Visited on a Saturday night. Environment: Fair. It was very loud and tables were very close to each other. We had eight people in our party and it was almost impossible to hear the person next to you unless they were looking directly at you. Forget hearing anyone not next to you. Food: Marginal. Had Spaghetti Primavera with chicken. The chicken was very dry. Squash was mushy and carrots too crunchy. Was supposed to be in a garlic and olive oil sauce - no garlic or olive oil. Virtually no flavor. After a few bites, I stopped trying eat what was a poorly prepared dish. It may be an anomaly. Service: Poor. Server did not know their own specials and had to look at the special menu. Even then, his description was poor. Two of the drinks were wrong and the server had no idea what the drinks were supposed to look like. I was at one end of the table. No fewer than 6 times the server served something by reaching across me - when there was room to take two steps to go around. He also spilled water on one of the people in our party while trying to refill a water glass. Had to ask for used dishes from salads to be taken away when the entree was served. The prices are a bit high and the food is okay. The hostess is friendly but also edgy...I'm pretty sure she is in the mafia :) I ordered take and was told no at first but she changed her mind and allowed me to order and wait at the bar for foods to be prepared. The chicken parm was HUGE!! It came with pasta and some bread although a super small heel and one other slice which was disappointing. I couldn't eat it all but I tried! We had occasion to be Naperville last evening. Didn't have an idea where we were going to eat. The construction down there is killing the businesses. I told my husband to pull in. We got there early for dinner so we figured we could get in. My husband had never been there so it was decided. He was so happy we did. I tried a raspberry mule. Great choice, my husband finished his beer so he could get one too. The hostess fixed another drink with honey whiskey and lemonade. Bill saw veal braciola on the menu. Most Italian restaurants don't serve. I had baked ziti. It was fabulous. The service was outstanding. Don't let the construction hold you back. It's worth it. We plan on going back soon. read more

I love Rosebud. I love their food, but to my shock and horror there's no longer cavatelli nor 8-finger baked cavatelli on the menu. That's a travesty! We were excited to finally dine out during COVID. Before you give me the wrath for dining out during COVID, let me proudly say that all indoor dining CDC requirements were adhered by the restaurant staff at all times - proper table distance, masks, paperless menus... they are doing what they can to survive and I'm happy to support them. My boyfriend is GF so they do have that as a pasta option which is awesome. He got the special for the evening - gameli pasta (GF penne substitute) with shrimp, asparagus, sundries tomatoes, spinach wrapped in a creamy sauce with a small kick of pepper flakes. I ate the linguini with clams (red sauce instead of white - you get the option) and it was excellent! Both dishes were very generous with portions so unbutton that top pant button! Service was great as well. Our server Lorenzo was kind and attentive. I'm 100% Italian so I'm picky when it comes to Italian restaurants. Food was good and this restaurant is a great spot in downtown Naperville. I've been into this Rosebud's a few times however tonight was the experience that I felt I had to write a review of. I've always had exceptional food and service here which is why I decided to celebrate my birthday there solo this year. The bartender was so kind and the manager even asked if I was celebrating anything, found out it was my birthday and brought my out a cake. The cake was even lit with a candle! Food - Excellent I tied the stuffed mushrooms, calamari, veal piccata and eggplant parmegna. All of it was really tasty and full of flavor. Beer veal piccata I have had. Got carryout from this place yesterday for the first time. Positives 1) Best fried calamari I've ever had. 2) Large, generous portions of everything that was ordered. Negatives 1) After getting home, I noticed that I was charged a $2.00 surcharge (I don't know for what). I read some of their Yelp reviews and saw that you can ask for it to be removed, which I wish I knew beforehand. 2) I ordered coconut cake (and the receipt said coconut cake) but was given chocolate cake with no explanation or apology. An overall good experience and I would go again but I would ask for the $2.00 surcharge to be removed before paying. read more

Absolutely love Rosebud for amazing Italian food! I tried their margarita pizza and 3 types of pasta- my favorite pasta was the seafood one with clams and white wine sauce. It's a bit on the pricier side but you can definitely taste the quality. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes. read more

