I have had an old Dell computer, printer and speakers sitting around for ages collecting dust. I dropped off all my items today in Wallingford and the staff was very helpful, the drop off process was a breeze and I was given a tax deduction form without even asking. I really want to praise this outfit but there are business practices relevant to for- and non-profit services. We purchased two computers here, before problems with the first one started. I use the problem computer in service to two nonprofits where I volunteer plus my own work. It was sold as "virtually unused", a test machine for Microsoft programs. About 1.5 years after purchase, the hard drive went bad. At the time, Computer Connection refused to fix it; unlike now, they didn't offer repairs even with payment, so I had to pay for a new HD plus more $$ to someone for transferring files/data. At this point, I didn't know the built-in camera did not work. A few months later, the cooling fan started to make noise. Same response from Interconnect. That fan continues to run, albeit noisily. About that time, I noticed the battery was progressively getting worse. Now, at 2.5 years, the battery is dead. I went in today and started to describe this mess and was told I was out of luck because the computer is too old but they offer repairs now--for a cost. Or, I COULD get 20% off on my next purchase, their standard offer to most customers. The ultimate issue? They sold me a computer built in Singapore and didn't tell me it would be difficult and expensive to maintain. I assumed parts could be had in the U.S. but they are not without a lot of trouble and expense. So, with a dead battery, noisy fan that could quit at any minute and nonworking camera, and after investing at least $150, I'm stuck with a curt salesperson who gave the the company line and then turned to the next customer. I came upon this wonderful place via the hazardous waste sight on Aurora. As I had old computer items to recycle, I drove to Interconnection. Imagine my surprise when I saw not only an impeccable recycling center but a sort of store, with tons of computers for sale (refurbished). Michael, a young man who knows computers inside and out, chatted with me about alternatives to buying a $2500 Mac for my son. When I brought my son in to chat with him, the two entered into a detailed conversation about technology, computers, apps - you name it. Ultimately, my son is having a customized computer made by Michael- at less than half the cost which we were considering. This place is awesome!!!!!!!!!! A fortuitous encounter ended up making both my son and I very, very happy, satisfied, and feeling good about buying recycled, quality goods. Before I explain my experiences with Interconnection, at least read about my Windows 10 upgrade nightmares detailed somewhere below. I've used Interconnection for years, and appreciate their prices and service, especially their 7-day return policy with a one-year warranty, but if you're on dial-up, they no longer sell refurbished computers with 56K modems. I found out only after trying to get online through AOL, and I had to go to the library to download installation software, called AOL techs numerous times, and when I went back to Interconnection, I had to drop off and return, only to find the modem they installed didn't work. They said they couldn't test the newly installed modem because they're on voice internet protocol, and I even bought a modem at Best Buy but that too didn't work, so I can't say Interconnection was to blame. Eventually, I bundled cable and high-speed internet with a 12-month discount, and I set up a reminder to renegotiate the same or similar pricing for next year. Now I'm getting both services for the same price when I only had cable, and I'm saving the $11.00 monthly charge for AOL who when I wanted to cancel service, their CSR tried five different ways to keep my business, even after I kept saying no. Interconnection's customer service manager is Preston and Cody the retail representative, both were helpful and informative, and aside from the time, distance, and hassle, it's well worth continuing to do business with them. For example, I saved a minimum of $164 compared to the cheapest new computer (only), whereas Interconnection provides a tower, 19" monitor, keyboard, and mouse for $79.99 before tax, which includes Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010. As for MS Office 2010, my system offered a free upgrade to Windows 10 but I had terrible problems about a week later, starting with my 10-key not working, then later in the day, the number keys above the letters. The strange part was having access to the top # keys, where I could type and see numbers in Word, but when I tried to access my email account, it didn't recognize my password. I started to research whether Microsoft over time, drops compatibility with older keyboards is a problem with Windows 10, but then decided to recover Windows 7. Unfortunately, upon reboot, I got stuck in the section indicating Windows can't start (black background with white lettering) so I chose to fix the problem, but that didn't work (it didn't work on HP Vista either), and when I instead tried to open manually, it kept coming back to the same screen. That's when Interconnection tested and swapped it out with another computer. Hopefully that will solve the problem, and I've had to close Firefox a couple of times due to freezing (Not Responding) and that seems to work. Also, I got 13 months of additional life out of a computer that was over five years old by resetting to Factory Default and reinstalling all programs but the last time the monitor wasn't displaying so research how to do that (blue screen upon start up closes fast, select F10 or F13 option, whatever gets you to Factory Default). read more

They deal with an ever rotating invintory of a vast array of electronics but they are able to answer questions and give great advice about what they have and electronics in general. Best of all, they have amazing deals. This is my first stop for electronics. I seriously appreciated being able to walk in and replace my broken phone for $50. Reduce, reuse, recycle. read more

