Was not as pleased with this place as I would have liked. Ate at a restaurant with very similar menje the night before and it was way better in many regards. The atmosphere at dulu is nice if you are a guest or stopping by for a drink. For dinner guests it was underwhelming. Service was nice but didn't seem to match the quality of the prices. The he flavors were good in everything but an element felt missing and nothing was wow. The mushroom board was most disappointing. Branzino was good very well. read more

Let me start with the good news. This would have been a three-star review, but Dulu has a rock star bartender who elevated the whole experience. He served up multiple mocktails and cocktails with aplomb and even pulled off a ginger and lychee combination that shouldn't have worked but was delish. Almost everything else missed the mark. Staff should know to de-vein shrimp before sending out skewers. They should also know what "black and blue" means if they're serving steak. Another table ordered it and five staff members huddled around a phone at the bar to look it up like they were searching for Pokémon. The orecchiette had perfect texture, but truffle oil made half the plate inedible. The Persian crispy rice, the dish I was most looking forward to, was a complete let down. The rice was well cooked, but the eggplant filling was nearly flavorless and the meager amount of smoked tomato couldn't save it. The roasted mushroom board was good though we improved it ourselves by spreading leftover s'chug from the shrimp skewers onto the bread and layering the mushrooms on top. It also had truffle for some reason. Why? Dulu has the right ingredients to be top tier. This just wasn't their night. The bartender rescued the evening. Give that man a raise. read more

We found this restaurant online after searching for restaurants to go to before the theater and also for my husband's 50th birthday. The ambiance is really trendy and posh. We were seated at a nice cozy corner booth. For dinner, I ordered the salmon, which was delicious. Great wine selection as well. The dessert was not very good though. We found the prices to be a bit high as well. The staff were all very kind and attentive. read more

Somewhat dim but table lights helped Music a little loud but heard and could be heard Comfy seats and classy marble tables Service sluggish Bread was crispy and butter pleasantly unusual Shrimp was but 3 but was chilled and the cocktail sauce was very good The mezze plate was mehhhhhze at best. Hummus was not very toothsome and veggies were ok--I guess... Caesar salad was smallish and lots of yummy sour dough croutons but the dressing was bland--needed more anchovy pasta, garlic and Worcester sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly and sliced and seasoned just right--was a little rubbery. :-( The portion was also a tad stingy They are losing a star because nobody came by after food was dropped off to check in on us. That's my new pet peeve...don't scamper off hoping for the best. read more

What a gem! We found dulu online while looking for dinner spots near Tanglewood. The restaurant is inside of a hotel and has the cutest decor. The reserved a table for 3 in the bar. The service team is still working out some kinks, but the food and hospitality make up for it. We had the charcuterie board for an appetizer. Our drinks were soooo good, they have an extensive bar menu. My table mates ordered the salmon, I ordered the steaks. Everything was delicious. When back in the area I will definitely dine here again. read more

We've just made our first visit to Dulu and the Doctor Sax House, and we are HOOKED! The historic mansion was recently (beautifully!) renovated to create a cozy bar, various dining spaces, and fireplace lounge seating tucked throughout the rambling first floor rooms, plus elegant sleeping quarters located on the upper floors. We enjoyed dinner before an event, then returned afterward for late-evening cocktails next to the fireplace, and we can attest that there is no other space that feels like Dulu in the entire Lenox/Stockbridge/Lee area! The vibe is classic yet modern, intimate, but also a little bit edgy, with a funky eclectic decor and quiet club music playing in the background - a perfect mix of Berkshires elegance plus contemporary urban sophistication! We shared several items for dinner, and felt that all were well-executed and very enjoyable - including an excellent spice-rubbed shrimp appetizer with fresh green s'chug for dipping, a bright shaved Brussels & manchego salad (which would have benefitted from just a pinch more salt), a perfectly-prepared thick hunk of salmon with crispy skin & bitter greens, and an interesting squash gnocchi with sausage and rosemary (which would have benefitted from a final light splash of acid - perhaps a squeeze of lemon or a few drops of champagne vinegar). Cocktails and wine pairings were EXCELLENT - this bar staff really knows what they're doing! Service was kind and efficient, and we were truly made to feel welcome. Prices are definitely at the higher end, but we felt that the quality of the food and beverages we enjoyed, plus the INCREDIBLE Dulu atmosphere, more than justify the cost. The restaurant and bar are lovely-- great atmosphere. We were greeted warmly and immediately seated at a beautiful table - we could see the warm fireplace nearby. Our server, Katie was engaging and responded to questions with great recommendations. Very friendly and professional. My Pisco Sour was fabulous-- a great bartender. The beet salad was tasty- I'd order again. Lobster bisque was so good- although the lobster itself was quite tough. Things deteriorated from there-- the steak was delivered room temperature and over cooked. A table, seated after us and ordered after us were served their meals well before ours arrived. The manager was pleasant and came to check on us. We were told there was a large party being served and our meals were impacted us. While the manager did remove one of the steaks from our bill and gave us complimentary dessert-- our time at Dulu was not great. I believe there is potential this was an off night for them. Still, I would suggest asking if they will be hosting a large party before going there again. It was obvious, sadly, that the chef had too much volume to provide a great meal. read more

