Cheapest of the cheap! This place is a like a thrift store, but for computers - extremely informal. Some of the reviewers seem like they'd be the type to walk into a Goodwill and expect Nordstrom quality products and customer service. The disconnect is not with the place of business, but with your expectations. They are not a pawn/consignment shop, and they are definitely not a Best Buy. Sometimes things are tested before being put out for sale, sometimes not - if you're curious, just ask; if you want to test it, expect to be turned down but ask anyway. Their repair price is $85/hr and they charge by the half-hour (thus why a previous comment said $42.50/hr). If you only come here for the $1 cables and old stuff, this is the only place like it and you will fall in love! read more

Re-PC is a great resource but the service is hit or miss as they clearly hire their staff for technical knowledge first and general social skills last. Still, on the whole, RE-PC is a valuable local business. First, the good: if you need a random computer or electronics part, and you need it NOW, these guys probably have it. One time I went in on a whim, looking for a 2.5" to 3.5" internal sata dock. I'm not even sure if that's the term for it, basically it's an incredibly obscure part that only tech-savvy people would even know it existed. Not only did they have it, it was 9 bucks! 9 bucks. In an era where most brick and mortal retailstores feel the need (incorrectly) to heavily markup their products in order to "compete" with places like Amazon, this was a breath of fresh air. The guy knew he had me by the **** -- and he just said 9 bucks. Now, the bad: Sometimes,, nobody in this store seems to know exactly what is going on. It could be with the status of your repair, it could be with the status of your receipt or how much to charge (it could even be with the status of the doors as another reviewer pointed out). Furthermore, the staff usually tends to drone on loudly amongst themselves rather than immediately help the person standing at the counter. And lastly: the rest: they recycle for free almost any computer and electronic part from the last 20 years. I don't know what exactly happens to it (does it just go into some "eco friendly" landfill in Africa?) but it's better than throwing it in the garbage. They also have a good selection of tools, for do-it your-self-ers. I'm glad that RE-PC exists, and it's a great resource for the tech savvy and non-tech savvy alike. Gripes with the service aside (and perhaps the non-tech savvy should beware) they have a great selection of parts and provide a great recycling service. Went here yesterday for another charger for my computer and this time I got a new one instead of a used one like last time.

What a find! A guy at Office Depot actually told me about it. I wanted a "discman" for our toddler to listen to CDs and books on cd on a flight. Goodwill didn't have anything that worked. Re-PC had one and I I'l y paid $15! It's a Panasonic, great sound and in good condition. I'll definitely head back when I am in need of electronic gear. read more

Just wanted to give a shout-out of thanks to the crew at RE-PC. I bought a desktop computer, and when it started to give me troubling behavior (bad power unit?), I returned it for a repair. Even though it was nearly a MONTH PAST THE WARRANTY DATE, they repaired it for free. Works great now. I started going to this store back in February of 2014. Back then, I would have rated this store 4.5. Nowadays however, it's just gone way downhill. The prices used to be really great; you could find awesome deals all the time on vintage electronics/computer parts and accessories. Kind of like an all-electronics/computer thrift shop. Now, it appears every single freakin' item they receive they look up on eBay to price them. That's fine and all, but considering they get most of their items for free from people recycling, and the fact that nearly 99.9% of everything are labeled "AS IS WITH NO RETURNS", the eBay prices they are charging for everything are just ridiculous. At least on eBay, you have the ability to know if the item works and you have 30 days of hassle-free returns. To make matters more insulting, RE:PC additionally states that NO TESTING IS ALLOWED ON AS IS ITEMS. Thankfully, the RE:PC store in Tukwila isn't a culprit of this (at least for the majority of their items). So you want actual good deals, go to the Tukwila store instead. read more