They refused to fix my nonresponsive keyboard as well as my damaged screen just halfway into my year warranty. I now have a virtually unusable machine under a fake warranty. Waste of money and time. Disappointing customer service- not one solution was suggested. read more

Deceptive business. Promised me a computer with Microsoft Office Pro in writing. Did not include the program or the code. I notified them of the omission. They said my computer did not include the Office offer. I contacted the BBB with a complaint. BBB handled the situation. InterConnection then agreed to send me Office Pro and informed the BBB they would be sending me the program. Two weeks from their promise to the BBB, I have not seen the program or even heard from them. All talk, no integrity. Steer clear. read more

I love this place. Have purchased three computers from them over the years and brought six other people in - five of whom purchased computers. My last laptop had issues, but I took it back and they came up with a better-than-expected resolution. Stuff happens - it's how it's resolved that matters to me. David was very good to work with, and Mike is an all-star. Why not a fifth star? Difficult to access for a disabled person - stairs to entry, no chair to sit, if you need it. I suggested they get a cheap folding chair to have available, but so far that's not happened. Only other complaint is when it's busy, the clerk who's helping you will leave you "for a minute" to wait on the new, incoming customers and sometimes not get back to you for a while.. read more

I've used Yelp alot but never sent a review. But this is a company I wish I knew about long ago. Interconnection "recycles" computers and from my experience does a darn good job. My wife and I were looking for an inexpenisive laptop for our young daughter and found them on the internet. Their product is straight forward. folks bring in their old computers, they wipe them, fix them and sell them at a very fair price. I'm sending this review from the Dell D400 we bought for our daughter. Yes, I'll need to add some software, security etc but it is a very well rebuilt system and the staff was SUPER helpful. I'd give more stars if I could. One warning... they are rebuilds, the warrantys are limited to 30 days hardware so you need to add virus, spyware etc. read more

Sales/Repair guys were very helpful in picking out a computer. I got a discount because I'm on food stamps and they'll give a discount to anyone who is low-income. I bought a $250 Dell laptop but got 20% off because I turned in my old laptop for recycling, so in the end after taxes it was around $218. Definitely would recommend to anyone in the future. read more

I bought a Sprint wireless device through a Connect All program that a customer service agent walked me through the application for in the store. 16 days later I returned with the unit because it won't turn on and I was told in a matter of fact way that I could buy another one. I suggested it was a little ridiculous to drop another hundred on something I just bought 2 weeks ago, when I had to income-qualify for the program in the first place, and only then did they cold-heartedly give me a piece of paper with a phone number for customer service from another entity. Customer Service skills don't quite deserve one star but there isn't a lower rating. When I called said number no one answered but they return my message promptly and help me reset the device. It was a very easy fix that customer service associates should know how to do. Since they practically filled out the application for me they should take a tiny bit of responsibility and simply locate the reset button. It's not that difficult to be caring and understanding. read more

Buying a computer from this shop has got to be the WORST decision of my technical life! I had minor troubles with the desktop computer I bought there throughout the first year of use, but did not think much of it until the crash problem got worse. So, I finally called them. They told me to bring it in. They said the computer had a harddrive problem and would fix it as a courtesy even though it was at the end of the 1 yr warranty period. I was told I still had 30 days warranty after this last fix. So, when the computer continued to crash, I called and emailed asking them if I could bring it back in for them to look at the CMOS checksum bad error messages I was receiving, and why now the mouse was freezing up. They let me bring it back, but claimed they could not find the issue! Can you believe this!? I had already had a dozen crashes and they claimed they could not find the issue! Other shops I called to inquire about the problem said it was clearly a motherboard problem, and that they should have put that in instead of a harddrive to begin with. When I took back the computer, I told them I would take photos of the crash error messages to prove they were happening, but despite my sending them photos of these error messages, Interconnection refused to help further. They had the nerve to tell me to take this LEMON to another shop to get the problem fixed! They either have the worst, most incompetent tech support people in Seattle working there, or they have unethical and irresponsible policies for supporting what they sell. Either way, I REGRET EVER BUYING FROM THIS SHOP, will NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN, and WARN EVERYONE FROM EVER DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY!. read more

Ordered a refurbished iMac 20", in their certified quality it states " Our goal is to provide refurbished computers that are just as reliable and functional as new computers." Our non profit organization is EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with our computer. I have to type this review on my personal computer 1) Computer came with dust and all sorts of stains all over it- screen was in good condition though- so i thought I would test out the product. 2) SOOOO SLOOOWWW, and after about 3 hours of using the computer it starting freezing. 3) Has frozen 3 times while I am writing grants and have had to start all over on grants 4) You can only leave voicemails for customer service line, extremely frustrating. 5) NOn profits have to choose very carefully where we send our funding and we want to support others doing great things, very dissapointing when community funding gets wasted. 6) Hope they will send me a better product, hopefully this computer is a fluke in the system- but still very disappointing. read more
