We had a lovely lunch here. Seated by the hostess in the front window we had a sunny view of the street. Our waitress came by to take a drink order and brought us a bottle of water for the table. The menu is limited, but has plenty of variety and everything has a level of 'comfort' instead of 'stuffy'. The presentation of our meals is well done. I ordered a salad and the produce was fresh with crisp lettuce, well prepared grilled tuna and boiled egg. The dressing was light and tasty. Would order this again. Two peanut butter cookies arrived with our check. I am kind of surprised they would choose to serve peanut butter with so many people having nut allergies, including myself. I had to ask what type of cookies they were before I took one. That just seems like a dangerous policy. Otherwise, we enjoy our time here. Everything is top tier from flatware to restroom to service to food quality. Definitely worth a look. read more

So creamy, that I dared to ask for a to-go container for my remaining cream to bring at home to cook with some salmon with ! And the nice waitress gave me a container without hesitation! We ate here tonight and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Our server, Alex M., was personable, welcoming, attentive, and a pleasure to interact with. His professionalism and friendliness truly enhanced the evening. Warm baguette with smooth, lightly salted butter was brought out almost immediately, which was a lovely way to begin the meal. To start, I had the French onion soup while my husband ordered the sesame-crusted tuna. Both dishes were excellent. The soup arrived steaming hot with deep, rich flavor and was wonderfully comforting. Hubby enjoyed the tuna as well. For my main course, I had the wild Gulf shrimp pappardelle with sweet corn, sun gold tomatoes, lemon, and Fresno chili. It was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared -- light without feeling too delicate and packed with vibrant flavors. Hubby ordered the burger without the bun and said it was very good. Wow, came here for my birthday dinner and the experience was great. We arrived a bit early for our reservation and were willing to seat us, but when we requested a quiet table they directed us to a dining room spot right next to a large group with kids (how would this be quiet?). Upon out request they sat us instead near the bar, which had great atmosphere although the tables are spaced a bit closely, typical of a true bistro. The food was incredible! This spot is a real gem! Everything was delicious. I stared with a pear martini and an arugula, apple, butternut squash and goat cheese salad. The goat cheese was breaded and of good quality. My fiancé enjoyed the most epic French onion soup. This is massive and just loaded with cheese. You could have this as an entree maybe with an app. We both had the eggplant and spinach lasagna. So delicious and the tomato sauce did not overwhelm the other flavors. They gave me a small glass of ice cream with a candle as a birthday treat but we were way too full for dessert. Dinner at Bistro Zinc was the best meal we had in the Berkshires. My martini was exactly as ordered -- very cold, dry, up and with a couple of olives. I came for the steak frites but the huge chunk of beef and plate full of fries seemed more than I could handle. So, I switched and had appetizer items both for my starter and my entrée. The French onion soup was piled high with cheese and the onion broth was delicious and seemed housemade. My appetizer serving of fried oysters was wonderful, and more than enough for a main course. My partner also enjoyed her meal. Bistro Zinc is just the right size for an upscale restaurant, not too small and not too big. It is divided into two or three separate areas, so even half full it seems busy. The noise level is low. There's plenty of parking in the back. Service is friendly but restrained. The decor is interesting, with huge photographs and other art on the walls. This is my kind of place. With tax and tip and a couple of drinks our meal came to around $150. Bistro Zinc is an excellent, bustling restaurant in the heart of historic Lenox. The staff is attentive and kind and the atmosphere is the perfect combination of chic and yet down to earth. The dumpling appetizer I ordered (filled with beef short rib) was just "okay." The meat was a little dry. But the recommended crab cakes more than made up for this. In fact, they were absolutely delicious! No filler here. Lightly breaded with lots of lump crab served on a light bed of pesto and accompanied by fresh, seasonal vegetables. I only wish, for the price, the chef had included a third crab cake. The serving size was a little small. But not much one can complain about here. The interior is simple and understated, yet refined - a