    Crabcakes with corn and tomatoes.
    John S.

Bistro Zinc is an excellent, bustling restaurant in the heart of historic Lenox. The staff is attentive and kind and the atmosphere is the perfect combination of chic and yet down to earth. The dumpling appetizer I ordered (filled with beef short rib) was just "okay." The meat was a little dry. But the recommended crab cakes more than made up for this. In fact, they were absolutely delicious! No filler here. Lightly breaded with lots of lump crab served on a light bed of pesto and accompanied by fresh, seasonal vegetables. I only wish, for the price, the chef had included a third crab cake. The serving size was a little small. But not much one can complain about here. This is an excellent spot if you're in the Tanglewood area. PS. The burgers looked massive (shareable) and great. PPS - The bartender pours generous cocktails!

The interior is simple and understated, yet refined - a few booths, marble tables near the windows, classic wooden dining chairs. The service was well-paced (not rushed not too slow) and the menu offered something for everyone. We loved our spicy old fashioned and margarita (they take their bartending seriously in Lenox!) and the short rib dumpling starter. They also serve a warm french baguette wrapped in paper with soft butter. The steak frites featured a perfectly cooked NY strip, and the chicken francaise was one of the best we've ever had. We finished with profiteroles, a perfect ending to a wonderful meal. It was a birthday dinner to remember!

    Roasted trout

2025 Dec 16: 1) steak frites medium 2) roasted trout 3) French onion soup 4) grilled tuna salad medium rare. The salad was split for the two of us and really good. French onion soup is less salty than many that we had before with generous helping of melted cheese. Both the steak and the trout were excellent. If the steak could have come with mashed potatoes it would be great. The sauce for the roasted trout is excellent too.

Really enjoyed my dinner here. We had a reservation on a Monday night and it was very busy so it was definitely needed. The service was friendly and quick, they seemed very well staffed compared to many other restaurants in the state. The portions were large so definitely come with a good appetite. My pasta was a special for the night and it was delicious and fresh tasting. The ambiance was lovely so could see it being a good spot for a special occasion.

Unlike another French restaurant in Lee we've visited in the past- and most recently for dinner an hour before closing and felt extremely rushed, Bistro Zinc was the total opposite in well-off Lenox to ring in my birthday on Monday. And mind you, we actually sat down an hour (also) before closing. Bistro Z. is located in the heart of Lenox and nestled among stylish boutiques on buzzing Church St. There's more than enough parking in their gravel lot in the back and the inside is just as spacious. Bistro Z. oozes elegance- but it's not "French" in your face- has soft glow lighting, dark woods and wall-to-wall mirrors in some of the dining rooms. And just like Lenox, Bistro Z., is a portrait of subtle sophistication. Our young server Paige, was such a sweetheart who delivered outstanding service despite us dining an hour before closing. There were still folks hobnobbing til closing time- the same was for other folks gradually enjoying their last several bites. We fell under this bracket with a lot more ease. We sat, savored and classily devoured our delicious meals. We know how to comport ourselves. We know where we're at. Thank you for NOT rushing us! Our Arugula+Goat Ch. crumbles+etc salad was dressed perfectly in a flavorful dressing without mustard. The $25 load of Fried Oysters was more than an appetizer. Those suckers could've been a meal. The dredge on them reminded me of our favorite fried oysters at Island Cow in Sanibel Is. I could've had another serving. One of the 'Specials' of the night was a Grilled Scallop dish on a buttery medley of wild rice+corn+sautéed spinach. And fabulous it was! Hubs was all over his steak and said it was flavorful. At this point, we wanted our Profiterole dessert to go (which was packaged quite nicely). Bistro Zinc has set a benchmark for excellence in Lenox- not because these folks don't follow a small plate concept- but because they exude casual elegance, service is beyond and food is spectacular- in my opinion. Can I also mention the French music was everything! Our dinner didn't cost the earth. The next time I'm in the area, I'd run like a thief in the night to come here.

Had a great late lunch here on July 4th. It seemed busy, but we were seated immediately. I ordered the mushroom omelette with fries. Everyone in our party received the food quickly. Would definitely return another time to try some of the other dishes.

I'm back! And what a sub par return it was. After a few long years of COVID restrictions, we are finally venturing back into the world. This weekend we are visiting the Berkshires and taking in a few of the sights. We arrived earlier this afternoon and secured an early reservation for dinner at Bistro Zinc. The wait staff was very efficient and our food came out quickly. First, the burger was to be well done, however, arrived medium. I thought I'd try something a bit more challenging from the menu so I ordered the jambalaya. I know, Lenox, MA is not New Orleans but hey, they had it on the menu so .... Chef Lagasse would be very disappointed. The place is clean enough and over all ambiance is nice but if you're looking for fantastic, keep looking. I will to and let you know if we find it in this area. Ciao!

This was the best food I ate while visiting Massachusetts. I had the crab cake sandwich and would recommend to everyone!!!! My granddaughter got the French dip and she said it was delicious too.