Watch out for scamming error greedy cashier. 1) Tried to charge as if the item is new, when it's used and untested. 2) Overcharge by scamming error. 3) Attempted to charge based on bogus power he tried to come up on the fly. Instead of looking up the price list. 4) After scam failed, the young man tried to reason the buyers usually give bogus price. I told him, I just talked to your manager. 5) He took the item and the manager told him to charge me 100% less than he attempted to charge. This store hires new unprofessional scammers. I've been to RePC a number of times over the years, almost always very helpful, and providing me with technology that I can afford, which is no small feat. There's one dude who really can't be arsed to do much, but everyone else is really great. Special shout-out to Cal, who guided me through the process of picking out a printer. He really knew his stuff, and for about $35, I got everything I needed, plus he threw in some paper for me. Also kudos to Josh in repair and a bearded dude with glasses whose name I didn't catch but who looks as if he's in charge. Went in to this location a few times to have parts on my laptop fixed or upgraded. As far as selection goes, this place can't be beat. They have a ton of everything. Unfortunately the last time I went in to have a hard drive swapped out I encountered a problem with the staff. I went in on a Saturday to drop off my computer, was told by the person helping me that there were no Apple's 'on the bench' so I could expect that the technician would be able to look at it very quickly. I was quoted half an hour of 'bench time' both over the phone and by the person that took my computer initially. When I put my work order in I was told that the amount would not exceed $140 and if it did that they would call me before they did the work. When I went in to pick the equipment up I was told I owed $190, and when I questioned the amount the cashier IMMEDIATELY referred me to someone else instead of trying to resolve my issue himself. The technician that did the work on my computer told me that I get charged a different rate for when he's actually touching the computer versus when he sets the computer up to do something (cloning the drive). I pointed out to him that I was not told this before I left the computer, and that I never received a call about the increase of the price. He told me that he'd talked to someone about it, but as I had been out of town with no cellular service that person was not me. When I mentioned that the work order is a binding contract he got huffy and went in the back. A few minutes later he came out, and said "I changed it, are you happy?" in a very condescending tone. He then proceeded to tell me that he had not done all of the work that I had asked for (wiping the old drive). I thanked him for his understanding, and told him that he was really saving my ass - to which he replied "I don't really care if I'm saving your ass, and if I had been actually touching the computer your ass would be paying". He then forcefully handed me my receipt and acted like I had done him some sort of disservice by requiring him to uphold THEIR contract. I will not be returning to this store again. read more

I've gone in here a couple of times, but I'm kind of techie and know why I'm there. I've never had any worker bother me (good or bad?), but have thought that their prices for new components are ridiculous. I needed a 256mb stick of pc100 laptop ram and they wanted to sell it for $40....off to ebay and $7 later I'm a happy person (and even then I thought that was much). $1-$2 for used cables..meh, not bad. $2 for keyboards/mice..Seriously though, I don't know where else in Seattle they have sooo much computer parts in one big warehouse. I guess if you wanted to scrap parts, free stuff on CL doesn't hurt. Or you could go to Goodwill and feel good about where your $$ went (I got two "broken" WRT54GL routers for $8 :) Overall, they've been pretty good and save me a 20+mile trip to Fry's in Renton...Don't even mention Best Buy..(...shivers..) read more

Well...it is certainly easy to find their SODO location, and they seem to have a decent inventory of stuff at reasonable prices. And the staff is clearly knowledgeable and can provide you with good customer service in finding what you want/need. I used their repair shop and it was a pretty mediocre experience at best. I feel like the work got done right but I feel like I overpaid significantly ($300) and that they are more worried about mitigating their liability ("I don't recommend it and if we lose lost all your data we're not responsible.") than about your satisfaction. I brought my computer in for repair (viruses) and then had to return to bring them a separate plug-in hard drive that they could use to back up my data. So I bought one for about $100. Why don't they have one of their own? Then, instead of reloading my data back onto my computer, they expected me to load it back myself from the portable hard drive I gave them. I won't go back. By the way, I can highly recommend 3R computer also in SODO. They are A LOT nicer and I am totally kicking myself that I didn't call and ask them to recommend someone who could have repaired my PC. God, what I wouldn't give to have a really, really good computer repairman I could call for help and advice and really count on. The search continues! read more

