My cousin and I chose Sixty Four for our birthday celebration lunch. We sat outside along the river since it was a beautiful day. Chris was our server and provided great service and went above and beyond. My cousin and I decided to share the grilled oysters and the charcuterie. Chris noted my reservation said no nuts and seeds and he said that the charcuterie came with seeded lavish. He went through the lavish and only chose the ones without the seeds. Now that's service! The grilled oysters were amazing! Only four came on the plate and I wanted to eat all of them and not share. I will definitely get those again - and all to myself. The charcuterie was your typical charcuterie. You can choose your own cheeses and meats on the board which is nice. The only disappointing thing is no complimentary dessert for our birthdays. Lots of restaurants do that, but I guess not at this one. Get those grilled oysters, you won't be sorry. read more

THE MALBECKONING SixtyFour Wine Bar is a winning concept in downtown Naperville. Much like what Tapville Social does for beer, SixtyFour follows the concept of guests having the freedom to pour their own drinks. This place is on Water St in Naperville, near Vasili's and Blue Sushi Sake. Street parking isn't plentiful so the garage is your best bet, especially in the evening. You can build your own charcuterie, but use caution: everything is a la carte and without much effort that cute cheese platter can swell upwards of $40. This happened to us on our 1st visit, I thought "yeah sure, add a $4 honeycomb and seasonal jams, why not" to go with the $9 prosciutto, $7 manchego, and $5 cornichons. More recently, I got the restaurant week pre-fixe ($49) which included a starter, entrée, dessert, and glass of champagne. Each course separately would've added up to $55 (not counting the bubbly), so this option saved a few bucks. Both my wife and I got a pour-your-own wine card, that set us back about $20pp. The wifey got a mix of a dozen west coast & east coast oysters ($36) that came with cocktail sauce and a zippy pomegranate mignonette. The goat cheese bruschetta ($13) was incredible: goat cheese spread on several large pieces of grilled sourdough with roasted tomato and balsamic. We loved this and would get it again in a heartbeat. 5/5 The dates ($13) were a different story, however, as they came with cranberry goat cheese, orange honey, and crushed walnuts. I've been so used to savory dates (wrapped in bacon with a tomato sauce) that this much sweeter iteration caught me off guard. They weren't objectively bad, I just wouldn't order them again. 3/5 For my main course, I chose the short rib ($31) as I've done several times now: tender beef with mashed potatoes, braised carrots, crispy onions, and a red wine jus. This is a delicious entrée that I find myself steering towards every time I'm here, as it pairs perfectly with a Malbec or red blend. 5/5 The gnocchi ($33) were fairly pricey which I attribute to big chunks of lobster in a white sauce. But what SixtyFour did felt like a "bastardization" of gnocchi (my wife's words, not mine) by turning it into a homemade mac 'n' cheese of sorts, cooking it in a mini cast iron skillet topped with toasted breadcrumbs. Say what?! "Breadcrumbs" and "gnocchi" should never be used in the same sentence, unless it's "hey honey I did that grocery shopping, and I got beer, eggs, wine, gnocchi, ice cream, laundry detergent, kitty litter, AAA batteries and a box of breadcrumbs". It tasted fine, but there was absolutely no need to innovate here. 1.5/5 We reached a split decision on the dirty chai crème brûlée ($11). My wife thought it was different but lovely, whereas I found it strayed too far from vanilla custard and the flavor was overpowering, as if I just snorted tea leaves. It was REALLY strong, y'all! 3/5 Bread = 3.5 Circuses = 4.5 Our server Melissa was attentive and let us know about the wine tasting inside near the hostess' stand. We had a couple small pours (1-2oz) which equated to a free half glass, no complaints there. Restrooms were clean and the outside patio has a relaxing ambiance. The vibes are classy, romantic even. * TL;DR * It's fun sampling bold reds, sweet whites, and even rosé in 1oz, 3oz, and 6oz pours. I pity the fool who grabs a glass, sticks it underneath the first tap they see up front and presses 'POUR' without realizing they just selected a 2014 Chateau Haut-Brion ...... which retails for $500 a bottle! A half glass is nearly $75! I'll stick with a $7 Shiraz, thanks. As for the food, it's been mostly great with only a few exceptions. The gnocchi was whack, and the chai crème brûlée was polarizing. Due to the presence of delicate wine glasses literally everywhere, I would keep kids away from here. Leave the little ones at home and come here for date night. SixtyFour lists themselves as a wine bar first and kitchen second, which I agree with. If what you're seeking is a kitchen *and* wine bar, hit up a Coopers Hawk. Both places have solid wine selections, but being able to enjoy wine on-demand is a big plus. I'd happily recommend SixtyFour to friends and family. read more

