WARNING.... this review will be neither funny or cool, but perhaps useful. I've bought used parts here before to fix my aging computer and they have cost me less than pocket change so 5 stars already. My computer failed to turn on at all one disappointing morning so I called around for rates...Re-PC charges only $42.50 per hour for diagnostics and you get to apply that to your first hour of labor. They fixed my computer in less than a day, and my experience with the staff was very pleasant and friendly. They have a very cool computer museum and I found a rad vintage Casio alarm clock for $3. The part that was malfunctioning cost me an extra $1.50. These guys (and gals) are straight shooters and I'm glad to know that they are in the hood.. read more

Short, not-shameful confession: I am a bit of a geek. This place has tons of used serial/parallel/monitor/network/firewire/USB cables for the appropriate, no-thought garage sale price of one dollar. They have a lot of used hardware and software, laptop docks, and printers for cheap. Need a CD-ROM audio cable? They have all lengths and connectors. Need Mac stuff? They have a surprising amount. Need a scary meter-wide plotter? They have you covered. They even had some more modern stuff like SATA drives and cables. I like going here and Boeing surplus: It is a little bit of nostalgia, a little bit of thriftiness, a little bit of saving the environment, a little bit of hunting and gathering, and a little bit of geek mecca. Plus you can buy two of whatever and still save 80% over retail. read more

After putting up with the most obnoxious, most condescending, and rude laptop repair technician ever who assured me he was really great at doing backups of data, I get my laptop back only to find out that I put up with all of the obnoxiousness for nothing, and he is most definitely not the best data backer as he claimed. When I called to find out what the story was, I was basically told that it was my own fault for not backing up my own data. UNBELIVABLE. To their credit tho, he did offer to find out if it would be possible to get some of that data back. Que? I'm not keeping my fingers crossed on that one. Not to mention the process of being interviewed by the tech as to what to backup was incredibly painful...have you ever heard of backing up the whole drive?! Not to mention, it took them 5 days to get back to me with an initial diagnosis when I was told it would be 2-3 days. At least they gave me a slight discount for the repair, however, after this type of abuse and bumbling of my data, I am feeling like I should have been compensated for all this trouble I could have saved by taking it elsewhere. Maybe they have good deals on used computer parts, but I would highly discourage anyone from taking their computer for repair here, unless you like being verbally abused. read more

Good repairs, and the ultimate computer flea market under one roof. The repair dept at Re-PC helped salvage the contents of my harddrive off of my old laptop when it got flooded a couple of years back. I was thankful for their inexpensive and helpful service. The shop itself is like something out of Star Wars. Bins and bins and rows and rows of computer parts and accessories. If you are a scrounger or scavenger or inventor, come by! Another fun attraction is their PC museum. See things you remember from junior high (a TRS-80!), and before, the whole evolution of the PC is right there in front of you. Geeky good fun. read more

Well this one star is actually for whomever has the ability to delete the reviews. I am not sure if it is Yelp, or if its the owners of this business, but if that's how this system works, then it is completely worthless and has zero validity! I wrote a review on May 25th which is no longer showing....???? I told a friend about it, only to learn that my review is no longer there..... This place is located downtown, is open pretty late, and has amazing prices. What more could you ask for? I remember the first time I visited. I was having movie night at my place on Thursday. But on Wednesday night, the power supply on my Media Center computer totally copped out! Hence, it would not turn on and, without it, movie night would be completely destroyed. So I biked down to Re-PC on Thursday, picked up a power supply for $20, biked home at top speed, installed it, and was ready to go! Move night, by the way, was quite a success. Except for that incident with the popcorn and the microwave. But we'll put that behind us. read more

When a coworker and I first entered this store, I would have given it 4 stars, simply because of the vast amount of parts and different electronic devices for sale. Everything was very organized, and although we were looking for a very odd item, we were happily surprised they had it! The downside was the people working there at the time. When we walked to the register, one man started yelling about the "da** doors being open" and yelling angrily at the staff to close it, in front of a bunch of customers. We stood at the counter for a few minutes, while one employee just stood right in front of us, looking around, not doing anything and not ringing us up. After a while, another employee came over and very loudly started saying "What are you doing? Do I have to do YOUR job for you too?! I guess so!" and angrily started ringing up our items. The other employee went to a computer behind the register and started cussing about something not working. When the man ringing us up handed my coworker the receipt (not saying one word to us the entire time) my coworker thanked him, and the man just walked off. How blatantly RUDE! Regardless of whether we need parts in the future or not, I do not think I will ever return here, simply based on customer service. I'm sure that the store isn't always like that, and perhaps they were having a bad day, but there's no reason to act like that around paying customers. read more

