If I was a betting man, I would wager that this place is closed by Christmas. Let me explain. We dined at Che Figata on a Friday night with a 7pm reservations. When we arrived, there were two other tables seated which was odd for the day and time. We were seated in a corner table, waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. After 10 minutes of waiting for a server, I got up and asked if we can order a couple of drinks. I was told, "Yes, let me find your server." Now, this is funny, because we figured out later there was just one server for that night and he was not busy. A few minutes later, our server arrived and took our drink order. 10 minutes from then our drinks arrived. We are now 25 mins in and have drinks. Long story short, service was horrible all night. No attention by the staff, they never refilled waters, bussed plates while we were still eating from those plates. At the end of the night, we had coffee with desert and no ask if we wanted a refill on the coffee. One in our party had a birthday and we asked that they include a candle with the (terrible) olive oil cake so we may celebrate. Desert arrived no candle. After giving a WTF look, the server said sorry, ran back to the kitchen, grabbed the candle, back to the table, stuck it in the cake, and lit it. Moment ruined. Wrapping up. Food. Way over salted, from the fish to the pasta sides. Gross. Our app was over fried, burnt. Service. Terrible. Total bill with tip was over $600 and our party agreed that we would get better food and service at McDonalds. It's time to close the door since no one at Che Figata cares or understands the hospitality business. read more

Doctor Jekel and Mr. Hyde thing going on here. I've dined in twice and got take out twice. Dine in, 5 stars both times. Had a middle aged woman both times. She is a true professional server that are hard to come by these days. Been in F&B management my whole life and people like her stand out. The chef is doing big things and the place is BEAUTIFUL!! Take out...meh. I'll just say, their food doesn't travel so well. It just has been a bit a let down both times. My advice. TLDR: Good food and attentive staff but freezing cold room I got the Veal Shank and Risotto. I don't know about the wine selection since I had to drive. I got a lemonade. It came in a huge mason jar which I wasn't expecting but fits better with the theme once I thought about it. The food was delicious. The veal could have had a little extra something, but it was still good. I went with others and their food was also good. Their food like the lamb and short rib pasta had that extra little something and it was divine. So those are two dishes I would definitely recommend. We also got an array of desserts. I usually don't like peanuts but it was candied in such a way and complemented the caramel and the custard. It's didn't seem like something I would like based on a quick read, but after a closer look and a couple questions, I'm glad I had it. Our waitress was really good at figuring out the different tastes of my party and was able to recommend desserts based on what she witnessed. I love that at a restaurant. Its annoying when staff can't even pretend to recommend something, which I have had happen at other restaurants in the area. We sat near the window because it was cold inside but the sun was shining heavily on one side. We thought that section would be warmer. My husband chose this restaurant for his birthday celebration, and it was an excellent decision. This was our second visit and it definitely will not be the last. I love the eclectic menu - the lobster ravioli and branzino are our favorites so far, and we definitely want to try the pizza. While it's more of an upscale menu, the setting is warm and inviting and has outdoor seating on a quiet street. The employees are friendly and attentive. Che Figata - Meat and cheese board - Italian Near Me - Naperville, Illinois

While looking for cool new restaurants in the Naperville area, I came across Che Figata's menu and it gave me a flashback to our trip to Rome with classic Roman pastas like cacio e pepe and Roman style pizza. Ambiance: You would have never guessed this was a hotel restaurant just from the pictures online. I had no clue this was the new restaurant they were building inside Hotel Arista until we got there. It had that restaurant and fresh market combination going on, kind of like Beatrix in the city. Overall, Che was another one of those suburban restaurants that had a city vibe. I liked how the layout just a generic grid of tables, but rather a mix of tables, booths, counter seats overlooking the open kitchen, and then even a communal counter in the center of the dining area. Food: Honestly, the pictures of the free bread and pizzas were enough to draw me in haha. We went for an early lunch, so we didn't wanna go too hard and kill the rest of the day in a food coma. House bread - From the pictures, I was really looking forward to the free bread. It looked like a plate of pepper, olive oil, parmesan cheese, and what I thought was a tomato or vodka sauce element. I dove right in and mixed everything together, but was blind-sided by the super tangy, vinegar-y flavor. They went a little heavy on the balsamic, and it overpowered the sauce a little bit. It was alright, just not the savory dipping sauce I was expecting. Il Misto della Domenica - This was basically an open-faced steak and cheese sandwich, but it was effing good. The meat was ultra tender, and the au jus was soaked into each piece of the bread. Then it was topped with a layer of cheese that was just oozing down the edges. I easily could've eaten 3 of them. Lardo e salame Pizza - Che Figata straight up knows how to make a pizza. You could see the guys in the open kitchen popping them into the brick oven, and this crust did not disappoint. It was pretty much perfect: thick and crispy on the outside, soft and warm in the middle, decorated with light and airy bubbles, and had a slight char to it. The cheese, sauce, and salami were all on point as well. I thought portions could've been bigger, but you can't argue with the quality of the dish. Lasagna di 16 piani - We were on the fence between the lasagna and the cacio e pepe, and the lasagna ultimately won out because it looked so hearty and saucy. No regrets here. This was just straight up delicious. I don't even wanna know how much parmesan, ricotta, and mozzarella were in here because it was damn cheesy and I absolutely loved it. My fiance and I were splitting everything, and it took all my control to not keep going at it and down the whole thing myself. Tiramisu - This was an interesting take on tiramisu. Instead of one piece of tiramisu, it came with 6 little bite-sized cubes. Taste-wise it was almost identical to regular tiramisu, with the addition of hardened chocolate bottom that kept everything together. Although it was probably less food than a normal portion, I was actually sort've glad it was just a small little sweet bite at the end instead of another heavy course. Overall, Che Figata is another solid spot in the burbs. It's a little pricey for the portion size, but the quality of the ingredients and food are evident. read more

