Fantastic dining option and experience in Naperville! I had only ever been to the original location on Taylor, but we were in town visiting family a few weeks ago and when my DH saw they had Chicken Vesuvio (something I occasionally make at home) we decided to stroll over from our hotel so he could try it. It's a Chicago-Italian dish that you won't find anywhere else in the country unless it's a Chicago style Italian restaurant and, since DH isn't from Chicago, my version is the only one he's ever had. It totally lived up to his expectations. We started with the Italian sausage and peppers appetizer. It was a very generous and delicious portion, completely shareable or large enough for a meal. The fresh bread was perfect for mopping up the extra white wine and garlic sauce. After the appetizer, I wasn't as hungry as I was going in so I had to change my choice of entree. I kept it lighter and went with the "fish salad"- a mix of shrimp, octopus, calamari, scungilli, pepper strips, thinly sliced celery, a few olives, all tossed in a fresh lemony vinaigrette. I've been craving this dish ever since! Seafood is my favorite protein and I can usually eat a LOT of it, but this salad won that challenge. As much as I wanted to finish it, I couldn't. It looks smaller in the photo because the seafood was in large pieces, but it was a big dish. I'm already planning to get it again the next time we go to Naperville! Our bellies were very full and happy, but we had to skip dessert because of that. The desserts we observed at surrounding tables looked incredible and, again, very large, so you could probably share a piece of gorgeous cake between 2-4 people depending on how much room you have! We were told that the restaurant had been closed for a long while for remodeling and, although we can't compare it to its previous version, we found it to be very clean, cozy, and tastefully decorated. They even have a nice little patio out front, but we dined inside. Although I don't remember the name of the gentleman who served us, he provided exceptional service. He was helpful and knowledgeable with his suggestions, and he was very timely and attentive. We were never left waiting for anything we needed. Many Italian restaurants these days have moved towards offering more modern and innovative dishes, Rosebud has stuck to the classics and the execute them superbly! Can't wait to go back! read more

I am big fan of Italian food but we went there for Mothers day Like they first impression is the last impression. Moment we entered our table was ready despite being a busy day and I loved the way they had put the menus on each chair and guess what they had a special menu for the Mother's Day. We ordered couple drinks and an appetizer we started with garlic knots which were actually very good with the marinara sauce. We also requested for some white sauce so they made us a fresh warm Alfredo garlic sauce, which was amazing. We also ordered bruschetta - I didn't like bruschetta because it had black olives, and I don't like olives. Also ordered stuffed mushrooms and trust me those were very good In main course i ordered Orecchiette Sausage and Broccolini pasta but being vegetarian i got sausage removed and added mushrooms. It was decent On our table rest ordered Fettuccine Alfredo, Food was good, In the end we ordered Tiramisu- it was good. But we were so full. read more

I came to Rosebud for my friend's brother's birthday dinner. They got a dinner reservation in advance for her family and I (we had a group of 6). Located in Naperville, Rosebud has several locations in the Chicago area and are owned under the Rosebud restaurant group. This particular location is in downtown Naperville and serves high-quality, authentic Italian cuisine. The inside has a modern aesthetic with an upscale, romantic atmosphere. I will say this restaurant seems more appropriate for special occasions and formal dinners. The dress code should is smart-casual or business-casual, this is not a casual restaurant. Service seemed a little off and the kitchen was definitely behind. We arrived 10 minutes after our reservation and our table still wasn't ready. We were seated as soon as it was ready, but you could tell they were swamped. The bread took about 15 minutes to come out and it wasn't super warm or fresh. Our server gave us plenty of time to look over the menu, a little too much. But he seemed very busy keeping up with the other tables, so it was more understandable. We put out appetizers and entrees in together to try and speed things up. The kitchen was extremely backed up. It took nearly 20-25 minutes to receive our appetizers. And at least another 30 for our entrees. While this was frustrating, it happens. They also forgot to add shrimp to one of the entrees, although they did take it off the bill.The other aspects of the service were wonderful though. Our waters were filled very frequently by various staff. We had the manager check-in on us a couple times as well. It was clear they were trying to do their best that night. Our server was very personable and friendly too. For the food, we started with some bread and olive oil. They do replenish