Had a horrible dinner here tonight. We were a party of 3 and arrived @ 7:40pm. Our food was served to us by 8:10pm. The place closes at 10:00pm on Sundays and we were rushed out of the establishment an hour and a half ahead of time. The waitress came to our table within 30 minutes of eating to ask if we wanted a box. The busboy took the candle off the table while we were still eating, and they began turning the lights off right after. All of this happened while the manager was within eyesight. Just because we were the last reservation they had and the last customers in the restaurant because it was slow doesn't give them the right to rush anyone out. Especially for the amount of money you pay just to eat there. We had terrible service and when the service is bad the food is not as enjoyable. Ate at Rosebud in Naperville for the first time in a couple years last night. Service was fantastic, ambiance great, our server was top-notch. Food seemed to have changed a bit from what I remembered. Ate late so just ordered apps. Baked clams were about the size of a teaspoon. There were seven of them for $19. Absolutely not worth it. I ate them because that was all I ordered for myself, but there was literally nothing to them. The meat in each clam was about the third of the size of a dime, if that, with breading on top. Worth maybe $6, but definitely not $19. We ordered Arancini for her that I also tried a couple bites of. It was ok but the sauce reminded me of SpaghettiOs. We got the jumbo shrimp, but I didn't try those so I can't speculate but she said they were just ok. The only good thing we ordered was the coffee and the tiramisu. I will go there again for dessert, but that would probably be it. It seemed the quality has dropped since our last visit. read more

What an unexpected gem in the center of Naperville. I was there for a dinner with friends. Not sure what to expect, I proceeded cautiously... Staff was very friendly and provided super service. The menu looked comprehensive but I had some support form the others at the table, and the waitress was super. The starter was the specialty aubergine salad and it was a huge hit. the layers were thoughtfully stacked for presentation but also gave a nice blend of tastes from the greens to the mozzarella. Entrees were really large - none of us was able to finish the meal so it was taken to nibble at later... The chicken masala was very nicely cooked and filled a really large plate. The pork chop was also delightful and even though I am not huge on the sweet stuff on it, there was a good combo. The Mama Pasta may or may not have been on the menu but it was served on request. I thoroughly enjoyed the lamb chops. They were cooked just like i asked (medium rare) and the sauces were just right, not overpowering the taste of the lamb. Delightful. We went here for Valentine's Day because we had a gift card and we really enjoyed it! We had a 6:30 reservation and they were running behind so we were not seated until 6:45, that was really the only negative of the night. We started with some wine, we ordered a red but the waiter gave us a recommendation that a similar bottle was a much better value, $55 at the restaurant but it's $32.99 at ninny's and $80 at his last restaurant, which means great value since they usually charge at least 2-4x store prices. We actually saw the bottle later at binnys and he was spot on! And the wine was good! Great service. We also got the spicy calamari over the regular calamari per his recommendation and really enjoyed it. Never had a fried calamari in a spicy soupy sauce with hot peppers so it was different but really good. Girlfriend got the 8 finger cavatelli which she really enjoyed and I got the Grandmas gravy dish which was very good with super tender meat. Overall a great meal with really good service. One note is the prices may seem high. But the portions are massive. We had full meal sized leftovers of all 3 dishes. So when you think of it as dinner and lunch it's a good deal. read more

The environment is ok. I also have a fire wood oven pizzeria and I like to go around trying pizzas when I travel. They had great wine from Mendoza Argentina and the salad was great as was the crème brûleé I ordered BUT the pizza, was not the best. I've been to third World countries that have way better pizza than their's. Do I recommend? Maybe If you're looking for a worldclass fire wood oven pizza experience and a taste of well prepared pizza, this isn't the place for you. If you'd like a good place in a pintoresque town with great service and amazing wine and you don't mind a mediocre pizza, then yes. In all fairness, the people in charge of my service were amazing. The bread is chewy and complimentary and they give you plenty of olive oil and Parmesan. 8 Finger Cavatelli was really flavorful. Came with a group of four for a late lunch on a weekend. The ambience is nice. We were quickly seated. The server was very nice and speedy. Ordered three pastas and an appetizer to share. Calamari appetizers was good. A good portion for 4 to share. The lemon was hard to juice but the sauce was tart enough to balance the deep fried outer layer. Our three pastas were: daily special shrimp linguine, square noodles and fusilli arrabbiata. The linguine was really good - white creamy sauce that stuck to the linguine and shrimp with no extra soupy leftovers. The square noodles were an interesting texture and shape - almost like wonton skins - smooth and thin. The over all taste wasn't outstanding though. A simple thick tomato soup. Fusilli arrabbiata was also similar with less soupy-ness and a nice spicy kick. It wasn't at all 'spicy' but had a nice red pepper flavor. Looking back, definitely would have switched one of the pastas out for a house salad. There was basically no veggies in the entire meal outside of tomato sauce and basil. This place has definitely gone down the tubes. My husband and I were looking forward to a good meal today at Rosebud and left with stale bread and cold water in our bellies. We were seated with hard as rock bread and some water while we waited for a waiter to come to our table. After viewing the menu and waiting 20 minutes, nobody came to our table. Just a busboy asking if we wanted more bread. We didn't want more bread-we were hoping a waiter would come by to take our order.
