    Burnt pizza
    Bryan T.

Not ready for prime-time. Nice atmosphere, good space, our waitress was friendly. But the Detroit style pizza was burnt and crust was inedible. Someone from the cook staff should've never let it come out to the table. We ordered a cheese and a bbq Detroit style. The bbq was burnt worse than the cheese. Also, really weird they made us stand by the front door for about 7 minutes because the wait staff was busy... there were 5 open tables. After the 7 minutes, they sat us at one of the open tables. Hopefully they get the kinks worked out and the food improves in the next few months.

This place is so mid, I know they're relatively new but I don't really think that has anything to do with it. For one pizza and two drinks being $46 I would expect that all aspects are going to taste phenomenal. The pizza was just not good in comparison to other places around here and the cocktails were overly sweet and over priced. The ambiance is essentially having to yell at the person sitting across from you to hear because the children everywhere screaming and the amount of people in the space was just insane. I appreciate that the backyard part is 16+ but at that point I feel like it should be 18+, if you're going to offer something like that, it seems like it should be adults only. Also, we ordered an appetizer that never came which was disappointing. I was really excited for this place to open but between charging overpriced covers for events and the food being subpar and expensive for what it is, I wouldn't return.

The latest offering from Eric Schlickman, owner of 302 Wheaton, is a great addition to downtown Wheaton. Situated on Front Street north of the train tracks, the restaurant is modern, spacious and comfortable with a nice bar area and plenty of TV screens for watching a game. Nice selection of both thick and thin crust pizzas with plenty of different toppings. The regular and gluten free Detroit style crusts were both done to perfection, and the hot honey pepperoni pizza and arugula/prosciutto/goat cheese pizza were both very tasty. Behind the restaurant is "The Backyard", a wonderful bar/music space with arched ceilings and a sky light that is the perfect place to have a drink and enjoy live music after dinner.

1/2 pizza, 1/2 salad lunch special for $12 (good dough, plenty of pineapples-delicious!)

Quick bite--delicious crust and pizza dough! Had to shoo away flies on a brisk 60 degree day. Otherwise, friendly staff!

Gluten free sausage and pepperoni pizza.

Ordered gluten free sausage and pepperoni pizza. Not very good. Pizza seemed undercooked. Visible strings of cheese unmelted. Crust was little underdone. Overall taste wasn't much better than a frozen pizza. If looking for true Detroit style pizza I'd recommend going to any of the Paulie G's locations in the Chicago area. Worth the drive. You won't be disappointed. While Wheaton is closer to us we'd rather drive for something better.

Sadly, The pizza is a disappointing "Detroit style" pizza. Lacked flavor and skimpy with toppings.

Pizza is improved and new additions to menu are good. Great place to watch games and having the Backyard space with live music is great.

The bar staff is always friendly, quick and attentive, and it's always very clean. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out what goes on with the food selection in this place I've been coming here for probably about 10 years and they have had probably as many themes. Between a palace of bacon and then not and then partially bacon and then bacon and vegan, and then just vegan and regular pub fare. It's close to the house so I will occasionally stop in for a beer and something after work. Usually, I will get a chicken Caesar wrap because that's pretty much impossible to screw up, but once in a while, I will have a taste for a burger and after all, this is a bar...and I've had bad bar burgers at bars all across the country, they usually are at least serviceable. Not here. Each time I order one I remember why I go back to the chicken Caesar wrap. Newest exhibit being their new Smash-burger. I selected the pretzel bun so I knew it was not going to be a typical smash burger but when the patties come out like gray school cafeteria burgers without a trace of smash or crisp to them, I'm not sure whoever created this menu has ever met the kitchen staff. Generally a Smash-burger should be a homogenous congealed mass held together by good will and melted cheese. I cut this thing in half and it fell over like a Jenga tower. The buns are consistently pretty stale. I can't imagine if burgers are this much of a gamble...how are entrees like pot roast? Who is even ordering enough of these things for it to be fresh when it seems like everyone's getting sliders and nachos.

This visit was extra meaningful because they quite literally saved my birthday evening. We had reservations at the new Bien Trucha in Wheaton, only to arrive and find it closed... with no notice. Not exactly festive. Enter Proof No. 5, swooping in like the culinary hero of the night. We enjoyed an exquisite tuna crudo, rich and beautifully balanced, and meatballs over polenta that felt like comfort dressed up for a celebration. The medallions with mushrooms and three sauces were excellent, layered, and deeply satisfying. And the cocktails? Some of the best crafted in the suburbs. Thoughtful, balanced, and dangerously easy to order a second. Warm atmosphere, consistently great food, and a team that delivers every time. We'll keep coming back. And back. And back.

We went for a date night and it was honestly such an incredible experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is one of my favorite parts. It is lively and has a great energy, but it is not overwhelming or too crazy, which makes it perfect for a date night. You can actually talk, relax, and enjoy your time together, which is exactly what we were looking for. We ordered a mix of things and everything was so good. The BBQ platter with ribs, pulled chicken, mac and cheese, fries, and toast was packed with flavor and perfect for sharing. The chicken dish with mashed potatoes and greens was also amazing and really well done. We also got dessert and it was the perfect sweet ending to the night. The service was great the entire time. Our server was especially attentive and funny, which made the experience even better and added such a fun, personal touch to the night. Overall this is such a great spot and definitely one we will keep coming back to. If you are looking for a place that has a fun atmosphere but still feels comfortable for a date night, I would absolutely recommend checking this place out.

I tried the Nashville chicken wrap which comes with a side. I went with the side salad with citrus vinaigrette. The salad was light and refreshing. Great way to get some veggies in!
