Beautiful establishment with outside seating. Friendly staff. Small snack available but would recommend eating before coming. Chairs are not the most comfortable but they also have other seating options.

Two friends and I decided after walking around to check out Up North Wine Tasting Room on a Saturday afternoon. When we walked in we were greeted right away. We were informed that we can do a tasting at the stand up bar or have drinks of wine or other items at the seating areas. We chose the wine tasting options. We were given a card and able to pick 6 tastings of our choice each. The tasting attendant was extremely knowledgeable. Our group's tastes are completely different when it comes to wine and she was able to give us pointers and what we may each like best. They do offer memberships, but with being ober an hour drive away, I personally did not join. It's a cute place.

I had no idea this place existed, so when my friend mentioned it as we were trying to decide where to go, I had to try it. Parking is easy since it's tucked away off the north side of 38, and there are also public lots nearby. The inside is super cute with multiple seating areas and a cozy vibe, and they also have a back patio, which is where we opted to sit. We were there for two hours and never felt rushed (although I should've opted to sit in the shade, because I got major sunburn and didn't have on sunscreen. Learn from my mistakes lol). They have a great range of wines, and I love that they have both a tasting (5 one ounce pours for $10) and flight (4 two ounce pours for $16) options so you can try multiple wines. I opted for a glass of one of the reds (I can't recall what it was but it was well-balanced and very good ...I think it was $10, in case that helps? I think it was a blend of Cabernet and something else?). My friend had a flight and loved them all. Then we went back for seconds for the frozen options. I had never had Frozé before, as I'm not usually a rosé fan, but omg. So perfect for an 80 degree day. Utter delight. My friend had the frozen gin lemon drink and said it was great. I also liked that they served all their drinks in their logo glasses. They also sell their wines by the bottle to go, which is a great idea after imbibing them by the glass and knowing your favorites. The two staff members we chatted with were very helpful, friendly, and patient as we tried to figure out what we wanted. I was very happy with the experience. I would definitely come back here the next time I'm in town.

Cutest wine shop with some of the nicest employees! We loved the unique theme of profiling Michigan wineries and will be back in the months to come for a new experience

Such a calming, beautifully decorated atmosphere with chill vibes. We were seated promptly and given menus with some information. In our group of 8, one of us did a flight, the rest did a tasting. For a tasting you have to go up and back to the bar. For the flight, they brought her a little wood holder with her wines. All the wines are from up north Michigan and tastings change frequently. I had a variety of wines in the tasting and they were all delicious. The ladies behind the bar were very knowledgeable explaining the wines. Overall, I would definitely be back!

Food and wine pairing special event

We absolutely love Up North. They have the best wines from Northern Michigan. I would give their place more than 5 stars!

The inside is relaxing and the outside area is super cute with plenty of seating. There was live music when we were there so we sat outside and enjoyed our wine flights while listening to the music. Can't get better than that! Service was great- the girls working were amazing. I liked talking to Lisa. She was really nice! The wine is incredible! We are sweet wine lovers and that's most of their wine menu. They have so many unique sweet wines. I particularly enjoyed the raspberry dragonfruit, black cherry, and orange sangria. I love how they set up the flights. The first wine you list on your sheet is at the top of the flight and then it tapers down to 2nd, 3rd and 4th. I've attached photos. They also offer wine slushies, which we thought was really cool! We will definitely be back when it's warmer out to enjoy those!

