Sparkling wine as we wait

My wife and I decided to have our 31st anniversary dinner here and we're so glad we did. We were able to sit outside and enjoy a lovely evening. It started to rain at the end, but the staff had already coordinated tables inside for everybody. So despite a giant storm, everyone got to enjoy their dinners. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food could not have been any better. And it's clear that the team cares about their customers.

They used to have a location in Northfield Illinois decades ago, and this is where I used to go. Since they shut that down, I have never been to the one in Naperville. Came on a random Monday night and luckily I made reservations because even for a Monday night where there is no holiday there was actually quite a few people having dinner here. However, the outdoor space as well as a private event space were all empty. We had an early seating at 5 PM or 530 and ordered quite a few dishes as you can tell from the pictures there were three of us. We were smart to order the paella early because it does take up to 45 minutes for them to cook it. Something that was a relief for one of the people in my party was that they liked that they did not burn or overly toast the rice on the paella. The other benefit of the paella was that it was definitely full of filling. There was no hunting for the seafood or for the chicken, which was great. All the tapas that we ordered were absolutely fantastic and delicious!!! Everything came out very quickly and very fresh and hot. Even the desserts were so delicious. We had to order two different ones despite all the food we had very minimal leftovers of the paella and one tapas and Everything else got cleaned up. The only initial concerns frankly wore that when we arrived, despite being very empty service was quite slow. And then only to learn that our waitress actually had over six tables assigned to her, which frankly I think is too much. She was very hospitable, personable, and perky and friendly. So not her fault that service was slow. It was great that they have a huge parking lot right next-door although I am sure during summer it gets completely packed. I will definitely be coming back here and although it is further away than my usual spot, this was definitely worth the drive.

We have been coming here for almost a decade now. We have never been disappointed. Our main goal is to maintain an even ratio of hot and cold plates while balancing it with their refreshing red sangria. Reservations are a must, and seating outside is the best experience. You have to try inside at least once, but we always prefer outside on a summer's night. We continue to return year after year to see what new items they add to the menu.

We were guest at a hosted day of love by our husbands! This place is beautiful inside and out and a hidden gem ! There was a huge party of us but staff did a great job accommodating! The menu contains alot of tapas to share and enjoy ! I love the dessert!

Meson Sabika is in a beautiful old mansion. The charm of the property is breathtaking and an experience in itself. We were quickly seated upon arrival. The restaurant has multiple rooms where people can dine and we're in a smaller room which I enjoyed. The menu is extensive even for a tapas style restaurant. There were so many options to try and very hard to narrow down our choices. They also have several types of paella on the menu which for me was a must try. We did order one and it takes about 30-45 minutes for preparation so if it is something that you want you have to order it fairly quickly. Everything we tried had a great flavors. My favorite was the bacon wrapped dates and the vegetarian paella. This would be a great date night, girls outing, rehearsal dinner or dinner spot. I truly enjoyed the experience and look forward to going back.

Insanely overrated. So the place is beautiful - it's a giant mansion from the 1800s (?!) repurposed as a restaurant. We arrived on a warm Tuesday night in September and chose to sit outside. Our server, Kayla, was really great. Very friendly and knowledgeable. But the food? Woof. You begin with complementary bread, but it's cold and didn't taste fresh. Datiles con Tocino (Bacon-wrapped dates) - Eh, these were okay. I would have preferred if the bacon were crispier and there were some caramelization. The dates were mushy. Solomillos a la Plancha (beef tenderloin) - Remarkably flavorless. How do you do tenderloin without aiming for the Maillard reaction? These were overcooked. The small scoop of mashed potatoes was cold. Champiñones Rellenos (mushroom caps filled with spinach and cheese) - Probably the best thing we ate. I wish the tomato basil sauce had more acidity. Col de Brusela (Sauteed shredded Brussels sprouts) - Truly revolting. It tasted like they just boiled Brussels sprouts and melted cheese on top. The Serrano ham was cut weirdly thick - In Spain this is basically shaved so it melts in your mouth. I think they just got ham from Jewel or whatever. I have been to Spain 10 times. I've eaten plenty of tapas. All of these are lost in translation. It all has the taste of mass-produced cafeteria food. Remarkably disappointing. They also served up the worst caipirinha I've ever had. It's a shame that a place so lovely with such wonderful servers misses the mark on the entire menu.

