AVOCADO SALAD- Say what?!!? It's so fresh and leaping with flavor. Your mouth will thank you. FALAFEL- Fa La La La La So F-ing Good! They are soft, crispy, and light. Like no other. 6 tasty little reasons to order out. PITA- Warm and soft... pita perfect. HUMMUS- Nothing short of a divine party in my mouth. Fresh-fresh-fresh! I was staying at Yale Hospital and by the time my surgery was done and I was in my room their food service had stopped serving dinner. I stumbled upon Rawa and the reviews were good, and so were the pictures. I ordered the garden salad with chicken, and lentil soup. I asked for no EVOO & dressing on side as well as for the driver to call when he arrived. They did exactly that! My order was flawless, the soup was piping hot, great customer service, and the chicken on my salad was tender & juicy! I don't write reviews very often but this place absolutely deserves it along with the 5 stars. I will be returning In a few days with my bf when I get out of the hospital. This is one of my favorite restaurants in town. Whenever I visit my boyfriend in Hartford we always come here and it's become our place. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The food is awesome - The pita is always fresh and yummy and I order it every time. The service is always great too! We usually come in when Jasmines working and it's come to the point where she has memorized our order lol. She knows us by name and is an awesome, kind, and attentive server. We enjoyed some good meals here pre-pandemic but our experience on a recent night suggests this place now exists primarily for the scrum of food delivery drivers who crowd the entrance and not for the few souls who eat in and seem to be an afterthought if not an annoyance. Staffing is thin but not thin enough to explain the slow and inattentive service throughout the meal. I'm tired of the "Covid" excuse for a poor restaurant experience. By 2.5 years into the pandemic if a restaurant can't provide some minimum standard of service for their $50 a head food then they need to put a sign on the door "takeout only" and not give in-person diners false expectations. Ordered takeout to give them a shot, I love the location and am super excited someone else took a chance here. I ordered the hummus and the Rawa pizza -it was named after the restaurant, so I figured it represented them the best. The hummus is very good; don't expect a garlic/salt bomb, instead it's super creamy and allows the chickpeas and olive oil to stand out. You get several portions of it too, definitely get one for the table. The Rawa appears to have several root veggies under a blanket of smoky mozzarella. I wouldn't called it "smoked" mozz but it definitely has smokey undertones, which worked well with what I believe were mainly turnips and mushrooms. The veggies were roasted down to delicious, soft pieces before placed on the pizza. My pizza was cut into 4 pieces, which was a bit odd but nothing to freak out about. I'm definitely coming back to check out their takes on other types of food. Edit: Mr. al-Rawi was kind enough to let me know the pizza actually features fennel and eggplant, not turnip and mushroom. The eggplant was what gave the "smoky" flavor. read more

Pillowy, fresh pita baked to order. Each one of the pan-Mediterranean dishes we tried was full of bright, rich flavors. Also a beautiful space and good service. Today's lunch was our first visit and we focused on the outstanding dips (hummus, foule, avocado all delicious - my favorite was the red-pepper muhammara which I was unable to stop eating). I can't stay away from Rawa too long - it's too delicious & I find myself wanting that special flavor. The avocado dip is my everything. Every time I go (and I'm fortunate to live right up the street), it feels like home, chill decor, friendly service (usually see Faez, Alex or Salam), free wifi & happy hour (4:30-6:30) with a nice selection of discounted drinks. I recommend any of the avocado or hummus dips, the falafel, and the Rawa & Margherita pizzas. I have yet to try the biryanis which I heard are amazing. And, even though it's not on the Happy Hour menu, I suggest that you try the Saffroni drink - it's out of this world! read more

My husband and I ate here this evening, and we had a great meal. We had the dip sampler (with hummus, Labne, Muhammara, and avocado dip) the falafel platter, and the lamb kebab. The best Mediterranean food I've eaten, And I've eaten quite a bit! The Zatter pizza combined with the red pizza- so good. And we did the 4-dip sampler with their bread, which must be homemade because I don't know how it would be so delicate and fresh if it wasn't. They happily added some fresh garlic to our red pizza. Hit this up when we were super hungry and I was just amazed at the craftsmanship- I am used to Mediterranean food being fresh and healthy but they just have an extra "something" that makes them stand out. The standard starters - humid, babaganoush, roared eggplant, fava bean salad - are excellent with subtle spicing and genorous olive oil. Pita is home made, right out of the oven, and delicious!! Wonderful experience! We went there for a birthday lunch with my parents and they could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They have done a great job opening up the space and making small tweaks vs Stone Hearth that make a big difference. Hummus, baba ganouj, and pita were awesome. The pita in particular is unbelievably good and comes fresh out of the oven. We asked for cut veggies on the side even though it wasn't on the menu and they brought out a ton of fresh cut peppers, carrots, and cucumbers which was perfect. Delicious falafel and pizzas. They even let my parents bring in a cake from a different bakery, and placed and lit 30 candles on it before bringing it out--truly the definition of going above and beyond. Delicious food, and extremely vegan friendly. The hummus appetizer came with delicate, light, fresh pita, and was garnished with lovely lemon juice and olive oil. The vegan pizza was wonderful. Vegan pizza can be a sad affair, with plastic cheese and little flavor. This pizza did not induce cheese nostalgia. Thinly sliced eggplant and a killer tomato sauce with just the right spicy kick. I can't believe we didn't know about this restaurant when it opened! We ordered the labne and falafel for an appetizer, and the Mamyaldi pizza for the main course. Delicious. Especially since we are trying to avoid cheese, the sauce and the eggplant and lamb was seasoned perfectly and a great alternative to cheese covered pizza.
