Went to order the idiot sandwich and they where out, so I decided to get the RK burger. Waited an hour and a half for an overpriced mediocre burger served with Heinz's ketchup and Hellman's mayonnaise. With prices like these I figured the quality would be a bit better. I've had better burgers at hospitals. read more

Maybe my expectations were too high. I have eaten at Gordon Ramsey establishments in Las Vegas and expected the same quality, sadly you won't find it here. The service was not great. We ordered the rolls for an appetizer. They brought out the rolls and butter and also a side of mayonnaise. To be fair I asked for some mayonnaise with my truffle fries so I was expecting it just not with the appetizers. The entrees weren't bad but they were incredibly average. At the end of dinner the waiter brought the bill, I paid with my debit card and when he brought it back he informed me that he went ahead and added an extra $10 to the bill because he forgot to charge us for water. Yeah ok. If you feel the need to charge me an extra $10 on a $240 bill for 3 people, go for it. I will never go back. If this place didn't have Gordon Ramseys name on it, it would be closed already. There are so many better options close to this place. Avoid. read more

A friend and I were given a preview invitation to Ramsay's Kitchen before it opens to the public, so we went as a party of three today for lunch. If you recall the old Ted's Montana Grill space, which houses it, it has been fully transformed with warm fabrics and lighting contrasted with blues + teals in the decor and an archway of ivory tile running along the center of the restaurant. I can't say enough good things about our server, Tanya. She gave us some great information about the menu as we got settled in: the menu was created for this location and is a combination of classic Ramsay dishes, family recipes, and dishes created with a Chicago twist in mind, such as the roast beef sandwich with spicy giardinera. There is also a cocktail on the menu called the Penicillin, a nod to the fact that this space once housed Oswald's Pharmacy, still a local business! Overall, all the food was amazing. We started with the maitake mushrooms with miso aioli: what an amazing contrast between the earthy meatiness of the mushrooms, the sweetness of the char sui glaze and the creamy aioli. For the entrees, I had the sea scallops with pork belly, pomegranate seeds and apricot puree. You could really tell this flavor combo was crafted by a chef, honestly. The delicate blandness of the scallops was enlivened by being pan seared but then further uplifted by being paired with the crisp but fatty pork belly, and both were complemented by the sweet fruity high note of the apricot. And I like carrots, but the heirloom carrots with harissa yoghurt and almonds were delicious! The zing of the spice was smoothed out by the yoghurt and made for the perfect blend. For dessert we had the Strawberry Eton mess and the sticky toffee pudding, both awesome. The strawberries were so bright against the creaminess of the rest of the Mess, and my friend who is a meringue connoisseur proclaimed this version to be great. I loved the sticky toffee pudding too: not too heavy or stodgy, the toffee silky and rich. We did have a vegetarian among our party, and items are demarcated on the menu if they are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free. The menu is not terribly expansive and a couple of the options were already 86ed for the day (we were there at 12:30 pm for lunch), so that cut down on her choices a bit. Overall, though, this was incredibly smooth for a preview, and amazingly delicious as well. Ramsay's Kitchen will be special occasion dining at its best in downtown Naperville! read more

I was so excited to come here because I loved eating at one of Ramsay's restaurants in Vegas but he really didn't hit the mark with this location in Naperville. The price is not worth the taste of the food. The service was really lacking compared to his Vegas locations. We got shepherds pie and beef Wellington. The shepherds pie was one of the least favorite meals we have had in a while. The beef Wellington was ok but lacking flavor- which is weird because when we tried it in Vegas it was amazing. We always had truffle fries to share which were nothing interesting. We skipped dessert because we didn't enjoy our experience. The ambiance inside is nothing exciting. Our table decided we wouldn't come back and haven't. read more

Came here to celebrate an anniversary. The beef Wellington was small but a great opportunity to try the dish. The taste itself was excellent and the mashed potatoes made the portion size of the dish perfect. The fish and chips are extremely crispy. The batter is basically a shell for the fish fillet which was very tender and mild. The cake was free to celebrate our special event! read more

I had the best experience here! From the moment I walked through the door until I left I had great customer service. The lighting was perfect, not too bright nor too dim. Everything we had was cooked to perfection. My friend who doesn't eat scallops had to admit the scallops were good after I convinced her to try scallops again. This was my first Beef Wellington and it will not be my last. The drinks were great and OMG the desserts were Amazon! I drove almost an hour to try it. I'm going to do it again. It was three of us (we had a couple of drinks) and our total with gratuity was $480, $160 each. read more

