Beef Wellington
Ann G.

We went in with high expectations and were underwhelmed by the food especially given the price. Service was very good. Fish and chips were pretty good, but the fish placed on top made the chips soggy and there were about 5 on the plate. Beef Wellington was very nice. Sticky toffee pudding was really dense, but maybe that's the way it's supposed to be.

I visited this place with high expectations given the brand name etc. I'd say the Ambience was excellent, very welcoming and pleasing to the eyes. The Service was excellent. Our server in particular was fantastic. However the reason I gave it a 3 star is because of quality of food. We ordered the Parker Rolls... this was awesome and the only highlight of the evening. Followed by Chicken Milanese and Veggie Burger ( RK Special apparently). The chicken dish was dry and tasteless, although the sauce was ok. The veggie burger was not fresh, seemed soggy and tasted bland. The fries were not well done and certainly not crispy. Overall, if someone asked me about this restaurant, I would not recommend.

We visited during Chicago Restaurant Week and had an amazing experience. The hostess and our waiter were both welcoming and attentive. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Great service and great atmosphere, will definitely be back!

Spent some time shopping downtown Naperville and worked up an appetite. Before we headed home, we decided to stop in here for a drink and something to nibble on. We headed straight to the expansive bar and were quickly acknowledged by a friendly bartender. The space is long and narrow, but sophisticated and warm with comfortable seating. Stopping in during a low volume time likely helped our situation. It was about 4pm and no one was really in the restaurant for dinner yet. That changed as we were leaving, definitely starting getting immediately busier around 5. We started by ordering the caeser salad, it was one of the best I've ever had. The pancetta on top was the icing on the cake - so good. We shared the fish and chips and it was massive! Was done to perfection. We had a great experience here and even if I was in my most critical mood, I have no complaints. Now that I know a beef wellington is nearby, I must return. Salted Caramel Espresso martini was WAY better than the OG. Wasn't too sweet and hints of salt/caramel were perfection.

Let me first start by saying that the food was good. I especially liked the crab cake in the appetizer, and the Brussel sprouts were excellent. The reason why I rated it the way I did is because the food was just not as good for the price tag that came with the food. Especially the entrees, which was beef Wellington and the tomato risotto. Also, we went to celebrate our birthday, and I expected with the amount of money that we spent on the food, we'd also get a free dessert added on at the end as well, but they fell short of that expectation too (although I understand they're not obligated to do that). Just to add a few other comments, the server was very nice and prompt, and the restaurant itself was clean and trendy. It just was not extraordinary for spending the amount of money that I did to dine here. The experience and the food both. Just a recommendation at the end for all guests: I'd say if you go for a late lunch and get things on the lunch menu. Keep things to a tighter budget, and you'd enjoy your time there much more than going for dinner and trying things that is signature to Gordon.

We recently returned to Ramsay's Kitchen to give it another try after a somewhat underwhelming first experience. I'm glad we did, because the second visit was a significant improvement across the board. The crab cake was truly exceptional--easily one of the best I've had, and it set a strong tone for the meal. I also opted for the harvest salad this time, which I enjoyed far more than the Caesar from my previous visit; it felt fresh, well-composed, and thoughtfully dressed, although I would have enjoyed a little more goat cheese. The beef Wellington, which had been a disappointment during my first visit, was redeemed. It was cooked properly to a medium rare. We also ordered the lamb shoulder, which was excellent in taste and preparation, though slightly modest in portion size. The truffle fries were stunning--crispy, aromatic, and indulgent in the best way. For dessert, both the apple cheesecake and the chocolate tart were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, offering a refined and satisfying finish. Ambience was pleasant as well. Overall, I would rate the food a strong 4.5 out of 5. However, what truly elevated this experience was the service and the evident effort from management to deliver a better dining experience. That level of care and attentiveness ultimately brings my overall rating to a full 5 out of 5.

