I am recommending this business because I think refurbishing computers and equipment is a good idea. Also, the product I bought was reasonably priced and works fine. I wanted to get an extra wireless keyboard and mouse so I could have one at work and one at home and wouldn't have to carry them around. I asked about them in the store and was led to a plastic box that was filled with identical wireless keyboard mouse combos. I picked one out and asked where the chip was. This should have tipped off the clerk that I was not tech savvy. As I suspect many of there customers are not. She told me the toggle was under the mouse. I got the set home and did not see a toggle under the mouse (latter I found out she was saying dongle). I looked in the battery chambers of both the keyboard and mouse and did not see it. I called the them and was told to check the battery chambers of both the keyboard and mouse and once again I didn't see it. I was told that this would be a once in a lifetime that a chip was not with the keyboard. I brought the unit in and we looked in the keyboard battery area next. Then we looked we looked at the mouse and they pointed out a built in dongle compartment in the battery chamber of the mouse. I was never told there could be a built in compartment when I was in the store or later on the phone. I have since find some YouTube videos that explain where to find the dongle. This tells me I'm not that only one to have trouble finding it. read more

I used to love RePC in Tukwila. That changed when I encountered a "know it all blowhard" whose sole intent was to make me leave the store with something whether it fit my needs or not. He did not even know enough to do that, but I had time to try something I could afford. After I inevitably returned the item (mismatched resolution of monitor and computer) to a Senior Associate, he asked me "was anything wrong with the item?". The jerk walks in before I can speak and says "NOTHING. HE JUST DIDN'T WANT IT". I explained it didn't fit the purpose. This is not the only place I see this trend of young associates being rude and obnoxious. Brick and Mortar stores close over things like this. If there's no Capital Investment firm to back RePC, they may follow suit of other companies soon. Too bad. Customer Service is the key to success, people. Hire better. read more

Went to RE-PC yesterday to find a basic laptop I could use for travel. WIthin 10 minutes I was outfitted with an HP laptop with a 500 GB drive, for less than $50. Super helpful tech put together laptop and drive for me, along with dispensing advice about best brands of drives to look for. I have been a customer of RdPC literally for more than a decade. Even prior to their move to the current location on E Andover Pkwy. Since I have witnessed their business practices, their merchandise, their technical expertise and the customer services for a very long time, and I also have a technical background, I feel that I am in a fairly good position to comment. Gene Martin, the long-time manager of RePC is technically savvy! As is his staff! Since his merchandise can be 'historical' he is able to bridge the historical divide and flexibly mesh hardware to meet current needs. He is able to bridge platforms as he understands more than only the current 'thing'. He has been in his position for the long haul and is therefore very experienced. His store has grown from some dusty roots into a very well organized assortment of useful parts. I understand that they offer additional services as well but I have not used all so cannot comment on them. This is a good place to buy used computers. I started coming here in the 1990s and have bought over 5 computers and a few printers for my business. If you do a little research beforehand so you can ask questions, they are very helpful. This is a secondhand store. I believe they give you 30 days. In my experience when I bought the wrong thing, they let me swap for something else. read more

Laptop issues and I thought it might be toast. I took it in and did a quick description. I left it there and I feared a flatten coming. After a couple of days, I get the call. Not much else to do. But it was not expensive and it still hiccups now and then but it's life has been prolonged. So all in all, it was a good plan. read more

You can buy pretty much anything electronic including: legacy monitors, keyboards, PSUs, GPUs, fans, network hubs, routers, speakers, and many other components. My favorite thing to pick up are any loose cables and power strips that go between $1 to $3 that I may need for my rig/command center. Way better than paying $10-$15 each for a new cable. Alongside that, they also have some affordable all purpose computer desktops and laptops for those looking to simply browse the internet or watch Youtube vids. Really good if you're looking for a computer for your small business or for someone looking to do just the basics. Being a retro gamer, I also picked up a small CRT and an old Xbox original controller to play my old Silent Hill 2 game on that. Regarding those, it's mostly your throwaway gaming stuff like your 360s, kinect games, original xbox cables, wii fit boards, wiis, and maybe a broken gamecube. Great place if you want to do some old school retro computer building or need some small things but don't want to pay a lot (i.e. cables). I'd recommend this place if you're in the periodically in the area to see if they have anything good every now and then. read more

I've been a semi regular customer for years even when it was over 130 miles from my front door to this store. (they've moved since then). they always had a huge variety of computer related randomness and back in the day it might've taken a little digging but you could definitely find what you needed there. I really enjoyed "the hunt" back then too. fast forward to today. the store has moved since those early days and also downsized rather significantly. they do still have the ink cartridge refill center but I've never used it. the rest of the place has sadly gone downhill just a bit. the selection isn't nearly as good and if there is an upside it's the customer service. my last trip was to see if they had RAM for my desktop. they did! sort of... the specs of what I was sold were very close (and under normal circumstances I suspect would've worked). sadly though, it was not compatible. I called them up to discuss this and they agreed to let me return it (based on incompatibility). that is customer service at its best. I'd love to give them a higher star rating but the smaller selection and somewhat higher prices brought my rating down. (I do still believe in this little store though) :-) read more

