I came here with a friend last night and we had a very enjoyable experience. We love downtown Wheaton and wanted to try something new. Our waiter was really sweet and provided excellent service. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing- it was great for a chill girls night out! The pasta was delicious! My friend ordered one of the specials from last week that she saw posted online. They were able to accommodate her and make it even though it was last week's special. She ordered it with the penne. It came in a creamy white sauce with blackened shrimp and broccoli. I tried it and it was soooo good! I ordered the rigatoni allá vodka with crumbled sausage and it was perfect. I really loved the large rigatoni and the taste of the sausage. I would definitely recommend this Italian restaurant! read more

I had high hopes to find authentic tasting Italian food. This is not it. The food was alright but is nothing like Italy. Also our deep fried burrata was cold but didn't want to complain. We really have to love somewhere to return so we won't be back. On a side note, the servers were kind. read more

I chose Positano in Wheaton because I've always enjoyed the Oak Brook location and was curious to see how this one compared. The Wheaton space feels more modern, though it lacks some of the warmth and charm I associate with Oak Brook. It was very busy and louder than I prefer, which made the experience feel a bit less intimate. That said, the bar area is inviting, and I can definitely see myself stopping in for a drink and a small bite. Service didn't quite have the friendliness and polish I'm used to at the other location. It wasn't bad, just missing that extra touch that makes you feel truly welcomed. The food, however, delivered. The linguini vongole was perfectly al dente with a generous portion of clams, and the homemade meatballs over creamy polenta were a standout appetizer. They craft a solid Negroni, though the Old Fashioned could use a bit more attention. Overall, it's a good option in town, and I may return. But with strong competition nearby, it has to work just a little harder to rise to the top. read more

Dinner last night at Positano was lovely, the ambiance, the value and the food (especially the Chicken Milanese)..... Howeva the service was dreadful, it took way to long to get our orders correct and refilling wine gave us the impression they didn't want to sell us anymore. read more

It started bad the moment we walked in. The entire dining room was empty, but the hostess wanted to sit us at the window next to the only other customers directly outside next to us . We waited 10 minutes for our server to finally come and take our drink order. Although he was nice, he was very slow. Had to remind him twice for extra bread. The burrata came without tomatoes. And each of our main courses were not up to the quality and standards we are used to at the Oak Brook location. Three out of four of us didn't even finish or want to bring it home. And I didn't feel very good the entire next day. The owner was there and usually would say something. I regret not saying something to him last night. read more

We just came by tonight for dinner on the patio and had a lovely time. First up - love that they take reservations for the patio. It's few and far between so absolutely love when we find a place who allows it! Better yet a dog friendly patio! Add in delicious food and some homemade noodles and it's perfect. It was a beautiful night with delicious food and great service. We will be back for sure! Thanks for having us! read more

Gnocchi Marinara Limoncello Martini Linguini Fruitta di Mare Arancini Di Riso There's a formal dining room and a casual bar seating area which are not adjoining. We chose the more casual environment and it was a very charming place for a holiday dinner. The service is friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was very welcoming. While all the food and drinks were all good, the star was the Fruitta di Mare which was better than it had any right to be when we're in the Chicago land area and we're eating seafood. Definitely recommend it. This is a great addition to the neighborhood and we will definitely be coming back. read more

Everything about this place says Italian dinning. The staff are excellent especially Frankie our server. She is amazing, friendly, energetic, and just a great personality. The manager came out and asked how everything was. She also has a great personality. Customer service completely down pat. Your staff gave us an excellent experience for a wedding anniversary dinner. The canolli dessert was so tasty, flaky, creamy, and chocolate drizzle. Overall the best experience I've had dining out in a long time. Thank you so much. read more

Wonderful atmosphere, food, and service. We made a reservation for 9:30 PM and were the only people in the restaurant. They serve fresh bread while you look through the menu and wait for your food. We ordered the fried calamari, Rigatoni Baragiano, and Pappardelle al Nonno. I loved the fresh noodles in the pappardelle and the sauce/meat of the rigatoni. I recommend both dishes but enjoyed the rigatoni most. A cute romantic Italian restaurant in downtown Wheaton. read more

I went to celebrate my birthday with my husband. We weren't asked if we were celebrating anything so I didn't have the chance to tell them it was my birthday. The waiter was nice but another waiter bought my husband a drink out with lipstick still on the glass showing that they don't wash their dishes which is disgusting. The food lacked flavor the lemon drop was good but I wish I would've celebrated my birthday elsewhere. I wasn't offered fresh Parmesan for my pasta so I just used the grated one. I will not be returning. read more