LOVED this place! If you enjoy a nice glass of wine then this is your place. It's like a Dave and busters for wine lovers. You get a card that you can insert to each wine machine to get either a 1oz taste or a 6 / 9 oz glass of wine. I like that you can taste the wine before purchasing and as many as you'd like. Sometimes at a restaurant you can only taste a few. And all the machines are sealed which keep the wine very fresh. We only got the truffle Parmesan fries which were so delicious! SixtyFour Wine bar provides a fun and interactive way to taste different types wines. Alternatively, if you prefer to not try wine from the taps then there is a regular wine menu along with cocktails, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic options. For food we ordered truffle fries, shrimp scampi, and miso black cod. The truffle fries were a huge portion and nicely seasoned. The shrimp scampi tasted good, but nothing extraordinary. My friend who had the miso black cod enjoyed it. Our waitress made sure the check on us often and let us know when the kitchen was closing to see if we wanted to put in a final order of food. This place is a must for an oenophile! Such a well executed and neat place! We made a reservation and although I don't know if those are required here, I do recommend making one as this place fills up. We did have to call them to hold our table as nearby construction was making us run late. Apparently, this is something expected in Naperville with the construction and the sheer volume of people who frequent there (keep note). Our server Janna was polite and warm. She came around to check on us and gave recommendations when we asked. We were also able to learn about wines being produced in Texas since she's from there. We had a nice time. Wines on tap are segregated by color and style and are available by 1oz, 3oz, and 6oz pours. As you select your choices, your cost is tallied up and displayed on screen for convenience. They do have a cocktail menu, but we did not try any of those. I'm looking forward to visiting again to taste more wines and try more of their food menu. My husband, myself, and another couple decided to dine there for Valentine's Day this year. Unfortunately, Wine 64 DID NOT show us any love. We made an appointment, but still had to wait about 20 minutes for our table. I understand it's Valentine's Day, however, that's the purpose of making a reservation, correct? Once we were seated, it took TOO long before our drink order was taken. Once our server came, she seemed to be rushing us to make a decision, but luckily, we knew that we wanted the bottle of Krug. That too took a while to come, and when it did, it was warm. We asked to delay the pouring until it had a chance to chill, but that turned out to be a terrible mistake. The survey took so long to come back, that we opened and poured our bottle ourselves. For a a $200+ bottle of champagne, my expectations were MUCH higher. Once our server finally came back, we were ready to order. They didn't have one of the main courses on that menu, and some of us ended up settling for something we didn't want. The food was just as luke warm as the bottle, and the flavor was just not there. After the main course, we never heard from our server again, until she brought the check to the table. She did not offer dessert, even though we told her in the beginning that we were celebrating two birthdays. We ended up enjoying the rest of our bottle, taking a few pictures for the memory and leaving hungry and disappointed. We could have dined anywhere, but chose to support a local business. That was a a mistake and a lesson learned. I've been a patron of Wine 64 since 2018. Sadly, it's just not the same anymore. read more

An absolute pathetic set of workers. We asked for a table near the window and it just needed to be cleaned. We were told a couple of minutes and we said sure no problem. We got seated at a different table in the meantime. We ordered the appetizers and that got delivered. We weren't moved. Then we ordered the entrees and continued to wait for them to clean the table and move us. A few more minutes went by and we still waited. We asked and were yet again told a couple of minutes. Mind you, all that needed to be done was a couple of wine glasses needed to be moved and a cheese and cracker board. It would have literally taken them less than 60 seconds. The wait continued.... I walked up to the manager - Andrew. He tells me they are busy and that "I don't understand their situation". This is while he stood there and played with his tablet. At that point, we canceled our entrees, paid for our appetizer and walked out. An absolutely pathetic manager with ZERO customer service! We will not return. Manager's name is Andrew. Basically, we were never going to get moved! Between the hostess and him, we were just going to get dragged on. I have never had such a horrible experience!! read more