The restaurant has a modern moody feel to it! The ambience is nice. The noise level was about average. Our server was exceptional and made the dining experience even better. Started off with Parker Rolls as our appetizer. The rolls were warm and fluffy and the butter added delightful touch to the rolls. Idiot sandwich with salad was a great choice and the tomato chutney sauce in the sandwich complimented the short ribs in the sandwich very well. The Vanilla Mascarpone cheesecake was milky as they used the mascarpone cheese instead of cream cheese. There were crushed pistachios and peach compote that made it even more delicious and refreshing. It seemed to be a summer seasonal dessert so I am curious as to what they will switch it out for the next season! I would definitely recommend this place! read more

Our experience was overall a good one! However, it wasn't entirely up to my expectations. The service was very attentive and knowledgable about the menu, which was nice. The ambiance was peculiar- intimate and romantic lighting, but the music was too loud and did not seem to fit (pop, edm). It just seemed like the restaurant was confused for how it wanted you to feel and how it presented itself. The food itself was good, not amazing. The rolls were the best. I do not remember much of what I ate, which usually is not a great sign. Overall it's a good place to eat however I don't know if it's worth a second visit. read more

Our party of 5 was really disappointed. The food wasn't great - especially for those prices. (Details on the food yo follow.) We were all first timers to Ramsey's Kitchen and excited to try it for Restaurant Week 2025. As fans of "Hells Kitchen" we also looked forward to trying some GR staples like the Beef Wellington. For the fish & chips, the batter was thick and not fully cooked (mushy inside), the pastry on the Wellington was undercooked too, and the lobster roll was the size of hotdog bun. On a positive note, the service was good. read more

Honestly, kind of a letdown. We went as a family for an early Valentine's Dinner and nothing was too good. The burger and fries were okay, but not better than any other burger we've had. Not even close. I was super excited to try the beef Wellington, since it's GR's specialty, but we've had better elsewhere. The beef was cooked correctly but the layers surrounding it were flavorless and soggy. For the price, we were still hungry and not pleased. The space is attractive but there are finer places with better food and price points. read more

This was my first experience at Ramsay's. Overall seems to be the new Naperville "it" place right now. I booked 2 months in advance for a weekday table. The food overall was good, but pricey so bring your gold AMEX along for the experience. My son had the Beef Wellington which he described as "very good, but not the best he's ever had". The Servers at Ramsay's are good, but they are all about the upsell, which they are very proficient at! Ambiance has an exciting vibe. Decor is fresh and modern. I'd budget at least $100 per person for dinner. read more

Too often a new restaurant will open that doesn't live up to expectations and the hype...... I'm happy to say Ramsay's Kitchen is not one of them. The reservation process straight and easy, both online and by phone. They even send a reminder text to confirm the reservation. Entering Ramsay's is through a revolving door and the maitre d' station is on the left, there is also a coat check closet behind the desk. We were promptly taken to a cozy couples booth. It took less than a minute for our server to greet us with menus and asked us if it was our first time dining at Ramsay's, we hadn't and she then wished me a happy birthday, then went over the specials and took our drink order. My bride had a glass of wine and for myself it was an exceptional Old Fashioned. We both ordered the British Ale & Onion Soup and the Parker Rolls. ( enter superlatives here) I must warn the reader that I lack an adequate number of superlatives in my vocabulary to do both the food, staff and service of Ramsay's Kitchen justice. I will simply add (enter superlatives here) and ask that you imagine the highest praise). My bride ordered the Chicken Milanese and for myself the Beef Wellington. Both the server and kitchen timed the arrival of the main courses perfectly as we never felt rushed. The Chicken Milanese accompanied with Dijon cream sauce, prosciutto, Gruyère, arguala, grained mustard vinaigrette arrived with most generous portions. My Beef Wellington arrived looking like "food art" with wonderful composition; potato purée, glazed baby root vegetables, red wine demi, the filet a glorious rare with the puff pastry. To describe the meal as amazing wouldn't do it justice..... (Enter Superlatives Here). The portions were more than generous, and was boxed for us to take home. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary dessert for my birthday..... Sticky Toffee Pudding, complete with a birthday candle . Absolutely decadent in the most fantastic way! It was the perfect end to a most marvelous dining experience. read more