Review is from a vegetarian's angle. This a fairly fancy "classic" Italian restaurant; wine menu includes Dom Perignon. I chose the formal dining room, as opposed to the bar. Service was solicitous and they were playing Sinatra. I was here early so there was ample parking; it's across from a parking lot if street parking fills up. They have a surprising number of vegetarian options: in addition to the salads, which I always ignore, they have 7 different pasta dishes including 2 kinds of ravioli and 3 of 5 pizzas, plus a build-your-own option. If you want a vegetable other than red sauce, spinach or eggplant, you'll need to get a side. The only veg appetizer is the bruschetta, as the risotto has chicken stock in it. What I wanted was manicotti and they don't have it, so I got the Eggplant Positano (basically manicotti but eggplant subbed for pasta), a French Martini and the limoncello cheesecake. My server was happy to get a light pour on the martini and sub garlic mashed potatoes for the pasta that came with my main. Garlic was a bit subtle but the potatoes were otherwise fine. The pasta is house-made, so you might prefer that. The drink and dishes were well-executed (not a huge eggplant fan but it was pretty good; textures were fine; not too much breading) and the entree portion generous. Nothing here will bring me running back, but if you're a vegetarian prowling for a fancy Italian dinner, this is a solid choice. Four stars for limited vegetarian appetizer options and no lasagna or manicotti. read more

The food is awful. Bland and no flavor. Ambiance is wonderful but needs a new chef. Been there three times I'm done. My friends went a week ago and said the same thing. Food is terrible. I would love to see this restaurant be a success. Without a new chef the restaurant will be out of business. I pray that doesn't happen. read more

Had dinner here June 7th, started off well, beautiful ambience. Food was so so, Vodka sauce had very little flavor, homemade pasta was good. Charged $4 per shrimp is outrageous, not Jumbo and average taste. My friend had the Chicken Parmigiana and after her first bite she said this isn't is tasty as I'm use to this dish being. Then we had to track down the waiter for the bill as it was crowded now. We arrived at 5:30 so it was not busy then. We will not go back, the lack of flavor is the main issue. read more

So good! Frankie, our waitress was outstanding. My advice is to order things to share. That way, you don't have to choose. The apps are delicious, loved everything. It's a lovely space for a special location. We will be back. read more

I had the Risotto alla Positano, Arborio rice with porcini mushrooms, grilled shrimp, and scallops in a saffron broth with fresh tomatoes. Every bite was rich, balanced, and full of flavor. I hadn't had Italian food in a while, and this reminded me of what I've been missing. My wife had the stuffed eggplant, and she said she loved it -- it was great. It was my first time back since this new restaurant replaced Wok n Fire, and I have to say the transformation is impressive. The space feels open and welcoming. Walking in to the sound of Sinatra playing at just the right volume set the tone perfectly. Service was excellent. The staff was warm, professional, and attentive without being overbearing. read more

From the moment you walk in, everything is on point--the atmosphere, the service, and the genuine friendliness of the staff. The food was phenomenal, and their spumoni dessert was especially outstanding. Coming from an Italian family, I know what to look for in authentic flavors, and this place truly delivered. My cousin had a baby at CDH and we were looking for a nice place to eat locally after visiting. Five of us decided on Positano, Wheaton. We all agree that our experience was a 10 out of 10. Super classy vibe, and the food-from salads to pastas to dessert-was excellent. The service was truly exceptional, and the very personable owner stopped by to say a quick hello, which was really sweet. It's rare to find a place that gets everything right, but this one does. Highly recommend! read more

First visit to this location, we loved the food!! Started with Arancini appetizer which was perfect, the sauce is amazing. Then we each ordered different pasta bowls, loved them and can't wait to try them all. The best part of the evening was our server, Sky. He performed the role very well and showed a sincere kindness which is very rare. This pleasant experience is exactly what we needed on a random Saturday night. Well done!! read more

