We had family in town and didn't feel like driving into Chicago so we saw this cute Holiday Pop Up on Instagram and decided to give it a try. It is suggested you make reservations so we went the Friday after Thanksgiving for lunch. Reserve 22 is located in the beautiful Village Links Golf Course in Glen Ellyn. The interior is beautiful! Our server Nancy was very good and attentive. They have a pretty extensive menu as well as Daily Specials. Prices tho are on the high side and they don't offer many GF items. They also have a kids menu if you ask. We didn't try any of their many Holiday Drink specials do that might have to be another visit. We ordered the Smoked Devil Egg trio but we're later told they were not serving it on the day we went. The kids enjoyed their children's meal as well as the Giant Pretzel even tho it was overpriced at 15.00 in my opinion. My wife had the Chicken Bowl (GF) ($20) and she thoroughly enjoyed it. I had their Chicago Italian Beef Flatbread ($19) which was tasty but dry. Needed either a dipping sauce or more sauce on the flatbread. For dessert the kids enjoyed their peppermint gelato sundae which was big enough to share. On the Village Links Of Glen Ellyn golf course, this restaurant was turned into a Christmas Pop Up. It was a great setting for lunch with our out of town family. Our server was really friendly and efficient. She anticipated everyone's needs. The food was average and a bit overpriced but not outrageous. The kids had a great time in the Elf Photo Booth. We peeked into the event space and it had beautiful views for a small wedding or other event. Many families came dressed in their Christmas best to take photos by the tree. I would love to return in warmer weather to enjoy drinks & appetizers on the patio and enjoy the golf course views & bird watching. read more

We saw this restaurant was on the Glen Ellyn restaurant week menu, so that is what is originally what drew us here. However, our group decided to order from their regular menu. (For me, I just did not care for their soup choices, French onion or clam chowder). I had a burger and it was excellent. The only thing to note is cheese and toppings are an add on charge. I got it with the kettle chips and it came with a lot of chips. The dessert menu is huge! I felt the presentation of my cheesecake was gorgeous. Service was fast and attentive. Chef also came out to check on us. They had it decorated like you were sitting in a snow globe. It was cute. read more

We live very close to the village links so reserve 22 is a convenient dining option for us. We LOVE the view of the golf course from the patio. It simply cannot be beat! The food on the other hand can ehhh, easily be beat... recently we visited and we each got a pasta. My husband got the steak and Gorgonzola rigatoni which was alright, I got the shrimp scampi pasta and the sauce was super watery. I only ate a small amount of it which is a shame for the price! Tonight we decided to give it another whirl because it's a beautiful evening and we wanted to enjoy the view. This time we got the sheet pan nachos with chicken. Although the nachos were piled high on a small sheet pan, the toppings were only on the very top, leaving a mess of plain tortilla chips underneath. Our waitress noticed and was kind enough to bring us so salsa and some cold nacho cheese : /. I think next time we will just stick with drinks. If Reserve 22 would step up their game in the food department we would eat here much more frequently! (We even heard the party at the table behind us discussing the same thing!) Enjoyed a delicious and festive dinner here prior to seeing a Christmas play at the McAninch theatre at the nearby College of DuPage last night! It's worth noting that Reserve 22 prizes its relationship to the Mac theater, and offers a 10% discount on food to diners going to see a play that evening! I was delighted to see the dining room and bar festooned with sparkling snowflakes and beautiful ornaments, with a gorgeous Christmas tree at the center! Plus a warming fire nearby. We first enjoyed a new cocktail called the Raspberry Kiss--vodka, St. Germain, raspberry purée and lemon juice over ice. (Also reminiscent of the Berry Kiss storyline from "The Holiday" if you're a Christmas nerd...) We had a big soft pretzel with melted cheese and honey Dijon mustard to start--satisfying and so good. My dinner was whitefish with capers and fresh spinach. The whitefish was served skin-on and it was flaky and savory with a buttery caper sauce. My daughter enjoyed the filet, done medium with a side of garlic mashed potatoes--delicious! We didn't have room for actual dessert but an espresso martini was our final course. It was made with espresso liqueur, Tito's and Kahlua. It tasted good, not too sweet--but it lacked the foamy top and 3 espresso beans that typically grace one of these cocktails--and represent health, wealth and happiness, so I missed that little garnish! The decorations and our waitress were very nice! However, the food always leaves so much to be desired. It's never bad but it's just okay. I got the special of the Cuban Panini hoping that the lovely description would be true and it was only fine. Hubs got the Crispy chicken sandwich and it was warm. That's basically all we had to say - food was warm, salty, and very beige in flavor and color. It wasn't bad by any means, but at 15-18$ per entree I really want at least "good". Talked a friend into