Ramsay's Kitchen - Beer Wellington - New American Near Me - Naperville, Illinois

Stopped in for a birthday lunch with friends and family over the weekend. The restaurant is tucked into a small building downtown Naperville but it felt larger inside than it seemed entering. I liked the furnishings and the whole place had a classy feel to it. It's a small thing but I liked their plates and flatware. The service was great. You could tell this was a place that really focuses on high class wait staff. Even the waiter pouring a beer for my friends was done elegantly by rolling it on a napkin at the table to mix the contents with the ball inside. For an appetizer we got the parker rolls, it was some of the best bread I have had in the world. The butter was soft and spreadable, a small thing that most restaurants can't get right. For lunch I landed on the roast beef sandwich with truffle fries. It was delightful in every way. The beef was succulent, well cooked, and flavorful. The bread was firm yet soft so held up well to being dipped in au jus. And the horseradish was creamy and lightly drizzled on the meat so it was visually appealing as well as tasty. The truffle fries were great, but the truffle aioli was a true shining light in fried potato consumption that should be sung of frequently and loudly. I look forward to trying the other things on the menu so will absolutely be making the little journey out there again. Hope to see you there. read more

Our server Zachary was amazing! The last time I had. A server who was so professional friendly and made you feel at an extreme elevated dining was at bazaar meats in Chicago. Round of applause to you for your exceptional service from beginning to end! Me and boyfriend were wanting to come here for Valentine's Day but it was all booked up except for lunch... so we decided to give the night before a shot and the only availability was 9:15/9:30,( im guessing that 9:30 was the last seating being that the kitchen closes at 10 . I'm assuming we ordered at 9:40 but the food didn't arrive till about 10:10 ... was a bit concerned they forgot it. It did come out delicious at the end ( fish and chips and Wellington! ) We had sticky pudding for dessert which was delicious but the caramel syrup was so sweet we couldn't finish it. I am just knocking off one star bc of how slowly the food had arrived and maybe not enough signage to know that it's Gordon's restaurant if it wasn't for the name at the entrance and on the doggie bag to go read more

My husband and I are fans of Gordon Ramsey, and were excited to see he is finally expanding into the Chicagoland area. We both been to the Hell's Kitchen in Vegas, and had an amazing experience there. We decided to finally try this location, and overall we're pleased. The place has a pleasant and modern ambience. We were seated by the kitchen, and was fun to see all the dishes get passed out. Our server was very pleasant as well, and did a fantastic job staying on top of our table while still giving us time to eat. I absolutely miss the beef wellington and sticky toffee pudding, so that was #1 on our to-order. I added the scallops with my wellington. For $21 add-on, I only got two scallops. The wellington was extremely tender and moist, and the pastry perfectly crispy. However, I felt as if the wellington was missing something as it tasted a bit more bland than the one I had at Hell's Kitchen. Scallops were beautifully seasoned, but a bit on the rubbery side. My husband enjoyed his prime rib special, which for the price he got a decent amount of food. Of course the sticky toffee pudding was pure perfection! Overall the food was delicious. A wonderful addition to the Chicagoland area. Like I said, we both are big fans of his food and will be back again to try other entrees here. A great place to just get dinner, meet friends, or to have a nice celebratory meal. read more

Going to a Ramsay restaurant had been on my bucket list for years. Then miraculously, one opened near me! It took a while to get reservations at a desirable time, so plan well in advance for that! We were here to celebrate our anniversary. The service, ambiance, and food were impeccable! The interior is warm, clean and inviting. Our server, Seth, had exceptional attention to detail and was the epitome of professionalism. Food- everything was fantastic. I had the crispy skin salmon, and my husband and I shared the Brussels sprouts and Mac and cheese side. I literally do not like Brussels sprouts, but when I saw they were cooked with pork belly, croutons and honey I was intrigued. And WOW. these were actually my favorite part of the meal! But there was no losers here. Everything was perfect and the portion size was nice too. Not too small, not too big. My husband took home half his fish and chips (the piece of fish was MASSIVE), and some of the Mac and Brussels. It was truly a memorable experience. We want to come back to try more of the menu soon! read more

Overall, just OK. We thought the menu was very limited and pricey. However, we also thought the wine list was good and fairly priced. The atmosphere was very nice. We were seated in a sort of, separate area upfront, which made the evening very enjoyable. As for the food, we had a special, beef Wellington for two, a risotto with shrimp and scallops, and a large harvest salad we split between 3, before our entrees, finally a large harvest salad with chicken. The salads were reasonably price and a good portion size, easily shared between 3 of us, before our entrees. The entree portions leaned towards the smaller size, just barely enough. As for their tastes, they were just OK, nothing special, at all. But for the salads and wine everything else was about 25% over priced, in my opinion. In the end, I doubt we be back, except for a drink. read more