My girlfriend wanted to take me somewhere special for my birthday so picked Positano Wheaton as it's close by, love Italian food and this looked like a unique Italian restaurant instead of the normal Mama Meatball places. I also liked the reviews by Chicago people who said it was as good as places in the city (yes I used to live in the city and miss it.) Greeted warmly by staff and got a seat in the bar area seating (as opposed to the main seating area which I'll try next time) but this was perfect as Bears and Packers Pt 1 was on tv which was fun to observe but too much was happening at our table for me to really focus on them. The server was smart, funny and super attentive without being overly so and when she didn't know what wine to recommend she sent over a sommelier who set us up with a nice Italian vintage. We started with the mussels. These were ok. Seemed slightly pre-made but this was the only small knock on our entire fantastic meal. Next course was the Pasta: we selected the Rolled Eggplant with ricotta and mozz on top. Got it with "easy cheese" and it was perfectly sumptious and had the exact easy cheese as requested. The eggplant was cooked perfectly and was so very tasty. On the main course, if you've never had Veal this is the place to try it. I love a good Veal Milanese or Parmesan and the Milanese was perfect! Breaded, lightly pan fried with Arugula, large shavings of Parmesan cheese and a properly cooked Polenta side. Delicious! The meal ended with a homemade fluffy, light, exquisite Tiramisu to send us both home very satisfied and happy. Thank you Positano family! read more

5 stars all the way!!! Great food! As good as a great restaurant in Italy! Service was attentive and caring. Honestly- the best Italian food I have ever had in Chicagoland. The music and lighting was perfect. When we arrived we immediately were given the menus and water. The warm bread and olive oil dipping mix was served within a couple of minutes- with a pleasant- let me know if you want more. The Grigliato Misto was better than what I was served in Italy, the Chicken Parmesan was amazing and the Eggplant Positano was authentic. Normally I never have Tiramisu - but theirs is the best, lightest I have ever tasted. I'll be back! And soon! read more

Great Food and Service always a Good Place to gather for food! Food is always hot and delicious can't go wrong!

Really good Italian food. The place is big and was busy. Didn't seem too loud like others stated in other comments. Had a very nice experience went 2 other couples and we stayed for almost 3 hours! read more

My new favorite Italian restorant! Service was excellent as well as the food. Huge portions, I got 3 more meals from my take home leftovers.

Well, kind of disappointed, food was average at best, server was great the one time we saw him during our two hour service. Food combinations are little unusual and non-traditional. I think that there are better Italian restaurants in the area like fire and wine. Nice for a date, beautiful ambiance but not worth the $200 we spent for four of us. I really wanted to love this place, came highly recommended. read more

Great new Italian restaurant just south of the train tracks in downtown Wheaton. Friendly staff and very prompt service. They definitely aim to please. Decor is modern black and white, which may feel a little sterile to some people, or hip and modern to others. The main dining area is open with high ceilings, which brings up the only negative... noise levels will likely be quite high during peak dining. The Pollo Marsala was excellent, probably one of the best preparations I've ever had! The Pappardelle da Nonno, Vitello alla Limone, and Pollo Positano also got great reviews. Very nice wine selection. Overall, a great addition to the Wheaton dining scene! Highly recommend! read more

A lot of people throw around superlatives about things...this is the best etc etc...however often they are not entirely true. However Positano is absolutely the BEST restaurant in our entire area. From beginning to end...the greetings, the service, the drinks, the appetizers, the food, the desserts...this restaurant is UNMATCHED by any place I have ever been to. It never disappoints...and is truly the BEST around and a "must go" again and again. read more

Our first dinner at Positano was great! We saw it being renovated in Wheaton last year and finally got a chance to visit. We had the muscles in white sauce to start, which was very good obviously. I had the filetto marsala, rare, while my husband got the salsiccia di puglia. The steak was so good, very nice crust and perfectly rare. We also had a few cocktails, which were strong but balanced. For dessert we had the limoncello cheesecake, grappa, and a lemoncello shot. The cheesecake wasn't bad but also nothing special-- but the grappa and shot were so good! Our server was Nelson. Very funny and charming guy. Service was slower like with any popular restaurant downtown but faster than other nice Italian places we've been. Our plates were cleared at a reasonable pace and Nelson checked in with us at the right moments. The dining room is large and gave us plenty of space to eat and talk comfortably. Decor is very minimal and classy, nothing distracting or alarming. Lighting is low, warm, and intimate. Overall, our visit was a very comfortable and smooth experience. We'll definitely come again! 100% recommend read more

This was our first time visiting Positano in Wheaton & it was fantastic! Our server Nelson was remarkable! So attentive and you never had to call him over, he was there before you needed anything! The food was so delicious! The general manager was wonderful and came over to our table to welcome us! We were so very impressed with everything here! We will definitely be back and can't wait to tell all our friends and family just how great it was! Thank you!! Such a fantastic birthday celebration! read more
