Overall about a 3.5 out of 5. -crab rangoon 5 - big pieces with a lot of filling inside. -crispy shrimp with lemon sauce 5 - this reminds me of walnut shrimp but with lemon flavor. Shrimp was crunchy. -twice cooked pork 3 - This was decent but it didn't have a lot of pork in it. A lot of vegetables but I wanted more pork. -baby bok choy with garlic 5 - vegetables were soft not soggy., -smoked tea duck 5 - pieces had a good amount of meat. Just tons of pressed chicken, and a bland white sauce. My husband's Orange Chicken was supposed to be hot but was not. This was by far the worst. To begin, I had an odd feeling as soon as I came in because it was extremely empty and very quiet. That's not necessarily the restaurant's fault, but a weekend night with only two other tables? I was already confused, but whatever. The waiter sits us down with the menus, and I noticed that the options are very limited for the price. $40 per person, and there were something like 5 meats to choose from--that's far below standard. But whatever--I'm actually not picky about cuts of meat. As long as there's one tolerable cut of beef, I'm going to be fine. We head to the sauce line, and I'm immediately annoyed. This is the single worst sauce lineup I've ever seen. They don't have the majority of standard sauces/oils/spices. Instead, they carry things like ranch and buffalo sauce??? Why do you have buffalo sauce, but you don't have oyster sauce, chili oil, chives, vinegar, or any of the other extremely standard mix-ins? Extremely odd. When I got really freaked out was the rest of the buffet. There are your classic American buffet offerings under heat lamps, such as pizza, mini corn dogs, potatoes, etc. I'm not a person generally concerned about food safety, but I kid you not, I bit into one of the corn dogs I picked, and it was literally straight-up cold on the inside. I'm immediately worried that this food could be compromised. I go to the self-serve station with rice and curry, and both are a miss. The rice cooker is nearly empty and pitifully dry, and the Japanese curry has a thick, dark film over it from likely not having been stirred in a while. I give up on the buffet, and we decide to just have the meat boiled in the broth. I got my go-to mala, and the broth itself wasn't the worst, but also wasn't the greatest either. I get 3 cuts of meat and cook one of them, eat it, and am immediately grossed out. The meat has a weird taste--maybe it's freezer burn or something. I thought I was crazy and being unduly influenced by the rest of the restaurants off vibes, but my friend had the same reaction as I did at the same time. I'm like, hell no, nothing here is good, and I'm seriously questioning the safety of the food. I want to leave, and I don't want to pay full price, as I had eaten literally 2 bites and been there for less than 10 minutes. I call over the manager, and he ends up charging us $45 instead of the $90 it was supposed to cost. I'm grateful that he gave us the discount, but also, I'm unimpressed. The value of the food we had ordered thus far was likely less than $20--all I had was a bland sauce I made, white rice, a single mini corn dog, and three orders of meat that were no more than an ounce of meat each. I didn't want to fight, so I just said thanks, paid, and left. Will not return, and certainly don't recommend.
