The worst Italian food I've ever been served anywhere. Honestly, you can't even say they have Italian cuisine. The server and manager were very kind and did whatever they could to save the day. They can't do much when the person who cooks in the kitchen messes up so much that it can't be fixed. Overcooked pasta, extra dry 'out of the box' chicken parmesan, salad with no dressing, a pizza that tasted like stale dry cracker, there's nothing that can be done to save this place. The only good thing they served was Tiramisu. If they want to save this place, they will have to make changes in the kitchen. A huge letdown. read more

We came here for brunch on a Sunday and were able to walk right in. The server was very accommodating for celiac and brought out a menu that indicated what I could order. The GF toast was delicious. We came on a Sunday morning around 10am and was a walk in. Were we seated right away. The place is smaller than I thought. They have booths and tables available. We did the Weekend Brunch that came with a tower of pastries, fruit, and meat & cheese. Which were very delicious. The baby corn and believe they were beets were interesting choice to serve. You also get to choose an appetizer and main entree. I selected the smoked salmon rilettes served with toast. It had a smoke flavor and was more of a salmon mixture that you spread on the toast. This was my favorite and I ate it all. Main entree I had the egg and sausage skillet. It had tomatoes, sausage, and lots of mozzarella cheese which was like the pasta sauce but without the noodles. It was very heavy and greasy. It was also very hot so my over easy eggs turned into well done eggs. Brought this home as leftovers and will just add pasta noodles. For dessert we got more pastries; cannoli, cookies, biscotti, and scones. We were too full from all the food and we took these home too. My friend couldn't have glutton, so the chef was able to accommodate the food allergy. She got chocolate ice cream and fruit for dessert. Was very delicious. The menu had a few dishes that were different from the menu online. Still a good deal for all the food. The Staff were very friendly. The waitress packs up the leftovers for you. Che Figata is one of my favorite places in the Naperville area. My family and I always end up going here to celebrate any occasion and you can never go wrong with the food. Everything is prepared with freshness and the team takes pride in their presentation. We go there so often that the staff knows us and the manager always comes by and will give us a small sample of something as a complimentary gift. The service is great, the ambiance is probably my favorite part and the wine selection is extensive. All of the food has the right amount of flavoring. The deserts are probably my favorite part outside of the pasta. The pizza is perfectly crisp and the salads are extremely fresh. I've been to this restaurant several times, the last being three years ago. Friends chose this place for Christmas Eve so we tried it again. Che Figata is attached to a hotel. It has a large bar area, a curved counter by the chef area and a dining room. We were lucky enough to sit in a curved booth in the dining room. We were greeted right away with water and we're told our server would be with us shortly. However, our server Fernando was gone more than he provided service. The general manager Cherish, though, was fabulous. She came to our table and opened our bottles of wine to breathe as we brought our own. Note, the corkage fee is $25 per bottle. Cherish also gave us attention throughout our meal. I had to ask Fernando for water after he took our bottle to refill and never returned. The staff was so disorganized and upon talking to Cherish learned they were short staffed. The bright spot of our evening, outside of Cherish taking care of us, was some of the delicious food. We started out sharing the burrata & prosciutto pizza and the fritto misto. The pizza was Napoleon style with a thin charred crust and was very good. However, the fritto misto only had one piece of octopus on the plate (darn!), was pretty bland and the garlic aioli was way too thick. For dinner, my husband had the rigatoni zozzana with house sausage, guanciale, tomato, egg yolk, pecorino and parmesan. He loved it. I had the bucatini carbonara. The best carbonara I ever had! It had guanciale, preserved lemon, cheese and an egg yolk on top. Compared to what our friends ordered, our entrees were on the small side. Not consistent in portion size, but damn good. All in all, the food was better than last time, but the disorganized lack of service was pretty bad and took away from our dining experience. Wow! Just blown away by the top notch service! My boyfriend and I don't really go out to fancy places like this one, it was more of a special occasion. From beginning to end the service was exceptional, we felt well taken care of and special even though we weren't the only ones there. I forgot if it was the manager or head chef but someone came out to greet us toward the end of our meals and introduced himself and just wished us to have a great time. He connected so well with us I