My review is only for my experience dropping off donations, which was probably more 3 star, but I think it is clear from other reviews that this is a great organization, so I wouldn't want to penalize one aspect of their service for another that was still fine. Drop off was particularly easy. There is parking and you just drop it on a cart near their loading dock area. They could be a little more involved in receiving their donations on-site. This was my first electronics donation and some items that were not completely wiped due to damage, so I would have liked some reassurance that once the items were fixed they would be wiped and secure. Their website does state this, but being able to hand them to someone who can review their process would be a nice touch. It was clear the person at the loading dock had other responsibilities and only had periphery knowledge about what happens to the donations. Overall, I'm glad there are places like this and the positive reviews made me feel like this was a good place to donate to. I'm just hoping that impression was right! read more

They offer classes that teach folks how to build their own computer and receive one at the conclusion so I have recommended them to several friends on a budget and who want to learn more about technology. They recycle computers, printers, monitors, and peripherals. Drop off is easy and the staff is friendly. If you are planning on buying something, drop off a donation first and get a discount coupon. If you are in the market for a business computer, they have several available as well as more personal machines. First off wonder cause! I'd like to thank their customer service for going over and beyond for me! They came highly recommended from a friend who owns a small IT firm. Desperately needed to purchase a laptop to WFH. Work didn't have any extras; needed a quality product at a reasonable price! Had product in my shopping cart, decided to call before placing order to confirm they were handling online orders and shipping timeframe (live in Chicago). Their service was amazing! A really great resource. I first found them when I needed to get rid of an old Dell desktop and wanted to do it responsibly, cheaply, and safely (since I don't know how to scrub a hard drive of all personal info). InterConnection has a cool hard drive destroyer thing that basically drills holes in your computer's guts. When I was there dropping off the computer, I noticed they also had a little showroom of refurbished laptops and things. So when I decided I wanted a netbook, but didn't want to pay $450, I thought, what about a cheap laptop? And remembered InterConnection. I had a good experience getting a mobile hotspot from Interconnection last summer, but I've had a terrible experience since my hotspot, which I depended on as my home internet connection, stopped working three weeks ago. No one at Interconnection will answer my phone calls or emails requesting help restoring data to my hotspot so I can be online again. I've called both staff members in tech support nearly every other day for three weeks, emailed the staff member who helped sell me the device, and spoke to someone in retail who said he'd leave a note for the tech support staff notifying them that I needed help. I haven't heard a single thing back. I bought my mobile hotspot late last August, and paid upfront for a year's worth of internet service. My hotspot stopped working on June 2, 2017, nearly three months before my service should have ended. I think the problem is that my hotspot device had originally been activated in June 2016, and this has stopped working a year later, even though the year I paid for should you go through August 2017. The sad thing is I would like to keep using the hotspot internet connection Interconnection offers, but at this point I'm losing hope that I'm ever going to hear back from a staff member who can help me get my service restarted. read more

On this sad, sad morning, my kitten managed to destroy my flat screen TV. (Yes, I kept her. Apparently I love the little terror). Anyway, this is where I took it to get recycled. They do do repairs at this facility and the guy who accepted it from me confirmed that it was not refurbishable, and it was nice to know for sure instead of wondering if there had been a cheap fix for it. He confirmed that they have green practices and were happy to give me a receipt for tax purposes. I have an old laptop I haven't decided what to do with, but if I do decide to recycle it, InterConnections is where I will go. The people at InterConnection are honest, super helpful and straightforward. They have all the hardware and computer skills you'll need to resolve your machine's issues. I took my PC in a few weeks ago when my monitor was blipping out, after testing it, they sold me and installed a new video card for all of $12.50. A week or so later, I had a corrupt OS which they took the time and energy to clarify the depth if the issue, save my data and get me a new hard drive and clean OS installed. They fixed it in a timely manner and had it back to me in no time. Again, very affordable, well under $100 and I can't go on long enough about how nice everyone is there. I recommend InterConnection to anyone with Mac or PC needs. They recycle and sell high quality, affordable laptops, desktops, Macs and PCs to regular and low income folks. I'm writing this review on my laptop that I bought through Interconnection. Although their site forewarns it may take up to 10 business days to process an order before they send it, they processed and shipped mine within a week. This laptop was graded "B" for some cosmetic issues, but the keyboard, screen and performance seem top notch. To get a certified, refurbished business-class laptop for under $300 is impressive. It's great getting a solid deal on a refurbished laptop with Office installed and licensed (at no extra cost), plus knowing I can get personalized help if needed with a quick email. Do you have an old computer you can't figure out how to dispose of? Does it still work? Do you loathe the thought of paying to have a perfectly usable machine scrapped? Instead of stuffing your old system in a closet or shelling out a bunch of money for permission to throw it out, take it to InterConnection and put your old computer to good use! InterConnection is a non-profit organization that reuses and refurbishes old computers. They will take your old system, use it to train people on how to maintain computers and then give the refurbished system to a person or community in need. Another awesome thing about InterConnection is that working computers and monitors less than 5 years old will be taken free of charge. They seem to be a little squishy about this rule, because I'm pretty sure the Dell I took to them was 6 years old, but they took it without a problem. Granted, I kept it in really good shape. If you have an older or a non-functional computer, don't worry. InterConnection will take that too! If they can't reuse it, they will recycle it in-house... meaning it wont be shipped as scrap to Asia to end up polluting the other side of the Earth. Recycling fees are either $5 or $10 per item. You don't even need to worry about clearing your own data. They will nuke your hard drive for you using methods that meet DoD standards. You can get your computer to InterConnect by mail, drop-off, or if you're in Seattle, paying a $35 pick up fee. The drop-off facility is located on N Pacific St. Just north of Lake Union. You don't need to call ahead. Just show up during business hours. Take note however... There is only room for 1 car to pull up in front of the building, so you may have to haul your system a little ways on foot. We are SO lucky to have InterConnection in Seattle! Interconnection is a certified green recycler of computers; an exceptionally rare service, since most "e-waste recyclers" just dump your used computer in some poor Chinese village where it'll be burned in the open and have gold or other valuable metals extracted from them. Never trust a service where you can do a "free drop off" of your e-waste, that isn't an E-Steward certified location. Good thing Interconnection is. Their drop-off process is easy, and you'll likely find a great new computer there for a really good deal. While their selection of Macs is slim, they have a large pool of new, or refurbished laptops, computers, and peripherals. They also do a discount for nonprofit organizations! My organization got an older, 2001 model, refurbished Apple laptop for just $90. read more

