Now Gia Mia might just be the best and most closest meal I've had to real Italian food. I felt like I was back in the south of Italy. The ambiance is nice and it's a large space. The customer service was great. The food is what will keep you coming back. I had the lunch special with my friend and settled on the salad and a Paccheri Vodka pasta. I almost ordered a full portion of the pasta to go it was so good! I was truly blown away. I felt full yet not sluggish. I still had room for dessert and tried the butterscotch bread pudding. Came back because we were craving the butternut squash risotto, and we had to send it back :(. Even the pictures can show the difference, they changed the recipe and it tasted like eating roses. No thank you! Please go back to the OG. On the plus side, we switched it with the chicken parm....and was happy. The basil pesto sauce has a strong basil punch and I liked it, my partner did not. Al fresco season in downtown Wheaton is back and best believe Gia Mia is part of it! A group of 5 of us dined in for dinner and for a weekday outing this place was BUSY. The first person to arrive opted to sit indoors which is fine! We were seated at a table across from the bar. The area itself felt tight but thankfully the table seating itself was spacious enough for us. Service throughout was decent. Everything was timed out well and we didn't have any long waits in between. I got the paccheri vodka pasta and it was good! I've had this dish at the downers grove location so I was expecting the sauce to be more saucey. From here it was on the thinner side and the amount of sauce given was good enough. Gia Mia is hands down the best restaurant in Wheaton. Food is always excellent, staff friendly but efficient and the atmosphere is casual but cozy. We go here often. It's our favorite. Visited this week for my birthday. We had the Prosciutto and Fig Bruschetta as an appetizer. It was perfectly grilled bread with fig jam, ricotta, and Prosciutto with a balsamic glaze. The ricotta and Prosciutto are so simple but such high quality - excellent. I had the Scottish Salmon and my husband had the Chicken Piccata. The salmon is served in a light sauce over farro with asparagus and baby squash. And if you like briny capers, you will love the Chicken. We finished with the Tiramisu. First time at Gia Mia! Greeted immediately but the restaurant was super busy so there was a 10 minute wait. For our appetizers we got the Zucchini Fries which were fire, Ricotta + Honeycomb was delicious too, the Spinach + Artichoke Fonduta had a bit too much spinach but still pretty good. This is a lovely Italian restaurant with great menu options. I came here with a friend and it was definitely an excellent choice. We really enjoyed the food and the relaxing atmosphere. We ordered the prosciutto and burrata and the zucchini fries for our appetizers. Both were amazing. The burrata was perfect and came with delicious prosciutto slices and pizza bread. We had reservations and were quickly seated. the service was quickly, however our server did not seem to put all too much effort into being friendly and only spoke to us when we placed our order. I ordered the Scottish Salmon. The salmon was salmon--it was decent but nothing special. It was simply salmon over farro with lemon. I would not go out of my way to go to Gia Mia and get it again. My friends ordered vodka pasta and pizza. The vodka pasta lacked vodka sauce and were coated very thinly. It almost seemed like the sauce evaporated off of the plate. The pizza also wasn't very flavorful. My friends liked their food, but did not think it was anything special either. Overall, the food wasn't bad by any means, but nothing special and I do not think I would go out of my way to get it again. read more

It did take a little bit to get our check, but I saw our server had tables at the front and back of the restaurant, and she was constantly moving. I've been wanting to try Gia Mia for a while and it did not disappoint! I made a reservation for a Saturday night which I recommend because it fills up on weekends for sure. I thought we were going for Restaurant Week, but be aware they stagger RW dates across their 4 locations so Wheaton had already stopped. I started with a pomegranate collins type drink which was ok - mostly lemon and not as fruity as I wanted it to be. We ended up ordering a few apps and a pizza and a pasta to split, and that was the perfect amount for three people! We started with the eggplant parm, shrimp polenta and arancini. The eggplant was well cooked and not soggy and the fennel was a really nice touch! The shrimp was also really good as was the arancini. They are much smaller than a normal arancini but you get 6 of them. We got the pasta gia and the paesano pizza which I would get again! Really good flavors and you can tell the crust and pasta is homemade. We split the chocolate cake and ricotta cheesecake which were really rich and delicious. I'm normally not a cheesecake person because I don't love the tanginess of cream cheese, so the ricotta really made a difference for me! I saw lots of servers walking around with the paccheri vodka so I definitely want to try that next time! read more