few booths, marble tables near the windows, classic wooden dining chairs. The service was well-paced (not rushed not too slow) and the menu offered something for everyone. We loved our spicy old fashioned and margarita (they take their bartending seriously in Lenox!) and the short rib dumpling starter. They also serve a warm french baguette wrapped in paper with soft butter. The steak frites featured a perfectly cooked NY strip, and the chicken francaise was one of the best we've ever had. OMG we love the food at Zinc. My husband had the pork chop, I have never had a pork chop melt in my mouth. I had the jambalaya , amazing, sauce, shrimp, chorizo, chicken. AMAZING. Best restaurant in the Berkshire's, not just Lenox. Warm, bubbly hostess staff seated us with world class Carla, who may be my favorite server this year. Bread presentation was very creative. Duck confit and beef short rib apps were delicious and the hard to find Stonestreet Chard was served just right. So often, restaurants put high end wines on the list but don't train their staff on the difference, but Carla nailed it, including a glass "upgrade". Salmon and Duck entrees were also expertly prepared and I have not had butterscotch pudding this good in many, many years. read more

It was our first time here but came with friends who live nearby for the summer and know the restaurant. A well-designed place with elegant tables laid out to make for easy conversation. We started with various cocktails. And shared three appetizers and a salad which were all tasty and a couple of bottles of decent wines - one white and the other a red. Then for the entrees, the salmon, trout, boeuf bourguignon, duck confit and the hake special. We also shared a couple of desserts. I had to end with an espresso. An almost five star restaurant but something was missing on which I cannot quite pinpoint. The waitstaff were good but could have been a little more attentive. We were the last people in the bistro. A reasonably expensive meal which came to around $90/head (not counting the tip), but we enjoyed the meal and would probably return when we are next in the area. read more

Unlike another French restaurant in Lee we've visited in the past- and most recently for dinner an hour before closing and felt extremely rushed, Bistro Zinc was the total opposite in well-off Lenox to ring in my birthday on Monday. And mind you, we actually sat down an hour (also) before closing. Bistro Z. is located in the heart of Lenox and nestled among stylish boutiques on buzzing Church St. There's more than enough parking in their gravel lot in the back and the inside is just as spacious. Bistro Z. oozes elegance- but it's not "French" in your face- has soft glow lighting, dark woods and wall-to-wall mirrors in some of the dining rooms. And just like Lenox, Bistro Z., is a portrait of subtle sophistication. Our young server Paige, was such a sweetheart who delivered outstanding service despite us dining an hour before closing. There were still folks hobnobbing til closing time- the same was for other folks gradually enjoying their last several bites. We fell under this bracket with a lot more ease. We sat, savored and classily devoured our delicious meals. We know how to comport ourselves. We know where we're at. Thank you for NOT rushing us! Our Arugula+Goat Ch. crumbles+etc salad was dressed perfectly in a flavorful dressing without mustard. The $25 load of Fried Oysters was more than an appetizer. Those suckers could've been a meal. The dredge on them reminded me of our favorite fried oysters at Island Cow in Sanibel Is. I could've had another serving. One of the 'Specials' of the night was a Grilled Scallop dish on a buttery medley of wild rice+corn+sautéed spinach. And fabulous it was! Hubs was all over his steak and said it was flavorful. At this point, we wanted our Profiterole dessert to go (which was packaged quite nicely). Bistro Zinc has set a benchmark for excellence in Lenox- not because these folks don't follow a small plate concept- but because they exude casual elegance, service is beyond and food is spectacular- in my opinion. The service was friendly and quick, they seemed very well staffed compared to many other restaurants in the state. The portions were large so definitely come with a good appetite. I'm back! And what a sub par return it was. After a few long years of COVID restrictions, we are finally venturing back into the world. This weekend we are visiting the Berkshires and taking in a few of the sights. We arrived earlier this afternoon and secured an early reservation for dinner at Bistro Zinc. The wait staff was very efficient and our food came out quickly. First, the burger was to be well done, however, arrived medium. I thought I'd try something a bit more challenging from the