I was really impressed with how clean and well organized the recycling area was. The staff were super friendly and helpful, they answered all my questions and made the process really smooth. Unfortunately, all the cardboard bins were full during my visit, so I was directed to the garbage area instead to use the cardboard recycling bin there. Just a heads up: It's VERY stinky in there, and I wasn't prepared for that part. I was wearing long pants, and they did get a bit wet from whatever was on the floor. It does look like the staff regularly cleans the floor area, which is probably why the floor was wet but still, not the most pleasant surprise! That's the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise, great experience and helpful service!

My local city had hosted a Styrofest before the pandemic. Since its cancellation, it has been a struggle to find a proper recycler for block Styrofoam that opens on the weekend. One magical place - the Shoreline transfer station serving King County residents! I read before going that they accept many types of residential recycling for free. We filled our car with blocks of Styrofoam that have been sitting in the garage for years, a collection of textiles that aren't usable, and a big bag of plastic bags and wrappers that meet the recycling requirements. Because they also take dump at a fee, we are stopped at the little kiosk. She sees our Styrofoam and immediately tells us to follow the blue line. The rest is super simple, keep driving until you see the container like bins with the open doors, stop, empty the car, and leave. FREE! A sign says let an employee know if the super-sized bags are full. Signs at each bin tell you exactly what is or is not acceptable; that information is also online. We are super happy with how easy and useful it was. If you are an ardent and adamant recycler like me, this place is magical!

Shopping here is a bit like the store itself: consistently chaotic, occasionally full of hidden gems, and always changing. As a result, every visit feels a bit different, which is exactly why I look forward to coming back every time. It's a dated location without the bells and whistles of the more modern ones with an abundant parking lot with tight spaces, and what feels like a never-ending line to donate via car. It was so significant that there is someone designated to help direct traffic. The store is massive. There are dedicated sections for electronics, art, books, home decor, furniture and what feels like endless aisles for accessories, clothes, and a limited selection of shoes. There are also bathrooms, but it was closed during my last visit (#1). Don't expect rock bottom prices as this isn't the cheapest Goodwill around. The staff isn't overly attentive, but they're efficient, especially when it comes to keeping the checkout line moving. Fortunately there are plenty of employees on hand, which is absolutely necessary given how hectic the donation area can get. __________ (#1) No, I don't want to imagine why.

On top of all that, their convoluted parking lot is so absolutely kafkaesque that it snarls neighborhood traffic for blocks in every direction as frustrated "customers" try to find their way out of a cruel science experiment that feels intentionally cruel and unusual. AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS--DO NOT BE A FOOL!

They got me onto a new machine for about half the price I was prepared to spend, checked specs and I was almost shocked at how easy it was. The employee 100% looks like he came out of 1965. He was polite, long-haired hippie, looking dude that solved my problem and looked up the specs on the program I wanted to run, and I feel very well taken care of. If you need a computer or a terminal or a monitor or an upgrade, I feel very confident that they would provide you excellent service high-quality hardware and we need to have more of these small businesses getting people to buy from them. Instead of trying to upsell me into a full laptop and the terminal in all of these parts, he sold me on a terminal a wireless Wi-Fi no monitor and it was very simple set up. They don't always pickup when they should, and it's a hassle to get one of their trucks to try again. And that retail shop on Aurora avenue? It's a nice idea, but every item is really pricey. And their in-store recycling service? They're very picky. I've tolerated it because they have managed to take some small appliances and batteries. But lately they've gotten more selective. They accept only certain parts of the appliances. They took a table top oven, but refused the metal baking rack? And they only accept one small batch of batteries, enough to fit inside a sandwich bag, and only if the contact ends are covered in shipping tape. Be SURE it's not scotch tape, or they will scold you! But don't tape the sandwich bag closed, or the lady will fuss over opening it to inspect everything. And you can't leave yet, they need to know your last name and address, in case you're trying sneak in from outside their service boundaries. Their certificate of destruction and their residential pickup services really sold it for me. I filled their online form late Saturday night, and wasn't expecting a reply until Monday (they're closed on the weekends) but to my shock one of their reps replied on Sunday and confirmed adding me to their route for a Monday pickup. They're not able to reserve a particular time slot/frame, you can request an ideal range but know if they can't arrive you'll need to go in person or reschedule to another day. If you do need to reschedule the pickup for a day with more flex, be sure to notify them right away so they can update the driver. For me, the flat fee was $75 but this could range for others (depending on items being picked up, distance, etc.). Payment was through an online portal, with a link sent in the scheduling email. I had originally requested pickup before 12pm, as timing would have it, I was delayed and was still at my apartment when the driver did arrive about 2 hours later.
