We came to Amore Mio recently for a work dinner and had mixed feelings. The service and ambiance were excellent. Soft lighting, music, and tables spread far enough that seating felt intimate. The food was just okay. The margherita pizza was cheesy and had a nice crispy crust. The fettuccine ricotta was not very good. It tasted bland and the only thing that came through was the spice. Nothing seemed to be made in house, which is disappointing considering the price of each item. There isn't a huge assortment of beer, but there are plenty of wines, specialty cocktails, and mixed drinks to try. Overall, we had a nice time together at this restaurant, but the food isn't the greatest of all the options downtown. read more

Always looking to try new-to-me locations near the Paramount theater, and this was our selection this month when seeing White Christmas. The restaurant was cozy and romantic with soft lighting, candles, white tablecloths etc. My friend had a glass of wine she enjoyed, my husband loved the old fashion, and I had a holiday twist on the apperol spritz. We went on a busy evening, so the kitchen did get a bit backed up- but our server communicated the whole time so it did not feel like a problem. My husband had a delicious risotto dish and I went with the classic spaghetti bolognese which I loved. I absolutely had enough for leftovers the next day. The caprese was delicious with the salted heirloom tomato's. This was my favorite out of the three dishes that we tried. The risotto itself was a little bland and lacked any flavor, the shrimp and scallops were seasoned with a Cajun salty spice but it truly should have been all over because the dish was very bland. The rigatoni vodka was delicious and the pasta was the perfect texture. Random tip- bring a smaller purse because there is nowhere to set it unless you're at a table with a bench. Overall I really loved the decor and ambiance and definitely want to come back to try some other dishes on the menu! Service was wonderful and I like the red bow ties everyone was wearing. read more

Post-theater dinner at a new restaurant. Our friends suggested Amore Mio because they've dined here before. Now I see why. The staff was so friendly and on top of everything, especially our server Dennae. She provided great service and was engaging. The food was delicious. The four of us shared a bottle of wine and the focaccia with ricotta and prosciutto. Next my husband had the tomato basil soup, and I had the grilled romaine. I tasted the tomato soup and it was luxurious and creamy, and I don't even like tomato soup. The grilled romaine had a good char, but I would've preferred a dressing like a Caesar. For the main event, my husband had chicken parmesan and I had the whitefish. Both of our entrees were delicious. I think the chicken Parmesan, though, was the better of the two. I usually don't order chicken Parmesan because it's deep fried and my husband's chicken was light and moist and seem like it was baked so a healthier version. My whitefish was full of flavor with a lemon caper sauce and was perfectly moist I was worried seeing the 3.5 rating on Yelp. I think Amore Mio deserves a better rating. We'll definitely be making a return visit. Not only because we enjoyed the eats, but the location was within walking distance of the Paramount Theater. A great pre- or post-theater place to dine. I didn't get a chance to try their food out because the owner was absolutely awful. I came here to celebrate a birthday and saw that it was open on Apple Maps and google. Drove all the way here and came inside just for one of the workers to tell me they are closed and don't open until 4pm when it says 2pm online. He wanted us to wait for the owner to get done in the bathroom. So we waited for about five minutes then decided to stand outside so we could figure out our next move with where to eat. Not only does the owner finally come outside, she doesn't say a word, she just tested the lock on the door and locks the door. I really want to try them but not anymore, it told me everything I needed to know about their customer service. I just checked their website+google and they still didn't update the hours for Sunday. read more

The food was just OK. The mussels were good. Shrimp with ravioli were good lacking some flavor . The pizza came out way after and we had to share the first dinner. Also, the pizza was burnt. She said it could've been close to the ashes as why I don't think I'll be returning. read more

This was my return visit to Amore Mio. It was just as delicious as before! Maria did a great job serving us and was cognizant of our time as we were attending the theatre. We started with the foccacia appetizer (see pic) delish!! The basil limoncello martinis were refreshing on a hot day and paired well. Today, I ordered the Risotto Scallopine. It had scallops, shrimp, asparagus, crispy prosciutto, and shallots. The portion was perfect. The shrimp were good size, and the tails were removed. Very delightful. This restaurant is cozy and decorated tastefully. A nice date night stop, or for us, pre theatre stop. read more

We celebrated Valentines a day later and wanted to try Amore Mio. It was great! It was very busy but we were able to get some seats at the bar. The host and the bartender were very friendly. I started with a pineapple IPA with a unique salt on glass that was a great touch. Wife had a delicious and carefully crafted botanical drink. The crab cake appetizer was great. Then our main dishes were linguini fruiti di Mari and Risoto Scallopine. 5 stars. We will be back! read more