How have a missed out on this amazing restaurant in my old stomping grounds?! What an absolutely beautiful place. Located in an old mansion, the landscaping alone is enough for a instagram photoshoot. As we were guided to our table, I couldn't help but to wonder what time has reveled to the surrounding old walls and curving staircase. It's hard to take it all in on your first visit. We were led to the garden oasis and seated right by a stone fountain. As I often say, the better the restaurant, the shorter the review - mostly because if it's highly recommended you don't need every detail. Go! Enjoy! To give you the highlights: my favorite drink offering was the sangria flight. I can't wait to return on a hot day to enjoy the various flavors. Favorite food we orders included the scallops (they were HUGE) and the empanada. I will return if not just for those dang empanadas! We had to end with an espresso martini and that was the cherry on top. Absolutely beautiful atmosphere, welcoming staff, wonderful and attentive server. Everything during our experience was on par.

Our 20th anniversary was spent at our favorite restaurant, and as always everything was amazing from the atmosphere to the staff to the food they always outdo themselves.

We probably will not be returning to this place but if we do it will NOT going to be on a Saturday evening. It was so so so loud my wife and I could hardly talk to each other. This place was really busy and some smaller rooms were more quiet. So I guess we weren't that lucky as others. The food was so so The sangria seemed like cheap wine with leftover booze stay away from it. The service was so so When you pay $180 for a dinner for two you expect something better.

Champinones rellenos - this was a good veggie app Poncho de solomillo - this was good and flavorful Datiles con Ticino - this was amazing. Gambas a la plancha - this was okay Albondigas con almendras -this was okay Vieiras albarino - this was okay Overall I was disappointed in the seafood. Next time I think we will just stick to the meats

I recently discovered Meson Sabika and already regret not finding this gem sooner. A few evenings ago my girlfriends and I enjoyed a delightful dinner on the patio. The weather was perfect--no bugs--and live music added to the magic. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout. We shared an array of tapas: Quesos Españoles, Champiñones Rellenos, Pincho de Pollo, Dátiles con Tocino, Pulpo con Salsa Verde, and Pincho de Solomillo. The stuffed dates and beef skewers were the standouts. For dessert we split the chocolate cake and fried banana, both of which were outstanding. I'm deducting one star only because my Aperol Spritz arrived flat, and the restaurant had no Prosecco to perk it up. Otherwise, Meson Sabika offers beautiful grounds, delicious food, and an enchanting atmosphere. I can't wait to return!

We went to celebrate a birthday. Even though we had reservations, we still had to wait about half an hour. It was super busy. We tried a few sangrias, splitting pitchers with the table, all were fantastic! The food and semi private room we were in were amazing! There a reason they're so busy! Everything was delicious, I can't wait to go back to celebrate something else, the staff was spectacular, and all the dishes were very well done.

We had valentine's dinner at Meson and this was the first time they had a prix fixe menu - $129 pp for a 4 course meal. Cold tapas followed by hot tapas, followed by main course - lobster tail, filet, mushrooms and mashed potatoes, and a heart shaped mousse dessert. The lobster was delicious and my favorite part of the meal. For me, it was too beef heavy and I missed the garlic potato salad. Didn't care for the dessert much, the mousse was on top of a raspberry pound cake which tasted dried out to me. I think they tried the prix fixe approach to serve more people with more efficiency, but in my opinion, I didn't like it nearly as much as the regular menu and also though it wasn't a great value for the money. Still, love the place overall and hope they revert to the previous style. Not everything should be about making a few extra bucks - particularly when it means sacrificing the things long-standing customers enjoy.

Meson Sabika Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Meson Sabika

Are the prices for tapas the same for lunch and dinner?

Is it wheelchair accessible?

There is a ramp to the front door and first floor of the dining room. I recommend asking for seating on the first floor since I don’t believe there’s an elevator to access the second floor.

Is their AYCE Sunday Brunch still available? Dont see the menu on their website anymore.

Not yet, last I heard it would be next year at the earliest. Covid stuff I guess

Where is best the best table to sit at for celebrating an anniversary?

When I went years ago they had this smoking section out by the bar...just a few tables out there. Not sure if it's still a smoking section, but it is more secluded than most the tables, and surely a little more quiet.

Jacket and tie or business casual?

Whatever suits your fancy. It is a nicer restaurant so you may feel underdressed in jeans and a shirt, but honestly, I've seen people in casual wear. I tell my family to wear their "Sunday best" clothes when we dine at Meson Sabika

Would you recommend the paella?

Absolutely! I've only had it as part of their Sunday brunch so ordering off the menu involves wait time for preparation.

Once inside we were able to get a table, but found a better location to get drinks and food ordered at the bar. The beer I got was the Vox. It's $7 for a pint. This is a pilsner that's real smooth. She got the Midnight Rider, a sour ale. The other beer we got was the West Coast Wizard, an IPA. All were good. They have a pretty big food menu. It's about $16 for a sausage entree. You can substitute a veggie sausage. A few flavors to choose from, but most of these come with bacon. The Nurnberger Bratwurst is topped with mustard and sauerkraut. Makes sense getting that one and substituting it with the veggie sausage of course. They also often have live music. Hearing great things about it and these are true apparently. It's closed Mondays. There's tons of beers as well as sausages that can be made for vegetarians.

