We came from Chicago to Naperville for some. Business and went to have dinner here and it was just amazing. Everyone was very friendly and the dinner was delicious. We sat outside on a nice summer evening. It was sunset so we had a great time as night rolled in. Besides the weather being perfect, the whole evening experience was top notch. We really loved the building, the decor and ambience. We had to take a nice long walk after eating all that delicious food like an Italian Passagiatta or stroll. The surrounding businesses in downtown Naperville are amazing. If you're looking for great Italian food, service and ambiance, you definitely should visit Mia Gia.
Without reading reviews or anything, I was kind of walking in with low expectations because I wasn't feeling Italian food at that moment and I was not excited about eating pasta and pizza, BUT I was very pleasantly surprised. At first sight, the place is very casual and welcoming. You don't need to be fancy to come here. It's actually quite the perfect spot in downtown Naperville after walking around. We got three appetizers and each one was amazing. My favorite was the zucchini fries. We also got the honey and ricotta and the watermelon salad. Each item was really special and unique. We also go pasta and pizza. The pizza dough is very tasty. You can eat it on its own and really enjoy it. I really left this place wanting more and can't wait to come back. Staff was great.
Wonderful pizza! I liked the pillowy crust and the mozzarella with contrast of balsamic drizzle. The mushroom gnocchi was fabulous, a great shareable.
First off: Make a Reservation and save yourself initial trouble. We came in and was quoted 40 mins... pretty lengthy but decided to wait and it turned into almost an hour and 15 minutes. While I understand, over quote us. They wouldn't miss our business and we probably wouldn't have waited. Plus there was no where to wait - my assumption is it's supposed to be outside but this was at night and it at least 11 degrees so that was a no for us. This just turned into us either feeling on top of the tables right inside or in the way of workers. That being said, our server was very friendly, patient and observant. He noticed when something wasn't initially dropped which is a bonus for us. The Ricotta was amazing as well as the soup. We really enjoy Arancini, but honestly would get the other two items and try something new if the opportunity arises. Both the pizzas were good, but they were busy so by the time they came the appetizers settled and weren't as hungry. The pasta as described was kind of a let down, the kids pesto (we asked another table) looked creamy and delicious which was our goal and it didn't quite get there.
First time at their Naperville location. Been to the Downers Grove several times. Great experiences at both. Came in late on a Monday before closing and had a Resy reservation, but didn't know about the half off pizza deals on Monday. :-) Restaurant was packed but bar had a few seats and decided to just stay there instead. For appetizer had the Ricotta & Honey with bread which is always yummy. For entry had the Brick Chicken and Beef medallions + Cesar salad, all yummy. We will be back!
I've been here several times and the service and management is always fantastic! I loved the Tuscan bean and sausage soup- so flavorful and like a warm hug on a cold day. This was the first time I tried the Pasta Gia and it was SO good!
We LOVE Gia Mia! Nestled in the old Naperville library, Gia Mia has a warm and cozy vibe inside and a lively patio outside. Everything we've had here is great but we especially love the bolognese and the short rib gnocchi-- these are my go-to orders. The wood fired pizza is also great, but I can't stop myself from ordering the pasta! There are a lot of great appetizers and sides as well, the wild mushroom toast and the Tuscan shrimp are two favorites in particular.
My sister decided on Gia Mia for her birthday lunch and we are so glad she did. Our waitress was pleasant. The restaurant itself is beautiful. They have a convenient lunch menus with smaller portions, which most of our table ordered from. I tried the arugula and prosciutto pizza and also had a bite of some of the pasta dishes from my dad, sister and nephew. The ravioli was also pretty tasty.
We had a really great host throughout our visit -- friendly and helpful, even recommending a few dishes when we asked. We started with the calamari, which was good, though I wish it had been a bit crispier. The prosciutto and fig bruschetta was also tasty, but the fig ended up overpowering the whole bite after a while. The highlight was definitely the Mediterranean Shrimp Pasta -- packed with a variety of flavors and easily the best dish we tried. Our drinks were great too! I had one with elderberry flavoring, which was unique and refreshing, and the other was a classic Old Fashioned with cherries that was well-balanced and smooth.
9,000 mile foodie road trip. Came to try the lunch special. Had so much potential. Not super crowded but pizza came our borderline raw in middle like they were rushing to turn over tables. Sopresatta pizza and beet faro whipped ricotta salad. Salad had a solid blend of flavors. Left some of the pizza. Server was very nice
Gia Maria is located in the former Naperville library on Washington street. The outside looks just like the former Nichols library. Unfortunately the inside has little resemblance to the library except for a few books behind the bar. The restaurant features seating out front on the patio along Washington Street. There is also seating inside and among the bar area. The inside is rather loud as an open space. The space was also quite smoky from food prep, perhaps pizza. Outside area is nice for conversation and people watching. The menu features a large selection of wines. There is also a full bar for cocktails. As for food, there are ample areas of starters, pasta selection and pizzas. Plus there are some fish and meat dishes. The salmon dish was solid. The pizzas were a good size. And the pasta with pepper m, chicken, mushroom and more had good flavor. I just wish the pasta was a bit warmer. The menu also features a selection of desserts including sorbets, tiramisu, cheesecake and more. Worth a stop in for dinner or lunch. Restaurant open from 11-9pm Sunday through Thursday m. Open till 10 Thursday through Sunday. Pro tip: make reservations.
Great outdoor patio and fun for warm weather but the pizza is just okay. Apps such as the roasted cauliflower and whipped ricotta with honeycomb as well as salads are great but wish the pizza was better. It was not very flavorful and the crust was pretty soggy. We have dined in and taken it to go and it was about the same. Service when dining in was good and I would still go back to try other items.
My favorite Italian spot in Naperville! Definitely check it out if you're in the area. We came for dinner, and there's both outdoor seating and a ginormous interior with plenty of tables. It's definitely a good spot for larger groups. Our server was also super knowledgeable about the menu and walked us through which pastas and pizzas were the most popular, which ones were seasonal, and which ones get rotated out. I really appreciated the recommendations because there were so many things I wanted to try. We ordered: - Short rib gnocchi: The short rib was extremely tender and basically disintegrated as soon as you touched it. The gnocchi paired really well with it too. - BBQ chicken pizza: We ordered both the Margherita pizza and BBQ chicken and I would definitely get the BBQ chicken again. The sauce had the perfect amount of tanginess and savory flavor without overpowering the pizza. - Chicken parmigiana: Don't skip this! The chicken had the perfect amount of savory flavor and worked so well with the tomato sauce and vodka rigatoni. This ended up being one of my favorites of the meal. I was so glad we were able to order and try so many different dishes. This is definitely a family-style kind of spot, so if you come with a larger group, you'll get to try a lot more options. Already looking forward to coming back and trying more of their rotating dishes! read more