The restaurant was nicely decorated, and they had some new items on display for purchase. One thing I did notice was getting a few looks from some of the staff while walking through, possibly because I was wearing ripped jeans. Not sure what that was about! Some days you just don't feel like dressing up, even when going out for good food. We started with the Sweet Chili Calamari (7/10). The flavor was really good, but some pieces were a little tough. For entrees, there were plenty of highlights: * Jambalaya (9/10): Really delicious with a nice kick of spice! * Chicken Burger (8/10): Great flavor and came with good sides. * Gnocchi alla Vodka (9/10): Creamy and delicious. * Gnocchi Carbonara (8/10): Another good pasta option. * Braised Short Rib Risotto (9/10): Definitely one of the highlights. We finished with the Key Lime Pie (9/10), which was a great way to end the meal. And of course, we had to get a glass of their Romance Red wine. Absolutely delicious! Overall, the food was really good, and the service was good as well. Despite the busy atmosphere and the little awkwardness when walking in, we had a great meal. I am a home brewer. How cool is that?!…read more Okay, so maybe I only did it once and it was more of a team effort but here's how I feel about that... The quantity of times I've brewed: Irrelevant The quality of the beer I brewed: Indisputable. Obvi, God gave me a talent and wants me to feel comfortable labeling myself as a home brew savant. Okay, 'savant' *might* be a bit of a stretch beyond the 'developmental disorder' part, but I feel like I should earn some kind of superstar label for (what I would consider to be) only a minimal amount of bitching about how heavy things were, how cold it was outside, and how hungry sitting around watching stuff boil made me. So at the v. least, I defo earned my home brew gold stars... plus I came up with a great beer name and made the cutest beer label in the history of history so nanananabooboo stick your head in doo doo. Anyway, I owe my home brew experience and expertise to the Home Brew Shop in St Charles. It's where we got our supplies, picked out our beastly yeasties, and talked shop with Home Brew guru (and total hottie), Ed, about... errr, stuff. Okay, my beery wonderful and home brew experienced boss was the one talking shop while my home brew ladies and I giggled and looked at all the fun goodies, but the point is that they're there to help get you started, answer any questions, and give you tips for making your home brew the very best it can be without giving off any kind of beer snob vibe. One of the coolest things about the shop is that they offer home brew and wine making classes on the weekends. So if you're like me and are the kind of person who goes to boil water, forgets about it because there's a rerun of one of your top 100 favorite Law and Order SVU episodes on, and returns to an empty pot with all the water boiled out- this might be a neat little option so you can still partake in the joy of home brewing. In conclusion, I'd like to leave you with one of my very favorite inspirational quotes: "Mmmm...... Beer" - Homer J. Simpson Happy Brewing, Y'all!

Mike is awesome. Very cool place. Will be buying my kegs as long as I'm in st Charles. Thanks!read more

Chris was our server and provided great service and went above and beyond. My cousin and I decided to share the grilled oysters and the charcuterie. Chris noted my reservation said no nuts and seeds and he said that the charcuterie came with seeded lavish. He went through the lavish and only chose the ones without the seeds. Now that's service! The grilled oysters were amazing! Only four came on the plate and I wanted to eat all of them and not share. I will definitely get those again - and all to myself. The charcuterie was your typical charcuterie. You can choose your own cheeses and meats on the board which is nice. The only disappointing thing is no complimentary dessert for our birthdays. Lots of restaurants do that, but I guess not at this one. Get those grilled oysters, you won't be sorry.