It was our 10 year anniversary and we had our reception at Hotel Arista, so my husband and I thought it would be fun to visit the hotel for a drink and eat at the accompanying Che Figata. We were both excited but overall food was meh across the board. Our appetizer was burrata with toast and some of the toast was burnt black. Not charred, because I appreciate a good char, but literally just burnt and impossible to bite through. We also ordered the mortadella pizza, which came out with prosciutto instead of mortadella, so we inquired about it. The waiter seemed confused so left to clarify with the kitchen and came back and said they didn't have "a lot of mortadella so they put some on the pizza but replaced the rest with prosciutto." Here's the thing. There was literally zero mortadella on there, so either he or the kitchen lied, but also- I wouldn't have ordered the pizza if it came with prosciutto because I am not a fan and neither is my husband. We aren't the type to complain for fear of our food getting spit on (lol) so I didn't say anything but to be honest after the waiter found out from the kitchen that the mortadella was replaced with prosciutto, I felt he should have definitely made the move to remove the item from our bill. Lastly were our entrees- I ordered fettuccini with clams which had an overly sweet flavor that did not match what I expected a clam pasta dish to taste like, so was disappointed and barely ate the pasta. We gave Che Figata two more tries this past month. First time the Bolognese and Lasagna were to die for--so good, perfectly seasoned. Then we came back two weeks later, ordered the same dishes, and Bolognese tasted very salty, and the Lasagna was under-seasoned and very plain. Who messes up lasagna? This food is so unpredictable here! I will say when I returned the Bolognese, it came back the second time perfectly flavoured. In the meantime, they asked me if I wanted another glass of wine, and I had a 10 min wait ahead of me, so I did order one, thinking it may be on the house but no such luck. I think what we like the best about this restaurant is it's not very busy. However, right now, they're remodelling the dining room, so everything is happening in the bar area. Thus, that positive is gone for a while. We dined on a Friday night, and it was pretty busy in the bar/now also dining area. The service is excellent. We weren't hungry but we ended up ordering a few appetizers. All of which were wonderful! The flavor of each was unique and delicious. Staying at the hotel next door, I stopped at Che Figata for dinner numerous nights. The atmosphere is fresh and authentic, with an open kitchen area behind the bar. There were fresh herbs growing along the wall and fresh cheese and pasta were being cut right behind the bar. The complimentary bread and oil they serve was delicious and a great start to the meal. I loved the Italian wedding soup, which was the perfect amount of food with a salad. I also had the pizza one night which was served piping hot, right from the wood-fire oven. I thought the pizza was a bit pricey for the size but tasty nonetheless. My last night I went with a pasta dish, as they make their pasta onsite. The 16-layer lasagna was delicious and unique, as I ordered it with a white bolognese sauce. The service was great each time I was there, and the food was consistently scrumptious. read more

This place doesn't look like much from the outside. It's a storefront in a corporate park. And then you walk in, and it looks like an upscale Panera. But don't judge this book by its cover. This place is outstanding! Simple elegance. Delicious food. Five star service. The menu isn't your generic pasta spread that you can get anywhere, and they put the effort into doing it all exactly right, rather than making it look like some cheese ball stereotype that we think is right out of the Godfather. (But don't kid yourself, you know those guys, real and fictional are typically about simple and good too.) It's not dark, or cramped, or covered in burgundy velvet. It's open, airy, clean, and modern. I brought my wife in for our 25th Anniversary because we both wanted to try the place, and the menu looked cool. When I walked in, I thought it might be too casual for a big date, but I was wrong. The booths are cozy. Sit side-by-side, facing the modern open kitchen, seeing the brick ovens, food being prepared by hand, and the wine being opened. The wine list was ample and the waiter was knowledgeable and helpful. The table for two was large enough for lots of plates, so lots of flavors. Oh, and their house-special Manhattan is worth skipping the wine. The food was on point in every way. And again with interesting twists on traditional italian dishes of all varieties. Of course pasta (they had a whole list of pizzas too but we didn't look at those), veal, seafood, beef, pork, chicken... There were so many tempting choices. I was trying to decide between a couple of seafood pasta options, but couldn't, so I took a left-turn and had the 24-hour veal ossobuco over polenta. How do you say no to that? Falling apart at the touch of my fork. So juicy and flavorful. And the dessert menu is also varied and unique. It was a very good experience, and an outstanding meal. And the "Italy to Table" concept is cool too. Not everything is local... lots of herbs and such (and probably the tomatoes) off the boat, and seafood flown-in, but all of the meats are from specified regional producers here. read more