Overall experience was mixed, and I'm not sure if it was because my expectation was too high because of the name of the restaurant. Restaurant looks pretty nice and clean. We were with a big party of around 20 people so we somewhat expected that it would be difficult for the waiting staff. That being said, a couple of people on my side of the table were consistently ignored by the waitress. We were skipped when she was taking drinking orders, appetizer orders, and entree and dessert service (our food came out last). We had to flag the waiting staff to take our orders. On top of that, we had to wait over an hour for entrees -- the reason for a pre fixe menu for large parties is to prevent exactly this from happening. You would expect that for such a long wait for the entrees, at least the entrees would be served at roughly the same time. Nope, some of us had to wait for an additional 10-20 minutes, which is ludicrous for the price point of this restaurant. As for the food, the vision for the entrees were there, but lacks in execution. Beef Wellington had pretty much no sauce, which was a shame because the sauce pulls the dish together. The turnips and carrots were confusing at best, because the flavor was not integrated into the dish, so they tasted more like an afterthought. My filet was a textbook medium rare, but others had their Wellington overcooked to medium. A restaurant of this caliber should not serve an overcooked Wellington. Potato puree was on the verge of being lumpy. Sticky toffee pudding was phenomenal, easily top 10 dessert I have ever had. read more

I was visiting town this week and was ecstatic to learn that my friends had booked a reservation at this place while I was in. We went on a Tuesday night, and even then this placed was packed! The table we were sat at was called the "Chef's Table," and had a lazy susan in the center to help rotate food around it for everyone. Our waiter, Garret, was incredibly friendly and super helpful when answering all my questions! He helped me make several choices for the evening and I can say that he never let me astray. I started the evening with the Behind Blue Eyes cocktail, which was presently sour and pretty to look at. The table also ordered some parker house rolls. They were hit and miss depending on who you asked, but I enjoyed the buttery, herby-ness of them. For my entree, I ordered the Chicken Milanese. This was a breaded chicken filet on top of some Dijon cream sauce and topped with dressed arugula, shaved gruyere cheese, and prosciutto. The chicken itself I found dry, but the other additions to the plate help make up this moisture. Overall it was a great dish and I basically licked the plate clean. Everyone else at the table also enjoyed their dinners and cocktails, and said they would definitely come back. My only warnings would be: be prepared to walk as parking is crazy, and also come ready to spend some $. read more

My boyfriend and I came here last night to check another one of Gordon's restaurants off of our list. I don't know what we were expecting but everything was incredible and blew us away. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, it was relaxing yet upscale at the same time. Everything was cohesive throughout the entire place. They had two entrances which I liked, one on the main road along with one in the back so you don't have to walk around to the front if you park in the lot behind the restaurant. Our server was absolutely delightful, she explained everything to us and was incredibly excited to be there with us our first time. She was very knowledgeable about everything and proud to be apart of this establishment. The food was delicious. Everything we had continued to blow us away and is just disappointing that we can't eat this every night. The appetizers we impeccable, the tartar was incredibly fresh and light. The soup was deep and rich. Both of the main courses were beyond flavorful. They both melted in your mouth, it felt like you didn't even need to chew. The scallops were like butter and packed with an amazing flavor. The Wellington was a journey of flavorful parts, everything worked so well together. Our dessert was very light and incredibly tasty, there was so many components to it. It was absolutely amazing. Overall this was an incredible experience and we can't wait to come back already. Hubby and I finally got to try Ramsay's Kitchen for date night. Service was very attentive throughout the night and our server made sure to check on us often. The booth we were sitting at was very cold and drafty. However, it was an exceptionally cold day in Chicago and not entirely the fault of the restaurant. We ordered the tuna tartare, beef wellington, and the classic sticky toffee pudding. The tuna tartare was tasty but nothing special and small portion. The beef wellington was cooked to a perfect temperature and the accompanied potato puree was excellent and buttery. The crust was a bit soft and difficult to cut through without it falling apart. I would've preferred it to be more crusty. The sticky toffee pudding was definitely the highlight of the night. Hubby had tried it at the Las Vegas Ramsay restaurant and was not too impressed. But he thought this location had knocked it out of the park! It was perfectly warm, gooey, and not overbearingly sweet. We marked the reservation as a celebration of our wedding anniversary and the server was so kind to comp the dessert. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would recommend for a special occasion. Ok. So my Son specially requested his birthday be celebrated at Ramsey's Kitchen in Naperville because we went there last summer and had an amazing beef Wellington dish. I made the reservation one week in advance and specifically asked if our 3pm appointment would be acceptable to order the beef Wellington since this is the dish my Son requested. The lady said oh yes, we serve it all day. Great! I made a reservation for seven and we arrived promptly at 3pm on feb 22nd. Once seated at the table, the first thing the waitress told us was the full menu was available except the beef Wellington. We all thought it was a joke, but sadly, no it was not. Since we were all there and seated we decided to order from the rest of menu despite all our disappointment especially my 35 year old Son. The waitress took our drink order, appetizer order, and main course order. The drinks never showed up until all the appetizers were on the table. I had to ask the appetizer servers to please get our drinks out to us, if they wouldn't mind. The drinks then came pretty much right away after that . The appetizers were awesome. We all enjoyed the crab cakes, peppers, hot buns, But the main courses were pretty average and nothing special. A few of us got the fish and chips and a few the prime rib sandwich. I've had 100% better prime rib sandwiches at Cooper's hawk where they serve their fries in a heated vessel and give the au jus on the side for dipping as well as a creamy sauce. This Ramsey allegedly prime rib sandwich was a lower grade of sliced roast beef slapped on a homemade bun with fries on the side and a side of ketchup! Not what I was expecting for Ramsey. The fish was a jumbo piece of breaded fish thrown on the plate. Again pretty average. The very mixed state of the restaurant demonstrated the place seems to be in a bit of disarray. I feel slighted to say the least , as I was trying to provide my Son with his requested favorite dish for a landmark birthday. Although the Manager (allegedly the Manager) came up to the table to apologize, I felt it was an empty apology. At the end of the dinner, the waitress gave us a couple coupons to come back another time. My Son said he will never be coming back. If it were not for my immediate family making light of the situation and still dining in a celebratory manner, it would've been a disaster. A few issues here: 1. we were never informed at any point the signature dish would be unavailable prior to being seated. 2. There seemed to be one waitress for the whole restaurant. 3. Nobody cared enough to want to make the seven disappointed people even slightly happy we picked that restaurant. 4. If we were told prior to seating, it would have been so much better. A call preferably would have been professional. But even prior to seating would have been better than the unhappy birthday surprise. As stated, I was given a couple coupons for my next visit after the bill was paid. Luckily I planned the desert at my home afterward, and that went well because I was organized. read more