We just picked up our computer that had died and then revived by RE-PC. Being around their staff was fun....a blend of computer savants who immediately enjoyed diagnosing the problem, and who didn't mind my listening to their assessments. The actual work was done by one of the geniuses in the backroom....and I would have to say....in all honesty...that I was surprised at the low price. When you can walk out from a computer fixit center, and spend less than $200 for the work, which took about a week...and involved major replacement....it felt like a bargain. read more

This is a hardware geek's paradise, especially if you need that one cable that the evil empire wants $10 for and you won't get it until tomorrow. There are literally about a ton of useful things here for less than $10 a piece. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful. I've overheard them find solutions for other customers that sounded like impossible problems to solve. There are all kinds of quirky old 80s and 90s gizmos in the as-is section. This place used to be a great place to get replacement parts for legacy or hard to find electronics but recently the past few years the prices have skyrocketed on just about everything in the entire store and it's hard to justify paying what they're asking especially since the products are (and it seems that even the staff in charge of pricing these products seem to forget what they're selling...) 1. USED 2. OLD, which for electronics is especially hurtful with regards to value as they age 3. UNTESTED 4. SOLD "AS-IS" with NO warranty, NO exchanges, and NO refunds. About 25% of the things I buy there just don't work when I get them home and they don't allow you to test them in the store, and they don't allow returns on anything they sell marked as is. I dont know if management changed or what but the prices used to be fair for stuff here but in the last few years, and at the time of this writing, asking $15 for a 15 year old used soundblaster pci sound card from 2001 that sells on ebay for $2 with free shipping all day long is just plain GREEDY & Its really sad to see this company change their business model in this kind of negative way, as it will only lead them down the path to the dark side. read more

I brought my late 2012, 21.5 inch iMac in for repair. The hard drive had failed and I was looking to have a 500 gb SSD installed. Not only were the 3 in store geeks that I talked to fussy and annoying, but they were poorly trained, and were unable to answer my basic questions. After dropping my iMac off, I received a call 5 days later and was told that they didn't want to complete the repair because the screen adhesive kit (that was necessary for reassembly of the glass) made the repair "a liability" and something that was "too complicated." Given the fact that when I dropped the computer off, we discussed that a screen adhesive kit was necessary, and the fact that the tech said that he had "done it before," I'm upset that they held the computer before calling me a week later and saying that it was something that they could not fix. Although RE-PC Tukwila has the lowest hourly rate that I could find, I would recommend Victor at Seattle Mac Repair - MacBook iMac iPhone Repair for all your Mac repair needs. He's a former Genius bar tech who was far more charismatic, responsive, kind, professional, and well trained Concluding thought: RE-PC TECHS CAN NOT FIX ANY APPLE PRODUCTS NEWER THAN A LATE 2012 iMAC. read more

My advice is to only go to Re-PC IF YOU a very experienced and technical PC user. First of all, two pieces of the equipment I bought did not work and they do not allow for returns. For example, an Apple wireless keyboard had such old batteries in them that the acid had leaked out and corroded the entire interior. Even after extensive cleaning it did not work. The back up and restore of files from my old PC has been absolutely unusable. No .PCF files from outlook were saved nor could I find a single file from my old C: drive. The only thing I could recover is what I backed up myself on an external drive. This does not include the incredibly rude service from 3 different people in person and on the phone. This was at the beginning of COVID and I was doing my level best to be patient and nice and instead was treated like "another stupid woman" even though I've been in the tech industry for 30 years and I spent $500+ in equipment. read more

This is THE place to come to if your computer died and you need one cheap and fast! A few years ago I picked up a Gateway tower with windows XP for $100! After XP was discontinued. This was a score for me as I hate Vista. I came back this weekend looking for a good used monitor. They had a huge selection of flat screen monitors and also what I call the beast of a monitor. You know, the big box monitors. They ranged in price from $15 to $130. The folks that work there are very helpful and answered all my questions. It was fun to explore all the vintage stuff. They had a funky looking thing called an oscilloscope. I didn't know what it was so I googled it and found it to be a machine from the 70's that measures voltage and frequency of an electronic signal. I have no idea what you'd do with it these days but I'm sure it's something that a collector might prize. read more

I just purchased 25 monitors for about 900 dollars, all 19 inches all in great shape, all working completely fine. And all of them were Dells, (not saying that Dell is the best but much better than Westinghouse). The sales guy there that I deal with is amazing, because of him and the manager I have been back on 3 more occasions in less than a week! Lots of commodity PC parts, including piles of video cards that were dreamy high-end models not so long ago. Need mice, CD/DVD drives, monitors, speakers, memory, keyboards? They have piles and tubs. A few nice audio interfaces and a moderate amount of Mac stuff are collected towards the counter. Scads of more esoteric and vintage gear are also present...I recall a time clock, a few racks of awesome-looking network gear, and a smattering of audio and video mixers/switches. Projectors, videoconferencing gear, and monster office printers. If you need a plug in power supply for a laptop or something, they have a huge number. I did have to wait a bit to talk to someone, but I was impressed with their patient and comprehensive explanations to the people ahead of me. While I waited, one fellow whipped apart a PC laptop in a flurry of parts and owner winces, which was entertaining to watch. When it was my turn, they bent over backwards (and into some bins behind the counter) to dig out the rare part I needed. The checker pointed me to a better product than the one I had picked from my random wanderings, which is pretty awesome. I love my local business Olygeek, which also does computer repair/recycling/disposal; this location of RE-PC is a superstore + museum in comparison, and their prices are a little better, too. read more