trying the Reserve 22. She really enjoyed the Christmas decorations. Bonus: we were there for happy hour and Santa! Such a joy to see the little ones on best behavior with their parents! The Santa was beautifully dressed and had real white whiskers even. Above average pub food and specials are often off the charts good. The only problem is they don't tell the staff about the daily specials or offer them a pre-shift sample of what's on the menu! A dozen or more servers and bussers who would answer questions...but cannot. The staff is outstanding. Dedicated and professional and hard working beyond compare. Beautiful room but the ambiance is sometimes spoiled by the frat bros who all speak in their outdoor voices. New TVs are a welcome upgrade. No need for Chive TV on 1/3 of the screens. Food is just okay. Fries always taste like they reuse their oil for days. Salads are really good. Service is always good. Ambiance inside is nice if they would just remember to dim the lights down! Honestly I was let down by this place. We came for the Christmas decor and the ambiance was beautiful. However. Our waiter was nonexistent. We barely saw him and even when he did come by he never stopped moving. Just said "all good here?" And kept going. We only got waters refilled one time during our meal and both my husband and I needed more but we couldn't ever find our waiter to flag him down. Our drinks took forever to come, but that we figured was because it was a Friday and the bar was busy. That was understandable. But our waiter again took ages to bring our soup, and then our entrees came a few minutes later so we had to pick which part of our meal we wanted to eat cold. The French onion soup was delicious; that was the highlight of the night. The drinks were okay, I got a hot toddy and it was pretty gross. I could only drink a few sips before I felt sick. I would have sent it back, but again, we never saw our waiter. The biggest issue however, was my meal. I ordered one of the specials of the night, the crab cakes for my dinner. It arrived and it was tiny. After I was halfway done eating it our waiter *finally* stopped by. I asked if the crab cakes were an entree or appetizer because of its small size. He said yeah that's an appetizer. He wasn't apologetic at all. I said if I knew that I wouldn't have ordered it for my meal and all he said was "oh I should have brought that up." He didn't try to make it right at all. Just walked away. Then while my husband was still eating he dropped the dessert menu, clearly trying to rush us along. Right after our dessert came, he dropped the check off and that was that. He didn't ask if we needed anything else. Then it took another 15 minutes for us to see him on the floor again so we could pay our bill and go. It was only after he dropped off the bill was he so warm and kind. It's a great place to golf, but honestly I have zero desire to ever return to eat here. Incredibly disappointed because our meal was insanely expensive. I brought my family to Reserve 22 for dinner a few weeks ago and my parents are still talking about it! Aside from the gorgeous decorations, the new menu items were delicious. Yesterday I stopped at Reserve 22 in Glen Ellyn. I have been here before, and as always, the food was OUTSTANDING! I chose the chefs special for Thursday - FRIED CHICKEN. There aren't too many places that make GOOD Fried Chicken these days, BUT I WAS PROVEN WRONG! Chef Tom's Fried Chicken sounded like how my mom used to make it. When the plate arrived, I was greeted with some of the best chicken I have seen in, will... since my mother made it. There; in front of me, on top of a huge portion of REAL mashed potatoes were four pieces of golden-brown chicken (thigh, breast, wing, and leg) with gravy on the side and large portion of coleslaw. The first bite of Chef Tom's chicken brought back a flood of childhood memories. If I didn't know I was in a restaurant, I would have sworn I was sitting at my mom's kitchen table on a Sunday afternoon. THIS WAS MY MOTHERS' CHICKEN! Beautifully golden brown, that first crunch as you bit into the piping hot moist chicken. No lie, I had to just savor the moment. My search for the 2nd best chicken in the world (sorry, no one can beat moms') was over. The potatoes, slaw and gravy were the Crème de la Crème of this meal! This whole meal reminded me of my childhood, Sundays after church and moms' cooking. This is the BEST HOME COOKED MEAL YOU WILL FIND ANYWHERE! I did have to take a doggie bag home. But trust me, I enjoyed the rest of the chicken that night. I have had the opportunity to enjoy Chef Tom's meals a few times. I have NEVER been disappointed - EVER! Of course, the service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is inviting and relaxing at Reserve 22. If you haven't had the chance or opportunity to dine at Reserve 22 MAKE IT A MUST! Pros and Cons: Pros would be the nice outdoor patio overlooking the golf course, fire pits, good draft beer selection. Good cocktails. A nice venue for a reception, great driving range. I have had good burgers and sandwiches, salads over the last couple of summers. I want this place to be good. Now the unfortunate Cons: in April of '25, tried the Friday A.Y.C.E fish and chips, and the $5 margaritas. The marg had no flavors that reminded me of either lime or tequila. Awful. Like a salty gatorade? The fried fish separated from the batter coating; the outside of the coating was cooked a dark brown but the inside of the batter was raw and almost uncooked. 