Great wine tasting dinner. Have been wanting to get to SixtyFour and so glad my first experience was a wine tasting dinner. The feature was on Spanish wines and included a 5 course dinner. Presentation was beautifully done with each wine and course being introduced by the wine representative and chef. They also have a separate room for the tasting which made the experience all the more enjoyable because we were all sharing the experience together in a well accommodated area that added to the ambiance. read more

The sixty four wine bar has something for everyone. Wine, cocktails, mocktails, appetizers and entrees. My colleague and I stopped in on a Tuesday evening to try the wine. We were shocked to learn that on Tuesday's they have a special for 15% off wine stations ... I had no idea what a wine station was before stepping in and seeing none other than a wine vending machine. We both looked at each other with wide eye! We were seated at a high top right next to the stations and our server David gave us a detailed overview of the menu and the wine stations. After sharing that we came for the wine. We were given a card to use and we set out with David to give the stations a try. I tried 3, 1 oz pours as we had a short amount of time before dinner. I had a Sauvignon blanc, Shiraz, and a red blend. Of the three I think the Shiraz was my favorite. My colleague tried the Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and a different red blend and her favorite was the cab! In addition to food and drinks the restaurant offers wine accessories, and wine bottles to go. They had a large bar area and patio seating. I loved the short amount of time spent here and loved that for a few dollars I could try a wine before committing and go at my own pace while mixing and matching what I wanted. This place is AWESOME! If you're a wine lover such as myself, you will love it here! I am familiar with wineries but I've never been to a wine bar and I absolutely love the concept. It's located right on the river, so we sat outside and the view was so pretty and the overall ambiance was relaxing. They have a nice selection of different wines from all over the world! One of the young gentlemen showed us how everything works. There are wine stations throughout and you can choose between different sized pours. Each station has wine glasses ready to be used. There is a screen with information on the wines at that specific station. For example, at the sweet wine station, you can click on the specific type of wine you want to try and you'll learn where it's from (Portugal, Italy, etc), aromas and flavors, the body, and food pairing! We didn't order food while here, but we will for sure be returning. I want to also come here with some girlfriends because it would be the perfect girls night out. We had a lovely girls dinner here on Tuesday night. To our surprise, it was a great night of the week to go since wine and some appetizers were 15% off. Our waitress was very informative, not all of us had been, and explained the entire wine process. We felt like kids in a candy store- what a fun concept! I found my new FAVORITE wine! I can't wait to go back and buy a bottle of it. In addition to endless wine we enjoyed some appetizers and entrees. We shared the Laura Chenel Goat Cheese Bruschetta, Roasted Tomato, Balsamic, Grilled Sourdough Bread and the Crispy Eggplant Medallions, Marinara, Parmesan, Basil . They were both very tasty! I wish the Brushetta bread was a bit crispier, it was a bit on the soggy side. I also felt three eggplant medallions was a bit sparse for a shared appitizer. My friends both ordered a CAB Beef Burger, Yellow Cheddar, Chimichurri Mayonnaise, Brioche Bun and I ordered Truffle Fries, Truffle Aioli, Parmesan, Parsley. Everyone raved about the flavors and freshness of their dishes. I definitely recommend Sixyfour wine bar for a fun night with friends or a date night. Love the concept of tasting many wines and choosing the pour amounts. The food menu is a bit limited but what we tried was really good. Specifically, the pot pie was a really clean ingredient deconstructed version of a pot pie that met the comfort food need but was light; the custom charcuterie board was fire and by far the best one I've ever had. I'm so glad we settled on this location to catch up! We came in on a Monday night, which included 50% off the wine stations, which was an awesome deal. We kind of went bananas