would come back for the attentiveness of the staff alone! Aside from service, the food was great! I had what the waiter had recommended, it was one of their more popular dishes. All the right flavors were there in the meat sauce! The restaurant was well decorated! we had the option of sitting at a booth or table, we got a comfy booth. The lighting was warm, soft and romantic. Service was excellent from host to server. Portions are all big sizes (and entree prices) so I wasn't able to order much variety. Burrata and caponata - the cheese was so fresh. Loved it with the bread. It could have used a bit more seasoning in the caponata Che Meatballs - meatballs were tender and flavorful but would have preferred them more hot instead of lukewarm. A European flair strikes you the minute you walk in the restaurant and smell the fresh, homemade pasta and wood fired pizza being expertly crafted in an open air kitchen. Our party of 6 shared 2 orders of oven baked fontina cheese with the sweetest cherry tomatoes casually drifting across the top. They served the baked cheese with plenty of grilled bread so you had the perfect amount of both as a great starter. The salads are fresh and big enough for two, and my main course, the buffalo margherita pizza was the best margarita pizza I ever tasted. Although it was a thin crust, there was no lack of flavor with a delicious crunchy crust that was the perfect level of gooeyness in the middle. My only complaint is the service confusion. Went for dinner on Saturday evening having had good experiences there before. The entire night was disappointing. We tried the artichoke appetizer special and it was like we were eating straw. Our server, while admittedly new, offered us the dessert menu before we were served our entrees. Pretty sure he hadn't put in our order until we reminded him we hadn't eaten yet. It was 1.5 hrs from sitting down to getting our meals. We also had to ask for the free bread service. A five course meal with desserts was served and every bit of it was delicious. The steak was the best. The steak was tender and tasty. We decided to check out this restaurant for dinner Friday night and it was truly a wonderful experience! Because the food here was truly an experience! I really enjoyed their juicy half of chicken served in a savory capers sauce with roasted potatoes, the chicken was one of best I've had at any restaurant in a long time! The sauce really complimented the chicken as well and took on another dimension when you squeeze the lemon the fresh lemon juice over it. The salad was so yummy and dessert made the end of dinner perfect! Our waitress was so attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu, her suggestions and service was on point too. The ambiance is very date night friendly and love their seating it was perfect for us having dinner sitting right next to each other. This was my first time to Che Figata. My son just received a promotion at work and I wanted to take him somewhere nice!! We were both blown away with the entire staff, food and ambiance!! We ordered grilled octopus and apple salad for appetizers The octopus was perfectly seasoned and the presentation was awesome with a celery root purée and baby potatoes on a wooden slate. Wowsie!! I also loved the apple salad. I'm totally making it for my Thanksgiving meal this year!! It was so fresh and the thinly sliced tart apples was the perfect crunchy touch!! For entree, I had the lasagna and my son had the spinach pasta. Both homemade pastas melted in our mouths!! It takes so much time to make homemade pasta and I so much appreciated the kitchen doing all the heavy lifting. Lol!! Angel was our server and he was just adorable!! He was professional, friendly and gave us great menu suggestions!! For dessert Angel treated us to a tiramisu for my son's promotion! How sweet!! OMG! Best tiramisu I've had and I'm a baker so I know good desserts!! Also, the head chef stopped by and chatted with us. The manager also stopped by to say hi. All the personal touch made our evening EXTRA special!! We left like VIP's!! Thank you to the entire staff at Che Figata for helping this suburban mom give her "New Yorker" son a TOTAL 5 star downtown experience in our little town of Naperville. Super honest review here. I was surprisingly disappointed. Here's why: If I was rating the service it'd be 5 stars. Juan was our server and what a nice gentleman he was! He took the time to explain the menu in great detail and shared his favorite dishes, checked on us often, and could see the passion he shared in the food he was serving. Now to the food. A 3 star review is pretty harsh, however I think this is merely just constructive feedback, because after all, you go to a restaurant to eat the food, not just review on the service alone. I ordered the vongole e tagliatelle and felt that although their vision of simple ingredients in all dishes is expressed in their menu, I felt as if it was too infused with tomato and what's worse was the pasta was way over cooked. You could tell the pasta was homemade and fresh which is awesome, however, you killed it with over cooked pasta! Wasn't served al dente the way it should be. Now my boyfriend's dish was the salumi pizza. In our opinion, the option for gluten free pizza should be removed from the menu. His crust was undercooked and tasteless. Granted, the pizza options all sounded delicious and regular wood oven is probably way different and better, I wouldn't recommend the gluten free option. If you're going to serve gluten free option, please consider cooking properly. