Finally, a place that serves good and authentic Taiwanese dishes!! Ever since Ah Chung's recently opened (taking over the space of the former Lao Liang booth, which has since permanently moved to the Chinese Cafe location in the Westmont International Mall building), my family and I have been coming almost on a weekly basis to try their many varied menu offerings. Their smoked duck is incredibly juicy and flavorful (and does not skimp on the meat!) and their pork/chive/tofu dish is served in an amazing black bean sauce that goes perfect with steamed rice. Their Taiwanese stir fried rice noodles and other assorted Taiwanese dishes (zongzi, bawan, etc) are the closest tastes of Taiwan that I've gotten here in the Chicagoland area. Highly recommend!!

Pork leg set meal - A Chinese-style takeout box holds rice, braised pork, a boiled egg, fried tofu, greens, and other dishes, with a small container of sauce.

The empress chicken and fried rice were really good with generous portions for both as well as a good mixture of shrimp, beef, chicken and pork in the rice. I've had better egg rolls though and wasn't a fan of the sweet and sour dipping sauce that came in a cup with the meal. It was just a little too sweet for my taste. The meal was good overall and the takeout order was prepared really fast. The staff were nice on the phone and when I was picking up my order, but at a cost of $20 I will probably consider going to other places next time I'm in the mood for Chinese takeout.

We ordered take-out on a Saturday night. They said it would take 30-40 minutes to be delivered but it didn't come until over an hour later. We ordered the sweet and sour chicken dinner. The chicken was warm and crispy but only came with one tiny container of sweet and sour sauce which was barely enough for half the chicken. It also came with an egg roll and TON of white rice. Half the platter was rice and it came with another small box of rice on the side. The rice was on the dry side too. We also ordered garden fresh vegetables. I can't say they seemed very fresh though. To me, it was equivalent to the bottom of a bag of frozen vegetables that were microwaved a bit too long.

I moved away to Clarendon Hills, but my mom still lives near by & so today I was in the area & stopped by. Something I have ALWAYS loved about this restaurant is the fish tank, & I noticed it has recently been restocked with fresh Koi. Which, made me sad because it really made me realize how old I am. Ordered my food, General Taos, chicken Fried rice & crab rangoons, my old usual. Drove all the way home, and opened & absolutely devoured my meal. Literally 3 decades of going to this restaurant, and it STILL hits every time. Thank you.

East China Inn in Aurora delivers that warm, welcoming vibe with a menu full of value and flavor. We stopped in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the variety of lunch specials available We kicked things off with the pot stickers--six pan-fried pork dumplings that were crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Our server promptly brought us water and a pot of hot tea, which added a comforting touch to the meal. I ordered the Kung Bao Chicken, including your choice of soup. I went with the Hot and Sour, which was rich, tangy, and served piping hot. Just as I was finishing my soup, my entrée arrived...perfect timing. The dish was flavorful, well-portioned, and satisfying. Throughout the meal, the staff was attentive, checking in often and keeping our water glasses full without being intrusive. Prices were very reasonable, making it easy to enjoy a great meal without breaking the bank. The place had a steady lunch crowd, which speaks to its popularity. And of course, no meal is complete without a fortune cookie to wrap things up! Tasty eats, great prices and excellent service! Hidden GEM!