the bread too. The second basket we received was much fresher than the first. For appetizers, we ordered the grilled calamari and garlic knots. The grilled calamari came with sautéed peppers and had some sort of balsamic olive oil dressing. The dressing was quite strong and the calamari had a strong charred taste. This wasn't the best, but it wasn't bad either. The garlic knots were phenomenal! With just the right amount of oil, garlic, and parmesan, they were soft and just delectable. For my entree, I ordered the Gnocchi Bolognese. This was a generous portion and had lovely presentation. The bolognese sauce was decent with a good amount of veal and beef. I wish it had more of a robust flavor though. The dollop of creme fresh on top made the dish really creamy! The gnocchi was decently tender, not too soft or overcooked. Wasn't "wowed" by this dish, but was satisfied. Overall, my experience at Rosebud could have been a little better. Communication seemed to be off that night. Kitchen was extremely backed up and a lot of errors were made. Luckily some items were taken off the final bill, which was nice. The food was good, not great. I enjoyed the atmosphere, but again, was expecting more out of the overall service. read more

The service by Alexa was perfect on a gloomy Monday night! We had not been since the remodel - and while they don't have any more room - the noise is not a problem anymore The food was delicious! We started w the meatballs for the table and they were wonderful, as was a (huge) side salad. Then came the (huge) entrees: salads were wonderful as was the cheese rav, the tortellini, the pappardelle, and the (huge, huge,HUGE) chic parm - seriously I have 2-3 meals left and it looks more like a pizza! Desert was a wonderful cannoli (and it was on house as we were celebrating a bday)! Yeah the parking sucks across the street (the other car in our party found it in the lot) but it's worth it! It's been years since we've been to a Rosebud restaurant - mostly b/c our last experience was subpar - but friends wanted to go, so we tried again recently. Now - I remember why we stopped eating there. Wine-wise - it was good - service-wise it was good. Food-wise is where it's lacking. My husband and I split the Rosebud Chopped Salad - which had lots of great ingredients in there...unfortunately, we found the salad (or was it the dressing?) quite bland. Huge portion to share but I would skip. For entrees - I got the veal piccata and he got the arrabbiata pasta. I got a huge portion of three veals but the sauce - they call it lemon butter - was not good at all. I tried to scrape it off and just eat the veal - but to me, even the veal was not great. I ended up leaving most of it. The side of pasta with marinara was fine. In terms of the arrabbiata - the sauce was quite spicy and had a great flavor. However, neither my husband (nor our friend who got the same dish) enjoyed the thick cavatelli pasta. Hard to eat, and they just thought a different pasta was warranted. We did not embark on a dessert - given our subpar meal before. Service was good and the restaurant was doing well. The restaurant is sort of in a strip mall with other stores/restaurants so parking in the lot is quite hard. We just parked in the garage across the street. Would we be back? It's been over a decade since I was here but it's still good as ever. Grilled calamari is outstanding; perfectly cooked with south char and lovely sauce. I could just have that for dinner. Steak sandwich was delicious, grilled just right medium rare, perfect horseradish sauce, too big to eat almost, enough for two or three meals. Cole slaw also good but fries (huge portion) nothing to brag about, only flaw in the dinner. Flabby, greasy, just kinda yuck but will make good latkes so they're coming home. Date had a baked cheese & pasta dish that was plenty for 4 people & he loved it, with giant meatballs. The gigantic chocolate was really yummy, as expected, with lots to take home for later. Great friendly & efficient service that got everything correct the first time, which is rare these days. Parking situation is horrendous; they have valet but I couldn't even get into the lot to get that so had to park pretty far away but at least it was free. This town is insane on weekend nights; I don't recommend going then. Go another time to make it easier. Otherwise lovely date night. read more

Christmas, 2025. Our Clown Show administration, nationally, has mandated that we couldn't afford our traditional Christmas Goose. "What to do?!" I fretted. My bride and I have maintained this tradition since we were married 35 years ago. After some wringing of hands, Al Gore's Interweb informed me that Rosebud Naperville was open again after their remodeling, and was open on Christmas Evening. I booked reservations immediately. We've been to Rosebud Naperville dozens of times in the past decade, and I can't *ever* recall a less than superb experience. We were not disappointed. The experience at the "new" Rosebud Naperville was as tremendous as it's ever been. I have lots of things to compliment them about: First: they were open on Christmas night. As an older gentlemen, I