Beef Wellington with scallops add on (prefix menu 6oz portion)

We have been to Burger in Chicago once before and thought it was just ok. For our 18 year anniversary weekend we figured we would try out Kitchen to see if it was worth the hype. When we arrived, our reservation wasn't quite ready so we sat at the bar. $31 for two mocktails that were both kind of meh. We got seated and our server was PHENOMENAL. Like wow she was amazing. Gave us recommendations that, to her credit, we didn't really listen to. We ended up doing the prefix beef wellington menu with sticky wings. Here is our assessment: - Ceasar salad had one predominant flavor - salt. Tons of salt. Needed more dressing and needed more unique flavor. Salt burned our tongues - truly was that much. - Sticky wings were beyond heavy on cilantro. Mango chutney was very spicy. Sticky wing Fresno sauce was good. Cooked perfectly. - Beef Wellington was... fine? Cooked perfectly. Truly perfect. Super tender. Outside of that, salt galore. The mashed potatoes were good, roasted vegetables were great. Pastry was a bit raw inside. Added scallops for $21. I got TWO scallops that were slightly undercooked and just DOUSED in salt. - Sticky toffee cake was fine. I preferred the sticky toffee milkshake from Burger. - Apple butterscotch cheesecake was simply ok. A bit heavy on the cinnamon, very sweet. The expediter was INSANE. Wow. Super talented and directed the kitchen staff flawlessly. Ambience was cool but it was INCREDIBLY loud inside the restaurant. It actually triggered a mild anxiety attack for me. At the end of the day, $360 after cocktails and tip? No lol. Ruth's or Morton's are better quality and $100 less. 3 Arts Club downtown absolutely blows this place away and much cheaper. You're paying for the "Ramsay Experience". We always wanted to try beef wellington. We did. Will not come back. We should have listened to the server who made some solid recommendations. If you go, maybe try a sandwich and the amazing looking bread rolls. Those looked awesome.

Well I'm torn. We are such big fans of Gordon Ramsey! I wanted to give 5 stars but I think we are at 4 stars for this dinner. Main dish - 5 star (crispy salmon) Truffle fries - 5 star Appetizers - Brussels sprouts 3.5 (good flavor but a bit chewy) Cocktails - 2 stars (we went somewhere else to have a cocktail after dinner) I ordered a cocktail first. I didn't care for it but I also don't like to complain. My friend tried it and agreed that I needed something else. She then ordered me a strawberry basil cocktail. Unfortunately, the basil overpowered the other flavors in the drink so I didn't drink that one either. We were both surprised and a little dissappinted by sub par drinks. They used small plain glasses, flavors were not balanced. Maybe our standards were too high but if the Gordon Ramsay name is on it, it should be excellent right? Especially since we know he visited this location recently. We ordered the beet salad as an appetizer and it was good. For entrees we both ordered the crispy skin salmon which was vibrant, fresh and delicious. It was perfectly cooked and the sauce and garnishes added complimentary flavors that really balanced the dish. Yes,chef! The crispy skinned salmon was quite comparable to The lovely Graceful Ordinary's crispy skin salmon though there are different sauces/garnishes. Ramsay's Kitchen is basically an elevated chain restaurant. It's good but it didn't quite stand up to my other favorites in the burbs. To be fair, my favorites are not chain restaurants. This restaurant is excellent for a chain restaurant and we loved the main dish. That is where this restaurant shined.

Came here for restaurant week. Service was good. I had the chicken Milanese (the chicken is fried). I enjoyed it but would try something different next time. The pasta on the menu looked really good but I wanted meat with my meal. The blackberry apple crumble was outstanding. I'd come back again for that soon before it is off the menu.

Service and ambiance were excellent. We were seated at a very nice table with plenty of sunlight and a good view of the street outside. Server was very personable, friendly and knowledgeable. The food could have been just slightly better which is the reason for the 4 stars. I will say the value is there with the lunch special they offer. My English pea soup wasn't something I would normally get but it was really good. My boyfriend enjoyed his mango sticky wings a lot. We both liked our burgers but agreed they weren't the best burgers we've ever had. Sticky toffee pudding tasted like it did at Hells Kitchen so that was fantastic. My boyfriend enjoyed his cheesecake too. Our friend had the Idiot Sandwich and said he didn't feel that was worth the cost. Our server did mention how Gordon has only visited this location maybe a handful of times in the last several years so maybe that's something that could use improvement and the food quality would follow.