Communication problem. On a Monday night I paid for a laptop online to pick up. You have to wait two-three days after you pay, for it to arrive at the Fremont Store. That in itself is ridiculous. But YOU MUST CONTACT THEM, apparently, to find out if it's there, because nobody contacted me. By Thursday evening, after my third email to them, asking is it ready and no response, just deafening silence - plus one phone call where the guy couldn't figure out my question - "Is my laptop ready for pickup?" I'd had enough. I emailed a scathing complaint. We'll see how long it takes to get a refund. The last laptop I got here was trouble throughout the life of it. Don't waste your time. I know it's for a good cause and all. There are plenty of other good causes to support. Okay, so I called for a refund. Two guys I spoke with were nice enough. About not responding to my emails, I was told, "Oh, sorry, I've been away from my computer all week." Are you kidding me? So nobody steps in for you to answer questions??? This is just nuts. I asked for a confirmation number - "Sorry, I don't have one." Pleasant fellow, but I have no words. This complete lack of concern for customers is unheard of today. I can only attribute it to they don't need retail business. Worked out great in the long run. I decided to get a chromebook that are way cheaper and perform just fine for my needs. Gets better. I went to Best Buy online picked one out for store pickup. But the 13th, 5 days out was the earliest it would be there. So I went amazon Prime. They had the same laptop for $10 less. THEN I took amazon up on the "If you are approved for our credit card, we'll knock $40 off." So I did and I was and now I have a BRAND new laptop for $200. and saved $50 bucks over Best Buy. This is where DSHS sends you if you are a low-income senior or disabled person with computer needs. So you can get a cheap computer that works okay. You can get your basic computer needs met, have questions answered by generally knowledgeable staff. But don't expect a mini tidbit more than that. Three young reps sat or stood at the counter and did not move an inch as they watched me struggling to load equipment into/onto my walker, then try to open the door, maneuver the walker one-handed across the high door jamb into the store. What has happened to this new generation?? But what is really unbelievable to me is that they have a contract with an online company that no doubt provides affordable wifi service, but they will only accept payments with a credit card. One cannot pay cash to Interconnection for equipment or service that you get from Interconnection, and only by going in person to the Interconnection store, nevermind how difficult or inconvenient that may be. How utterly stupid and rude is it to expect people with low income to all have credit cards?!! These people need to re-think what service they are providing to what target group in society and question whether they are just paying lip-service and meeting some basic guidelines, or whether they truly want to help and be helpful, in which case they need to re-examine how they do business and how they train their staff to behave. read more

