Generous servings and everything we ordered was really tasty. Even though each dish was made to order, it came out fast and piping hot. Not the usual you can get from chinese take out places I like the marinated pig ears appetizer, the chicken with dried chilies and the hand pulled noodles (a must try). I first tried the Xian Cuisine in Chinatown and love their flatbread so I was excited to see another location pop up in Naperville. We've been here a handful of times but it's taken me awhile to finally write a review. I personally love the cumin beef/lamb flatbreads. They're pretty flavorful and crispy when eaten fresh. Another one of our repeat dishes is the biang biang noodles (tomato, egg, black bean sauce, pork, braised beef). The noodles are perfectly chewy and the sauce is so flavorful and has a slight kick. The salted egg yolk fish fillet is amazing and it's the first dish to disappear every time we come here. The last time we came we ordered the fish fillet in sour pickle soup which wasn't what I expected. It was literally fish with sour soup instead of fish with pickled veggies soup. We've also tried the sweet and sour pork ribs which I wasn't a huge fan of but then again, I also don't tend to eat sweet and sour foods. However, my daughter loved this dish despite there being bones present. The four seasons green milk tea is pretty good and they are able to adjust the sugar/ice level. The food was paced well but they kept coming by to see if we were done with our soup bowls so maybe they need to increase their inventory? read more

Service throughout was consistent. Our server was really friendly and kept up with the hustle and bustle of a crazy busy Saturday night. In total we ordered 8 items and ate family style. Came here with a party of 9 on Wednesday and got seated right away at a large round table with a lazy Susan. I like the iPad ordering so they can confirm what is ordered but my mom ordered in Chinese and there was a mixup and they accidentally brought two dishes out. Crab Rangoon - sweet cream heavy. I've had better Chicken skewers - bigger and spicier than I expected. Get the no spice for kids Dan Dan noodles - the sauce is pretty salty so make sure you mix well Cumin beef flatbread - my husband thought it was a little dry but I liked the dry bbq flavor Pork flatbread - juicy and flavorful. It was... okay. My dish was made with itty bits of ginger that I would bite into from time to time. I'm NOT a fan of ginger. But if you are then it's a good dish. I ordered the Seafood Tofu Pot. Shrimp, cuttlefish, scallops, white fish, tofu and veggies. I wish it had more veggies. But the flavor was decent. Served with white rice. My husband got the DanDan Noodles. That was definitely better after adding the spicy chili oil. We shared the beef and lamb skewers. The beef was SALTY but the lamb was pretty good. My experience was fine. The service was good. Am update to my recent review about the "too spicy Vermicelli bowl". Not able or willing to waste food, I politely asked one of the waiters to get me a take-out container. Adding a side of rice to it, I brought it home with me. When I paid the check, I found they had never added the optional Beef that I had requested, and also had not charged me for it. Probably the waiter had simply not heard or understood me. As I mentioned, I was not thrilled with the service that night... but I'm glad I cast no aspersions on anyone. To-nite, at home, I reheated the soup with some sense of dread. I added some chicken to it, having no beef in the house. True to Xi-an's standard, the same soup was EXCELLENT, especially with the rice and chicken to temper the spiciness! This changes my feelings somewhat. The service the other night was lousy. But the food was as good as it has ever been - fresh, HOT (temperature), spicy (my fault for not knowing better), and better than any Chinese cuisine anywhere! I'll be back sooner than I had thought. When i need Biang Biang Noodles and a fantastic Won Ton Soup, I know where to go. That, at least, makes me happy. Bring the "real" Staff back, please? read more

Our server was nice but I I'm not 100% sure he understood my questions clearly enough to provide guidance on food selections. So we went with dishes we "knew". The food was good, especially the Mongolian beef. The smelt was okay, but I prefer the smaller, crispier smelt I've had at other places. The noodle dish was very good, particularly the texture of the noodles themselves. I believe the noodles are made from scratch. The sauce was tomato vs. soy sauce based. It was tasty, just different. We ordered take out from here on a Wednesday around noon. The guy who answered the phone was very friendly and great to talk to. Food only took around 20 minutes after we ordered for it to be ready. When we brought the food back everything was very well and tightly packaged. We shared the following items: DRY CHILI CHICKEN: Great item! Chicken is well fried and the chilis really make it so fragrant. BIANG BIANG NOODLES: The noodles are perfectly cooked and the large surface area really soaks up the sauce. The meat both ways in the noodles are tasty and love that there was also some bok choy as well. Definitely get this dish. SALTED EGG YOLK EGGPLANT: I've always been a huge fan of salted egg yolk eggplant but unfortunately this was not that good. It is way too sweet but at least the eggplant is well cooked. Ambiance: 5/5 We came on a Monday around 4:45pm and were the only ones inside until around an hour later hahah. The inside was pretty spacious and would be great for groups of friends or even for a date. Service: 2/5 We were a little disappointed with service today because we had brought in a small bottle of beer and no one mentioned anything about a $15 BYOB fee to us until we were about to order. We had already been given glasses for it and were drinking it before all three servers rushed over and hassled us about the fee lol. In the end, we compromised and they said they will waive the fee if we ordered two beers. The whole interaction was just not the most professional and could have definitely been handled better, but it is what it is. Food: 5/5 Everything was so delicious!! Our favorites included the cabbage (MUST TRY!), lamb neck in tomato broth (it's a special order and not always available), and the lamb stir fry. The only dish that wasn't good were the cucumbers. It's legit just some chopped up cucumbers (not marinated or anything) with some black vinegar; do not recommend getting lol. Neat place. Went on a Saturday for lunch and got pretty busy. The service is usually like why other Asian restaurant. You order and never get checked on again until you need your bill. Since I don't speak mandarin (anymore), I early get worse service. Noticing the trend around me with tables that do speak the language. I understand it though and it can be frustrating. We ordered a good amount of food, the spice levels were decent. Sometimes that can be inconsistent since another time we asked for spicy and that was darn near impossible to eat! Not ganna lie, I was very impressed with this place considering it being in Naperville. I had a nice dinner with my friend :) The layout inside is pretty spacious with awesome art on the walls. The place slowly filled with locals and their families - there were lots of kids running around. The food was really good and tasted authentic. It's fall now so soup was the way to go. I got the shrimp and pork wonton soup (small size). The small is more than enough for 1 person - waiter said the small has 10 wontons. I added chili oil for spiciness and color because this soup is naturally not spicy. Yeah this place opened 2 years ago... this place is authentic although they do have an Americanized Chinese menu. Service like any place in Chinatown is mixed. It can be good or bad. Prices are fair. Lots of parking outside. Located across the street from Best Buy, close to Hollywood Palms. I challenge the viewers to stop picking the Americanized dishes and pick the more authentic dishes. I felt like the flavor profile was more dominated by the breading used to fry the smelt than the smelt itself.