If you like computers and have ever scrounged a junkyard, Re-PC is the best of both worlds. This is my go-to place for dirt-cheap surge protectors, cords and cables. If I needed old circuit boards, drives or CPUs I'd be in hog-heaven. Good prices on older printers, scanners, monitors, server racks, laptops, you name it. I've even scored a couple of vintage bits. like a mint, fully working KayPro and an original Compaq portable. IMHO the Tukwila location has better selection than the SODO store, plus the staff are way friendlier. Highly recommended. read more

I walked in on a whim. I've had two old hard drives that I pulled like a sacrificial lamb from old computers before they went to the dumpster many years before. And the data on them? Priceless to me. Years of college pictures, old band recordings, indie bands with hard to find albums, live rarities, college writings, old song lyrics, and most of my writing portfolio. That's a lot of crap to be missing. Obviously I can live without them because I have for years, but I've always thought of getting some junky computer to throw them in and puking everything off of them. So I asked the salesperson what he recommended for a cheap shell to throw my hard drives on, just so I could get what I needed. I was looking for a computer, not having any luck with any of the enclosures for drives to sit externally. When he brought me to one, I was skeptical... But on getting home and hooking it up? Sure it's cheaply made and I had to use rubber bands to hold it together because screw holes didn't fully line up (And there were no instructions too), but it did what I needed, and to see those old files? Beautiful. I was looking at prices as I walked in. Not too bad. I think I agree with other reviewers that this wouldn't be where I bought a full system, but they've got a good selection of parts. Don't waste your time with the Tukwila location. The selection is junk compared to Seattle, most of their stuff out on the floor is somebody else's old broken crap that has been dropped off for recycling, being sold as-is. You're better off going to Seattle Re-PC, much better and bigger selection overall and nicer employees. I guess it's good if you want a decades old book on irrelevant obsolete computer programs from the Win 9x and DOS eras, or a years old overpriced laptop sitting in their glass case. Otherwise the place has little value other than for dropping off your own old computer junk for them to resell. read more

The white manager in here is a ANTI-ASIAN. The worst experience I have ever had. It's a long story so my computer has a crack on the screen so I came to this place on Feb 12 through BestBuy's referral. When me and my brother came in, he just ignored us and keep making fun of us such as are you even listening...bla bla. However, we both still agreed to let them fix our computer and he said it only take 2 weeks. A month later I called him because I need to travel on March 31st, and he kept delaying to the following week because the screen he ordered is from China. Another 2 weeks went by, I called him and he said that March 24 will be the last day. Me and brother came in on that day, guess what, the part he ordered was broken and he still talking loudly and aggressively and told us that it only take another 45' to finish. Me and my brother came in later in day since another staff called us that our laptop is fixed. OMG, THE OWNER HANDED IT BACK TO US WITH EVEN WORSE CRACK ON THE SCREEN and told us that it's not their fault. Also, he was not apologize. A MONTH AND A HALF WAITING. I am totally speechless. A big store that cannot even fix a laptop's screen. Please people, I wrote this to warning you guys about this place. Also, the price IF the Dell's screen is fixed is over $300. A paradise for people seeking vintage electronics. They got a major inventory of batteries, cables, CD/DVD drives, keyboards, monitors, speakers and so much more at great prices. If they don't have it then the Seattle location in Sodo probably does. There are computer systems that are set up to show customers that actually work before they buy. The Ink Shop inside the store was helpful staff members that know ink better than other the major office supplies stores. Why would you pay full price from Office Depot, Office Max and Staples for printer ink cartridges when you can refill or get a re-manufactured for a fraction of the price? You can save money and take by stopping by and talking to the staff here. read more

Update: after using that small little part to connect to my charger, it did work for a couple days. It charged my phone without any issues. Now however, my computer doesn't work at all. It has a recovery screen that kept shutting the computee down. Now even with another charger, it will not turn on. I'm concerned that the original piece want the correct type for my computer. Little did I know after getting off work at the ER, I would have to take my computer to the ER! I tried Best Buy, and instead of providing me options for my problem they jumped to the idea that my motherboard was fried and I would never be able to use my computer again. Jump to me driving to Re-PC 10min before they closed. I walked in profusely apologizing and telling them they could definitely tell me to come back tomorrow if I was too late. The guy working said he would absolutely help me, and do his best to figure it out. Not only did he fix my computer (my battery had a bad connection issue), he was extremely kind and understanding about it. I will never go anywhere else to have electronics fixed. Staff are condescending, snooty, and patronizing. If you can find one of them at all. If you know exactly what you're looking for and can find it without help, great. Otherwise, go elsewhere. If you do have to come here, bring something to do while you wait (and wait) at an empty checkout counter.