Le P'tit was the first to pop up on my feed and immediately caught my attention due to its unique menu, historic building, and secluded outdoor oasis for the fair weather seasons. When asked where I wanted to have dinner on my birthday, the answer was easy, L'ptit! We were greeted by the Chef Chopra outside, who welcomed us and asked us to choose the seat that suited us best in or outdoors. We chose a seat outside as it seemed most guests were enjoying the nice weather in the garden. Chef Chopra introduced himself and explained the complimentary montadito, and presented the current specials. We loved that he took time to ask what brought us in, and when we said that we were building a new home in Bartlett only minutes away, he shared that although he has been all over the world he always misses good old Bartlett, IL. This is the kind of connection and service you won't find at franchise restaurants! We enjoyed cocktails, myself a dirty tini with bleu cheese stuffed olives, and my husband the traditional old fashioned and the P'tit old fashioned - both of which he enjoyed. We ordered the hummus for an appetizer - my husband never orders humus. Not a drop was left. It was so flavorful, and since I am intolerant to gluten we loved that it was served with cucumber "chips". We will definitely order this again! Our entrees were both specials - mine the steak and shrimp tower and my husband's the Birria. We could t decide whose was better. The shrimp and steak were so flavorful and beautifully cooked, and the beef and consommé of my husband's was out of this world. My takeaways from Le P'tit: We will be there - regularly, before we move into our home, and after! Have a cocktail, they are fabulous. Talk to Chef Chopra any chance you get. He has seen the world and loves to see his guests enjoying his menu and the atmosphere of his establishment. This is what supporting local is about! Enjoy your time at Le P'tit. Savor. Take a moment to slow down, disconnect from the outside and connect with the ones around you and enjoy the wonderfully and thoughtfully prepared dishes on the menu. We can't wait to be back!

The venue was very nice at the top of a hotel with a very nice view of Naperville and the Riverwalk. Let's start with my favorite dishes. BIEN HERE BEFORE As…read morepart of the Bien Trucha restaurant family, Quiubo serves some familiar flavors in downtown Naperville. The Water St area has a great variety of restaurants including Vasili's (modern Greek), Blue Sake (sushi), SixtyFour Wine Bar and Quiubo (modern Mexican).  Technically I ate from here once - takeout during covid - but it was so long ago it might as well not count.  Most recently, my wife and I came here for dinner on a Friday in late June and sat outside. The sangria ($14) was strong, I appreciated the extra touches like apple bitters and a float of bourbon.  My wife loved the Pa'Dentro ($15), a cocktail with tequila, passion fruit, and orange liqueur.  The mango habanero margarita ($15) was also mixed perfectly.  5/5 The guacamole ($11) was fresh and flavorful: avocado, tomatillo, onion, cilantro, serrano and lime.  My wife found it a bit too spicy (diced serrano adds more heat than a traditional jalapeno) but I enjoyed it despite a small-ish portion.  4/5 We also got a queso fundido de camaron ($16): melted chihuahua cheese, red onion and pan seared shrimp, with tortillas and cilantro-serrano sauce.  Pan searing the shrimp instead of grilling them is certainly a choice....but not one I'd make again.  2/5 Esquites ($8.50), on the other hand, were awesome: grilled corn, epazote butter, lemon aioli, cotija cheese, tajin.  One of the best we've tried in a long time, but for $9 we expected a lot more elote!  5/5 The birria tacos (2 for $11) were very good; my wife was right to point out they should've come with a cup of birria juice on the side.  The tacos al pastor (2 for $10) were delicious: marinated pork with pineapple, cilantro, onion and salsa morita.  Next time, more tacos!  4.5/5 For dessert we got flan ($10), a creamy vanilla custard with caramel, rompope and cookie crumbs.  It was a denser style of flan and tasted amazing, but I don't know how I feel about that random pile of cookie dust.  4/5 Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 3.5 It took way too long for a server to come over and take our order at the beginning.  Thankfully the food came out FAST!  The bar, on the other hand, was lagging big time.  We were more than halfway finished with dinner by the time our cocktails showed up. Also important note for cheapskates like me: they do not serve free chips & salsa.  Quiubo isn't that kind of place, so if you want salsa with chips, you'll have to pay for it. * TL;DR * Rest assured you can get the same high quality tacos and cocktails from the Bien Trucha group. We were really impressed with a couple items like the esquites/elotes and al pastor tacos, as well as the atmosphere inside.  The vibes outside were solid and even though service was slow at first, we'd love to come back.  I'd recommend Quiubo for sure.