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and was looking forward to it, however, my recent experience here was a hard match to my recent trip to Italy 2 weeks ago, for obvious reasons, but their menu motto of delivering Italy to the table was enticing to try. Deducting a star because the pizza was undercooked in the middle making the end flop & it became really messy. Carbonara was fantastic but a hint too much salt. Our server Ozzy was wonderful and attentive. The ambiance was good, dark and comfortable. The seating was overflowing into the cocktail bar but they mentioned the restaurant was under renovations. My third rating for Che and, sadly, not my best. Like a hot chick that dies her hair purple, Che Figata is still wonderful, just not as much. Ambiance is still perfect. Service is excellent--well-timed attention and excellent advice on the fairly simple menu. The challenge on this night was the food. The meat and cheese board for $27 is a good value. The Octopus, not so much. I think we round one or 2 tiny tentacles in the big dish, and they seemed to be grilled. If Octopus is expensive and hard to find, charge more or take it off the menu. The steak was overcooked. Not really a big issue, unless you pay $51 for a steak, and I did. The tiramasu had chocolate chips on top. Again, not a big deal, but why not make it the simple, classic Italian way. It's Che Figata after all, the the chef did come over to ask about our meal and we explained all of the above. He was cool and gracious about the feedback. I imagine the next meal will be back to 5 stars. read more

This place is modern , clean, and staff does a great job helping by with menu options and ideas to choose from since the entire menu is in Italian. Everything we had was excellent from start to finish. We had: bone marrow charcuterie board with black truffle and other sides like some jam, pan seared scallops with polenta, short rib ravioli, with some whisky. The complimentary bread and butter with some yummy oil was great. You can tell when stuff is made from scratch with extra love and attention is put into it. Loved it! This was our first time there. Very expensive food for very little portions. We were told the gluten-free pasta was like an angel hair pasta but instead we got penne that fell apart when you touched it. We also ordered a gluten free sausage and broccoli pizza. The crust was very thin and over cooked crunchy with no taste. The pizza was covered in tons of hot red pepper including the sausage was full of pepper. Though we like some spicy food, this was overkill and my lips and mouth are still burning long after eating. I watched our server chat in the doorway of the kitchen for 6 minutes (I timed it) and then he disappeared into the back for an additional 10 minutes. Food is meh. I enjoyed my meal at Che Figata. Okay- it was a bit of a journey to find. There's a few steet parking spots right in front but my GPS brought me to the garage which isn't far at all. Che Figata is a restaurant attached to a hotel. Upon walking in you're met with such classy and elegant decor. The way the natural lighting fills the space is truly just stunning. I ordered the Orecchiette & Broccoli Pesto Pasta ($21). I also added chicken to it. It was DELICIOUS. The most amazing pesto pasta I had ever tried. All of the gourmet ingredients really elevated the dish: Broccoli & hazelnut pesto, ramps, ricotta whey, pickled shallots, Cacio de Basco al Tartufo. My friend ordered the same thing and also had the grilled octopus as an appetizer and enjoyed it. For dessert we ordered the Che Sunday ($12) which was Vanilla & chocolate gelato (I subbed for salted caramel which was AMAZING) caramel marshmellows, whipped cream, rosemary caramel candy, amaretto cookies, sprinkles. Other than the salted caramel gelato, it was pretty meh. From the description, I imagined something else for some reason. The homemade marshmellows didn't really taste super special. It was a basic marshmellow. The caramel candy was truly a whole hard caramel plopped on top. The amaretto cookies were great though. Overall we paid for an overly expensive sundae. Service was great. Our waitress was kind and the rest of the staff was just as attentive. When I got my check I was taken aback though- adding the chicken put an additional $6 onto my bill. That put my single bowl of pasta at $27. I definitely have no problem spending my money on good food but I did not expect to pay that much for the portion. While it was absolutely delicious, I don't know that it was worth almost $30 for the single dish. Now the pasta is crafted by hand so I gotta give them that. I know those gourmet ingredients aren't cheap either. But considering that it's a restaurant in the suburbs