menu so I ordered the jambalaya. I know, Lenox, MA is not New Orleans but hey, they had it on the menu so .... Chef Lagasse would be very disappointed. The place is clean enough and over all ambiance is nice but if you're looking for fantastic, keep looking. An absolute gem--now I understand why this place has been thriving for 25 years. The service was impeccable, warm without being overbearing, and the food? Flawless. I almost never say that. I'm usually the one grumbling about too much salt or something under-seasoned--but not here. We did make the mistake of ordering the mussels appetizer. Why a mistake? Because it was entrée-sized and so good, I should've stopped there. Plump, perfectly cooked, and served with those crisp, golden frites--next time (and there will be a next time, if Jesus not on the line the next time the phone rings), I'm making that my main dish. We both ordered the crab cakes, which were so packed with crab you'd be hard-pressed to find a trace of filler. I couldn't even finish mine. And of course, I needed ice cream to close the evening--purely in the name of balance, of course. Did I mention the Negroni? Balanced, bold, and beautifully made. Solid choice to get a nice dinner in Lenox. Service is good. The interior looks really cool; it has a cool ceiling and a lot of natural light during the day. Zinc burger is really good Orecchiette is alright, a bit heavy on the oil. Short rib dumplings tasted alright but didn't really work well as a fusion dish. I've been visiting here for more than a decade - wow. It's still great! The food here is unreal and has stood the test of time. I'm always blown away by the ingredients and freshness here. They also know how to split things up - my friend and I wanted to share their goat cheese salad and instead of having to do it on our own, they come out and split it up for us on our own plates and equal portions of the best ingredients - not skimping on any of the cheese or fruit. The mussels are fresh and the sauce is one you want to sop up with everything on the table. The fries - can we just have a moment just for the fries! The food was ok but the people there were obnoxious and down right miserable. It started with the hostess who was incredibly rude. First she told us that we would be sitting in the bar area. When we said we didn't want to be seated there she looked around (at the empty dining room) then said your seated in the dining room not the bar, as if we were mistaken. Both my wife and I heard her say "bar area". It took forever to get our meal. At the end I had to get up to get the waitress so I could pay. She said that she knew my wife was not happy with her and I told her I wasn't either. If they want to run a restaurant then maybe they should send their staff to charm school. The food was spectacular, as was the service and ambiance, too. It's hands down my favorite restaurant in the Berkshires. I had fresh tuna, in between sashimi and cooked with a sesame crust with wakame seaweed on a bed of noodles. My husband had the shortrib dumplings with the best au jus dipping sauce I've ever tried in my life. These are two appetizers - since portions are so generous, it was enough for us. We dined at Bistro Zinc right when they opened Wednesday at 11:30am. With a main dining room out front and a separate bar area in the back. The dining room is well decorated and with large beautiful bay window looking out to the street. The restaurant filled up over the next one and a half hour and table placement were close to each other without really much social distancing, though all the staffs wore masks. Our brunch took 1.5 hours and the food took sometime before it came out. The jambalaya was very saucy with dry chicken, few pieces of thinly sliced sausages and a few shrimps. The burger was a nice portion cooked to order with plenty of fries and two onion rings. The French dip's short rib was lighter in flavor and small in portion. The staffs were all overall helpful and courteous except for our waitress who fit the description of a snobby waitress with an air of arrogance that we experienced throughout the service. At the end when I informed her the price of the jambalaya on the check she gave me was $29 instead of the $21 on the menu, she let out a small groan and muttered that she will fix it without apologies. I tipped 20% though I certainly did not appreciate her service. Overall the experience was fine, we only stopped for brunch before heading home after a ski trip. The place is very welcoming. Our waitress was wonderful. We had the short rib dumplings!! I could have eaten 10 of them!! My husband had the duck which he said was delicious and cooked perfectly-very crispy!! He also loved the rice that accompanied the duck. I had beef bourgonin! It was incredible!!
