I love that downtown Wheaton has a little bit of everything! I finally came to Molos for my birthday from the outside. It looks quite small, but we were seated all the way in the back which turned out to be nicely spacious yet still intimate. You are a group of four, and one person had never had Mediterranean food before here's what we ordered for the table: 5/5- Grilled Octopus- a great hot starter for those who enjoy seafood, perfectly tender and flavorful with oregano and lemon. 3/5 Tasting Plate- Included three dips: - Meliizanosalata- eggplant dip - Skordalia (GF)- whipped potatoes with garlic unfortunately the garlic was very strong and overpowered the dip. - Tzatziki (GF) - also extremely garlic, which made it hard to enjoy One major plus the restaurant offers a ton of gluten-free options, including gluten-free pita bread, which is such a rare and a welcome find! Dinner: 5/5- Horiatiki (GF)- Greek village salad with vine, ripened, tomatoes, cucumber, barrel, aged feta, red onions, peppers, Kalamata, olives, and an oregano. I'm not a huge fan of olives, but I do appreciate the flavor they add to the salad, the small portion was perfect, especially paired with two grilled souvlaki skewers- tender, juicy juicy and well seasoned. 2/5- Greek Potatoes- These were a mess from me. Typically Greek potatoes are crispy with a bright zest of lemon but these like both honestly Petes grocery store does them butter. Service our server was wonderful. I initially ordered a Cosmo, but it tasted strongly of black licorice. Without hesitation, he happily switched it for a glass of red wine. Overall, it was a great experience with friendly service, flavorful dishes, and a cozy atmosphere. Plus, both the chicken and lamb are halal, which is a great bonus!

The food, service and ambience was simply delightful and delicious! We all ordered something different and it was just wonderful. The halibut was gorgeous, the salad with salmon was one of the best! The triple appetizer with the skordalia was Impeccable. I highly recommend this place if you want great authentic Greek cuisine. A bit pricey but incredible food!

I went there at 6:00 on a Friday night. I was surprised at how nice it is inside, with a very homey feel. It had the perfect balance of having plenty of other diners, yet being able to be seated quickly. The service was very friendly and efficient, with plenty of staff taking care of you. As a guy who drinks a lot of water, I also liked having the bottle of water served to my table automatically. I ordered a small, Greek salad which was fresh and tasty. My main course was the Colorado lamb shank with Greek oven-baked potatoes. It is also available with rice or fries if you prefer. The lamb shank was delicious, very tender and perfectly seasoned. What really surprised me was the tomato sauce. When I've had this dish at other good Greek restaurants, the accompanying tomato sauce was a non-factor, a simple sauce. The sauce here at Molos had a more complex taste to it, which added some nice flavor, yet didn't detract from the flavorful lamb. In summary, the ambiance is pleasant, the service is excellent, the people friendly, and the menu is extensive. As I looked around, I saw lots of couples, families, and groups of friends - all happy. I highly recommend.

    Grilled octopus

My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner. The grilled octopus is fabulous. The Greek chicken serving was enormous and delicious can't remember ever having a moister chicken. Highly recommend. Great waitress and lovely atmosphere.

Such a good restaurant. They have very good authentic greek food here and it's good every time. The staff is very kind and generous as well. They just remodeled so it's larger inside and but still has a cute and quaint vibe. Prices are higher but I do feel it's worth it for the experience you get. There is also a nice bar inside. Located right off of a train stop as well so it's convenient if you're just passing through. Super delicious place.

Tasting Plate - Pikilia of house-made spreads with Skordalia, Taramosalata, and Tirokafteri served with pita

Best Greek food in Illinois! Fresh, flavorful. Just like Yiayia's (grandma's) recipes & some modern twists/flare on traditional Greek dishes. Excellent drink menu & good vibes

Went here on Saturday at 5 for a family birthday dinner. The inside was decorated super cutely and was a lot bigger than it looks. It was empty when we came in, but quickly filled up by the time we got our appetizer. It does get a little loud when it is crowded, so if you're looking for a more quiet setting, I would come around when they open. The dining areas were very clean. Our server was attentive and helpful with explaining the dishes, and the bussers were quick to clear our table throughout the meal. Highlights include the saganaki being lit table side, the birthday baklava treat, and the overall freshness of the food. I got the souvlaki in a pita and the chicken was juicy and seasoned well. The fries were not too greasy or soggy and they gave a large portion. The standout was definitely the side of tzatziki! It paired perfectly with the pita, chicken, and fries. Overall, this is our new go-to Greek place. We're excited to come in the summer and sit outside under the string lights.

Tried this place a few weeks ago and have been back twice since. Food is extremely flavorful, fresh and portion sizes are generous. A few dining rooms to choose from, but great for a night out with friends, family or date night. Service is good, but when it gets busy you may have to wait for a bit. All in all a great experience and my new go to for great Greek food!

adorable little place. very clean and very elegant!! the dishes are minimalistic with a short list of ingredients but so packed with flavor. the olive oil is to die for. i got the Theodora salad and picked at some other plates. portions are fair relative to price.

    Expired beer

The food is alright. It's slightly overpriced for what you get. Note I'm here right now (10/3) and after drinking my beer see that it was expired. Tip was based on AFTER tax amount.