'All I could eat', was not much. I paid an upcharge for onion rings, and regret it. I bit into a big ring, and got a mouthful of dry powder, like sand. The outside of the ring seemed cooked, but was this a bubble of unmixed coating batter? I pointed it out and the server said she would tell the cook, and still charged me for a plate of these terrible onion rings. I hope Reserve had only this one bad night, and this isnt representative of what to expect. If they clean up these kitchen basics, quality control the drinks, and keep prices competitive, I will be a regular over the summer. The friend and I who came here in the last review returned for lunch today. In the time of Covid, it's nice that they have a big outdoor seating area (with torchiers for cooler weather). We placed our orders and waited...and waited. Finally the server came out and admitted that they "forgot us" somehow so it would be a bit longer (we hadn't really seen her in between time to be able to inquire). Gladly it wasn't too much longer. My friend enjoyed her fried chicken sandwich, which she got last time too; I was less pleased with my burger, which was very greasy (& when we asked for extra napkins our waitress said "absolutely," then vanished. I didn't want to put the burger down because I feared it would collapse, but it was also becoming a mess). Dessert was the best part: the triple chocolate mousse cake is to die for. Stay away - place seems to be run by little kids. Big tumbs down. Drove here for dinner for absolutely no reason. Google/Open table said there was no wait and to "come on in." Even now it shows availability in 15 minutes. Stopped by with wife and 2 kids. There were at least 5 tables open outside and inside was absolutely empty without anyone waiting for any tables. Asked for a table for 4 to sit outside and the girl working in the front said that they only have space inside "for such a big group." Apparently 4 people is a big group. Never realized that. According to them, a table outside was a 1 hour wait despite there being so many open tables and nobody in the waiting area. There were 4 of us - 2 adults and 2 kids. All tables they had were for 4 people so it's not like even if there were 2 of us as opposed to "so many of us" we would be able to get seated. Too bad - wanted to try this place for a while and would have probably been a returning customer. Not a fan. Walked in with my wife and daughter (who are black). They walked up to the hostess stand ahead of me. 3 ladies at the stand completely ignored us. No, "hi can I help you"... not a word. Just a blank annoyed look at us, then back to chatting amongst themselves. My wife asked after a few seconds, "do we just seat ourselves"? The restaurant was almost empty, it was 4pm. They replied, "let me see if we can get you a table, we have a lot of reservations at 6:30"... 2.5 hours from 4pm at the time; we won't be eating for that long... Anyways, we get a table. Waitress was really nice. Wish we didn't take her suggestions though. I wanted chicken quesadillas. She suggested the Buffalo chicken over the normal chicken. Sadly, there were tons of hard, barely chewable pieces of breading with no chicken in them. Yes, there were pieces with chicken as well, a few. Some of the pieces of breading were so hard I had to spit them out. My daughter said she was pretty hungry and asked what would be more filling, the burger or the nachos. Waitress suggested the burger if she's hungry. She got the burger, which was burnt to a crisp and cruncy to eat. On top of that, her fries had a curly black hair in them. We had them switched out for the nachos. The nachos were huge! We saw other tables sharing them with a few people. So, odd suggestion. Then we get the check. When receiving the waitress ler us know their card systems are down and they can only take cash, or, "we can write down our card info". We had cash. But, why wait till the check comes to tell us this? What about all your big reservations tonight? Going to let them know at the time of delivering the check? And, no ATM on site?!? I actually don't know if there is an ATM on site. We had cash, but, it wasn't suggested. Manager did stop by and offer a free dessert, which we didn't take them up on. I think if you go, it's more of a decent lunch place. Also maybe go for beers and hang out on the patio. The inside bar looked really nice. Maybe next time will try inside if the weather is not good. First time at Reserve 22 & I really wanted to have a great experience. The drive through the golf course was really nice even though it was cold & windy. Parking was close & the building is very attractive outside. Decor inside was very nicely decorated for the Christmas holiday. I was truly impressed, especially because the bathroom was spotless & roomy as well. (Always a good sign!) Our waiter was the nicest guy ever - extremely friendly & helpful & always smiling! Wow....I was so glad my dinner partner chose this place. After looking over the menu I was anxious to try one of the appetizers & an entree that sounded excellent! Unfortunately both dishes were extremely disappointing. The calamari appetizer had the smallest portion of the tiniest rings of calamari that I had ever seen in my entire life. It was very disappointing & not worth the $17 price. But it WAS very good tasting, so I didn't want to complain. I was sure the plate of short ribs