Had a reservation at 5:15, arrived at 5:20 and waited behind a group of 4 women to be seated for 20 minutes. They did not have a reservation so they left. When we were finally greeted a very rude hostess told us we were "late because we arrived at 5:30 and they did not have a table for us." That was a total lie. The restaurant was busy as I'm sure people were catching the play like we were afterwards. We ended up getting seated in the corner of the bar. The service was terrible and the food was salty and the drinks were mediocre at best. Definitely avoid this place!! read more

I have now tried the bar and the restaurant. I went with a group of five. We had bruschetta and calamari. I'm not a big fan of bruschetta but liked this because the bread was soft. First and last time we eat here, we made a reservation 2 days in advance and when we arrived we had to wait because they'd given our table away. They then proceeded to give us the smallest table.. it looked like my grandsons toddler table, nothing fit on our table and we couldn't even move. We tried letting that not ruin our night but then we ordered our food and had to wait ONE hour for our food to get to our table. When we looked at the food it did not look appetizing, plates were dirty, our wine glasses had lipstick marks all over. I ordered chicken lemon and it looked like it was a soup, and it was also very sour. We tried saying something but all we got was attitude and no resolution .. After enjoying some libations at neighboring Mccarthy mills and French 75, I thought it would have been a good idea to go check this place out for the first time with my husband (white male) and a friend of of ours (white male). I should have known, with this heavily 'coded' message that greeted me at the door that this was about to turn sour. I am a Hispanic, brown male. The amtoshpere certainly was what it was, red lit big ole bar. Comforting, but illusive. Overall, nice drink, had a smoked mezcal cocktail, pretty good topper for the evening. Upon our friend leaving for the evening, me and my husband decided to use the restroom one at a time where I was called out by, I assume the doorman or bouncer fellow, and was reminded or encouraged to not use my hat while in the establishment. Pictured below is the hat I was wearing that evening. I was like ' oh sure my apologies' . Used the restroom and came back out to where my husband was standing, who was wearing a similar hat to me, and asked if was asked to take off his hat by that guy over there. He mentioned to me that he wasn't told of any such rule and was never approached by the gentlemen. That more than a little irked me. Being the only obvious difference being my skin tone we approached the gentleman and asked why my husband wasn't approached with this rule. He reiterated the rule can be changed and enforced by management at any time. Which confused me even further sine we were there for about an hour already. Suffice it to say, it was a disappointing experience that I would not recommend anyone go to for the blatant racism and discrimination they exhibited. How this would survive in the city of lights, Aurora, will surprise me. I don't think it will. I can definetly reccomend other establishments near by to try, as already mentioned Mccarthy mills and French 75. You can also try tavern on Broadway and Aurora taphouse too. read more

This used to be Milano's. We just tried it and it was simply disgusting. Had the chicken picaatia (sic) the chicken was obviously frozen and very tuff that I could not eat it. My wife had a very disgusting lasagna filled with hamburger instead of sausage. She had to throw that out as well. This is a sad replacement and is totally fake Italian food. read more

My friend and I went there today for lunch. I ordered the Cajun crab ravioli and fried calamari. Both were good. The calamari was perfectly breaded and not chewy. I loved the grilled lemon touch added to the plate. The crab ravioli was light and delicious. It had great presentation. My friend ordered the bruschetta that she enjoyed. It looked so fresh and lovely. She also got the salmon pasta dish that she enjoyed. The setting was great - tastefully decorated and set up. Red walls, good music, nice decor. My wife and I made reservations for a regular table (the reservation specifically asked whether we wanted to sit at the bar, a regular table, or a high top) at 6:30PM on New Years Eve for our anniversary of engagement. We got there just before 6:30 and the host tried to seat us at a high-top so we asked why we were not able to sit at the regular table that we had reserved in advance. We were told that they had a large party at 7:30 and could not sit us at a regular table because they would have to kick us out at 7:30 for the other party. After a minute of discussion, we decided to go elsewhere so we told the host to go ahead and cancel our table as we would be leaving. The host told us to wait while she talked to another waitress and agreed to sit us at a regular table. The food was OK. Maybe the same quality as Olive Garden for a much higher price. My wife's espresso Martini had a very high pour to the point where you couldn't taste anything besides the vodka. This restaurant calls itself Itailian/Latin fusion, but the latin part was nowhere to be seen from what we could tell besides the checkbook at the end which said Altiro Latin Fusion (which I believe is another restaurant owned by the same people). We have decided that this would be our one and only visit. read more