They refuse to let us utilize the private dining menu for the evening even tho it's on their website. False advertising and very deceptive bait and switch practice. Che Figata is not your typical hotel restaurant. Normally I turn my nose up at hotel restaurants, but I'm so glad I took the plunge and tried this one. I have had the pleasure of dining here for both lunch and dinner. They have some good lunch specials in the twenty dollar range which is a good deal for this type of restaurant. I've had both the chicken salad and the meatball sandwich and both are highly recommended. For dinner I had the Carne Bovina al Barolo (tenderloin for two). It came nice and bloody (rare) which is the way I like it. If you have a large appetite I recommend splurging and getting it all for yourself. It is about 20oz of meat so if you get salad and appetizers you could stretch it for two people. A pantry area is also featured where they sell olive oil, vinegar, pasta, spreads, and sandwiches to go. read more

Che Figata truly lived up to its name being "cool" or "awesome" beyond expectation! Obviously during the first week of operation you need to cut some slack as kinks get worked out. However the dining experience was outstanding! The ambiance is very modern but polished. The market and bar are inviting but not as much as is the open kitchen where you can watch various plates being created and Roman style pizzas tossed. For only being open 4 days I was extremely impressed with the knowledgeable service which was attentive without being stifling! Plates were all unique presented with a harmonious symphony of flavors and colors that were well balanced. Every dish was better than the next with the exception of the olive oil cake which was slightly dry. Must try dishes included the bone marrow cicchetto, the grilled snap pea cicchetto, the Bucatini pasta with guanciale, and the 24 hour (and 30 minute) Ossobuco! Chef Grimes was a true gentleman and spent some substantial time at our table talking about his vision for the restaurant and explaining our dishes. I lived in Italy for 5 years and have worked in the hospitality industry for 1.5 years and must say this place delivers modern, authentic Italian cuisine as well as any suburban restaurant and rivals many city spots as well! The food was absolutely spectacular! My food was made so well and seasoned just how I like it. I usually can't finish a pasta dish alone, but I did here. It was decadent, well-paired, perfectly seasoned, and heavenly. The carbonara had the perfect combination of ingredients: the pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauce had just the right combinations, the egg added a luscious texture, the pancetta was so crispy, and the peas added a gorgeous brightness. I cannot speak more highly of this place; my family, who tends to be picky about Italian food, was already planning our next visit. We all drove at least 20 minutes, and it was well worth it. Went here for lunch with a friend. We were the only ones in the restaurant and ate on the patio. We ordered several dishes, one being the Che Meatballs made of beef and pork. When the meatballs arrived at the table we cut them open and they were complete raw in the middle. We sent them back and asked for them to be cooked through. The server came back and told us the chef said this is how they are suppose to be cooked. We again asked for them to be cooked through. My fiancé and I made a reservation a few nights ago. We really needed a nice night out together. When we walked in, the atmosphere was immediately warm and inviting. The warm lighting and candles on the tables definitely set the mood for the night. We ordered the octopus and the Italian Wedding Soup to start and it was fantastic. For our main course, we ordered the Potato Gnocchi and the 16 Layer Lasagna and to finish I ordered the Gelato and he ordered the Affogato. There wasn't a bite I didn't love. First visit today. Beautiful decor. Came highly recommended so planned a lunch here accordingly. Food was very good. Definitely homemade pasta and sauce. Bread was delicious too. The downside was the service. Virtually non-existent. Got seated and then left on our own for over 10 minutes. Had to stand up and find the staff to come and take our order. Did I mention there were only two of us in the party, so not exactly overwhelming to visit and take our orders. Following taking our order, the food came timely and was very good. Upon finishing our meals the wait staff again was non existent. I had to wave some one down to get a take home box and the two checks we asked for when ordering. Received the box and one check. I told the waiter we asked for 2 checks. He took it away and complied with 2 checks. Mind you we arrived at 11:15 and there weren't any other patrons at the time. Upon leaving there were only two other small parties at 12:30. Not sure why we had this poor service all the way around today as the hostess forgot about us, then the gal that took our order (clearly not wait staff but potentially the manager and then the waiter and a side kick as maybe a trainer or trainee. I went in for a simple lunch and walked away from an experience, maybe even a religious experience. The best seat in the house is the round open bar table, but it's not for liquor,although you can order it there. It's to take in the open kitchen experience. You can watch as master chef's make fresh pasta from scratch, preparing charcuterie boards, open flames from the grill and brick oven pizza maker. Chef's who love what they do and it shows in the quality of the food. Did you ask for basil on your pasta, give the chef a minute and they will cut it for you from their live garden. Now that's fresh! In here, your lunch is their passion and well worth it. Just freaking amazing! read more

