OMG! I traveled to the Chicago Burbs for a weekend trip from Texas this past weekend and decided to try Legends Pizza... WOW!!!! I love pizza and travel the country looking for the best. I am originally from CA and have a spot I grew up in that I have loved since a young boy that is family owned for over 60 years. However, Legends takes the PIE for the absolute BEST pizza I have ever had! And the JOHN'S BEEF & GRAVY PIZZA is like Nothing I have ever eaten! If you don't try this place you are missing out! It was so darn good, we had them make 2 more to bring back home and I've been eating it every day since I got home! I had to dive in Sunday night as soon as we landed! This place is a real gem and love the family owned service and atmosphere! Chicago has some of my favorite spots to eat and now Legends will be a regular stop every time I fly in from Texas! Now let's bring Legends to Dallas and show these folks how Chicago gets it right!!! read more

I cannot recommend this place. Although the staff were great and great service, I have terrible gas after eating their pizza yesterday. I also vomited this morning. I've never gotten sick from pizza and wine. I wanted to love this place because staff is so friendly but not meant to be. I ordered a cheese and sausage pizza here. Parts of it were very good. But I kept encountering a strange taste. I thought it was just some wierd seasoning they use. I didn't like it whatever it was. I never tasted anything like it. The pizza dough is fabulous, nice and thin snd crispy. The sauce is lacking the true Italian flavor I crave. Finally, the garlic is a definite NO! I hate garlic on my pizza. Drinks including wine are very reasonably priced. Ambiance is cozy comfortable neighborhood place. I don't care for legacy old school rock which they play here. I've heard those songs 10,000 times and enjoy newer refeshing upbeat music. I won't be back but wish them well. read more

What can I say other than Legends has become my family's favorite pizza place in the area! The classic thin style is our go-to. Each month, Michelle (the owner) has a pizza of the month ranging from cheeseburger (THE BEST!), taco, tamale, chicken pot pie, the list goes on! Each one is more delicious than the last, which I'm not sure how that's possible. She also curates a monthly drink menu that's typically themed. October focuses on Halloween, July was patriotic...you get the idea. The chicken Caesar wrap is also delectable, as is the breaded steak sandwich. For those of who you have had Ricobene's, this is a close dupe. IYKYK! You walk in expecting to have a bite to eat or pick up a to-go order, but you leave feeling like family. I can't recommend Legends enough. And everything they do for the Carol Stream community is nothing short of incredible. Kudos to Chris and Michelle for an outstanding pizzeria! read more

There's some things I liked about this place, the pizza arrived hot, the crust was pretty good. A decent amount of veggies. Cheese was ok. But there were several issues that keep me from recommending this place. We ordered and paid extra for chicken on our pizzas and there didn't appear to be any on there aside from a few mysterious tiny yellowish white cubes in a few places near the outer edge of the crust. Maybe that was the chicken? I really hope not, because as I was eating a slice, I noticed up close that the little cubes actually looks raw (pic added). Another reviewer said they got very ill after eating the pizza, hopefully that won't be our fate as well. Pizza did arrive about 20 mins earlier than their website estimate, which normally be great. Except the delivery person didn't ring the bell and the online tracking showed our order was still in the preparation stage. So the pizzas sat outside for at least 10 mins before we realized they had been delivered. Miraculously, they were still hot, so no real loss there. I just wanted to mention it in case others are relying on this inaccurate tracking. Aside from the possibly raw meat, another deal breaker for me though was the utterly flavorless pizza sauce. A couple others mentioned it in their reviews, so I guess I was warned. The taste and appearance led me to suspect it was just watered down, unseasoned, low-sodium canned tomato sauce. There was no sign of oregano or any other spices in it, and it certainly didn't taste like anything at all. It's a shame, I think it might've been an ok pizza otherwise (without the raw mystery meat), because the crust and cheese weren't bad. Unfortunately, even if the chicken had been ok, lack of any flavor in the sauce pretty much ruined it for us anyway, so we won't be ordering here again. But if you're not a big sauce person, and a vegetarian, maybe you won't mind. read more

Everything went well. Owners treat old customers like me and new customers like travelers staying at the local hotels like family. When I do go it's usually on Tuesday for the half price dine in pizza deal. Sometimes with family Sometimes solo. Try going earlier because it can become crowded on Tuesdays unless a local sports team is playing on one of the multitude of televisions. Don't worry Michelle whips up some mean ass specialty cocktails during the different holiday seasons. Great for date nights or families alike. read more

Really enjoyed our recent visit to Legends. We were greeted not once, but twice. It is "cozy" inside and I imagine later in the day may be loud, but for Saturday afternoon it was just right. We started with the fried pickles which are fresh, and they came with a homemade ranch. The pizza was solid - sausage and pepperoni, didn't even need to order it well done for that perfect, crunchy, buttery crust. Of note, i typically am more of a cracker thin crust kind of girl, but with the texture of this crust - I was pleased! And for dessert, a very delicious peppermint tiramisu. The holiday drink menu was fabulous and if you haven't seen or heard about their loaded Bloody Mary's, you better ask somebody! Michelle and her husband Chris owned the restaurant, and she makes a lot of of the dishes from family recipes. She will be adding some specials for lent so we plan to go back. It is definitely a great place to go for everyone, whether it's friends or family. I highly recommend the Johns Beef & Gravy pizza with hot peppers (or sweet peppers if that's your thing!). My only regret is that I didn't order a bigger size pizza so I could have more leftovers! The first thing I said after I took a bite of thin crust sausage was, "yup, it's the real deal." Legends doesn't do deep dish. Or pan. It's all thin-crust here, and with the few ingredients we get (sigh), there's nowhere to hide. (My daughter ordered meatballs, which tasted pretty good, but I'd have to stuff a few more in my mouth to know for sure. Also they're pretty big!) The first attempt at ordering was derailed by a Daily Herald feature the day before (it happens), so I made sure to call early and try again. As I said there's nowhere to hide, so let's go through what's there: Sausage: Incredibly tender, flavorful (with spices beyond the pork), true-blue Italian sausage. Quite a bit too... not as much as Lou's disc of sausage, but enough to get sausage in every bite. Cheese: Mozzarella? Sure, but at least two other cheeses provide depth. Fontina, possibly? Parmesan for sure. It wouldn't surprise me if Scamorza is doing some lifting as well. Great blend with some surprising notes. Tomato sauce: Pretty sure it's homemade. Thin with a few pieces of tomato, acidic. Crust: Ah, this was nice. Not paper thin, but in the heat of the oven, the edges lift, brown, and become as crisp as saltines. I kind of wish the whole thing was like that, although that might be physically impossible. This is the best thin-crust pizza I've had around here, at a great price. Best of all, it spares me a trip to the city to try some tavern-style pizza! read more

My four year old requested to try this pizza place. To humor him we did go. We are very glad we did! Owner Michelle treated us right away and we were seated immediately. Adam said he wanted a pepperoni pizza and Michelle who helped us said they do have kids personal pizzas so Adam got his personal pepperoni pizza. Hubby ordered the Cheesy Garlic Gerinarda. Usually not my thing but it is amazing! I had an order of the Mozzarella sticks; also great! Hubby got the Tiramisu and I couldn't leave without trying the S'mores Pizza! Also amazing.