We come to Gia Mia all the time and usually have a great experience, but I was really disappointed with the pricing and service on my recent visit. I ordered the Balsamic Chicken Salad and asked to substitute the Romano chicken instead of the grilled chicken. I was surprised to see a $7 upcharge for this change -- especially since the salad with Romano chicken on the menu is listed at the same price. In the past, the restaurant confirmed that this was a mistake and that it should only be a $2 upcharge, not $7. When I brought it up this time, the manager was very rude and dismissive instead of trying to clarify or make it right, which was really disappointing given how often we come here. I truly hope management reviews both the pricing and how customer concerns are handled, because we've always loved this restaurant and would like to keep coming back. read more

Gluten Free Pizza good, gluten free pasta dishes I would deter from. We went there at 9pm (close at 10pm) and even though they were a halfway full restaurant they seemed to be done. They brought out our pasta dishes in 2-3 minutes which would've been impressive IF they pulled it off. The regular vodka was fine according to my husband, but the gluten free vodka had ZERO flavor and as you can see lacked ingredients... I will still try to come back for pizza, especially half priced Monday pizzas but definitely won't be trying anything else. Which is sad. read more

My parents and I had dinner recently at the Naperville location of Gia Mia and enjoyed it very much, so while in downtown Wheaton we decided to have lunch at this location. It's hard to beat their lunch special: a small salad and personal-sized pizza (you can choose from an assortment of each) for $13. I liked the earthiness of the wild mushroom pizza but the surprise hit was the Italian farm salad; wasn't sure how I would feel about cauliflower on a salad but it was quite delicious. what a great evening, my partner and I met up with a friend on Tuesday night we made 5:15 reservations . Arrived a few minutes early got seated immediately menus and water within in minutes of sitting down Ordered the Zucchini Fries with a dipping sauce they were served almost as fast as our drinks. The ZF's were hot fresh and delicious a little after getting the ZF's we placed our dinner orders they came pretty fast again all the food 2 pasta dishes and the medallions of beef were served hot fresh and again we all finished our plates. Like everything else now days the price seemed high but what isn't costing a lot now. The waitstaff was super good, fast came and checked in with us every so often. We came in to Gia Mia back in January and that time we rated it a2-3 stars but today even on a very busy Tuesday dinner time a complete turn around. The food is good, and friendly to people with dietary restrictions. I wish they had a caprese salad, though. Isn't that a staple of Italian restaurants? The service is great for curbside pickup. You just pull up in the alley behind them, call them, and they will put the food right in your car's trunk. The ambiance is good, but it can get very crowded and noisy on Friday and Saturday evenings. While on a business trip, I consulted Yelp to find an Italian eatery for dinner. This location had it all! We easily located a place to part near the restaurant. The staff was friendly and we were quickly seated in the beautiful tent in the street. This was a perfect location to enjoy the area and great weather. The waitress shared the specials and recommended favorites. The menu offered so many choices it was hard to choose. I choose my meal based on photos shared on yelp. This was my first time here and probably my last honestly walking in I did not feel very welcomed. It was kind of an uppity atmosphere. If I'm walking in there, I can afford to eat there too I only went in there because they had a half pizza special and everybody says they're so great and I wanted to try it Ordered the margarita they told me 15 to 20 minutes. They also would not take cash for my food. I had to use a card which I didn't want to do, I was also told this very snottily. I didn't know that you could look down on somebody that wanted to pay cash That was straight two first was the attitude walking in second was the no cash payment I went out to my car and I came back in 15 minutes. The pizza box was not even warm. at that point if it took 15 to 20 it should have at least been warm and it was not. The pizza wasn't good at all even with reheating it. I don't even think it was worth the eight dollars I paid that's just my opinion I tried it. It's not the place for me. The food is not that great. I am glad I did not pay full price for this. I would have been very upset. I've had frozen pizzas that are better. I also see that other people got their food cold for takeout as well. If I'm paying for food I expect it to be served hot like when I order it Also, the pizza had maybe three pieces of basil on it that were smaller than the size of your fingernail if I wanted to cook it at home, I would've made food homemade Come to think of it my own homemade pizza tastes better anyway so next time I'll just do that read more

We ordered two pizzas, a salad and calamari. See attached photos of food quality- it was so disappointing. I believe we received maybe 8 total calamari pieces, which were all very low quality. The Quattro formaggio pizza was a sad excuse for any "specialty pizza" and contained about 1 dollop of tiny ricotta and pretty much just plain cheese elsewhere. The Bruno pizza was better of the two but pretty sure we were missing a topping as well. Food was also cold upon pickup. Very disappointed and will not be getting takeout again. read more

Got the cauliflower and zucchini apps to share with 4 people and they were delicious! For dinner my husband and I shared the rocket man pizza and the pesto pasta. WOW. We were both very full and barely made it through. The pesto pasta was a little soupy but so delicious and full of flavor I didn't mind too much. So many good vegetarian options on the menu, big fan.
