Recently I was experiencing very slow download times on my laptop. The rumors are true: Dave is a very reliable, trustworthy, and helpful techie. My home computer wouldn't agree to turn on, and since I work from home, my work was severely hampered. I didn't know who to take my computer to for a fix other than the Geek Squad at Best Buy, who haven't been very helpful to me in the past. I figured I'd have to just suck it up and go buy a new, more compliant desktop computer that day. However, I checked with Yelp first just to see if there were any shops nearby that might be able to fix my computer. I'm really happy I came across PC Consulting. Dave was able to help me immediately. I brought him my computer, he tried a bunch of things to diagnose, and even though he confirmed that my motherboard had joined the Great Computer in the Sky, he was able to save my hard drive and memory and install it in a really inexpensive, temporary solution. He also gave me some great suggestions for my next computer even sending me a link to a great deal on Dell's website ($200 off!) for a computer ideal for my usage. He's a really nice guy. We chatted for a little bit more about geeky stuff before I took my temporary computer home to see if I could again VPN to my company. Success! Thanks to Dave, I was actually able to finish my work for the day, a feat I really didn't think I'd be able to achieve, let alone in just a few hours from when I discovered my original computer was dead. First of all I am not a techie...We had a wireless router & modem upgrade we needed to do and were a bit overwhelmed by all the options available. Dave gave us product suggestions ahead of time which was very helpful, and we bought them on the web to save money. (So he wasn't trying to cash in on a mark-up with the equipment.) Then for the actual appt he was on-time and very efficient. He made sure our security settings were correct and confirmed that the new equipment was optimized for our home's network. Furthermore, when I inadvertently switched a setting after he had left, he was quick with a follow-up call that saved the day. Despite his website sounding like sort of a bigger, run of the mill company, make no mistake Dave provides the small town attention to detail and pleasant attitude that should make anyone more than satisfied. Not all IT guys are created equal! Dave has been setting up our network, adding new hardware, and providing us with excellent IT solutions for the past several weeks. He has been a great find for my small electrical contracting business. Dave has collaborated with us by introducing new technologies that will help cut our overhead costs and reduce our paper consumption by 99%. He also took the time to research several apps, such as gps tracking, which will improve dispatching operations and make fleet utilization more efficient. I have lost track of how many years I have been using PC Consulting, at least ten but probably more. I connected with Dave through a client who used him for their IT services. I went and saw Dave based on the reviews on yelp and because I needed to get files off my hardrive from a laptop that died. It was fantastic to work one on one with him and get my files the same day rather than drop it oft at a big store. He is fast and efficient. I got all the files I needed off of the computer. He double checked to make sure the files were successfully transfered onto my jump drive. I really appreciated that he charged me to the time I was there and didn't try to waste time or add time to the session. He is completely trustworthy, helpful and a nice person. Our computer had been smelling like melting plastic and getting burning hot on the back. After a few days of worrying that we were breathing toxic fumes and that our desktop was about to die, I called Dave bright and early on Monday morning. He was super nice, agreed with my suspicion that it was probably the power supply failing and said he could come over that very morning to fix it up. A couple of hours later, he showed up with a smile, a new power supply and all his tools. He double-checked the problem, promptly fixed it, and then cleaned up the inside of our tower and checked my desktop for any issues. He streamlined our start-up, installed an ad-blocker, and did some other things to tune it up. He also checked my laptop (which hasn't worked quite right since my 3-yr-old dropped it) and installed a hard-drive fixing software on it. All the while, he chatted with me and interacted with my rambunctious kid and my noisy baby. He is obviously knowledgeable, very friendly and reasonably priced.
