Five stars all the way! Once again, we had a wonderful time at Urban Wine & Kitchen either friends. What a sweet, intimate place for get-togethers and unlike Naperville, parking is a breeze in downtown Lisle. Their wine list --by the glass or bottle-- is extensive, of course, but the food menu has a wide selection of delicious possibilities. We've occasionally ordered sandwiches or individual pizzas from their pizza oven-- right in-view behind the bar --but mostly we select hearty appetizer plates to share as a group. Delicious!! Those fired pizzas are quite shareable, too! Jessica was our server this time and she was up-beat, knowledgeable and attentive. We had dinner there last night and enjoyed it but a few things might lead us to go elsewhere for pizza/wine. Enjoyed our wine and our food. We tried two different wines we had not had before and while good - the 9 oz pours were a little pricy - given that a bottle in the store cost less than a single glass. They both paired well with our starter shrimp dish - which was nice and grilled. My husband thought it was a tad too salty - but I didn't notice the extra salt. We shared the Pizza Pollo pizza - definitely enough to share between two people. I enjoyed it more than my husband - more so b/c I liked the toppings more. But both agreeed that the crust was nicely done. As I write this review and look at my bill - I do see a 3% hospitality fee added on - which I find unpleasant and didn't notice last night. read more

I'd do a 3.5 if I could. The online ordering doesn't work. And the Margarita pizza is listed under their "red" side for pizza, but there was no sauce, only olive oil, cheese and tomato, and not even the fresh mozzarella that the picture shows, so essentially a cheese pizza with no sauce. I was so eager to check this place out and sadly I was a bit disappointed (with the menu not the actual location/restaurant). The meat/cheese boards awesome, get the bruschetta it's life changing, very cool vibes, love the setup inside, there is patio seating. I went in with the intent to order a pizza but we went with small plates. We wanted breaded mushrooms they didn't have any and they were also out of another item (strange). We ordered the baked meatballs and it tasted like spaghetti without the pasta. It was literally meat and cheese that's it. The wine list seemed to be a completely dry selection. I like fruit/sweet/dessert wines, their sweetest wine was a Riesling that tasted like a Chardonnay. The wines were literally Chardonnay/Cab/Pinot that's it (I tried four different wines). Cocktail list was very limited. There are four drinks, my cocktail (peachy clean) was terrible (had it remade still bad). The server was excellent, the staff seemed to care about the guests but I'm not sure I'll be back. If you love DRY WINES and pizza this place is for you! read more

Super cute atmosphere. Great music. Sadly, the wine selection is small and overpriced. The food... what a disappointment; also, overpriced. The presentation is embarrassing and the taste is bland. The charcuterie board is bare. Other than the meat and cheese that we chose from, we were given table crackers, almost a teaspoon of fig jam, and 6 olives. We also ordered Brie and Fig Bruschetta. Wish I tasted more EVOO, as both had no sauce. Wife really enjoyed the egg plant/chicken parm (very nice portion, under shareable). Pricing is similar to all others ($16-$18 pizza, $12-$15 app, drinks reasonable - this is a wine and whiskey (Four Roses) place, not much beer). Also ordered rose wine flight...they all tasted the same (dry, lacking aroma or flavor) - this is not their fault; recommend trying other wine flights, is all. Service was good (bartender doubled as waiter, given it was Tues 5pm and slow). I give it 4 stars mainly bc with so many pizzas on menu, expect a softer, flavorful, fluffy pizza crust from wood oven vs super thin and hard. Loretta took great care of us (great on recommendations, attentive but not intrusive, very knowledgeable about the menu), and we spoke with the couple who were working in the kicthen and they were lovely too. We came down here to visit the Morton Arboretum, and stopped in because they had great vegetarian options for my wife. What an adorable spot to have a girls/date night! They did such a great job here setting up seating/tables outside to accommodate for current times. I came here on a Friday night with one of my girlfriends and we really enjoyed ourselves. The servers were all wearing masks and the tables were nicely spaced out. The contact-less menus make a great option. The wine menu is HUGE! For my first glass I tried the Terrazas de los Andes Reserva, Chardonnay. I loved the creamy flavor and the hint of vanilla. I haven't had a Chardonnay like this before and I'd definitely order it again. I also tried the Sauvion Vouvray, Chenin Blanc. It was so refreshing with the citrus hints. The atmosphere here is very chill and there's so many options to choose from on their menu. The sharables selection is the only thing we explored during our visit but I saw so many things I wanted to try. We started with baked goat cheese. LOVE this dish. Their house-made marinara had a great flavor and the goat cheese was the perfect melt. I probably could have ordered this just for myself ha! Next we tried the baked meatballs. I liked that the size of them- not too big but not too small and you can taste that they were homemade too. The butcher boards looks incredible with so many unique selections. Their wood-fired pizza smelled so good also and need to try next time. They have gluten free and cauliflower crust options! We really appreciated the gluten-free options b/c of my friend's allergy. If this review were based on the food and wine alone I would have given 4 stars. Unfortunately, I can't give that extra star because of my poor experience. This place is located in the downtown Lisle area on a cute little street with many businesses. I found this place on Yelp and was extremely excited to check it out. To start, I had the baked meatballs and boy were they delicious! I also tried a wine flight which came with three wines. The wine was also excellent! Everything was going great and I couldn't wait to place my order so I could try the Diavola pizza!! When the waitress dropped off my appetizer I let her know that I was ready to order. She said one moment and never returned to my table for 20 minutes! The issue I have with this is that the place wasn't very crowded. She finally came back, but by then I was turned off that she had taken so long. I asked for the check and went to dine at another restaurant. As I mentioned, the meatballs and wine were good so I will probably give this place another chance in the future. I'm still very interested in trying the Diavola pizza. read more

