Friends and I stopped by Rebels Guild for Sunday brunch after the Walk for Hunger. It was perfect because we didn't have to wait. The menu isn't overly extensive, which I appreciated, it made choosing what to get easier, especially since everything on it sounded good. I went with the Revere Breakfast and overall, I really enjoyed it. I also had a lemonade, which was just okay. The service was quick, and the place wasn't busy, making for a relaxed and speedy experience. The atmosphere was quiet, with dimmed lighting that gave it a romantic, cozy feel even though it was hard on the eyes once I stepped back outside. Entering was confusing as there are stairs on the outside but when you try to go in the doors were locked. You had to enter the hotel and take the elevator to the restaurant. This cozy and romantic restaurant is located inside the Revere Hotel in Boston. Tables are comfortable and roomy and you can have private conversations private. We just wanted some bites and drinks and this fit the bill. However they do have a full extensive menu. The winner was the flatbread followed by the mussels. Both were delicious and a must try. The chowder was good but needed more liquid. Went to the Rebel's guild a few times these past few days because it was convenient and connected to my hotel. Went there for breakfast three times and dinner once. I got the revere breakfast the first day and it was good. The eggs were a bit too runny for my tastes but overall good. Second day I got the blueberry pancakes, and they were decent as well. For dinner same day I got the burger. I asked for medium rare and got medium. Regardless it was a good burger and was juicy. Last breakfast I had was the orange zest waffles. It was the better of the foods I had. I liked the orange flavoring and also the bacon was crispy which I love. There was always space for getting a table with my group, and service was good as well, only a few times slow. Overall a decent place to grab a bite to eat read more

Not worth your time to be honest. Please read the other reviews regarding service, it was our same experience. We arrived for breakfast where they were obviously overwhelmed but no one came to the host stand or to address the line of about 6 people waiting. We finally went in and grabbed a server to ask if there was a host, they said "oh yea there should be" and walked away. We finally got sat and then got our orders slightly wrong but not enough for us to not eat it. I will say that they did look as if they were understaffed or had some call outs. But it was chaos. They did come out meal at the end and after the big group that looked like a convention or something left they looked more under control. Just be wary that they may not be able to handle big crowds at all and it hurts the experience of the other diners. Nice hotel, but the restaurant could use some help. read more

My friends and I went here for $1 oysters. We ordered more than 30 $1 oysters. We were thinking of getting more, but they ran out. The oysters were good for $1 each. I wouldn't pay more than $3 each for them because quite a few of them had shell pieces and the oysters weren't exceptional. The server didn't seem happy to take our order. Poor service. Ignored upon entry, had to find a staff person to seat us. Should have left at that point. Seated on the patio, ordered a drink and no one returned to us for 20 minutes. Drink utterly forgotten. There were other people getting service on the patio at the time. We headed back inside and sat at the bar where there were at least 15 seats and only 4 customers. The bartender said hello and that he would be with us in a few minutes. Our original waiter saw that we came inside and overheard my sister say she had ordered a drink but it never came. The waiter then hastily made the drink, handed it to her while wiping his nose and gave zero apology. The bartender was Uber stressed so we decided to leave. This restaurant is in the Revere Hotel, after checking in we stopped in for a few drinks and a bite to eat. We got there around 4pm so it was not crowded at all so we had no difficulty getting seated. We were a group of 11 and we figured it would be just as easy every else we went. We enjoyed some delicious New England Clam Chowder. After all we were in New England! The service was excellent and all the dishes were really good including Paul's Balls! Funny name for a dish of meatballs but they were definitely good. However, I should have done some research before going to Boston on getting reservations for dinner because we had much difficulty finding places to eat after this place. There seems to be insufficient number of restaurants in Boston. Coming from New York City/New Jersey where there is a diner every few blocks it was amazing how difficult it was to even get breakfast! read more