We were excited to finally try this one. High expectations from a leader in the culinary arts. Ended up doing the Thanksgiving dinner with friends and it was a blast. The food was great. Cooked perfect in flavor and temperature. Portions where OK, not over the top midwestern fall off the plate, but there is no need for that here. The wait staff was incredible. Very attentive. Genuinely nice. The only down side was the price. But, we expected it to be higher end. For what you get, it's a little much, but again, good quality. Location is ok. Heard a lot of positive reviews for this place, so my sister and I dropped in for Saturday lunch. I understand needing reservations for dinner, but for Saturday lunch? The side booth area was completely empty, and five tables in the back were occupied by couples. Walk-ins, which there were many, were seated at the bar. Weird with all the open tables, but sure. All tables were reserved, or so we were told. I've worked retail and food service, and that many empty tables was a sign that they need more staff to fill the lunch shift. About ten minutes later, we were seated at a booth, which was very nice. The waitstaff were knowledgeable, helpful, and delivered a high caliber of service. As more staff appeared from the back, more of the patrons at the bar were seated. My sister and I had salads, which were very good. Our plates were freshly prepared and the ingredients were a high quality. This is a new restaurant, so I will update my review in the near future. read more

Last Friday was my 1st dining experience at Ramsay's. I tried a few times to make reservations, and finally was able to do so. I didn't like the reservation process. I made them online, but did not receive an immediate confirmation. I called the restaurant to verify my confirmation went through, and they said that they do not confirm reservations until the day before. Seriously? How can you plan your evening if you don't know if you reserved a table or not? The restaurant is an open concept with a bar area in front and open kitchen in the middle surrounded by tables. The volume level is high, but luckily we were sat at a banquette in a corner so we positioned ourselves next to each other instead of across the table so we could talk more easily. The service is very good at the restaurant. All the staff is on top of their game. Our server Umberto was attentive, friendly and made great suggestions. My husband started with an old fashioned, which was very good. I had FOMO because I just had a glass of rosé. Next time! We shared the tuna tartare which was fresh, marinated tuna surrounded by slices of avocado. My only complaint was two wontons were just two too little. My husband had the nightly special, shrimp and grits. It was absolutely delicious, rich, and creamy. I opted for the scallops with pork belly, citrus & apricot purée. The richness of the scallops with the fatty pork belly paired perfectly with the acidity of the citrus and purée. We ended our meal sharing the mascarpone cheesecake. Delicious in every way. This is a pricey restaurant as we spent just under $200 with tip for our meal, but that's expected for excellent service and quality food. I will definitely be back to dine here again. Hopefully they'll improve on their confirmation communication when a reservation is made. read more
