This is our second time at The Belmont. First time was for our wedding anniversary and this last time we brought some friends. Everything was great from the food, service (Nicholas was fantastic) and the ambiance reminds me of old school steakhouses. If I have one suggestion is try to decrease the noise level. It has nothing to do with patrons being loud. It's the fact that there are no elements to absorb the sound Some form of acoustic management would make for a more enjoyable experience. Otherwise a great place and a wonderful addition to dining in Naperville. Will definitely be back again. read more

Wow, just wow. The Belmont is Chicago vibes without the city traffic and paid parking. It's awesome. A friend and I stopped in on a Friday night and it was packed. Thankfully we were able to snag 2 seats at the bar after 10 mins. This place is cozy and sophisticated. It was designed well and is a nice dinner and drinks option. Service here is top tier - you're spoiled and treated like royalty. They serve the food literally onto your plate, put the napkin on your lap, change out plates and silverware after each course, etc. The food and drinks? Oh mah gawd! I had the smoked old fashioned and it is everything classic and delicious. For food I had a Cesar salad and the short ribs entree. The salad was OK, I'm glad I tried it and probably won't get it again. The short ribs literally fell off the bone and were extremely flavorful. The Belmont is definitely a popular spot now that it's open! Make sure you make a reservation for prime time dinner hours. There is a large bar that is first-come-first-serve as well. We had an 8:30pm dinner reservation for a Friday night. We checked in with the host at 8:25pm and were seated a little after 8:40pm. Our waiter was very friendly and checked in with us several times throughout the night. Almost everything we ordered was extremely delicious. The bone marrow was super tasty - highly recommend! Our steaks were cooked to our desired temperatures and not overly charred. The side spinach was very watery and lacked any flavor - that is the only dish that I would definitely skip. The Belmont is a convincing costume -- a coastal-elite supper club crossed with a marquee steakhouse, beautifully staged. The trouble is that everything you can photograph is here, and everything you taste isn't. The dinner: two oysters, two shrimp, and a petit filet took ninety minutes start to finish, for a four-item order. The side came wrong. And my credit card was handed to another customer and lost -- I cancelled it, paid to expedite a replacement, and it surfaced only after I'd reported it gone. The deeper tell is the steak. The petit filet was flat and characterless -- the washed-out taste of commodity beef dressed up to sound like more. The menu shows why: the everyday cuts read "USDA Prime, selected for quality & consistency," a grade and a soothing phrase with no farm and no origin, while the showpiece cuts get specific farm-and-state callouts. You can taste which is which. And the long list of sauces and finishes does a lot of work for a steak that should stand naked. Then the prices, which are pure coast: a $185 tomahawk, a $155 tower, $95 caviar "chicken nuggets." Coastal-supper-club prices, commodity-grade beef -- you pay for the first and eat the second. For scale: Sullivan's, a few blocks away, does a three-course dinner with a filet for $49; the tomahawk here alone is $185. This isn't Gibsons or Maple & Ash, though it's priced like it is. Until that changes, the value's within a short walk. Hugo's Frog Bar on Main pours actual Gibsons Prime Angus, from the first restaurant group in the country with its own USDA certification. Sullivan's has had it down to an art downtown since 1996. And Santo Cielo atop Hotel Indigo is packed nightly because the food and the price are a real value, going on a decade now. I'm rooting for them to close the gap -- but both levers have to move: quality up, prices down, to meet what already clears here. The room, the décor, the sense of taste -- that they've nailed; it's genuinely on point. They could even charge at the top end of Naperville if they matched it with flawless service and the best sourcing in town. What they can't do is charge Midtown Manhattan and Beverly Hills prices in DuPage County and expect the room to fill on décor alone. Naperville is in the middle of a growth surge, but it's a stable community, not a tourist strip -- and you can't run a tourist trap where the customers live, return, and compare notes. That model only works on strangers passing through. Here, everyone comes back. read more