attached to a hotel, it did take me by surprise. I would expect that price at a restaurant in the city. Regardless, the chefs at Che Figata are masters at their craft and you can taste that in their dishes. Our drinks took 30 minutes- the place was very empty. Food was not the best at all. One person didn't eat hers. We were never asked if everything was OK. Took 30 minutes for our server to come over AFTER we were done. No one else was in the restaurant. Took us 2 hours for an appetizer, 4 meals (1 Took a LOT longer to come out- making everyone else wait). We told our server we have been done for 20-30 minutes and he said nothing. If I was a betting man, I would wager that this place is closed by Christmas. Let me explain. We dined at Che Figata on a Friday night with a 7pm reservations. When we arrived, there were two other tables seated which was odd for the day and time. We were seated in a corner table, waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. After 10 minutes of waiting for a server, I got up and asked if we can order a couple of drinks. I was told, "Yes, let me find your server." Now, this is funny, because we figured out later there was just one server for that night and he was not busy. A few minutes later, our server arrived and took our drink order. 10 minutes from then our drinks arrived. We are now 25 mins in and have drinks. Long story short, service was horrible all night. No attention by the staff, they never refilled waters, bussed plates while we were still eating from those plates. At the end of the night, we had coffee with desert and no ask if we wanted a refill on the coffee. One in our party had a birthday and we asked that they include a candle with the (terrible) olive oil cake so we may celebrate. Desert arrived no candle. After giving a WTF look, the server said sorry, ran back to the kitchen, grabbed the candle, back to the table, stuck it in the cake, and lit it. Moment ruined. Wrapping up. Food. Way over salted, from the fish to the pasta sides. Gross. Our app was over fried, burnt. Service. Terrible. Total bill with tip was over $600 and our party agreed that we would get better food and service at McDonalds. It's time to close the door since no one at Che Figata cares or understands the hospitality business. read more

Let me tell you, it was like being in Italy, which - if you read my other reviews - is our thing. The pace was slower, yes. We waited to be sat, and between courses. We could see our server was busy with other tables. And if you say to yourself, "Well, this pace is exactly like it is in Italy," you relax and become a less impatient American. We had our two small kids with us, and our littlest was a little loud, and when we went to tell her to be quieter, the host said, "No no, that's okay." They were really accomodating to the kids, which again, is exactly like Italy. No kids menu, but they immediately sought out the children's tastes and offered to make a cheese pizza right when we sat down. (You know you gotta order for the kids first to keep them from going nuts waiting!) I loved that. The meal starts with fresh-made, warm, crusty, soft-on-the-inside bread and a sun-dried tomato/EVOO dipping sauce. We ate lots! Then we ordered the cicchetti board with sweet gorgonzola and prosciutto (Gorgo Profi), which was superb, so fresh, though I could have eaten more gorgonzola. The kids loved the honeycomb. My husband and his mom each got the pasta with meatball and sausage (Ragu della Domenica stile Che Figata), and omg. That meatball. That ragu! TO DIE FOR, as our server rightly described. And my father-in-law and I each got the Ravioli Che Figata fatti in casa (I read about it in the Tribune) and let me tell you, it was like diving into an umami sea. With your mouth open. The kids' pizza was honestly the best Italian-style pizza we've ever had, including in Italy! And the open kitchen's super cool. The kids enjoyed seeing the pizzas come out of the big blue-tiled oven. Our server was wonderful, extolling the emphasis on farm-to-table and the quality authentic Italian ingredients. He knew his stuff, and I wish I had gotten his name so that I could give him credit. The wine is expensive. We got a half-carafe of the Sicilian white for $30. When I found out we could get a discount on the wine in the market, I was sort of annoyed, because the markup on restaurant wine is absurd. This is markedly NOT how it is in Italy, wine is so much more affordable in Europe, but then again, it's imported here. My father-in-law got the Manhattan and really liked it. It had Italian cherries. Lastly, we got the gelato trio, which our server customized for us, and it was divine. It comes from the Levazzo next door, which is neat because that also feels like real Italy. It was served artfully and included some of those cherries, too. We all agreed we'd come back. It's pricey, but you're supporting a suburbs-place going all out, city-style, with all the right intentions. The little market with real Italian goods, the sleek decor and open kitchen, paired with phenomenal food and attentive (when they came by) service made our celebratory evening a success.