This isn't the place to go to if you are not tech-inclined and are looking to set up a PC from scratch. Hey, these people are tekkies mostly selling to tekkies. If you come in with a Nordstrom shoppers attitude, they'll treat you like the employees at Nordstroms WOULD LIKE TO; but can't. If you know your shit, they'll treat you greatly. If you don't but try to act like you do.. . you will reap what you sow. If you don't but are willing, you might even learn something. If you don't like this place, go back to the Eastside where you belong. They don't have time for you here. I've found some GREAT deals here. Example: 200 gig hard drive for some $35.00. I've been disappointed at items that I expected but did not find here. To the person that was complaining about their inability to restore some of the data from your drive, have you considered that it may have REALLY been your fault? Have you considered that the tech that worked on your system may have spent many more --unbilled-- hours on trying to help you out; which is why it took a couple of days longer?? And now you are complaining about them! I have no commercial or personal connections with this business except as a customer and as someone who has been in the business of dealing with computer hardware and software repair in one way or another since the Commodore Amiga days. Think, Flea market for the Techno geek, then you'll get the idea. If you like searching through bins upon bins of computer gear this is the place. No real haggling allowed, well you could try, but I'm not sure how far you'd get. This place has computer parts from soup to nuts, okay, minus the soup part. If you are in the market from some retro/olde skool part that you just HAVE to have then this really is the place to check out. The PC museum is rather scary, I mean I remember using some of this crap....er...stuff what seems like just yesterday! I'm glad this place exists for the sake of saving what might otherwise end up in a landfill. However, I feel their prices on somethings really need to reevaluated. For example, a 250 GB internal hard drive selling "as-is" for $80, seems a bit steep, especially when there is not guarantee it will work and one could easily buy a much newer, larger capacity drive for not much more. Just sayin... My main reason for going her was to simply find some extra screws for my laptop case - I misplaced a few when I was upgrading my hardware. Also overpriced. I'll check it out again, but I think the prices don't match the quality of the inventory. read more

GREG AND OTHER STAFF WILL DECEIVE YOU TO MAKE A SALE I've been coming here for years. I just dropped way more money than I should have on a laptop because the price for the specs seemed really good. I noticed that it was the only one out of around ten that had the lid closed, and I also noticed that they kept shutting it after I opened it... When I asked why it was hundreds of dollars less than the same model on newegg.com (a way better place to buy electronics), and straight up asked what was wrong with it, Greg, the manager I assume, or at least the eldest worker, got hesitant and said that was a valid question and nervously opened the lid. Everything seemed fine. I bought the laptop with $400 I shouldn't have spent because I'm losing my income and my housing and need a computer to work to not be homeless. As soon as I tried the laptop *not plugged in* the screen started flickering like a strobe light. I'm neurodivergent and have had absence seizures before, and if I was epileptic THIS COULD HAVE SENT ME TO THE HOSPITAL. But +$400 is more important to you than that, isn't it? It's extremely likely that they knew about this issue. Two staff members failed to inform me about this, both of them making a point to walk extra steps and shut the lid of this laptop when all the other ones were left open. The only probably reason they would have done this is because it was flickering on the sales floor and they knew no one would buy it if they saw that. I'm a psychology and neuroscience student and I can't imagine any way they wouldn't have known about this issue, especially since they set up the laptops. I asked what was wrong with it, they lied to me, they broke my trust and took advantage of me, and they likely will you too. I'm never shopping here again, and I'm going to go through a ton of work to upgrade the BIOS, flash new firmware, or tweak the intel settings to get this to work because I don't want to return it and let them deceive another person and get another sale with this machine read more

This is a perfect example of a warehouse junk yard. Know your computer lingo when you talk to the counter people and don't expect sympathy as they confuse you with tech language from the late 1980's. This warehouse of broken and rebuilt computers is neither modern nor up to date. Like a car junkyard everything is stripped and categorized except for electronics from more than 20 years ago. You will not find the custom parts on the main floor just the bare basics. If you need specialty parts PC Recycle might work for you (similar customer service but they get a lot of technology donations from companies like Microsoft and Goggle). If you do know your computers it's a good place to shop if you have less than $200 dollars and just want the bare basics of a computing system. The systems sold are upgradable except for MAC (mainly a PC store). You can also recycle old computers, monitors, and TV's here (battery backups or copiers recycled for a fee). It's one of those warehouse stores' that's nice to browse through but you usually leave empty handed. read more