with the appetizers as well, which were also 50% off! The bruschetta was AMAZING! So tasty, flavorful, and we got four large pieces for $5.00. We also ordered truffle fries which were so good. When we visited the wine stations, I really enjoyed how they had options for different ounces of drink. We were able to try a bunch at 1 oz. each, and I came across a sweet shiraz that I absolutely love! I would definitely recommend a boozy Monday here if you get the opportunity! My parents and I came here for a birthday dinner. There's a small menu but the main attraction is the wine tasting, of course! You get a card that records what you pour from the different machines and tabulates the cost at the end; there are 64 wines on tap (hence the name) and you can pour a 1 oz taste, 3 oz, or full glass. We started with a cheese and charcuterie plate with proscuitto, truffle salami, gouda, merlot cheddar, gorgonzola and (because of a kitchen error) spreadable goat cheese, along with olives, cornichons, candied pecans, and apricot and sour cherry preserves with crispy flatbreads (so crispy that they exploded into crumbs everywhere). My pick was definitely the gorgonzola but they were all tasty especially when combining flavors. We each ordered a chicken caesar salad (plenty after the meats and cheeses), and divided an orange ginger creme brulee for dessert (the orange ginger cream had a nice flavor, though the caramelized sugar was slightly too burnt tasting). Two things to note: - Watch your bill. Several things appeared on ours that we hadn't ordered; when we inquired, the waitress was like, "My bad, those were for that other table!" Sooo the other table (who had just left) apparently avoided paying for some dishes, but we would have been charged for their orders if we hadn't noticed? - I would figure that a wine bar would be one place that you could assume would be an adult zone, but nope, several tables with kids and toddlers! Dropped in a couple weeks ago with my wife for a much needed date night and we were pleasantly surprised. We had some appetizers at a nearby restaurant and decided to stop over for a few sips, and that turned into a glass or two, or four. We love Sixty Four! We first came here last summer and tried a bunch of different wines. Especially for someone not as experienced with wine, I loved the tasting style. You essentially get a card and then can try different wines at your preferred size. They have a variety of wines- from types to price! We came back recently once Illinois opened back up for patio dining. We sat on their patio along the riverwalk and loved being able to look out at the river and the rest of downtown Naperville. We split a bottle of wine and ordered a cheese and charcuterie board. The wine was amazing, the meats and cheeses were delicious, and the service was stellar. My dad (who is a beer guy) even liked it! The staff is taking safety precautions due to the pandemic seriously. They had disposable menus, dishes, and cutlery and all the servers wore masks. Let me start this off with... I am not a wine person. Besides the fact that wine often gives me a headache, I will go for a beer before I reach for a wine in most circumstances. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at 64 Wine bar. I was invited here by some friends from work to stop after we got off of work one evening. We ordered some appetizers and enjoyed trying many different wines. The appetizers were phenomenal! We ordered a bruschetta that was delectable and then had a charcuterie board of Cheeses and meats that were out of this world. The set up of this restaurant/bar is unique in that there are many many wines that you can help yourself to via self-serve kiosk. You receive a key card when you get there that is connected to a credit card that you give. You use that key card at the kiosks to get anywhere from a small sampling of wine to a full pour. With all this in mind, this is why a "beer drinking person" can thoroughly enjoy this restaurant. I would never order a bottle to share with friends nor do I drink wine enough to even know what type of wine I would prefer at any given moment. Here, I was able to sip, taste and sample wines from all over the world and it was actually fun to do it. If you are a wine lover, you will want to make this place your second home. We had to wait 15 minutes for my husband to get a beer. We had 3 appetizers, and I had a martini. The martini and the bacon wrapped dates were delightful. The other two appetizers were mushroom focaccia and bruschetta. They were awful. No flavor and that's saying a lot for bruschetta. How can you go wrong with that. We will not go back. Went here during the Naperville wine fest. Despite a rush they were attentive and good with food coming out. We got a cheese and meet plater as well as two appetizers.