Took my boyfriend to The Belmont in Naperville for his 25th birthday and I was genuinely excited because of all the great reviews about the service. The food was really good, no complaints there. But the service was such a letdown. We split a burger and the mac and cheese and we didn't order drinks. Since our bill wasn't huge it honestly felt like our waiter decided we weren't an important table. The table right next to us was also celebrating a birthday and he made a point to ask them about it. I had put on our OpenTable reservation that it was his 25th birthday and it was never mentioned once all night from our waiter. Only the front check in. Once our food came he only came back to us once and he said "I'm guessing you're just waiting for the bill" didn't even mention if we wanted desserts. It was supposed to be a special date night for his 25th and instead we left feeling overlooked and not worth spending "time" on us just because he acted like we weren't spending a lot of money compared to the other couples around us. I could forgive that egregious oversight, but the food is mediocre, the music way too loud for any conversation and the service less than excellent. Very disappointing. The Belmont is worth a visit. The ambiance and service are next level - feels like an old school big city chophouse. Very impressed at how they were able to capture that feeling, it feels like a place that has a long storied history attached to it. The service was next level as well, super attentive yet not bothersome. I believe our servers name was Patrick and he was phenomenal - easy going, personal and knowledgeable. The drinks were fantastic and there is an extensive wine selection. The food was all very tasty as well - I wasn't particularly blown away by any one dish but it was all very good. I imagine the food will only continue to improve and get refined - one thing is for certain, they have the atmosphere and service nailed. My steak literally had no flavor. I ordered a petit filet, medium and it tasted like they got it at Aldi, threw it on the grill without any seasoning, aging or preparation. Ordered mushrooms that were soggy and again no flavor at all. Staff is kind but inexperienced. Don't think any of them have worked in an upscale restaurant or steakhouse before. I recently visited The Belmont American Steakhouse during their soft opening and had a wonderful experience. Great ambiance. Our server Nicholas was fantastic--attentive, friendly, and genuinely made the meal enjoyable. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the house rolls with the tallow butter candle were a standout--unique and absolutely delicious. My wife's Smashburger was excellent, and the entire staff was warm and welcoming. My daughter ordered the chicken fried lobster. It was a solid dish, though the breading could have used a little more seasoning and the grits came out sweeter than expected (I prefer mine savory). Minor notes aside, everything else was spot on. Food, drinks, ambiance and front of the house staff was fantastic, but our server was not. Drinks took 15 minutes and when our tomahawk and sides were brought out we sat for 5 minutes without plates to eat and finally flagged down another server and asked to let our server know we needed plates. She finally brought the plates, but we still did not have forks because she took those when she cleared our salad so then we had to ask for forks and wait on those before we could eat. It was not the level of service we were expecting when dinner was as much as it was. Hoping for much better service next time! read more

This is a top tier restaurant. We went to celebrate our daughter's 22 birthday. Our server, Julie, was amazing. We started with drinks, got appetizers, we all ordered steaks, and finished with desserts. This place really reminds me of a Vegas style steakhouse. Came here with my husband for a celebratory dinner and we were very impressed from the moment we walked in. The atmosphere is stunning. The food was incredible. We got the Parker rolls with the beef butter candle, crab cakes, dry aged ribeye, cauliflower and corn brûlée (which was the star of the show). This place reminded us of Bavettes or Trivoli Tavern. The restaurant has finally added a new entree this week, a 12 ounce filet. That fills a void. I was hoping for 10 ounce since there is already a 6oz filet and 16oz bone in filet which is 13 ounce of meat. So the new 12 oz is about the same size as the bone in. Purée de Pomme. How many customers know that is French mashed potato's. Maybe just call it that. Belmont Burger comes with fries, why not just add it in the description because someone in our group ordered Paves fries to make up the void. Food was good. Service good. I ordered the steak tartar. It was on a rice cake with just a little crumbles of meat. It was nothing like what steak tartar should look like or taste like. I ordered cavatelli. It was the worst I've ever had. It was swimming and something that was red sauce and Parmesan cheese way too much. I couldn't even taste the pasta. The pasta was as big as half of your pinky nail. The pork chop was done. Well but way way too salty and I love salt. The martinis are very expensive and they were nothing to speak of atmosphere was great, but it has to be a whole package for me. read more

Once through draped revolving door you're in a vibrant completely unexpected reception/bar area. Our Frida night 630 table for 3 was ready. Our Server Cecilia- enthusiastic to have first timers at her table. Parker house rolls- with Beef tallow amazing presentation the garlic shrimp appetizer was also great. The Wedge Salad was big enough for three-It could have had a little more dressing. The filets were prepared to perfection the Lamb chops delicious. Stuffed we skipped dessert this time. This place just opened and they are off to a strong start. Think New York City style steakhouse run by foodies. The portions are large and the drinks are strong. We started with the Parker House rolls served with a beef tallow candle which was good. I had a Vesper martini and did my best impression of James Bond. Then a shared wedge salad that had seriously the best bacon cubes I've had in a long time. The steaks (hanging tender and a dry-aged ribeye) were great, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a nice super-Tuscan wine available by the glass. The owner stopped by and told us that he had personally curated the wine list. It's pretty hard to screw up black cod / sablefish, and indeed the fish entree was also good. We tried the Belmont tonight for my birthday dinner. I've never sent a meal back. I've never left an unfavorable review. Until today. I ordered the spare rib, and for whatever reason - it simply did not taste good to me - at all. I really enjoyed the mashed potatoes and the green beans, and so when our waiter returned and noted that I had not eaten the meat - I let him know why. He was immediately apologetic and assured me that he would bring it to the manager and that it would be "taken care of'". I stated how much I enjoyed the rest of the meal and asked if it was possible to charge me for the sides but remove the charge for the meat. 15 or so minutes later, the manager stopped by, interrupted our discussion at the table, and said "I understand your meal was not to your liking". I politely responded that the sides were fantastic, but that the meat just did not taste good to me and that perhaps there was just something wrong with that particular piece. She interrupted me while I was speaking to tell me that "we tasted the dish that you sent back, and it tasted just fine". With that, she turned and left - our entire table was stunned by her attitude. We continued our meal, and enjoyed desert and coffee (including a chocolate birthday tort 'on the house'). When the bill came, we were surprised to see that there was no adjustment of any kind for the spare ribs. When we mentioned it to our server, he too was taken aback and said that his manager had just handed him our bill and told him it was "all set". He once again apologized and said he would go follow up with her. He returned a few moments later to let us know that while he disagreed and it was not how he would have handled it, the manager was unwilling to make any type of adjustment. Very disappointing, and such a poor response from the manager. Won't be back - and it's a shame - our waiter, the rest of the food - all really great. read more