If you live in the downtown South Lake Union area don't get internet service!!! Was ok at first in 2017. After a year it reduced to an average of 2.5 Mbps. Now there has been a tower down for 3 months and it averages under 0.01 Mbps. Mobile Citizen said I would be reimbursed. Sprint said I would be reimbursed. Have case numbers. One of the internet(which is separate from the main store) guys Mr. Ferran was adamant about no compensation. Was not interested in retaining a customer. Sounded like he didn't care at all. I could not love this business more. Over the years, I have bought multiple computers from them, as well as computer speakers and other items. Super, super honest. They never try to up-sell anyone, and I have seen them work with elders unfamiliar with technology and they've been very patient and kind. I purchased an HP laptop from them in May 2018. It took a week for it to be ready for pick up. Then they charged my credit card twice, which I called and emailed to get remedied. No one answers the phone. Finally they removed the extra charge from my card. When I finally got my hands on the laptop i couldn't figure out how to activate Windows. It came with ZERO instruction to simply look for a sticker under the computer for a code. Finally got that taken care of. Then I got an error message that I needed to do update the software. I tried to do that but it was interrupted in the middle and as a result nothing would work on it. Over 5weeks with this piece of crap laptop and they wont take it back. So I brought it to the store and they tell me it needs to be wiped clean. And it will cost me $32. I paid the fee, took it home today, re-set up Windows. Now the fingerprint reader doesn't work. I cant change the desktop pic because I don't have a specific "app". The windows button that tells you what programs you have closes before I can scroll on it. Unless you work in tech and know how to fix these dumb software issues DO NOT buy from Interconnection. They are useless and will charge you $$ to do nothing. I have NEVER had these problems with my 9 year old Dell. They are giving a bad name to nonprofit tech companies. My partner is bringing it back to them tomorrow. Ok, so I read a lot of these reviews before heading out there. I had an hour drive into Seattle, so honestly I hoped it would be worth it. When I got there, the store wasn't crowded. I walked up to the front desk and Seamus and Nico (hope I spelled both of those names right) were working the front desk. Seamus was pleasant and asked what they could help me with. I told him what I needed (several items) and what my budget was. He listened, walked me around the store giving me many different options to choose from. He heard what my budget was, and EXCEEDED it (in other words, I saved money here and was able to buy a used XBOX too for super cheap, TOTALLY unexpected... got a controller for it, as well). He was kind and just cool about everything. I'm a single mom with a three year old so I needed to stay in my budget. When we finally walked back up to the desk with all of my items, Nico smiled at me, and we chatted a short bit, as well. They ended up saving me more money than I thought I'd save. I ended up buying something else (the xbox) because I had a very decent amount of money left in the budget I'd created for the trip. I was super happy. They were so very helpful and nice. Kinda blew my mind. So, for anyone out there who had a bad experience, it sucks to read that, and I hope it was resolved for you, somehow. But I have to seriously give them a glowing report. So I got a laptop from them and the screen broke. So I took it in and they want to replace the hard drive. " The HDMI is completely cracked open and the opposite side is vulnerable as well damage to the frame and the warranty is not a protection one. Fortunately I was conversing with the repair tech and he said that while the computer is completely not covered under the hardware warranty, he could salvage the hard drive and install it into the next pc you buy." I've been to this place numerous times, bought a number of computers from them too. Stopped by today to replace a broken laptop, was looking, and turning some on. Employee came over and told me I couldn't do that.....turn them on, something to do with licensing. I mentioned that "I've NEVER bought a used car without driving it." To sum up my experience, I purchased an A grade computer from this store on 12/19. Even though the store manager informed me the computer was 30% off, a sales associate (Kat) rang up my purchased without the discount. When I asked her about the sale, she rudely asked me "Why would you think the computer was on sale?'. After telling her not only was there signage but also her manager informed me of the sale, she stated she had previously sold two other computers that were not on sale. Even after the manager confirmed the computer was on sale, the sales associate did not offer any form of apology; she simply stated, "You're lucky you waited for him." I noticed some glitches with the computer on 12/20 and returned to the store with hopes of resolving this issue. However, a sales associate informed me the issue was caused by my internet provider even though I had never experienced this type of issue before with other computers I have owned in the past. On 12/28, the computer issues persisted then my computer shut off without warning and would not power on even after charging it for hours. On 12/27 I returned to the store to return the computer, but the store refused to accept my return because stating they could not accept it because it was two days after their return policy window. During this visit the manager became involved and ultimately refused to complete my return because it did not fit with the "store standards". Since then, the computer only stays charged for 30 minutes once powered on. My advice to you: Don't buy a computer here! It is not worth it. Overall, this business's customer service is atrocious, especially one sales associate. In my time at the store, I heard other people experiencing battery issues like mine. However, the store does not cover any battery issues. Also, the customer service is atrocious. I have worked with Treehouse before, and I am surprised they even partner with a place that has employees who speak to their customers the way I was spoken to. This store purposely targets low income individuals and families to sell them merchandise with issues. I am quite sure a loss like mine ($300) would significantly affect individuals and families that fall into this category. As a result, I will not be returning to this store and have shared my experience with my friends and coworkers. read more

I bought a computer here for $250 last year and it died. I brought it in to be repaired and they didn't seem to do any type of diagnostics other than plugging it. They apathetically told me it was "toast" and they might be able to recover then hard drive but they didn't have to right cord to do it. I was offered 20% off my next purchase. Why would I spend another dime somewhere that sells computers that only last a year? I looked up models they have in store and they are overpriced. I got really cheap internet through these guys. They offer a super cheap prepaid plan that was like $80 a year, it was good enough to play Final Fantasy 14 on it and I lived downtown at the YWCA so my service was always great. Now that i'm more stable and I don't need the service any more, someone accidentally sent me an invoice for another year of service. Ooops! They apologised right away when I inquired as to what the invoice was for. Seriously, internet is awesome. lol I spent about $40-50 for the modem but it was cool cause you can plug it in anywhere and get internet as long as you can connect to the cell-phone towers. So yeah, I recommend these guys. As far as the person who had a bad experience here, well, it can't be perfect every time. Life sucks some days. But overall this place made my life nice.
