Gluten Free Spaghetti with marinara sauce
    Kelly K.

I loved Evviva's marinara sauce sooooo much I ordered nearly weekly however recently Evviva changed their sauce has no taste at all:-(:-(. I don't know why restaurants drug companies on & on have to change their products? ... we will try other Salerno Pizza locations like Western Springs & Hodgkins near where my husband works see if these locations have decent marinara before going elsewhere.

This is what they call a meatball sandwich, not one drop of Mariana on It , total bs .

I order a meatball sandwich on garlic bread with sweet peppers to go and they didn't put any red sauce on iit.How the hell do you forget that.

It was my first time here on Friday and let me tell you it was definitely not my last! The traditional pizza was out of this world! The food is Salerno's which is very tasty! Our service was great as well. I loved that they had a band as well. It is hard to find places these days with live bands. Only thing I would recommend is having a hosts stand in the front so people are crowding around the front confused on where to sit and avoid waiting in a line.

This place clearly caters to its locals and regulars. If you're here to pick up food itll be burnt but edible. At least theyre open late. Also pickup is in the back of where google tells you to go. The resturant isnt in the front for pickup you gotta go alllllll the way around. At least according to the wrinkly bag of bones bartender gestured me to do because the resturant is a separate entity. Either that or the front isnt the entrance for black people. Either way. Yeah come here and enjoy crispy food in all its forms. Burnt , over fried, and extra dried. At least the pickle and the to go boxes were fresh.

I can't believe I'm saying this but The fried calamari was some of the best I've had. Amanda was our server and was very very attentive and fast with our food and drink (on a super busy night none the less) excellent service. The music was great too! They had this DJ named Ronnie who kicked ass with the music selection (hope he's the in house DJ) I will be back! And with friends!!

My husband and I came here recently after leaving the Morton Arboretum, and we had a pretty good experience, but it was nothing special, in my opinion. When we walked in, I liked the ambiance. It was bright from having many windows, and I liked the mix of brick, stone, and wood details on the walls. I'm also a sucker for places that have garage-like windows that open all the way up. When we sat down, our waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed because she was one of two waitresses helping customers inside and outside. The restaurant wasn't overly crowded, but she didn't seem like she wanted to be there; she wasn't very personable. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my Blue Moon I ordered, which was a bit annoying, but I was very thankful I ordered water too because my husband and I got those right away. Foodwise, I ordered an Italian Sausage and Beef Combo Sandwich ($13) and my husband ordered a Cobb Salad ($15). My sandwich was okay, and it hit the spot because it took a while for it to come out, but the bread tasted a bit hard, so I ended up eating the meat inside by itself. The Italian sausage was cooked perfectly and was full of flavors and spices, but the beef was subpar and bland. I wish I had asked for au jus on the side because I think everything just needed to be drowned in gravy to make it a bit more flavorful. My husband's salad was okay, but I tried a piece of his chicken, and it had no seasonings on it. It was so plain and kinda gross, in my opinion. He also ordered his salad with caesar dressing instead of their homemade vinaigrette, but it didn't taste or look like caesar. He asked to make sure it was correct and our waitress confirmed that it was corrected. He didn't mind, but we both agreed it wasn't the best salad he ever ordered. Overall, I would give this place another try and order either pizza or a calzone because it seems that everyone raves about those more than anything else here.

Livin evviva loco! ! If you want your boots or shoes to start stomping and mouth to start drooling this is the place to go. As a Salerno chain, Evviva is a lively and classic bar , they always have live music and events going on (live bingo on Tuesday's at 6:00), just look up the website for for info, but that's besides the point, your mouth will water once you smell the original pizza! The chicken tenders will think they had the chickens clucking in the back tasting so fresh and crisp! I have come here many of times, this is definitely the place to hang with friends or family. My daughter loves this place! Just be prepared this place can get exciting with loud music and drinks pouring! Also I have the greatest waiter always so respectful and knowledgeable. On the last side note, the majority of the things you will order here is made from scratch, so that makes it original and authentic to me, and is not just a bar food place it's an original flavor. Chef's kiss !

Prices are on the higher side for Italian, with most entrées averaging around $20-$30. The arancini (Fried risotto balls) are A+, worth the trip. The starter salad was disappointing--basically a bag of lettuce with a single slice of tomato and cucumber, topped with a flavorless dressing. However, the homemade pasta was very good, and there's a generous selection of sauces to choose from, which made the main course worth it. Service was fine--nothing exceptional, but nothing to complain about either. Overall, a pleasant spot if you're craving good pasta and don't mind paying a bit more for the atmosphere.