Don't sleep on Happy Hour here. Mon thru Fri from 3-6pm. Drinks are between $12-$14 and there are menu items as cheap at $6. I met a friend here for HH and with 2 great burgers, 2 drinks, and the sticky cauliflower, our bill was under $60. Half the price it'd be if we ate here during regular hours. She loved it because normally Ramsay's would be out of her budget, but she was able to try some of their food at these prices It was really quiet at 6pm and we had the bar to ourselves.

Good service and food!! We've been to several Ramsays and this one was one of the better ones. We got the usual but the sticky toffee here was one of the better ones we have had. The salmon skin with curry was new take on this but good enough compared to the old version. The Wellington was amazing.

Had a lunch reservation. Seated quickly by host. Ambiance is new and cheek. We both ordered the smash burgers. We each loved them! The truffle fries were to die for! I would come back again for dinner.

How often does chef Ramsey visit this restaurant?

Not often enough based on my experience there. He'd be disappointed for certain.

How quickly does the beef Wellington run out at dinner?

It truly depends on the day. We had an early 5:00 reservation on a Saturday and didn't have a problem. We have friends that had a 8:00 reservation on a Friday and they ran out.… Read more

Is the meat halal?

No, but they do have many items on the menu to select from.

Does Ramsay's Kitchen offer takeout?

No, takeout isn't offered at this time. I wondered, too!

Is there a dress code for dinner service?

No, the dining room is very casual and full service at the bar is also casual!

Can I bring friends from out of town in for the bar on a Friday afternoon without reservations? If so, are there bar hours?

Yes. We stopped in without reservations and after a 10 minute wait a couple of bar stools opened up.

Are reservations needed for lunch?

Hi Dina, reservations are highly recommended, however, we will accept walk-ins as availability allows. We hope to see you soon!

Farm to Fork - Freshly picked cherry tomato!