THE MALBECKONING…read more SixtyFour Wine Bar is a winning concept in downtown Naperville. Much like what Tapville Social does for beer, SixtyFour follows the concept of guests having the freedom to pour their own drinks. This place is on Water St in Naperville, near Vasili's and Blue Sushi Sake. Street parking isn't plentiful so the garage is your best bet, especially in the evening. You can build your own charcuterie, but use caution: everything is a la carte and without much effort that cute cheese platter can swell upwards of $40. This happened to us on our 1st visit, I thought "yeah sure, add a $4 honeycomb and seasonal jams, why not" to go with the $9 prosciutto, $7 manchego, and $5 cornichons. More recently, I got the restaurant week pre-fixe ($49) which included a starter, entrée, dessert, and glass of champagne. Each course separately would've added up to $55 (not counting the bubbly), so this option saved a few bucks. Both my wife and I got a pour-your-own wine card, that set us back about $20pp. The wifey got a mix of a dozen west coast & east coast oysters ($36) that came with cocktail sauce and a zippy pomegranate mignonette. The goat cheese bruschetta ($13) was incredible: goat cheese spread on several large pieces of grilled sourdough with roasted tomato and balsamic. We loved this and would get it again in a heartbeat. 5/5 The dates ($13) were a different story, however, as they came with cranberry goat cheese, orange honey, and crushed walnuts. I've been so used to savory dates (wrapped in bacon with a tomato sauce) that this much sweeter iteration caught me off guard. They weren't objectively bad, I just wouldn't order them again. 3/5 For my main course, I chose the short rib ($31) as I've done several times now: tender beef with mashed potatoes, braised carrots, crispy onions, and a red wine jus. This is a delicious entrée that I find myself steering towards every time I'm here, as it pairs perfectly with a Malbec or red blend. 5/5 The gnocchi ($33) were fairly pricey which I attribute to big chunks of lobster in a white sauce. But what SixtyFour did felt like a "bastardization" of gnocchi (my wife's words, not mine) by turning it into a homemade mac 'n' cheese of sorts, cooking it in a mini cast iron skillet topped with toasted breadcrumbs. Say what?! "Breadcrumbs" and "gnocchi" should never be used in the same sentence, unless it's "hey honey I did that grocery shopping, and I got beer, eggs, wine, gnocchi, ice cream, laundry detergent, kitty litter, AAA batteries and a box of breadcrumbs". It tasted fine, but there was absolutely no need to innovate here. 1.5/5 We reached a split decision on the dirty chai crème brûlée ($11). My wife thought it was different but lovely, whereas I found it strayed too far from vanilla custard and the flavor was overpowering, as if I just snorted tea leaves. It was REALLY strong, y'all! 3/5 Bread = 3.5 Circuses = 4.5 Our server Melissa was attentive and let us know about the wine tasting inside near the hostess' stand. We had a couple small pours (1-2oz) which equated to a free half glass, no complaints there. Restrooms were clean and the outside patio has a relaxing ambiance. The vibes are classy, romantic even. * TL;DR * It's fun sampling bold reds, sweet whites, and even rosé in 1oz, 3oz, and 6oz pours. I pity the fool who grabs a glass, sticks it underneath the first tap they see up front and presses 'POUR' without realizing they just selected a 2014 Chateau Haut-Brion ...... which retails for $500 a bottle! A half glass is nearly $75! I'll stick with a $7 Shiraz, thanks. As for the food, it's been mostly great with only a few exceptions. The gnocchi was whack, and the chai crème brûlée was polarizing. Due to the presence of delicate wine glasses literally everywhere, I would keep kids away from here. Leave the little ones at home and come here for date night. SixtyFour lists themselves as a wine bar first and kitchen second, which I agree with. If what you're seeking is a kitchen *and* wine bar, hit up a Coopers Hawk. Both places have solid wine selections, but being able to enjoy wine on-demand is a big plus. I'd happily recommend SixtyFour to friends and family.

I remember this place from the former restaurant which was not a culinary hit and maybe that was a reason bu Le Cochon is proudly representing a good french cousine. We did not have the reservation for Saturday night dinner but were seated at the bar where we had a great attendence from gentlemen from the bar. Atmosphere is cosy, with dimmed lights and the noise is moderate making it a good place for talks during the diner . They had a Spanish wines wine special where the bottle of wine started at $16 which is deal you do not find very often those days. We started with some appetizers: Oysters--Very , fresh crisp served with apple mignonette which was awesome Charcuterie; Pork Rillette, absolutely delicious. Dried sausage, very good quality. Pastrami de canard, another fantastic meat option I just wish they served 4 pieces for a couple which would be easier to share. Evrything was served with grain mustard , cornichons , jam and light crisps. Dinner: Macaronade Setoise-comfort food at its best, pasta was cooked al dente , tomato sauce was deep and rich and addition of sausage gave it that extra umami flavor. Beef Bourguignon--French classic. Beef was cooked well, served with vegetables and demi glace sauce. I wish there was bit more of the sauce around the potatoes but the whole dish was delicious and went well with Spanich Garnacha wine. We finished with Creme Brulee which was very good but I thing the sugar was schorched a little beyond the right temperature because it was a little bit bitter. This was absolutely a great experience at Le Cochon and we will come back and try more dishes at this restaurant!