I have never been to this wine bar before even though it's been open since 2019. My husband and I really enjoyed the experience from the friendly staff to the good food. The only thing my husband and I didn't share was our wine flights. I started out with a Sauvignon Blanc, a rosé and a robust Italian red. I loved that I could choose any of the wines to make up my wine flight. Great option! My husband choose a predetermined red wine flight from the menu. Their wine list is pretty good, from glass to bottle options. My husband loves bourbon and they only had a couple offerings, but remember this is not a whiskey bar. Come here for the wine. We enjoyed our wine with a charcuterie board with prosciutto, capicola, four cheeses, olives, crackers and fig jam. We also shared fig & brie and pear & walnut bruschetta. Again, you can choose what you want on your charcuterie from four to eight items. I love a good charcuterie board! Lastly, we shared an artichoke, tomato and whipped ricotta pizza. The only negative is the pizza was not charred enough for me. I like to see the char on my pizza, but it definitely was a Neapolitan pizza which I love. Jason, who took care of us, was great and Michael the chef was engaging and friendly. Michael told my husband that on Thursday nights there's life jazz and you must make reservations for that night. I did make reservations for dinner last night, but for some reason I received a text when I got home that my reservation was canceled. The restaurant uses SeatNinja for reservations. I don't know why it was canceled, but it was okay because it's not like Open Table where you get points. The space is minimally decorated and not large, maybe 7-8 tables plus the bar seating, so I would recommend reservations. I left with a beautiful wood handled board that I bought, too, for my charcuterie at home. I will definitely be back to this small wine bar and café. It's nice to have this place close to home and I like the vibe. We wore masks in the restaurant and also put them on when we used the restroom, but I was surprised that the two staff members who served us did not have masks on, only the chef did. That kind of bothered me especially with Covid numbers on the rise once again. Thought I'd mention it just in case that's a big deal to you. read more

We had a such a great experience here and really over ordered, because so many of the menu items were really appealing. We aren't wine drinkers, so we asked our waiter Jason if he could wing it for us on the cocktails, and off the cuff, he made some truly luscious cocktails. We had brought my elderly Mom in her wheelchair, and Jason was exceptionally attentive in making sure she was comfortable and enjoying everything about our time there. Never got the bat off my shoulder. I walked into the restaurant and noticed only two tables of customers. There was what looked like a server talking to a table. He walked up to me and told me to sit anywhere. I chose a high top at the back where there was TV before I sat down he said "you can't sit there" and told me it was reserved for groups of six. Mind you the place was empty and there were multiple large tables. He was extremely rude and condescending. I sat at small table and waited for my wife to arrive. For the next 5 minutes the server/cook/irritated man (may have been the manager or owner) stomped around the restaurant. At this point I decided to check check reviews on the restaurant. A couple of minutes later the guy says " sorry bud I have no food to cook today." I can't say I was disappointed so I got up and proceeded to leave. As I left he commented " I had a hard day." This was the most uncomfortable experience I ever had in a restaurant. After reading reviews, it looks like my experience was not far off. I unequivocally do not recommend this place!! read more

I was told by our extremely rude and snarky server, Jason that I'm "that" customer because I mentioned there was a bug in my wine. He said he would spoon it out for me. I think I was more shocked than offended because he was serious and kept arguing with me when I clearly just wanted a new glass of wine. Saying he's not going to give me a new glass of wine just because there's a bug in my glass. The glass was full by the way. After giving us the check, he looks back and screams "you don't have to tip me either!" Yes, other customers heard him, and they even came up to me to see if I was ok. I think they were appalled more than I was by his behavior. The whole experience was terrible and I would never recommend this establishment to my friends, family or anyone just based off of how I was treated. Maybe he had a bad day/night but that doesn't excuse his aggressive behavior towards a paying first time customer! I really wanted to like this place too. Disappointed! read more

Not sure how this place is in business if they treat all customers this way. Called on a Saturday and made a reservation for two for outdoor seating. The person that answered said no problem and took our name. Showed up 5 min before and a bartender/waiter said sorry no open seating outside, we tried to tell him we had made a reservation. He's response was, yea that doesn't matter, nothing available outside. (There was an empty dirty table outside). I caught the bartender/waiter again and said, well why was our reservation taken and he said the owner just takes reservations but she isn't at the restaurant so we (the restaurant workers) don't honor the reservations. We received no apologies, no explanations other than the owner takes reservations and they don't honor them. read more

So glad to see this place up and operating still through the winter. We came here a couple times over the summer and sat outside, and came back the other night to introduce a friend to the area.
