Coleslaw was very good, mac 'n cheese was okay. This place was very interesting. It's at the base of a ski resort. Not much parking, found a spot on the side of the rode. The view as very cool. My SO and I got got the chicken wings as an app they were good. Also our meals where on the smaller side which I really like. I was able to make substitutions on my order. read more

Tried the ribs dinner recently and today I had the pulled pork sandwich and crispy chicken sandwich. More than satisfied both times. As an Otis part-timer but now spending the bulk of time here (due to coronavirus) I'm so happy to have access to such quality food minutes from home. Okay, if someone who is posted to Yelp before and ate here and did not post, they did so for a reason. That is to give Grouse House less than one star. But that does not help anyone else. We drove by here and saw several cars parked outside. I thought either a) it was a trap or b) it was actually really good. The place is in the middle of nowhere and I was hungry. We check TripAdvisor and it was highly rated. Damn reviews. Wrong, wrong, wrong. There were about seven people at the bar as a group. They all drove which explains all the cars. An elderly couple at the table next to us. I figure each of them drove themselves as well. I asked for the three sliders, medium rare. What did I get? I full burger well done. My wife ordered the soup which she said was not too bad. The crackers however must have been from 1900. Stale! We were the only people in the restaurant. How can you mess up an order?! Horrid. It looks like there is a ski slope in back so maybe ... nah. You have been warned. read more

My husband and I had dinner at The Grouse House this evening. The chef, Michael Terranova, a local superstar, prepares creative, delicious food. The restaurant has been completely renovated, with tasteful decor and comfortable seating. The portions are generous. The hostess is gracious and our server, a special ed teacher, was highly professional. We really love this upgraded dining spot, and prefer it to some fancier places in Lenox for a casual dinner in a friendly atmosphere. The prices are quite reasonable, another plus. read more

We were frequent diners at Grouse House prior to Covid, and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Since Covid we have ordered take-out twice. The first time my wife's salmon was overcooked and a really unflattering piece was selected. We threw it into the garbage and shared my ribs which were quite good. Tonight we ordered the ribs again but unknown to us (as we used the online menu) the restaurant reduced the number of ribs from 6 - 7 pieces to only 4. I called the restaurant to inquire and was told they changed the munu (why couldnt they tell us this development when we placed the order). I clearly voiced my unhappiness and about 10 minutes later the "Rib chef" called my wife and actually argued with her that the menu had changed (notwithstanding that we reconfirmed the order size on the online menu). Anyway, we will not be ordering again from Grouse house until we can physically go there as they obviously struggle with takeout orders. read more

My family went here a few nights ago and we were all very impressed. I had the barbeque ribs with mac and cheese and coleslaw, and others had the rib eye steak and brussel sprouts. The unanimous consensus was excellent! The homemade cheesecake was fantastic and the staff was very friendly and efficient. We will be back! This definitely gets a 5 rating in my book! read more