A truly un*fork*gettable experience!…read more To kick off our foodie adventure, we boarded a school bus for a short shuttle ride to McDonald Farm. Already giddy with anticipation, I was like a kid en route to a field trip -- practically dancing in my seat with excitement! Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a delightful puff pastry topped with a flavor-packed tomato jam and filled with a surprising fresh cow cheese "quark" (akin to cottage cheese). And amused my bouche was after just a taste - especially when paired with Chateau Chantal's "Tonight" (a light, sparkling wine). We hadn't even begun the tour, and already I was marveling at the farm's beauty - a perfect marriage of elegance and casual simplicity. From the repurposed wood barrels (posing as cocktail tables!) and dozens of glowing tea-lights...to the charming paper-bag-lantern pathway...and the acres and acres of picturesque land - it was an amazing backdrop for the beautiful evening ahead. The tour opened with some insight into the farm's history and their partnership with The Conservation Foundation (dedicated to preserving open space) and Green Earth institute (committed to promoting healthy eats and sustainable farming), before leading us onto the field for (drumroll) - picking our own cherry tomatoes! It was quite awe-inspiring to harvest my own little tomato and enjoy it in its most fresh state - right off the vine! Sweeter and less acidic than their store-bought counterparts - these were truly the best tasting tomatoes I've had the pleasure of enjoying! Though I could have easily spent hours sitting in the field, popping cherry tomatoes like candy - we were ushered into one of the dining tents. With the candlelit tables (via tea-lights in mason jars!) and romantic string-lighting - it could just as easily double as a wedding reception venue. A couple did actually exchange vows on-site today, and enjoyed the meal as their wedding dinner (genius!). And now...the meal! Everything down to the honey topping the dessert was locally sourced - which is sure to be appreciated by your taste buds! We kicked off the feast with an apple-onion soup (served as an apple-sauce-y puree) topped with gruyere croutons and crispy bacon pieces. A truly inventive and delicious dish! I opted for the wine pairing (as opposed to the beer) - and the Pinot Blanc complemented the soup wonderfully. We were then treated to a gorgeous mix of arugula, pickled cucumber and radishes - topped with shaved goat cheese and a sprinkling of pepitas. No exaggeration - THE BEST salad ever! Non-existent was the slight bitterness that I've come to know with store-bought arugula - these greens were delightful! The pickled cucumber had all the flavor of a good 'ol dill, but with a freshness that you'd be hard-pressed to find in a jar. Though I was skeptical about the radishes - these were unlike any I've ever had. Perfectly crunchy, with a clean (and slightly spicy) taste - I was surprised at how much I liked them. Another testament to the powers of fresh, organic, sustainably-farmed produce I'm sure! And as my wine accompaniment, the Proprietor's Reserve Trio - a full-bodied blend of merlot, cabernet franc and pinot noir (a must-try for red wine enthusiasts). Now, when reading the description for the next menu item - I was doubtful that I would be a fan: "Roasted Beet, Eggplant and Fennel with Mixed Pears and Creamed Tatsoi." Another pleasant surprise! Though on its own, the beet, eggplant, and pear mixture was a bit overpowering - the addition of the creamed tatsoi (a cross between spinach and bok choy) was the magic ingredient which brought the entire dish together. And the Malbec (a deep red wine) was so visually pleasing alongside this dish! For our main course we were served a heaping plate of honey roasted pork, thin-sliced and cooked to a juicy perfection. As a pop of flavor amongst the pile of pork - a cheery yellow candied jalapeno squash. Loved this - it was like sweet yellow pepper flavor meets the snappiness of a fresh zucchini. And as a nice contrast to the heaviness of a meat dish - the lighter Proprietor's Reserve Pinot Gris. And finally, the piece de resistance - the dessert! When the "Brown Butter Berry Tart" finally arrived - I knew it had been worth the wait. Made with unbelievably fresh berries - and with a tartness that rivals even the most sour-face-inducing desserts I'd had in the past - this was a happy way to end the meal. Topped with a honey-basil yogurt and a balsamic-infused caramel - it was simply divine. And as my final wine pairing, a pleasantly sweet Riesling to complement the berry tart -- a fabulous closing toast to an excellent night! A sincere THANK YOU to Candice G. and Yelp for honoring me with the chance to partake in the Farm to Fork experience! As a result, I've decided that I now want to either (1) own a farm; (2) live on a farm; or at the very least, (3) continue to support such initiatives (probably the most feasible :)