I bought a laptop from these guys with Linux on it and stopped working. Problem with motherboard. This is well past the 30 day warranty for the used computers. Brought it back and told them the problem and they worked with me (for 2 hours straight!) and switched out the computer. Computer works great and I'm actually using it to write this review. Highly recommend. Oh, forgot to mention they got me to learning a new OS that I didn't know about: Linux Ubuntu. Probably the most user friendly Linux system on Earth. These guys know a lot about it. They stock a huge amount of complete turnkey machines at reasonable prices and there's a vast assortment of parts and peripherals that could meet almost any conceivable need (as long as that need doesn't involve anything made in the last year or two I guess). They even had the unobtanium Apple antenna I needed for my G5 tower! I had a great experience. So I am what I consider intermediate-level on my knowledge of PCs. No idea on hardware though. But I called first to describe my problem of my laptop restarting randomly since I had cleaned it previously. Note - he didn't have to offer advice but he did! The guy suggested possibly replacing my RAM. He looked in the counter to see what they had and it turned out he had the kind I needed. So I came in to look at it and brought my laptop with me. We tried finding the RAM and couldn't, so the person helping me went and got the guy who probably answered the phone. Turns out he misunderstood my question about which RAM. So it ended up being a few bucks more. (like $6) I can understand that misunderstanding as these guys are SWAMPED in business every time I come in there! So we tried the ram to see if there was any difference and it still wasn't recognising the original RAM in my laptop. I asked to borrow a screwdriver to see if the RAM inside needed to be plugged in a little better, and they offered it no problem. Still didn't solve the turning off problem. So I asked if they had a copy of system memory checker program I had done some research about online. Turns out they did, and they sold it to me for like a buck. Then the same guy recommended me checking out my processor thermal paste. I had forgotten I've had this laptop for like 4 years and never replaced it! Thanks, guy! So he asked me which kind I wanted.. the cheap kind or the more expensive kind. I told him I didn't want to have to reapply the thermal paste in a year again so he gave me the mid-level one. It was only like $8 anyway so that was worth it. They also advised me about getting the static electricity off of my body so I could get the computer apart without frying the motherboard (instead of pressuring me to buy a useless static electricity prevention bracelet.) So I spent less than $10, and guess what? Got lots more life on my laptop that I invested money into and now upgraded to a SSD. Thanks, RE-PC. You guys came through for a person who was laid off and desperate to have back their only means of entertainment. read more

The white manager in here is a ANTI-ASIAN. The worst experience I have ever had. It's a long story so my computer has a crack on the screen so I came to this place on Feb 12 through BestBuy's referral. When me and my brother came in, he just ignored us and keep making fun of us such as are you even listening...bla bla. However, we both still agreed to let them fix our computer and he said it only take 2 weeks. A month later I called him because I need to travel on March 31st, and he kept delaying to the following week because the screen he ordered is from China. Another 2 weeks went by, I called him and he said that March 24 will be the last day. Me and brother came in on that day, guess what, the part he ordered was broken and he still talking loudly and aggressively and told us that it only take another 45' to finish. Me and my brother came in later in day since another staff called us that our laptop is fixed. OMG, THE OWNER HANDED IT BACK TO US WITH EVEN WORSE CRACK ON THE SCREEN and told us that it's not their fault. Also, he was not apologize. A MONTH AND A HALF WAITING. I am totally speechless. A big store that cannot even fix a laptop's screen. Please people, I wrote this to warning you guys about this place. Also, the price IF the Dell's screen is fixed is over $300. BE AWARE read more

