    Singapore noodles

If you call yourself Magic Kitchen, it better be magical. Well, it's good and there are a handful of "authentic" Chinese dishes on the menu. The interior is quite small, so you're really here for takeout or lunch. The service is okay, but it seems to get lost once they start trying to juggle their takeout and dine-in customers. I was very pleased with their Singapore noodles and beef noodle soup. I just wish there was more to their menu when it came to non-Americanized items. Call me spoiled coming from Chinatown. Certainly a family-ish run establishment that I will come to from time to time.

Kung pao beef dinner combo (crab rangoon not shown) - The image shows a plastic take-out container with two compartments. One compartment contains white rice, and the other contains beef with vegetables in a dark sauce, including green bell peppers, celery, and peanuts. The container is placed on a bamboo mat, and the meal appears to be a Chinese or Asian-inspired dish.

My friend and I ordered from here last night and really enjoyed this food! He thought it was some of the best egg drop soup he's had. I liked the dinner combos, where you can get a smaller portion of various entrees along with steamed or fried rice and crab rangoon or egg roll. I got this with kung pao beef and it was just right! Magic Kitchen has the magic touch! I will order from them again next time I want Chinese.

Almond Chicken w/ fried rice, egg roll & fortune cookie!

Picked up carry out for lunch today...still one of our favorite Chinese restaurants. Fresh, authentic, reasonable $. Still only doing order/carry out...but what a nice treat to take home or eat at a park! Highly recommend you try this little gem tucked away in a Lisle shopping mall. You won't be sorry!Chicken with Broccoli, Szechuan String Beans, Almond Chicken...etc! Several Lunch specials!! Treat your tummy!!

客家小炒 (Stir fried pork with veggies)

My family and I used to go to the restaurant all the time when it was still Great Wall. This was my first time there after the new owners had taken over. The new owners had remodeled the place so it felt more open and not as dirty as it used to be. Bathroom was also a lot nicer than it used to be as well, but the place is still a bit on the older side. We usually always get the same dishes and I was pleasantly surprised to find the flavors were very similar and yummy. My parents have been to the restaurant more times than I have and have picked out some dishes that are good ( there are some that we stay away from because they are just not good IE the walnut shrimp) We ordered: -客家小炒 (Stir fried pork with vegetables) : Flavor was good as well the portion. It's nice and salty so it goes great with white rice. -長城豆腐 (Fried tofu with black bean sauce) : Tofu is well fried and matches well with the sauce -絲瓜魚片 (Fish filet with Chinese okra) : very nice and light flavor. Fish is nice. Chinese okra is a hard vegetable to work with sometimes just because it can be bitter , but the owner told us they try the okra every time they serve it to make sure it isn't too bitter. There were a few pieces that were bitter but for the most part came out pretty nice! -Fried shrimp: flavor was good just a bit on the drier side Service was also great, food took a bit to get to us at first but as soon as the first dish came the rest followed. We will be sure to be back very soon! Pro: -Flavor (on certain dishes) -Remodeled -Adequate pricing -Service Con: -A bit older structure -Some parts of dishes (see above) -pacing of food (especially in beginning)

Orange chicken - A takeout meal includes pieces of orange chicken coated in sauce, a portion of fried rice with mixed vegetables, two broccoli florets, and two egg rolls on a white plate. The food is served on a white plate with a blue textured background, typical of Chinese takeout presentation.

We were in a pinch & needed a quick fix that would hit the spot. I had higher expectations based on what I had generally seen on yelp so a little disappointing to say the least. Orange chicken was a little too sweet which reminded me more of general tsaos. Also, the chicken itself was leathery as well as rubbery/bouncy. The cashew nut chicken was a bit on the saltier side. I did like the fried rice, that was solid. I also appreciated the substantial portions for the price. Overall, there's more be desired in the quality & flavor. Will need to give them another shot in the near future.

Ordered lunch box, the food is ok but way too salty. Refused to adjust the salt and oil level when ordering due to small order.

Ask the Community - Magic Kitchen

How big is it inside? Could they fit a group of more than 5?

Yes it is big enough, they are getting quite busy though, book in advance so you don't have a chance to be disappointed. If it is during lunch hours, right now they are very free.

Known for their classic New York-style sandwiches, house-cooked corned beef and pastrami, and traditional deli staples like matzo ball soup, latkes, knishes, and fresh bagels, this place truly delivers the full deli experience. Their bagels are traditional NYC style -- boiled, topped, proofed, and baked fresh daily. My husband and I tried the Asiago cheese, spicy pepperoni, and onion bagels, and they were all delicious. Inside the deli you'll also find a huge selection of freshly baked goods including: * Rugelach * Cherry & Strawberry Carnegie-style creamy cheesecakes * Colossal chocolate eclairs * 5-layer carrot cake & chocolate blackout cake * Classic black & white cookies They make 16 different bagels daily along with pastries, and more. You can also grab house-made soups, their popular egg salad, bagel chips, and other deli favorites to-go. The best Matza-ball soup I have ever had! I ordered the #37 Stuffed Grilled Cheese from their creative sandwich menu -- made with sharp cheddar, Schmacon, mayo, two crispy latkes, all stuffed inside challah bread. Wow. From the moment you walk in, owners Mark and Tonia make you feel like you're visiting friends. You can tell many guests are regulars, and anyone new is welcomed with the same warm smile. I like that they also make a lot of their own proteins out of seitan instead of just the store brand plant based meat products which they have but not in most dishes. The food is really good. I really liked the Mac and cheeze, the fried "chicken" appetizer and the beet soup the most. They don't seem to make their own drinks but they do have a lot of great food options which is all homemade and they do offer some delicious healthy drinks for purchase. They also sell a small selection of nut butters, baking ingredients and kale chips that they make as well as a few more snacks that they don't make. Like a very mini vegan grocery. The ambiance is nice. Lots of live plants and comfortable booths and tables. I especially love the table in the corner by the window and big plants.