with risotto & asparagus would more than make up for everything :) Imagine my shock when my entree was placed before me. What I saw was a bowl full of risotto!! I saw NO short ribs & NO asparagus and thought, "THIS is what I get for $27?" Even our wonderful waiter seemed a bit embarrassed - although it was by no means his fault. He understood my dismay & was very gracious, saying that if after trying it I wasn't satisfied, he would see what he could do to make things right. I appreciated that, but didn't want to make a fuss. I just wanted to have a nice evening. It turns out there WAS short rib meat within the bowl of risotto, but only a small portion of shredded meat!! It was like no other short rib entree I had ever seen before!! Needless to say I was extremely disappointed & even on the verge of being a bit angry that I was paying $27 for what really was just a bowl of rice! When I remembered that I was supposed to get some asparagus with my dish, I was told that the kitchen said the asparagus was diced up & mixed in with the rice! Huh?? "Are you kidding me", I thought. But I just smiled & said, "Ok" - again not to make a fuss. At that point I was embarrassed for the kitchen (and the entire establishment) I understand that prices have gone up & portion sizes have come down, but that was ridiculous. Nevertheless I decided to just let it all go because I still just wanted to have a pleasant evening. Much later someone (maybe the manager?) came to the table with a teeny tiny bowl of what seemed to be a sliced up skinny stalk of asparagus. After an apology I was told that it was omitted from my entree in error. Ok so not even a normal portion of asparagus was supposed to have come with my bowl of risotto (with strands of short rib meat) for $27? Unbelievable. At that point I just couldn't believe that what seemed to be such a nice restaurant situated within an enormous amount of land in DuPage County that must be worth MILLIONS & MILLIONS of dollars, to say the least, could be SO chintzy with the food they serve! Again, unbelievable. But if anyone out there has so much money that they just want to practically give it away for the experience of being served a small amount of ok tasting food in a pleasant environment, then Reserve 22 is the place for you :) read more

Man, I wish this was t the case, but it is!! Love the course and the faculty and facilities. The reserve has gone down hill fast as of late, arrived and girls up front three of them had no clue what time it was.. after our discussion about the wait we agreed to wait 30 min, After we get seated the waiter says several times I'll be right with you, 10 minutes later he offers to take drink orders only. Drinks come after normal time but then we don't see waiter for 25 minutes. We see him but he doesnt see us. They need to hire better staff, they have kids running show. We had to leave our post and go to maggianos!! Sad cause I liked reserve 22 but the workers and staff are very overwhelmed and blame management. There was a professional event here. They presented a fantastic service yet somehow the food consistency was variable. The poor guy next to me basically had a very rare filet mignon and mine was medium! The salmon was slightly undercooked. The chocolate cake was beneath them. This place is disappointing. The inside of the restaurant is full of loud middle aged white men drinking beer, so we sat outside since it was nice weather. The patio was pretty and had a nice view, ton of bugs which is to be expected being outside near a ton of trees & golf course. Food was eh. The Bavarian pretzel was okay, the beer cheese that came with it tasted of literally nothing. My boyfriend had the 3 beef sliders, one of which was very raw while the others were cooked okay. Not saying this to be extra, since we like steak medium rare. I had the chefs pork chops, which were not good. I think it was the creole mayo that held the Panko crust onto the pork chop that was just off-putting. Beginning with the intial greeting and continuing throughout the entire meal the staff was friendly, courteous, and attentive. While I cannot say they were perfect, as they struggled to describe what we would be able to expect from the sauce that came with the Cheese Curds (on special), they made no major snafus. Good service overall. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious! After starting with a few Bloody Mary's (standard, tasty) we had an assortment of items ranging from the Pot Pie (wonderful!) to the Ghost Pepper Chicken Sandwich (had some kick but was by no means over-powering, SO GOOD!) to the (kids) Chicken Lollipops (some of the best we've ever tasted). Everything was definitely something I'd "write home about". We were all really impressed. The ambiance was sophisticated yet very laid back, about what you'd expect given it's tie to the golf course. We arrived right when they opened (for lunch) so there was by no means a crowd. But I can imagine this place getting busy at peak times. We had a very enjoyable lunch and already cannot wait to return for another meal. In fact, they have some weekly specials (like 50 cent wings!) that we cannot wait to try! Came for the half off burgers but stayed for my servers own signature drink - no name for it! Had 3 for $5 each and I regret nothing! Bobby took very good care of me and I appreciate his hospitality! The place was empty due to the weather but that made things even better! read more