Costumer service is horrible. So these guys pretty much when i went to go return something. I returned it, got a receipt back and i was supposed to have a direct transaction of the money that was SUPPOSED to be returned to me but when i checked my account the money wasn't there. It's been a couple days and it's still not in there. Since the money was so little i let them keep it. About $15, but money is money. I am PISSED and disappointed but i let them keep the money anyways because i will not waste my precious time dealing with complete a-holes. No time to waste on losers who don't wanna give their CUSTOMERS you know the people who keep their business up and running their money back. What-a-shame. DON'T GO HERE. Got my laptop there about 6 weeks ago and the hard drive died but they were cool and though I was a day or two past the 30 day warranty they took it anyway, spend a lot of time cloning the hard drive and saved ALL my data except maybe one picture! Came recommended from a friend, but I am not impressed. Had my custom-built (with my own hands) computer start to go crazy on me and I did not have the time to track down the problem between work and moving... They had it for 4 days and called me on two separate occasions to ask me about mundane and obviously irrelevant hardware questions. Asking me about Raid drives when I have none, telling me my unformatted 1Tb HD was not working when I know for a fact it was not even plugged in, since that was my FIRST troubleshooting attempt. "What do you mean?" they asked, well, I said, "It is NOT a hard drive issue when it will not get past the Bios, folks!" A day later they said it was ready. Ok, what was it? "Oh one of your sets of the RAM is bad, but it works fine now." It sure did , for less than a month, then the other Ram died, and the motherboard went with it. (OH yeah, they also managed to somehow mangle my case lights, which no longer light up in front, at all...) WOW, so I paid them just to postpone my problem for another month? NOT GREAT! So, I got a new motherboard at Fry's for cheap, hooked it all up and it all works just fine, Processor, Video Card and RAM included, thanks to me, NOT RE PC. I still don't know exactly what went wrong or where with my old motherboard, but obviously, neither did they. But they sure cop a good bs attitude to make you think it was all worked out. Next time I will save my $46 bucks and tear it apart myself. Sure, endless isles of tech kitsch to sort thru and a decent, if outdated, computer museum, but aside from the browsing factor for random obsolete junk, there is no reason to go here. This place just pegged my sleaze meter. "No testing on as-is equipment", and almost everything is sold "as-is". I can understand no returns - I wouldn't enter a store like this expecting to return anything I purchased there. But no testing? In other words: you see that cool Lanner/Freescale network appliance for sixty bones. Cool - it'd look great running FreeBSD! Tech geek heaven - I went with a tech geek and it was hours before I could escape. You could definitely build your own computer from the ground up with all the components they have, bins and bins of them - and they sometimes buy your old equipment depending on what it is. The tech world seems more fickle than the fashion world. The PC museum is great, but don't take a look if you're feeling your age, 'cause some of this stuff is OLD and well, so are some of us. Always a great place to hunt around, lots of great finds! I was able to find some older parts to repair a computer for one of my friends and had fun doing it. I also enjoyed the classic computer museum thing they had in the back, it was cool to see the progression of computers. I took my laptop to these guys because I had reached the end of what I could do for it myself. $90 later my computer still crashes every day and I am no better off. The tech who worked on my computer did put more than an hour into it, but they didn't do it in a timely matter, were dismissive of my questions, didn't seem all that concerned about my problem, and were jerks about answering questions. They acted like they couldn't really be bothered with my concerns and that I was an idiot for asking them to explain their geek-speak. I went for expertise and felt like I was constantly trying to motivate them to pursue different avenues. Made to wait in the shop when I went to pick it up I was privy to the in house employee banter. I was extremely unimpressed with the quality of the front of house staff. Not very bright, and way to concerned with being cool. This place may have done all they could for me, but they did not communicate this to me in any reassuring or meaningful way. Lose the attitude boys, nobody but your zitty-faced co-workers is impressed. I found the staff to be insulting and immature. read more

Waited 4 years to make this review... BUT I bought a used 2011 MacBook in 2015, and it has been my daily driver in my home recording studio up until today. The MacBook is still more than fine, it's quite wonderful actually. The only reason the computer is taking a backseat is because I replaced it with an iMac. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to RePC before buying your new computer. The $400 I spent has translated to $100 a year of "perfect" performance. I've been to Frye's, Best Buy and several other places and have bought brand new computers. Now that the economy is making things a little more difficult I tried REPC. Cheapest of the cheap! This place is a like a thrift store, but for computers - extremely informal. Some of the reviewers seem like they'd be the type to walk into a Goodwill and expect Nordstrom quality products and customer service. The disconnect is not with the place of business, but with your expectations. They are not a pawn/consignment shop, and they are definitely not a Best Buy. Sometimes things are tested before being put out for sale, sometimes not - if you're curious, just ask; if you want to test it, expect to be turned down but ask anyway. Their repair price is $85/hr and they charge by the half-hour (thus why a previous comment said $42.50/hr). If you only come here for the $1 cables and old stuff, this is the only place like it and you will fall in love! read more

Never been more happier since I've sent to RE-PC Shop, their store clerks are very informative and helpful, especially Cal and their try very hard to make your shopping experience a pleasant one; they have a of desktop computers to choose from but not so many laptops.