We dined at The Belmont on Sunday the 14th, and it was truly one of the most enjoyable and delicious meals we've ever had. We expected great things from chef Zach, and he absolutely delivered -- but what made the evening so memorable was that the excellence extended far beyond the kitchen. Chloe, Carli, Daniela, David, and the rest of the staff provided a level of hospitality and professionalism that was genuinely above and beyond. From start to finish, it was one of those rare dining experiences where everything just felt special. With seven of us at the table, we had the chance to explore a wide swath of the menu, and every single dish impressed. The caviar, branzino, bone marrow, steak tartare, and A5 Wagyu were all outstanding -- and the Wagyu in particular was one of those dishes you keep talking about long after the meal is over. The Chatel Farms Strip was another major highlight. The cocktails were spot on, the wine list was excellent, and even the kids were thrilled with their burgers and fries. Honestly, if I could find a criticism, I'd mention it -- but we simply didn't experience one. Whenever we head up north, we always make a point to visit Chicago Cut in the city and Gibson's in Oak Brook. After this meal, The Belmont has firmly entered that company -- and, frankly, may now be the new gold standard for us. read more

My husband and I went here for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We had heard such wonderful things about the service and food. It was gorgeous inside, and the hostess was so kind in wishing me a happy birthday. Our waiter David was very charming and animated, however we barely saw him. I have truly never had a worse service experience in a formal restaurant before. He was also attending to a party of 6 and a party of 5, both older adults. We are in our 30's for context. He barely ever came by to check on us, and when he did it was about 10 seconds. But he would stand at other tables for 10-15 minutes chatting, cleaning up, waiting on them hand and foot, running around getting them things. Meanwhile we were waiting constantly to order our next round of food and drinks, and three times were without water. No one ever came by to fill them up until we asked. The drinks were great, and the food was for the most part delicious. The filet was just okay, I've had better at much more casual restaurants. The lobster tail was extremely overcooked that I could barely chew it. I had to ask for some melted butter as it came plain with no sauce or seasoning (which was weird) and our waiter seemed annoyed I even asked. Then the biggest disappointment: the restaurant knew it was my birthday, the hostess mentioned it as well as the girl who brought us to our table. Our server, never mentioned it. We saw other tables there for a celebration get a dessert with a candle. We got nothing. I was near tears. I just wanted to get out of the restaurant because I was so upset but we had to wait 20 min to get our check because our server was talking to the group two tables over, sharing photos on his phone, chatting up a storm. And not paying attention to anyone else. I also noticed a manager went around to the tables with big groups, taking care of them, bringing them things, talking with them. We got nothing. Just because you aren't a big group (and therefore a bigger bill + bigger tip) doesn't mean you shouldn't get the same service as everyone else. Truly this experience left the worst taste in my mouth and ruined my birthday dinner. read more

The restaurant has a Bavette's look and vibe, which is not a bad thing. The decor is very nice and reminds me of a classic steakhouse. Food was excellent, I ordered the 16oz Chatel Strip, nice char on it, finished medium rare as I had ordered it. My wife had the burger which she said was excellent, not as good as Au Cheval but a close second. The sides were very good and sizeable. Mac and cheese was cheesy without being sloppy and the cauliflower with the Gruyère and mustard sauce is excellent. Not too many steak joints do a cauliflower as a side. Drinks were well executed, I had a Manhattan, only quibble was no toothpick for the cherry, which looked like a nice Luxardo one. Service here was outstanding, a couple of tweaks needed on staff that support the servers, but nothing that's a showstopper.Overall, this steakhouse is sorely needed in Naperville. Sullivan's has skated for years with sub prime steaks and only decent service at sky high prices. We will definitely be going back. read more