The price point was on the high side for us but not out-of-reach. We arrived and was immediately sat in the bar; in fact, everyone is sat in the bar. The dining room has about twenty tables, and they were two tables being used; the bar also had about twenty tables and every table was sat. I asked the waiter and they do sit the bar area first and overflow into the dining room. With the bar area at near capacity and all hard surfaces it was very loud. The dining room had carpet floor and a coffered beamed ceiling it was tremendously quiet. If you want the energy of a crowded restaurant the bar is great, the dinning rom is a more upscale experience.  We started with Calamari Friiti, that is the title of the dish. In smaller print the description is Crispy Fried Calamari, Zucchini,  and herbs. What was served was 70% NOT Calamari but thin fried zucchini strips, fried rosemary (literally the twig of rosemary in batter and fried), and fried thyme (the thyme was removed from the twig so I could not even find it., but the waiter said it was there. At $19  expected more Calamari at least 60%, after all the dish was not called "fried herbs and Calamari". Our table had Spaghetti and Meatballs at $24, the Stuffed Pork Chop special (with Broccoli Rabe) at $27, and I had the Eggplant Parmigiana at $20. I get eggplant Parmesan a lot, it is my favorite Italian dish. $20 is high for eggplant Parmesan, I prefer my eggplant thinly sliced and fried. This is more three eggplant steaks with cheese and red gravy. Not my personal favorite but good. The pasta was so unusual I had to ask about it; the waiter said it is made from scratch in house but the shape in an Italian grocery store would be casarecce. I thought $24 for Spaghetti and Meatballs high but my husband said the Meatballs were excellent. Finally, $27 for one Stuffed Pork Chop also seemed high but it tasted great, the garlic white wine sauce made a tasty glaze. We ordered Tiramisu for the table and one person got the blueberry sorbet. I found the Tiramisu traditional and another person thought the mascarpone cheese was whipped too much. I read a several reviews, most of the reviewers praised the service as outstanding; we found our server disappearing for 30 - 40 minutes; we had to call someone over to order desert and another to get the check.

When we arrived, we were asked if we had reservations. I hadn't made one since every time slot online showed as open. After some discussion among the hosts, I worried they might be fully booked. To my surprise, half the main dining room was empty. Yet we were led all the way to the very back -- a small enclosed room already hosting two large parties of ten -- and seated at a tiny table in the corner. My son and I were both facing walls, and the table barely fit two people. It felt unwelcoming and poorly considered, especially with so many open tables available in the main area. I kindly asked to be moved, and the host did accommodate us, but the initial seating left a bad first impression. For a restaurant with such great food, I expected a warmer, more thoughtful approach to seating guests. We ordered two medium pizzas (one to go), which were phenomenal as always. I got the chicken special, which was honestly a bit bland, but the carrot cake was really good. Overall, I'd give 3.5 stars if I could. I just don't think it was appropriate to seat three people at a tiny table in a small back room next to two large parties -- especially when the main dining room had plenty of open space.

The food was fresh and delicious. I recalled a Davanti location in Chicago but never had the chance to check it out, so this was my first time and it was great! The atmosphere is chic and the food was excellent, but not in a flashy, overdone, complicated way, just real good, made in house, hearty Italian fare. The Focaccia Di Recco was AMAZING. Yes, all caps. We packed up half of it to take home and it was still great the next day (reheated and then toasted in our mini counter oven/fryer). If you order just one thing here, let it be this focaccia dish. I understand why it's popular and I blurted out loud several times while eating this in restaurant: "on my god" it was truly divine. This is my second time at the restaurant and we brought friends this time b/c we enjoyed our time the first time. Second time - not so much. I made the reservation several weeks in advance and put a request for the upstairs rooftop - b/c it's beautiful. I understood going in that it's first come first serve for it. However, I thought they would heed requests before seating others upstairs - if there were reservations. That is not the case. So - very pointless to put this in your request during your reservation. Needless to say - we got there and it would have been a 45 min wait at 6 pm for the rooftop. We opted not to wait. They then sat us in a "corner" by the freight elevator. Not ideal - but I thought - it would be okay b/c at least it's not as loud as the "main" area. What I didn't know - was that the "section" we were placed in was like no man's land. Took 10 plus minutes to get a waiter - but the kicker was there was no air conditioning in this section. Zero. None. It was hotter than heck! Those factors alone were not good. Water was brought - but no ice. Had to ask for that - and let me tell you - cold water in that heat was needed. The rest of the restaurant had A/C - just not the 4+ tables by the freight elevator. Moving on to the food. The food was excellent. I got a spicy mussels special, my husband got the Spicy Piggy, our guests got a veal dish and another pasta. We had leftovers the next day and everything re-heated just as good. We did not get dessert - much too hot and we simply wanted to leave the restaurant. On a side note - not that I would have wanted it that night - but they also don't serve coffee - just espresso (I think). Very odd to not have coffee - my guest thought. So - experience/atmosphere = 0 stars, but food was excellent - hence the middle of the road rating. Unsure if I would risk going back - great food but many other restaurants have great food + great experience.