recall Holidays in my past when I was forced by circumstance to work, and I have evermore been grateful, kind, and understanding to those who need to work "today"-Christmas. I WANT businesses to be closed on Christmas; I WANT people to be with their families / loved ones, not working. But, in some cases people can't do that (as well I know from Life Experience), so, if they want to work and make money instead, I have no aversion to that, as long as they're professional about it. I'll get to that, later. As recently as this Thanksgiving (we couldn't afford a "real" turkey, despite what His Puissant Orangeness declares, and the Traeger is broken), we went to Mike D's, and had a somewhat suboptimal experience. The food was good, but was served tepid, and they were understaffed. NOT SO at Rosebud Naperville! On Christmas Night, the restaurant hummed like a well-oiled machine! We started with a pleasant greeting from the hostess, and were seated immediately. We ordered some drinks and Calamari. Drinks are drinks - Grey Goose should taste the same wherever you go - and the Calamari was wonderful - nicely grilled, fresh, and flavorful: the BEST Calamari I've had since "That's Amore" (chain) went out of business 20 years ago. Second: They had some magnificent Christmas Dinner selections. My bride had the Tenderloin filets on portabella shrooms and I had the Grouper stuffed with Crabmeat - on a bed of penne. Both were excellent, served HOT (straight from the kitchen, none of that heat-lamp hold that I can recognize immediately). One of the things 've loved about Rosebud for years - when they serve an entree, you can taste each distinct flavor in the ingredients. There was definition between the grouper and the crabmeat, and the penne was identifiable as a separate flavor. Nice! My bride gave me a few bites of her beef - it too was exquisite, and almost had me wishing I had ordered that, instead. But not quite. I was happy with my own selection, and I had a seafood jones going on. Next: let's discuss the Staff. Everyone we saw, had contact with, and encountered, were festive and jolly and friendly. They made us feel right at home, despite the fact that they were working a holiday. Kudos to the Manager (who we met but didn't introduce ourselves) for running a very efficient show, and his staffing skills. The Manager stopped by our table a couple of times, to make sure our experience was top-notch. Much appreciated! Back in the Kitchen, they must have been in a good mood, too. Jollity adds a distinctive flavor to fine food! Our Server, Costas - thanks to him as well. A younger guy, very personable and friendly, who took time to chat with us about life and stuff (we enjoy that kind of Human Interaction) without ever appearing stressed - making sure his other guests were attended-to. As a old guy myself, a couple of my old-school requests caught him off guard (Goose up with a twist, and a lemon peel in the espresso), but he caught on immediately. He had a great personality, and was very sharp: I'd like to sit down with him and have a few drinks, someday. As I mentioned - everyone else (staff wise) seemed to be in very good spirits - smiling and outgoing. They dispelled any stigma of our being "out of the house and expecting service" on a Holiday. Thank you!! Now - me being me, and delighting in becoming a crochety old man - especially at Christmas, when my Grinchlike qualities emerge - I must be sure to add a gripe. Else, I wouldn't be me. Except, I can't find a gripe - only an observation: in the remodeled Rosebud Naperville, I miss the old wooden bar in the left-rear corner. The new bar is hip and fresh. But the old bar had a nice ambiance that always made me feel welcomed. And I miss the old rotating door - same thing. In other reviews here on Yelp, I've seen many references to "high prices". Yes, the prices at Rosebud might be higher than lesser-caliber local restaurants. But thanks to his Puissant Orangeness and its Clown Show Policies, prices are high *everywhere*. We used to come here often and was looking forward to having dinner here now that they are reopened. We arrived at 4:30 and were told because we did not have reservations we could sit at the bar only. May I add, I got looked at up and down and had a metal t-shirt, felt judged. They were about 20% full. We went to dinner across the street and had a really nice meal. Came out an hour later and Rosebed was only 40% full at 5:30. I went in again to voice that I felt hurt and he stated that they are on strict orders for the first 3 weeks to only take reservations. Not a good look. Looks like they lost customer, and I am sad. I was in Naperville for work and this place was recommended. The restaurant is lovely, very comfortable with a nice vibe. They have outdoor seating which is quite nice. Service was excellent. We started with some Italian wine. We had three appetizers for the table, stuffed mushrooms, crispy, calamari, and bruschetta. The appetizers more gigantic! I could not believe what big portions they had. Everything was really tasty. I had the seafood pasta off the specials menu, my coworker had pork chops, that looked absolutely amazing. But