Went here for the first time to celebrate my hubby's bday - and we loved it. When you sit down, you will get freshly baked bread and olive oil mixed with a tomato vinegar sauce. The bread is fantastic- crunchy crust and a nice soft middle. While I love vinegar, it was a bit strong for me- so I would recommend making sure you get more olive oil on your bread than just the tomato vinegar. Here's what we ordered for our meal: - 'nduja suppli- there were 3 large suppli in our order. Their suppli is essentially arrancini - fried rice balls- but with more cheese than I'm used to. Oh, and stuffed with 'nduja which is a great, tasty sausage. Served on the side is cheese fondue- in case the cheese inside the suppli wasn't enough. Which, it was - but we still ate the extra cheese too. (I would highly recommend dipping the complimentary bread into this, too). This was my favorite thing we ordered. - polente ragu - my husband saw this polenta board and had to have it. They serve an entire meatball (maybe more) sliced up into four pieces, and then serve that with a ragu sauce (there were chunks of other delicious meat) on top of polenta. There were also 2 different mushroom sides - I think both pickled mushrooms- and an onion marmalade. This dish was tasty. My husband loved it, and I thought it was good. I would be fine getting it again but would probably rather try other things first. - bufalona pizza - this was super tasty. We were very full after our bread & appetizers, so this was a perfect sized pizza. It's probably a little small if you were to want to eat it for your full meal. It has caviar on it, and I'm currently unable to eat caviar, so the kitchen was able to make half with caviar and half without. I really enjoyed my half without the caviar. My husband said the caviar was good but pretty mild, so I didn't feel like I missed much. I would order this again. - grilled artichoke slaw - ok, I tried getting this so we could have one healthy element to our dinner. It ended up being very different from what I expected; it had some sort of creamy sauce, and had apples in it. I didn't taste any grilled artichoke flavor. While it was fine, I only took one or two bites and decided to use the room left in my stomach for the other things we ordered. I would pass on this next time. Other quick items: - service was great! We really enjoyed our waiter. - decor is nice - we liked it! Overall this place was great. We left totally full and filled with carbs and cheese. No complaints. Looked forward to trying this "authentic" Italian restaurant as we are Italian. Pleasantly surprised by $10 Pasta Thursdays. Overall food was delicious but too-o-o spicy Ordered their Caesar salad-three types of greens. Even that had a chili oil on it. Then we ordered spaghetti with clams and tagliatelle with blue crab. The spaghetti with clams was pretty spicy but the tagliatelle with crabs was so spicy we couldn't eat it. The tomato sauce was light and delicious but was overpowered by cayenne (?) Authentic Italian food is NOT spicy unless it is Diavolo or Arrabiata sauce and these were not. The was no description of the dish or indication it is a spicy dish on the $10 Pasta menu. I would think that Che Figata caters to an upscale, older clientele who are not as fond of, or expecting highly spicy Italian dishes. Service was attentive and they offered a side dish of pasta to remedy the situation. Will return but question the server ad infintum about the spiciness of the dish. read more

This is a great local high end place for lunch or dinner. Parking is kinda tricky unless you can get into one of the parallel parking spots right out front. They have a patio but I don't know if it's open. We had bread and a cheese plate for the appetizer- very delicious! I ordered the cacio e pepe. It was very tasty but honestly, too spicy! Sounds weird for something that is basically just pasta and cheese, but it had a ton of peppercorn and maybe chili flakes. I had some of the broccolini and cheese polenta sides and both were amazing. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. For dessert, we got gelato. It comes with three scoops and you can mix and match flavors. The four of us shared one- 3 scoop gelato dessert. Bruschetta was one piece of bread which was over toasted about 4 1/2 inches across and not cut for sharing Although this was on the menu as an appetizer for sharing. The grilled octopus contained about a quarter of a cup of the meat but then they threw in a couple pieces of potato some side tomato sauce and some beans for the price of $20. For my meal I ordered orchietta with broccoli. So I am brought a lukewarm dish and the server explains they have no broccoli would I like a different side vegetable. That question should've been asked before I was served a meal and seriously in the town of Naperville you can't find a grocery store that sells broccoli??