We were staying at the Revere hotel and meeting up with various family in town for a special occasion. We dined here on Mother's Day for Brunch. Our server/ bartender was great and made great drinks (we had the Freedom Flask: Four Roses bourbon with spiced pear cocktail which was rather like an old school punch, and the RG Signature old fashioned which was perfect.) Our table ordered smoked salmon flatbread, the Morning Glory flatbread, which had sausage, bacon, and fried egg, and the North End flat bread which had ricotta, prosciutto and sweet roasted red peppers. The flat breads were delicious. We also had the short rib hash and the Cure burger both good. An order of the blueberry pancakes also didn't disappoint. Out of convenience because we're hotel guests, we chose Rebels Guild for breakfast. The only option was a breakfast buffet. The buffet included scrambled eggs (likely powdered) bacon, undercooked sausage, weak coffee and the typical yogurt, cereals etc. the price was an astonishing $53. Total gouge! Restaurant staff usually ask how our meal was. Nobody asked us this question. They know how it was, I guess. This is a one and done for us. Went there for brunch and while the food was quite good, drinks nicely made and the service really attentive, we were somewhat underwhelmed by several aspects: (we were incentivized to come by an Instagram post by @bostonfoodgram and the place did not really live up to the hype she created with her post!) a) we reserved via OpenTable which was the only option available to us (no one picked up when we called to reserve); b) we got a confirmation of the reservation and then got there and were told the place didn't open until 12 pm(!) even though we were confirmed for 11.30 am! c) the place was empty - for a Saturday lunchtime we were the only ones there for the entire hour we had brunch! d) the terrace that was advertised as open(we asked for a terrace table) was in fact closed for what seemed like an indefinite period. The manager set us out on the balcony because their rooftop bar where my original reservation was at was closed for a private event. He said that he would take care of us to make up for the mistake. (They didn't notify me in advance about the cancellation and failed to let anyone know before 6:30pm!!) We sat out on the balcony for over 25 min and decided to leave since it was apparent that no one would be there to serve us. I caught the manager on the way out and let him know what had happened. Made a brunch reservation and was surprised to see it almost empty at 11:00 on a Sunday. Looked understaffed and the few that were there didn't seem very motivated or skilled. Lots of tables which needed to be cleared/wiped down. The bartender came to our table to take our order. He said he made a fresh pot of coffee for us but it was some of the worst coffee I've ever tried to drink, so I sent it back. The two stars is one for each experience. This review is for two experiences. First was just to grab two glasses of wine. Friday night two bar tenders in the weeds so bad, they would need a bushwacker but in there case a barback to help them. 20 minutes later and the bar tender looking at me three times we were able to get our two glasses of wine from the barback. The second time was the next night for dinner. Got a reservation on open table, super easy not busy at all... we sat down and were promptly met by our waitress. Hopefully she will be better in her next career. Sat down at 7pm she promptly came over... returned 22 minutes later to get our drink order... enough time for my wife to go up to our room get her glasses and return with 10 more minutes before she would return. Food was good three stars. Do not get the meat ball appetizer. Dry not good. Saw the waitress about 4 or 5 times the entire meal. Hotel is great, this place not worth going to. read more

One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a bar/restaurant. The place was literally empty and I asked to sit in a booth. The first waiter said ok but seemed to have an issue since I was only having cocktails. About 15 mins of waiting another waiter with a poor attitude approached and took my drink order. Basic martini which was not on the menu. When I got the check it was $50 for 2 martini's I questioned it and the manager approached and said that was indeed the correct price and that "Boston is expensive". And we don't give discounts on liquor in the city. All of which she delivered with a poor attitude. Since the price wasn't listed it could be discounted since the price was literally just made up and I was told I would get a company discount at the desk downstairs and I got no discount and the waiter tried to add a 20% too for himself for serving 2 drinks with an attitude. Seriously, go anywhere else. The atmosphere was terrible due to the staff. read more

You hate to leave a bad review but when the place is so understaffed for lunch on a Saturday that that you can sit in an establishment for 2.5 hrs (11:30-2pm) and not get offered any service isn't great. To be fair I was engaged in an online class for most of my time there, which I presumed was okay given the table with outlets present and another person who walked in to work about the same time. I looked for staff a myriad of times until I walked up to the bar to start with a basic water request. When I went up for a refill, the sole staff member seen working told me she didn't want to refill it. At that point I told her I would be happy to order something and then sat down to return to my work. 10-15 minutes later I got up to retrieve a menu, at which point the server (maybe bartender doing more than her designated duties) told me I could have asked for a menu when I got up and requested water, which is true but this place isn't an order at the bar then find your seat kind of place, it is a wait for a staff to wait on you kind of place, and every other table, including the only other table of one was greeted and served in that manner. So really just rudeness all around, then I sat with a menu for another 45 minutes until I left, hungry and thirsty. Having never been visited at my table or asked what I wanted to order. So, I dunno their already 3.5 star review makes sense. The place does have a lovely ambience and I guess if you're a man or a large group the staff will be interested in serving you. read more

Great food, great ambiance. We enjoyed the Brie as an appetizer which was wonderful and the currants were a nice added surprise. Burger was delicious, served piping hot with amazing flavor and perfectly seasoned fries. The crab cake was divine, no added fillers just real crab meat on a bed of arugula! Cheers to the chef here!! Cool vibe going on here. The decor was an edgy colonialist mix with illuminati symbols hidden around the rooms. Oh yeah; great food too. The strip steak was really tasty, although a bit on the tough side. The cornbread in a skillet was sweet and just a tad crispy on the edges. Wife said the chowder was excellent and the salmon fresh.