The historic…read moremansion was recently (beautifully!) renovated to create a cozy bar, various dining spaces, and fireplace lounge seating tucked throughout the rambling first floor rooms, plus elegant sleeping quarters located on the upper floors. We enjoyed dinner before an event, then returned afterward for late-evening cocktails next to the fireplace, and we can attest that there is no other space that feels like Dulu in the entire Lenox/Stockbridge/Lee area! The vibe is classic yet modern, intimate, but also a little bit edgy, with a funky eclectic decor and quiet club music playing in the background - a perfect mix of Berkshires elegance plus contemporary urban sophistication! We shared several items for dinner, and felt that all were well-executed and very enjoyable - including an excellent spice-rubbed shrimp appetizer with fresh green s'chug for dipping, a bright shaved Brussels & manchego salad (which would have benefitted from just a pinch more salt), a perfectly-prepared thick hunk of salmon with crispy skin & bitter greens, and an interesting squash gnocchi with sausage and rosemary (which would have benefitted from a final light splash of acid - perhaps a squeeze of lemon or a few drops of champagne vinegar). Cocktails and wine pairings were EXCELLENT - this bar staff really knows what they're doing! Service was kind and efficient, and we were truly made to feel welcome. Prices are definitely at the higher end, but we felt that the quality of the food and beverages we enjoyed, plus the INCREDIBLE Dulu atmosphere, more than justify the cost. Thank you, Dulu - we will definitely be back!

He served up multiple mocktails and cocktails with aplomb and even pulled off a ginger and lychee combination that shouldn't have worked but was delish. Almost everything else missed the mark. Staff should know to de-vein shrimp before sending out skewers. They should also know what "black and blue" means if they're serving steak. Another table ordered it and five staff members huddled around a phone at the bar to look it up like they were searching for Pokémon. The orecchiette had perfect texture, but truffle oil made half the plate inedible. The Persian crispy rice, the dish I was most looking forward to, was a complete let down. The rice was well cooked, but the eggplant filling was nearly flavorless and the meager amount of smoked tomato couldn't save it. The roasted mushroom board was good though we improved it ourselves by spreading leftover s'chug from the shrimp skewers onto the bread and layering the mushrooms on top. It also had truffle for some reason. Why? Dulu has the right ingredients to be top tier. This just wasn't their night. The bartender rescued the evening. Give that man a raise.

The grounds are beautiful to explore, and you get to hear performances by world class musicians, while enjoying a picnic, if you wish! They always have a great lineup of classical as well as popular artists. I go regularly in the summers for concerts, and usually sit in the hall, but this time I enjoyed a wonderful concert on the lawn with my extended family. People really go all out setting up their picnics! Definitely get there a couple of hours early if you want to snag a prime and shady spot, especially if it's a popular artist. (Lawn tix are free for kids under 18!) You can bring your own food and drinks, or there are dining options on premises, and you can even order a picnic-to-go in advance online. Bring all the accoutrements to make your setup as comfy as possible - lawn chairs, picnic blankets, cooler, shade umbrella, misting fan, maybe a candelabra lol. The lawn is beautifully kept and lush & green. On this occasion we saw the powerhouse quartet of Emanuel Ax, Leonidas Kavakos, Yo-Yo Ma, and Antoine Tamestit performing an all-Beethoven program. The music was transcendent and the weather was luckily perfect, and it was a pleasurable way to spend an afternoon. Again, I stipulate arriving 1-2 hours early, more if you want time to tour the sprawling grounds properly. There will be a traffic jam leading up to the parking lot, and parking can take a while (though very organized). If the main lot is full, it might take another 5-7 minutes to walk to the gate from the parking field across the street.

The shed is a comfy, brilliantly resonant arena to enjoy the musical experience. The rehearsal, of course, may include repetition, incomplete performance and some starting ands stopping. That said, it nonetheless offers glorious insight into the making of classical music. And importantly, if it's raining, it's where you stay dry. The Tanglewood lawn is famous, and justly so. It is beautifully kept, it's a lot of giant shade trees under which you'll find hundreds of people enjoying pic pics as they watch and listen to the music on good screens with terrific outdoor speakers. The Saturday morning rehearsals are not nearly as crowded as the concerts, so our photos show how much room there for everyone (little ones are welcome outdoors, too). Bring your own picnic or buy snacks on site (you can also purchase rather expensive seated meals as well). There's a beer garden if you prefer alcoholic beverages like beer, wine and cocktails. Finally there's a cute gift shop on premises for Tanglewood-logo items. Lastly, our small complaint. Tanglewood is not inexpensive. It's not necessarily out of line compared to other summer musical events, but concert tickets can run well over $100 (less for the lawn, of course). Our three rehearsal tickets in the shed were $56 each with as $27 handling fee (what that is). That seems a bit excessive and may keep some people away, though again lawn seats are less pricey. That's our opinion, anyway.

Our family of 8 skied a few days after Christmas, and after we ordered our lunch, the wait for our (very basic!) order was very long (at least 25-30 minutes). Then when the food finally started being delivered, it arrived in "shifts" so that half our group ended up finishing their lunches before the other half had even received their orders. (First the chili in bread bowls was delivered, then 5 minutes later the burger orders were delivered, then 5 minutes after that, the deep-fried items arrived, etc...) We understand that off-season staffing in the Berkshires is a challenge, but it was disappointing not to be able to share lunch with each other at the same time, and the slow-down in everyone being able to eat delayed our return to the slopes as we'd wished. The food was more than adequate for what it is, and the upstairs space & view of the mountain are beautiful as always, but the service needs work.

They did bring some green beans to correct the order but they were not edible. They tasted like propane oddly. The chicken sandwich was very dry with a visibly old and near rotten shriveled tomato. The French fries were good as were the beverages. Our waiter was great and incredibly understanding of our poor experience. After finding out that a staff member provided incorrect information and our gift card would not be honored the manager called her DM who informed her there was nothing they could do. We got 25% off the bill at the end of it all but even with that the food was not great. A couple items ordered weren't awful but it's not something I would return for. Super disappointed , I really wish we went to another place to dine.