I really wish I had read these reviews before I took my Powerbook G4 to them for a simple hard drive swap. These guys are STRANGE. Kind of an all-Asperger's staff. When I told the ponytailed boy that I needed a new hard drive, and asked what he had available, etc., he looked at me blankly as if I were leaving out some totally significant piece of information, like, "An XGR multichannel rabbitstart with Cranapple Protocol, clockable at 8900 RPM." I left it with them for a week until Appleboy could get to it. When they had it "ready" for me almost a week later, the spacebar, delete key, apostrophe, and some other keys in the Northeast quadrant no longer worked. They also told me that my optical drive was crapping out. and that there was "corrosion on the keyboard." The keyboard and optical drive worked perfectly before taking it to these doofi.-and there was no corrosion on the keyboard. Three trips to this VERY inconvenient (for me) location (I live near Green Lake and don't cherish facing Mariners traffic after 8 1/2 hours of work), and I'm left with a laptop with a nonfunctional keyboard - and now, lo and behold, it won't load Safari. I can use an external keyboard, but it doesn't solve the problem completely, anyway, and kind of defeats the purpose. It's now a very expensive DVD player (And without Blu-Ray!). Oh, well- Live and learn. DO NOT PATRONIZE, MATRONIZE. or FRATERNIZE these dorks. I honestly don't care all that much about their collective smell and inappropriate social skills, but I do wish they could have performed what I think should have been a reasonably simple task without leaving me with a laptop that cannot be used to even check my mail or peruse the news. I love this store. I currently have Comcast cable and internet. I have to pay $10 a month to rent their cable modem/router. I do not want to pay this monthly rental fee any longer and decided to either buy a cable modem/ router combo or a router and cable modem separately. I chose the later because in the event that one of these items malfunctions it won't have an affect on the other item. I paid $5 for a gently used cable modem with out an adapter. I paid $3 for the wireless router with the adapter included. Both items are Linksys products. I had to buy an adapter for the cable modem and it was $1.95. My total purchase price was $10.91. Now I am going to return the wireless router I ordered online from Walmart asap! I saved so much money. What a bargain! The next time I need any electronics I will shop here. They have gently used electronics that are in decent shape. Please give them a try. read more

I wanted to add more memory to several computers at my business. I know a little about computer hardware and I'm not afraid to roll up my sleeves so I gave Re-PC a call. They asked a number of questions over the phone to make sure they had what I was looking for. Looked like they did so I headed down there. It is nice they are open until 7pm because the traffic was horrible the day I went. Anyway, when I got there they were pretty busy so I did have to wait a few minutes but they were very helpful and I thought of a couple of other things I could use while I was there. I was advised to get what was a good printer for me even though the my other possible choice was more expensive. They also took the time the make sure that everything I walked out with was in working condition. The guy I worked with even threw in a reusable cloth bag and gave me his contact information incase I had any problems or questions. I own a retail store and I believe this is how the customer should be treated. They will surely see me again. read more

This place has been an AWESOME resource..especially when budgets are so tight!! I had a virus and some other issues with my laptop and rushed it to Re-PC. One of the resident Guru Techie's (Curt) was fantastic about getting my laptop in shape with a quick and AFFORDABLE turnaround time!!! Not only that, but I had some issue reloading Microsoft Office once I got back home and he spent an unbelievable amount of time to help me work out some quirks that were ever so "Microsoft"!!! He even stayed well after quitting time to stay on the phone to make sure I was up and running for my business!! Seriously...these guys get 5 STARS from me!!! read more

They are helpful one of the tech guys even pulled my hard drive out and put it in a box for my other computers to use. I have been running my own business since 2002 and can safely say the staff at RE-PC Recycled Computers in SODO, hands, down offered me the best service, price, and turn around time ever. I first phoned with an extreme ermgency (an integral PC was not working in my office and the configuration and files located on the PC made it crucial that I have the unit repaired that day). I found them via Google, called ahead, and they told me they would look at it as soon as I arrived. Long story short, my PC was repaired, the C drive cleaned up a bit, and some good advice received about cleaning up the hard drive in under an hour (45 minutes). The price: $52 including parts and labor. The staff was friendly, offered to assist me with other issues I described (which were less important) and offered estimates for those other items as well. The free parking is nice too. After a decade of being 'soaked' my IT conslutants, it's refreshing to find honest, hardworking, professional "techies" who clearly enjoy their work.