there isn't one close enough to my home so I never really thought much about it until I went to Costco and saw that they have gift cards for $80 and you get $100. So I bought some to try out with the hubby on a Friday evening date night. Of course I made reservation. Naperville downtown has always been one of my favorite places. Reminds me of the north side where people are singing and lots of night life. There isn't parking out front so we did public parking a few blocks away but it was a nice evening so I didn't mind the walk. However, they do have valet. The atmosphere was nice and it was spacious enough for the 6 feet distancing. I ordered the LaMarca prosecco which I probably shouldn't have because LaMarca is LaMarca in a bottle. Nothing special. I should have went with a house martini. I just wasn't thinking. Ughhhhh! The spicy calamari was out of this world!!!! I mean it was huge with the most delicious spicy sauce! The hubs even ate all the spicy peppers. I would go back just for the calamari appetitizer ALONE! We also got the chicken parmesan and I was fairly disappointed. It was so tough. I just didn't love it. I will never order that again. I ordered that because everyone said how great it is. Maybe it was a bad night but mine wasn't that great. It was flat and tough and not tasty at all. I brought it home for my boys. Boys eat everything. We shared this eggplant parmesan caprese salad and that was soooooo delicious! I would also go back for that. Restaurant was beautiful. People were nice. Food was delicious besides the chicken parmesan. Oh my goodness, THIS is quality Italian food! I was worried about the high prices, but, after my first bite, I was sure that I would pay $100 for a single dish here. We started the meal off with an antipasto platter, and it was so artfully plated that I was afraid to eat and ruin the design! Upon digging in, we discovered that the appetizer tasted even better then it looked. I highly recommend this starter! My Chicken Francese was incredible, the chicken was grilled perfectly and it was drenched in the butteriest lemon sauce I've ever tried. Our waiter suggested that I substitute my side of penne marinara for a bed of angel hair pasta under my chicken. I am so glad I took him up on the suggestion--the combination of chicken and pasta together in the creamy sauce was fantastic. My sister's cheese ravioli was bursting at the seams with cheese and topped with a house Marinara. She loved it so much that she ate every last bite! The Cacio e Pepe was perfectly seasoned, and the texture of the pasta was sublime. Everything on rye dessert menu looked delicious, but we were so stuffed from the huge portions that we couldn't eat another bite! Finally, I'd like to give a HUGE shout out to our waiter, Nick! He gave us menu suggestions, spoke to us in such a friendly and welcoming manner, and we weren't the only ones who loved him; the toddler at the table next to us was so enthralled by his friendliness that she "wanted to come back every day!" We ate at Rosebud on Christmas Eve and I would like to start by giving a shout out to our waitress and the manager on staff that night. Both were so kind to us and very attentive, even when we were the last ones in the restaurant, keeping them there late on Christmas Eve. The atmosphere is classy, the wine selection is great and the food is tasty. We ordered the lamb chops as an appetizer and they were probably our favorite dish we had all night. We also got the surf and turf and risotto with fish. All were very good. I really liked the taste of the risotto, fluffy and perfectly cooked. For dessert, the chocolate cake is the best one, we also tried the carrot cake and cheesecake but the chocolate was the winner at our table! (See my photo of how delicious it looks!) Party of 10 to celebrate both my teens' birthdays this month. We tried filet mignon trilogy, rib eye, Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo, cheese ravioli, fettuccini with marina, orecchiette with broccolini, lasagna, sea bass & shrimp and short ribs with polenta. I got some pictures, apologies they were all pretty dark. The staff were all so kind and attentive, the place was clean and food came out quickly. My brothers was overly salty and they replaced it without question. They gave my kids the cutest cannoli for their birthdays. It was overly pricey though. Took the wife there for her birthday. Ordered the baked clams as an appetizer, which I would never order again. They where so tiny and honestly had a hard time finding the actual clam in all the breading. Do not order as it's a big waste of money. We shared the filet medallions with brocollini. It was cooked to the temp we requested. However, seemed all three had a blue cheese topping instead of each one having a different topping such as the advertised horseradish. Was very disappointed so scraped the entire topping off. If it wasn't for our awesome server, we'd rate this experience a 3. He split our entree up table side and surprised my wife with a birthday dessert. Was very tasty (chocolate mousse with fresh whip cream). Rosebud is one of my favorite spots in Naperville! My husband and I prefer to belly up to the bar and share a few plates. We usually split The Eggplant Stack Salad ( best I have ever had), Baked Clams, and a White Fish. The wine list is great and since I only drink white I cannot comment in the red. However, if u like white do urself a favor and order the Benvolio Pinot Grigio. I Love it so much I might name my next dog Benny. Rosebud does have a lot of turn over with bartenders but for the most part they are usually good and attentive. Atmosphere is swanky and always has a great energy. read more

