It wasn't difficult to find however, because there was a sign in front for CareTech and the building itself had signs with all the store names as well. I went around 5:00pm on Saturday and it was easy to find street parking although I'm not quite sure about the other days. It looks like they may have a back parking area as well. I messaged CareTech beforehand, asking if they can fix my broken laptop and they were really quick to respond! I accidentally spilled water over it back in August and fried my MacBook Pro. It seems my Logic Board is damaged and most likely my keyboard too (it's difficult to tell if the keyboard is damaged or not unless it's turned on but that's where I spilled water so... it's most likely done for). It seems like it really depends on the model to accurately quote replacement parts and sadly, Apple parts are crazy expensive. I got price quotes from several different places so I'm certain they're not overpricing me. Also, after talking to them, I don't think they're the types of people that would! For my case, data retrieval would have been $70/hour which is cheaper than most places I inquired! It seems it really depends on if/how much the hard drive was damaged and how hard it is to retrieve the data (internally). When I walked in, Charlie greeted me very warmly and he even remembered my name and situation from messaging me! There was one other person there at the time and they were both really friendly and helped me open up the laptop and take out my SSD. They talked me through different options and it seemed like they were genuinely interested in helping me diagnose the problem more than just making quick cash. Overall, from what I found, this place had really great pricing and awesome service. :)

A little over a week ago, my cat decided to water test my laptop. Long story short, a glass of water spilled into (!) my laptop. The laptop sat immersed in this pool of water for nearly 20 hours. Everything was complete toast. Although most of my files are in the cloud, especially the most important ones, I decided there might be the occasional file or folder that I might not notice tomorrow or even a year from now. I decided it would be best to retrieve the contents of the drive on the laptop for peace of mind. I left the laptop with them to do an assessment first. That assessment was ~$80. After their assessment, they indicated that the contents of the drive were retrievable and gave me an estimate of $400 to retrieve the contents of the drive (the $80 would apply to that figure). I decided it was worth the cost, if for nothing more than that elusive peace of mind. I also needed a drive to put the contents on (or provide my own). Since I didn't have one, and didn't want to bother with purchasing a 3rd party drive, they charged me $140 for a Toshiba Portable Storage device. So, for about $600 (w/ tax) I got everything off the lost drive. Was it worth it? Without a doubt. Would I go back? Hell yeah.

The experienced staff ordered a new battery and replaced it for me. Then they made sure my laptop was functioning correctly again before sending me home. The issue was a cooling fan seemed like it was failing. They got me a quote put together and I picked up the computer the following day so I could get everything backed up. The plan was that I would pay for the part, they'd order it, and they'd replace it when it arrived. Until then I could lightly use the computer. My company's IT is handled out of a corporate office on the east coast. As such, then dealing with hardware issues usually isn't feasible. But with a slow turn around on ordering the new fan, they thought they could get me a computer in half the time. So, I picked it up and didn't order the part. I told them what was going on and offered to pay for the diagnostics which was declined. I get it back to the office and it's fine. No more kazoo noises, at least for now. So, they fixed my computer and refused money for doing so. The next time we have a computer hardware issue, I'll be suggesting T.S. USA Computer Repair.
