This was our first visit, and it was exceptional. The bartender was so friendly and skilled. The madre di got us a cute table in the main room, and it felt like we were invited into a big boisterous family. Not to loud thought, the acoustics were perfect for talking. The waitress was also a pleasure, and she worked with us and our non-dairy preferences to suggest the perfect meal. To top it off, there was a really great band, Jordan Weller, whom I have heard on WBCR, small world here. Turns out it was their first time there, too.

Great staff. Great food. Great drinks. Great grounds. Great music. And the vibes. The vibes can't be beat. Do yourself a favor and visit the Dream Away!

I love the funky vibe and the live music. The menu looks fantastic. But, the food doesn't live up to the menu. At best, the food was bland. In reality, it was just poor quality. I ordered lamb on hummus, which should have been an interesting Mediterranean dish. It wasn't. The lamb was little crumbles, not slices, sitting on top of what could best be described as chickpea mash. It tasted a bit like polenta. There were no interesting spices in the dish. If I did not know what the menu said, I would have had no idea what I ordered. My wife got the tamale special. It was very doughy with little meat or vegetables. It was also bland. The sauce that came with it was so spicy that it was hardly edible. And, we like spicy foods. So, it was poor either with or without the sauce. I am told that the burgers and drinks are excellent by the people at the adjacent table. Our guests enjoyed the Mac and Chesse dinner as well as the fettuccine in clam sauce. My guess is that the simple meals are best. As for the fun environment, there are two elements. It is a funky old speakeasy out in the middle of nowhere. You can feel the party. In addition, there is the people watching. It is an unusual crowd that mixes well together. The live music is fun and intimate. The drinks do flow. Warning..... If you are allergic to cats, they have freedom to walk anywhere in the dining room. And the place can have a musty smell. Warning..... There is no cell phone coverage and the owner will not give you the wifi password. That is great for a disconnected time. But, if you are a doctor or worried about a sick family member, this may not be your choice. P.S. To get an idea of the fun environment, I provide a photo of the "Maybe you touched your genitals" brand soap in the bathroom. Just a small sample.

Not quite ready for the crowds yet. Limited menu, staffing issues, overpriced meatballs. New GM needs to get acclimated.

Dream Away is the perfect name. Even though service was spotty on a super busy night, I have to give five stars for magic.

A Valentine's dinner that did not impress!…read more Valentine's has always been a very special holiday for me. My husband and I decided to spend the weekend in the Berkshires, which was lovely and quiet. I made reservations ahead of time for this highly rated wine bar and very close to where we were staying. First off, due to the previous weather/storms they had no street parking. But luckily we parked in a nearby lot. Upon arrival, the restaurant bar area was very nice and romantic. The server brought us to our table but I was a bit disappointed in the ambiance. I mean the bar area was a bit darker and the table that we were being seated at had a lot of light. Now, don't get me wrong, It was Valentine's day which screams romantic and there was no romantic vibe to this restaurant. After mentioning this to our server she did move us and turned down the lights a bit which was much better. Food/Drinks: The menu was not big at all which was nice. I ordered a dirty martini to start which needed more olive juice and my husband ordered a rum cocktail which he enjoyed. For starters, I ordered their Over Roasted Parsnip which was very good and filling. My husband had their Beet Salad which he said was excellent. For entrees, I had their Seared Duck Breast. I really enjoyed the caramel sauce but did not love the duck itself. My husband had the Oven Roasted Chicken Statler which was very dry he could barley eat it. Also, since this is a wine bar I will say the wines were nothing special which was also a bit disappointing. I wish they had something unique and special to offer especially being on a Valentine's Day. I feel this place may be more of a summer destination. Service: Service was excellent I will say. Our server was always asking how things were, checking on us and if we needed anything and asking about any additional drinks. etc. Also, the Manager came over to ask how everything was but he spefically looked at me. I think my husband would've mentioned his meal being dry if he looked at him as well but my husband could've spoken up too. We did say something to our server after she asked about the chicken dish, which they ended up taken off the bill which was very nice. Overall: I didn't love Alta Wine Bar my first time here, but I would come back in the spring or summer months when the weather is warm to try it again. Cheers~

Stopped at the local Liquor store and he recommended this place. Ordered a few things. Was feeling like I was coming down with a cold so wanted soup. Hubby always wants a burger so we did that too. The place is super cool and we kinda wished we had ate there. So ordered on the app and it gave us a time of 40 mins to pick up, never been there so I assumed this was valid. So we went to the hotel, dropped off our stuff, checked in & then went back only to find out the order had been ready for 30 mins. The woman at the counter was like "We thought you werent coming" I already knew what that would mean... YEP, All the food was cold - and trying to make fries hot again in the hotel microwave sucked. The soup I tried to heat it but it just made it mushier. The taste & flavors of everything was DELICIOUS... Just wish the ordering process from the app was a little more accurate, and Im sure its no fault of the restaurant as it was a 3rd party app... But be mindful if you are ordering online! The pizza was delicious, definitely would try out more of them if in the area again!

He was assisted by servers who brought food from the kitchen. We had identical meals. The black lentil soup (soup of the day) was very good. We shared a wedge salad lettuce with halved cherry tomatoes, bacon bits and chopped fried onions and it was super. I'm not big on dressing as a whole, but it was quite flavorful. We each had the smash burger. It's two thin patties made from sirloin and ribeye coated with cheddar cheese placed on chopped lettuce and tomato, resting on a fresh roll. It was hot and so juicy and delicious. The only drawback for the entire meal was that the fries were over cooked. For dessert my wife had the apple pie with ice cream, I had the brown sugar cake with coffee ice cream. Both simple, yet scrumptious. Overall a delicious meal, it seemed expensive, but we had wine. FYI, we saw others being served the fish and chips (Cod) and it looked great.