Tried this place after seeing the location was very close to home and the interior is beautiful. However they need to do better on their dishes not authentic enough. Overall, it was a great experience! The server was super knowledgeable on the wine and menu. She was also very attentive on refilling water, and getting more drinks! A friend of mine was gluten-free, and they were able to accommodate her. I had the spaghetti Bolognese, which was delicious! It had a kick, and I really liked that! Another friend ordered the chicken Parmesan and the only downfall on that was the portion size for the amount it cost. There was no pasta with it. Just a chicken cutlet. It would be nice if they offered bread and butter or bread and olive oil at the table to eat before and during the meal. It is a very intimate and beautiful space. The Ambiance was perfect. Modern, yet cozy. The piano bar after dinner was 5 stars and the gem of the night. As far as service, everyone was very friendly, but new and did not seem to know the menu or how to make basic cocktails at the bar. Hopefully with time and experience that will improve. Food was ok. My chicken parmigiana was very good but the marinara was way too sweet, and I normally enjoy a sweet sauce. My wife's risotto was very flavorful but lack the seafood we are accustomed to at other Italian restaurants. 2 stars because the Banana Foster dessert. My wife and I were really looking forward to it since it's one our favorites. I did not expect to see it done like they do at Brennan's in New Orleans but this was bad. Tiny little scope of ice cream, over ripe mushy bananas and the sauce just wasn't up to par. My wife's dish was ok but light on the seafood except the calamari, which was the rings that are always over cooked. Even though these were not as bad as some places the were still overly chewy, plus the shrimp were over cooked. The sauce was good. I oredered Fettuccine Basil with chicken. It had way to much Pesto. but the Pesto was good. F on the dessert, c to c- on the food, b on the service. Might go back and give them another try but stay away from the pasta. Maybe their whitefish. Ambiance would be a C for over doing it with plastic flowers. Suggest the owner seek out a new recipe for the Banana Foster, even with fresh banana's it would not get more than a D-. read more

Had a great experience at this restaurant last evening. The food is outstanding, very flavorful. A nice variety of menu offerings. Prices and food portions very reasonable. Service was great, we had a very friendly and helpful waitress. The atmosphere is very nice, great ambiance, music playing in the background was very nice, not too loud or intrusive. Afterwards we were able to see the downstairs piano bar. It was too early to hear the music, but a very friendly manager Cameron showed us around, we will look forward to visiting again at a later time to enjoy the music offered downstairs. The piano bar will be a nice place to stop in if looking for some drinks and entertainment after a dinner or event. I highly recommend this restaurant read more

Food was not good. Homemade pasta was undercooked and doughy. Noodles not even fully cut. Chicken in dish was obviously precooked, presliced chicken breast, not fresh at all. Served 3 ravioli pillows as a full entre. Wine was a $15 bottle sold for $45. Ordered tiramisu, came out still frozen solid on top, soggy on the bottom. Really disappointed. I truly wanted to like this newer restaurant, but it missed the mark. Positives: the place looks great (pretty remodel from Gillerson's Grubbery), the people are friendly, the tables are well spaced, the pace of dinner was never rushed and most of the food was fine. Negatives: I had mentioned in my open table reservation, made weeks ahead, that it was our anniversary and, if there was a special place to seat us, I'd appreciate it. Our anniversary was never mentioned and we were seated at a table for 2 right in the middle of the room. The table is too small for the servers to get plates on and so we were awkwardly handing empty plates back to them. It was not a location for a romantic meal either. My husband wanted a beer, so ordered a Peroni. The waitress came back and said she was sorry but the were out of ALL their beer except Guiness (at an Italian restaurant??) or a pineapple IPA. How can you be out of all your beer at 7 PM on a Saturday night? I have never experienced that before. When our food came, the server (not our waitress) had no idea who got which entree. That should be a given, especially with only two people. The food was fine, not great. We had the mussels, Chicken Vesuvio and the risotto. The sweet waitress asked if we would like dessert and we ordered the bananas foster. Goodness, I love a few bites of dessert, but that was the most visually unappetizing thing I have ever seen. A half scoop of ice cream on a big plate of messy sauce and mushy bananas. It just was terrible. Lastly, a manager came by and asked if we would like a tour of the piano bar. It was closed for a private party that night but he said we could get a drink down there. Ok, we thought! By the time we went down the stairs, the party was beginning to arrive and so it was incredibly awkward so we just left and went to French 75 for an after-dinner drink. We had a 7:30 reservation and were seated just before. Totally ignored by two servers and the manager for nearly 20 minutes. Once a server acknowledged that we were a table needing serving she came by and took our drink order as well as an appetizer. It took almost another 20 minutes for two drinks-that were in their signature drink menu-and the appetizer quickly followed. I should mention the AC was not working and it was very hot, uncomfortably hot, they eventually opened the doors and created a cross breeze to offer some relief from the heat. The server took our food order when she brought the appetizer. It's now close to 8:15. By 9pm we had not received our food. Finally we approached the manager, who had been totally oblivious to the idea that only two people at one table had not received any food for almost an hour and a half, requesting our check for the items we did receive so we could leave. They did comp our app and drinks. Great. But it was not packed, the chef/owner was out at the bar talking to guests. It seemed as though no one really knew their roles, and had just started that day. We have gone to all 3 Altiro restaurants, many times. This was a great disappointment. read more