Had a reservation for a Saturday night for my wife's birthday. We arrived a little early which was not a problem because they had open tables. They wanted to sit us by the door but I asked for a different table. Tables for 2 are very small! We were greeted by our server Bob who was very nice but seemed rushed. We told him it was our first time and he asked if we were celebrating anything. We told him a birthday. We started with a bottle of their Greek red wine which was amazing except he spilled some on our appetizer plates and never brought back new ones. Since my wife is Gluten free, they have many good items to choose from which is a plus. Started with the cold appetizer tasting plate Pikilia. We had the Taramosalta which consisted of whipped Greek cod and potatoes ( Our favorite) ,Tirokafteri which was whipped Spicey feta and Skordalia which was whipped potatoes and garlic. (Our least favorite) Came with gluten free pita . Our main entrees were Souvlaki with chicken and pork. It comes with fries but we asked to substitute the fries for their Molos Greek potatoes. I think the server got confused because we got both and paid extra. Also had the Greek pork chops with roasted potatoes. Very good but could have had a dipping sauce as they were slightly dry. Would have loved to give them 5 stars as the food is amazing but service is lacking. Empty plates are not cleaned in a timely manner and since they close at 9pm you feel rushed. Plus they never acknowledged my wife's birthday when other patrons received a free dessert. We will definitely be back ,maybe in the summer when they have outdoor seating to try a few more of their authentic homemade Greek dishes.

Does anyone know if there is a happy hour here?

I don't believe there are regularly scheduled happy hours at Molos Greek Taverna, but they have posted specials for specific dates in the past on Facebook. Those usually happen on Wednesday/Thursday evenings starting a 4:30 pm when they open.…

And, dare I say, better version. Except for their avgolemeno soup. Such a weak travesty. Please fix this. It's just a watery mess. However, everything else is delicious. I ordered the Greek Chicken with their lemon-butter rice. They debone the chicken and serve atop a mountain of their rice. If also had their potatoes (which are good) but the rice is magical. The first time we went, they had a serve yourself soda fountain and they since got rid of it and sell soda in bottles and cans. They do still have a self-serve water station. Once you order, staff will bring to your table, so please tip when you order or leave on the table as they do come by and clear your table as well. It is first come first served and you grab your own tables. I've been there on weekends and weeknights and they get pretty packed. The food is flavorful and quite tasty. Since there was a total of 11 and the seating is first come first serve, we decided to call to see if they had reservations. They did take our name and reserved a table. When we arrived we noticed a table was reserved and we were informed that it was our table. We sat and looked over the menus. When we were ready my 2 boys and I went up to place our order. My one son has major allergies so we spoke to the chef and he came back out to recommend the dishes he can have. It was great that he did so and gave us confidence that my son would be able to eat without worrying too much about the ingredients. I ordered the Shrimp Kalamakia with a side of the Greek Rice. My son with the allergies ordered the Pork Kalamakia with Greek Rice and no pita, my other son ordered the Traditional Pork Gyro with Greek Rice. The sides we ordered: Saganaki Fritters and Spanakopitakia. My son that ordered the Pork Kalamakia devoured it. He said it was tender and juicy and probably could have eaten 4 skewers. My Shrimp Kalamakia was nicely charred and seasoned, I squeezed some lemon and it provided a nice tang over the seasoning. The Lemon rice pilaf was soft and cook just right and was nicely balanced. I had one Saganaki Ball and it was delicious. My son had the Pork Gyros said it was really good and the Tzatziki sauce was creamy and rich with flavors. My in-laws bought the table desserts and I got the Baklava and my wife got Loukoumades (Greek Donuts with Nutella) and both did not disappoint. I really loved the citrus honey syrup in the Baklava. The Loukoumades had a crispy shell and nice a fluffy on the inside and the Nutella amount was perfect. This place is very good and well worth the price in my opinion. I loved the fact that they took the time to make sure my son with allergies was safe.

However, since this Lombard location opened, I think at least a decade ago we've definitely been coming here consistently. Even though I don't put a review of every single time I visit. However, my last review of this place was over four years ago, so I thought it was about time to update this. I still give it a solid four stars because this place is key and king on consistency. If there's one thing you can rely on here is that that same recipe from 10 years ago or 30 years ago is still the same good recipe today. And that is absolutely fantastic. I do believe the portions have gotten slightly smaller over the years and obviously prices have gone up, but this is to be expected. The only downfall of this location is that they never take reservations that if you come during peak hours, you better expect to wait even over and up to an hour. Something else that I've seen really evolved at this place is that when they originally first opened, including the Greektown location, all servers, including bus, boys, etc., were all Greek that has definitely changed now over the years The parking lot here is still very generous however during peak times beware it will be hard to find the parking space and there is no valet. Well, consistency is fantastic. I do wish they had expanded the menu to make lokoumades dessert. It's one of my favorites and they still don't offer it.

Background: It was our son's birthday, MOST of the time, birthday dinners are home-cooked family affairs...his choice this year: Apolis run! We live forty minutes away, and it's worth the ride every time. Our party of seven lined up, placed our orders, and the kitchen got to work. Entrees and sides prepared perfectly, right down to sauce on the side for the seventh entree. It was a pleasure to meet the owner, Mike G. I had the opportunity to thank him for years of great eating. Furthermore, I noticed the sign of a great leader: When it got busy, he jumped in and helped his amazing staff. He leads by example, and it shows. We all had various forms of rice bowls and pitas. Of special note this visit: The sides! The pork and chicken souvlaki are simply divine. The oven roasted Greek potatoes seems like they're right out of your favorite rah-ra's oven. Full of flavor, and mind-blowing.