The street turning into the parking lot is currently under construction, that said they only had two valet's working that evening causing a bit of a backup to the entrance. there were 2 cars parked ahead of us when we decided to sit outside and simply approach the valet on their next round. This area provided quite the show as the extreme honking messed with the ambiance. Angel, our waiter was wonderful. We went with his dessert suggestion. Nothing to write home about... I ordered the 8 finger cavatelli. It was an Italian culinary disgrace! Since when do Italians use jalapeño in their dishes?! I must admit service and ambiance were as I expected but was not happy with my food. In fact, I had the chicken vesuvio which for $33 was very bland and in fact took 40 min to cook but was not impressive. Maybe it was a bad day but this was a Friday night and I expected so much more even after I drove from Elmhurst. My partner had the eggplant salad which she had no complaints but we both agreed that the calamari lacked flavor in the breading and could have been cooked a bit longer. This is a great lunch/dinner spot in downtown Naperville. The food is really good and the portions are sizable. Due to their location and size there are usually tables available and they also offer take out. Parking can be a challenge depending on the time of day but there's a garage located across the street for additional parking. Not a great experience. Food was just ok. B minus to c grade. And guess what? Wouldnt honor valid coupon. So we go out a lot for dinner and we decided to go to rosebud because We Had a coupon that offered a free cannoli with our entree. Should have been an easy thing but NOPE! Expired at end of may so that wasnt the issue, Waiter said it was fine, so that wasnt the issue either. It was surprisingly the management/owner! Weirdly manager took photo of coupon on my phone and said looked fine. and said ok it will be right out. 10 minutes later, he backpedaled and said owner wouldnt accept this coupon.No explanation given. It was an 8 dollar cannoli so Maybe cost them 2 dollars in ingredients and labor? But cost them hundreds in any of our future business. So with that treatment, we just left. Told the manager why we were leaving and he just shrugged and said owner ordered that coupon not be honored. so basically, no cannoli for you. Hassle and a half plus time wasted. I almost expected a finger wag from the guy. Rosebud, Here is a tip. Don't say no problem, it will be right out and then yank it back even when it was a valid coupon . or at the very least give an explanation. ( or at least make up a good lie. It was an 8 dollar canolli for goodness sake, not a prime rib dinner or bottle of dom. And to top it off, We had just spent 75dollars on a subpar meal. Way Pricey for a pasta dish and a chicken dish! Fun bonus. If you sit by the front window you can see all the doordash and grubhub drivers fighting for parking and almost backing into each other while they pick up chipotle and five guy orders. I am betting that there have been a few yelling matches but i digress. So dear diners, heres my recommendation, I recommend that you do not try using any aarp or other coupons at rosebud without getting a written note up front that they will honor it. Maybe even get it notarized for extra measure because, you know, it might get yoinked. Kidding, not kidding. There are 30-40 other downtown naperville restaurants who would be happy to serve you and probably have no problem honoring coupons. Rosebud you could have handled this better. read more

Get the Chicken Calabrese!!! So soicy, garlicky and delicious !!!! I've been eating this meal for over ten years. Recently they started putting jalapeños on it, which I don't prefer, but everything else is amazing. Great food and service. read more

Watch out! There were 6 of us at a round table in the middle of the restaurant. I didn't notice it right away but there was dirty water dripping from an air-conditioning vent hitting my shirt so we moved the table over....problem solved right? No. Water on the floor. Slipping hazard. Next, the noise from the employee's stacking trays was unbearable, we advised the stafff...and no resolve. We ended up finishing our meal and skipped the desert because of the employee's banging the trays. Although the food was good, we paid our bill, hot up walked around the water on the floor and left the noise of the trays behind us. Calling Alfonse the next day he apologized, took my information and my phone number. He said he was going to investigate this and call back.....it's been over 2 weeks....nothing.