This is the 2nd time I've had Gia Mia but the first time I've been to the Naperville location. This location seems to be more family friendly compared to the Downers Grove one. The space itself was OK. It was hard to find, you have to really search for the 'Gia Mia' sign if you aren't familiar with this location. The inside was very cramped and loud. During my time here I felt as if conversations were bouncing off the walls. It was difficult to hear the people I was having dinner with. I left with a headache wanting to get a break from how noisy it was. Service throughout was great. Everything was timed out well and our server was attentive and friendly. My husband and I shared food and they split the pasta entree. This made it easier for us to enjoy without having to go back and forth with 1 plate. We tried the spaghetti carbonara and the pepperoni pizza. Both were pretty good. I'm not sure I'd order either item again but I'm glad I tried it. 1 of my friends ordered the beet kale salad which I also tried. I would order the beet salad in the future. It was delicious and well balanced! For dessert I had the pistachio gelato and it was 1 of the better ones I've had! The portion was generous and reasonably priced. Overall the evening went well. I'd go back but only if someone coordinated the plans for this location. This 1 won't be my usual Gia Mia spot. read more

This is an excellent Italian restaurant, all the food we ordered wereamazing, the taste is very good. The service by the staff is attentive despite it being quite busy. Recommendations are definitely recommended! We loved the decor of the restaurant, very classy with a great atmosphere. There were 9 of us and everyone loves the food that they ordered. Every dish is good, absolutely no complaints! Plus great desserts! read more

Server was very attentive and checked on us numerous times. She recommended the lunch specials going on and the 1/2 price pizza deals they do on Monday's. I enjoyed the atmosphere and view from the outdoor patio. Great lunch portion for the price and the food was very tasty! I loved the bolognese sauce. I definitely recommend and will be back again! read more

Was on the search for lasagna in the Naperville area and surprisingly, a lot of the Italian places don't have it. Came on a weekday and the place was super busy. Our server was very helpful and let us know that most of the cheeses are unpasteurized. Classic Caesar: Flavors as expected and solid size for the price. Momma's Lasagna: Very solid and portion was generous. The Stinger pizza: Honey provided a nice balance from the spiciness. It is on the hotter side so keep that in mind based on your palate. Very reasonably prices and flavors are solid. Would recommend! read more

Okay this is an update to my Gia Mia experience. I went again with some friends for the second time and my experience this time around was absolutely incredible. We had patio sitting and sipped on the most refreshing in-house cocktails (not pictured bc they were indulged very quickly). The patio seating was so great, right in the heart of downtown Naperville! Let's talk FOOD! All I have to say is that you HAVE to try the Chicken Parm - it's an absolute must-try! The pesto linguine adds the most refreshing taste, and the chicken is crispy, saucy, and cooked to perfection! The Vodka Pasta with sausage is another standout. It's incredibly creamy, rich, and the perfect dish to share (or keep all to yourself, no judgment here!!!!). I tried it with chicken last time but the sausage is INSANE! Don't even get me started on the Pepperoni and Jalapeño pizza--talk about a perfect slice! The combination of spicy and savory flavors will have you coming back for more! And if you've got a sweet tooth, you *have* to try the dessert flight. It's the perfect way to end your meal on a high note. It comes with tiramisu, cheesecake, chocolate cake, and ice cream! If all of this is not enough, the service was fabulous! We were so well taken care of and constantly checked on! Highly recommend!!!! I will DEFINITELY be coming back to Gia Mia for more! 10/10! read more

Our server Dayna was terrific and engaging. Gave up ample time to make drink and dinner decisions. The General Manager visited our table during our appetizer to say Hi and ask if all was good. A big plus! In our dining experiences, not many GM's check on the guest tables like she does. She stops by every time we've dined at Gia Mia's Naperville location. read more

I have been here 3x already, every visit the food is always delicious. I've tried the prosciutto + burrata 3x too, can you tell that's my favorite so far? Service was good too. Our 2nd visit (Father's day) was not as great compared to 1st and 3rd but the food would always make up for it. Also my first time to dine Al fresco since the weather is nice. Our server I wish I've gotten her name was very mindful that it is windy so she makes sure our food, napkins and take out bag will not fly away. I do like the al fresco dining, the only complaint I have was the music was too loud. There's construction (not the restaurant's fault) too in front of the restaurant which is probably why they have a loud music. read more

We ordered the wood fire pizza and arancini. Both were great and plenty for two. Wednesdays is half price bottle wine night from a certain list. None appealed to me so I ordered a glass. Staff were friendly and the food was out in a timely manner. read more