After parking in the nearby Kingsley Elementary school lot, we were whisked away via magic school bus a half mile away to the farm. We followed our noses to the crowd gathered around an outdoor lobby area where diners mingled and sipped on beer or champagne and nibbled on the amuse bouche, a Puff Pastry fill with Cow Cheese Quark topped with tomato jam. The Quark is very similar to cream cheese. Alcohol by Chateau Chantal and Two Brothers Brewing were Tonight Champagne and the specially made Pale Ale, just for Farm to Fork. Lucky us! After warming up a bit we were led into the fields where we learned about the Conservation Foundation and the Green Earth Institute from farmer Martin Lemos. We were allowed to pick some of the cherry tomatoes right off the vine and eat them! Careful not to overeat we were led into one of the greenhouses which were converted into dining areas. String lighting and white tablecloths, you couldn't have guessed that a dinner this elegant was happening here. We were shown to our seats and the parade of food started making it's way through. The food was lovingly made by Valerie Bolon, who has quite an impressive resume, having been through the kitchens of Emeril's, Gordon, and MK, one of my favorite restaurants! Our first course was an Apple Onion Soup, with Gruyere croutons and Bacon as garnish. I would never think to pair those two together as a soup base, but it works very well, neither flavor overpowering the other. The meaty bacon and salty croutons also helped to balance the sweet/salty profile. Since I went with the beer pairing, Cane and Ebel was the accompanying pour. Sweet, creamy, latte-like. this was one of my favorites. Salad course was Arugula, Pickled Cucumber, Radishes, Goat Cheese and Pepitas. The best salads I've ever had in my life contained arugula, and this was no exception! So many flavors on one plate, peppery, sweet, acidic, nutty, sweet, and explosion of taste. So good. Paired with this was Prairie Path, a blonde ale. Sweet and minorly bitter finish and sort of light, it was almost citrusy. Vegetable course was a Roasted Beet, Eggplant and Fennel with Mixed Pears and Creamed Tatsoi. At first when I saw this on the menu, I thought it said Roasted BEEF. Score! Bonus! Negative. It was Roasted Beet. With a T. But it was okay actually. I take it back, it was good, considering I'm not the biggest fan of beets. The fennel did surprise me though, I've never had fennel as crisp as this, since I usually eat it cooked. With a light licorice flavor, lighter than I expected. The creamed tatsoi also helped to add balance to the sweet flavored vegetables. Tatsoi is kind of a cross between bok choy and spinach. Domaine Dupage was served with this course. Smelled almost like iced tea, this beer did. Tart and caramel flavored. The meat course! And my favorite meat, PORK. Love pork. Honey Roasted Pork with Candied Jalapeno Squash? Thank you sir, may I have another? Perfectly roasted pork renders enough fat out that you don't feel like you're eating something too unhealthy, and still leaves enough fat to push the flavor. THIS WAS PERFECTLY ROASTED...The squash was good too, but it was the second fiddle to that pork GOOD GOD. I regret that I couldn't clean off my plate due to the shrinking capacity of my stomach during an epic meal as this was. Outlaw IPA was the beer, starting to get buzzed was I. Citrus and pine scented, medium to full body, I wasn't sure if it was this particular beer or just all the beer I drank that was getting me full. Oh yeah, and the food too. I don't know. AND THE BIG FINISH! Brown butter berry tart with Honey Basil Yogurt and Balsamic Caramel. Talk about everything in balance! I'm a libra, this must be why I'm obsessed with everything balancing. When I first looked at the dish, I saw the yogurt and thought someone accidentally put tzatziki sauce on my tart. And then I forked a bit of it and tasted it. HOLY MOTHER NATURE! You know when you're finished with dinner and you don't even finish your dinner, then you see dessert and think, "I don't have room" but you demolish your dessert with reckless abandon? That was me. Stuffed to capacity, I somehow found the space to fit this in, along with the beer, the Ebel's Weiss. Unfiltered and very strong banana flavor, at this point, I can't tell if I'm smelling or tasting it. I smashed it. The things I loved about going to this event/dinner was the fact that all components of the dinner were locally sourced within 125 miles and we shared a table with people from all walks of life, had great conversations with everyone and thoroughly enjoyed everyone's company. Farm to Fork is a great thing, support sustainable agriculture!

I dined in for dinner during restaurant week and I enjoyed it. The atmosphere is similar to the Oak Brook location, cozy and dark. Although it was a winter time dinner so that might be why I feel this way. It is very spacious inside and kept clean. A small con of mine was I didn't love how tables next to me were being sprayed while I was eating. Maybe spraying on the rag would be better, idk, it just felt like bc of how close the tables were my food could easier be sprayed in the process as well. Service throughout was good. AJ our original server was attentive and gave great recommendations. While I was there, there was a shift change so we had a different server for the later half of our meal. Unfortunately our 2nd server lacked when it came to checking in and taking our orders for the next course. The food was great! My favorites were the calamari (cooked perfectly, crispy yet juicy, and flavorful) and the Hand-Rolled Three Finger Cavatelli. The chicken in the pasta was way over cooked, other than that though it was great. I tried the cookies n cream gelato and it was a miss for me. Texture and flavor wise it was more of an ice cream in my opinion. I was also expecting an Oreo cookie vs idk what cookie they use is. Either way - Overall everything was great and I can see myself dining in again soon.