This place is one of those no brainers -- you just go. The food is stellar, the ambience is on point and the place is just stunning. Take a glance at the drop dead gorgeous and impeccable kitchen on the way to the bathroom if you want to turn green with envy. Not to be missed is the darling and cozy bar. I really want to recommend this place more. It is in a lovely house on a pretty corner in Lenox. The surface was fantastic and attentive, so, from an ambience and service point of view, you'll have an excellent night. The food, however, was a bit disappointing. My wife and I ordered the Chicken Confit and the Persian Crispy Rice. When chicken confit is done well, it should be tender, flavorful, and the meat should fall off the bone. Sadly, I found this chicken rather boring. It would be something that I could get at almost any restaurant for chicken. The Persian rice was supposed to be filled with eggplant. But it had just a narrow, thin layer. It tasted more like rice than with any sense of eggplant. I'm still going to give this place four stars. Because the service was elegant and the environment is pleasant. If you're going somewhere for a date or to meet some people and want to have a nice time, then you've found a really lovely spot. The food isn't terrible. It just isn't what it should be. read more

Bistro food at a fine dining price. This place is trying, but we're not sure it even knows what exactly it is trying to imitate. This may be the most expensive restaurant in the Berkshires. And I really hate to give them only 3 stars, but at these prices, you would expect a Michelin star experience. But we're not even sure if they know what such an experience is. They are certainly trying to act as if they are a very high-class restaurant (or at least their fantasy about it). Instead, they offer food that was over-elaborated and put together in a clumsy fashion. Service was formal, but cold, and soul-less - even annoying at times. Now I hate giving only 3 stars to a place that does make a great lobster bisque (the rest of the meal was just OK.). But at the prices they charge, our meal was otherwise underwhelming and sadly disappointing. I would suggest sending the staff to a real Michelin-starred restaurant so they can at least have a better idea of what they should be trying to imitate. read more

So unfortunate to see this adorable place fall victim to lack of staffing. Having come from being a resident in East Hampton, LI, where staffing challenges take down so many establishments, I fear the Berkshires may suffer from the same problem. At Dulu there was no management presence on the floor of the restaurant/bar. The staff were so overwhelmed, even though very nice. Seemed as if Everyone was running in every direction. We were Customers with no water, no follow up once food was dropped off, no refills on beverages, etc. We were sorry to see how badly the staff needed Support. I'm rooting for this little gem. Perhaps owners/management should be more hands on. read more

Four of us went on Friday August 8th. Service was slow. Very loud music, noisy bar crowd. Not a place for a quiet dinner with conversation. After 2 hours we finally ordered dessert but were asked to move to the lounge for our dessert. We were never told that we had a 2 hour limit at the table. We would have been finished in two hours had the service been better. Food was a mixed bag. Overccoked salmon and dry chicken. Caprice was a nice surprise. Very strange crème brûlé. So, we're 4 New Yorkers who visited the Berkshires for a first time. Red Lion Inn was recommended by various well-wishers. Upon arriving, we immediately realized that we need to be elsewhere. Yelp search suggested dulu. As other places around Lenox were closing. What can you say? Obviously, it's work in progress. The menu (which we were told is being changed) is very simple, too simple. The mixologist was out of this world! Put some smoke in my Manhattan. The food was hit and miss. Bruschetta bread needs to be toasted, no? And not to be soggy.
