The rating was 3 stars, but it was late, so I and thought I would give it a try anyway. Yelp said it would take an hour for delivery, but my food arrived in about 30 minutes. I ordered the Shrimp and vegetables, BBQ Pork appetizer, and a small Egg drop soup. The food was hot, and tasted great. I'm not sure why the previous ratings were only 3 stars. Finally! Delicious lomein in Chicago that is brown in color and not the yellow chow mein looking type . I've lived here for 18 years and have had such bad luck with lomein from different Chinese restaurants here. This shrimp lomein was brown in color, perfectly spiced, and the jumbo shrimp tasted AMAZING. We also ordered shrimp fried rice and crab rangoons with our order, which were good as well. So instead of remaking the item and/or adding sufficient meat/tofu, lady cook was lazy and added vegetable which were noticeably more raw than the rest. To top it off lady at cash register insisted they only give small rice and up charged $3 for a total of $15 when small size is only $8. Ripped off. Upset. Cannot talk to them. They yell loudly in Chinese amongst themselves. Would really be nice to have some honesty. Instead it's all trickery. Buyer beware. The more you go there the less they appreciate your business. Tonight I ordered pretty late but my food still got here on time and it was nice and hot - even at almost 10 o'clock at night. I ordered a small beef lo mein and it was great. I was hesitant about cheating on King's Wok with China Station, but being sick and not wanting to move off the couch, I needed a Chinese food place that would deliver. I settled on some Hot & Sour soup, General Tso's Beef (with steamed rice), and a small Chicken Fried Rice. I placed my order a few minutes shy of 5 p.m. through GrubHub and was given an estimated delivery time of 6:00 - 6:10 p.m. The delivery driver showed up at about 6:00 p.m on the dot; however, the poor guy got lost and I had to give verbal directions until he got here. He was very nice; too bad he works for a place with incompetant cooks. Hot & Sour soup - Plenty of spice, great flavor, but..... why does it have shrimp in it!?!? I HATE shrimp. Hate, hate, hate them! Nowhere on the menu on GrubHub does it state the H & S soup has shrimp. Also, there's pieces of chicken in it. Hmmm. General Tso's Beef - It smelled devine, but that was the only good part about it. I seriously feel like they pulled a frozen block of it out of the freezer, nuked it for 90 seconds (if that), put it in a tray with three pieces of broccoli and called it good. I tried to scoop some onto my plate and the entire block came out! After separating a piece to try, I was correct on my assumption. The meat wasn't warm at all. Even after I microwaved it for 2 minutes, I wasn't impressed with my second piece I tried and gave up on the dish entirely. I wouldn't feed this to my worst enemy's dog. Chicken fried rice - nothing like what I was expecting. Kind of warm, kind of not with huge chicken chunks. I didn't bother tasting the chicken; it looked disgusting. After throwing some hot mustard on there, I managed to get through most of it (seeing as how my main dish wasn't edible, I needed something) but my disappointment was mounting. I will say the steamed rice was good. But then again, if you mess up steamed rice, you have some serious issues. Oh, and the best part? After days of denying myself Chinese food, not wanting to break my diet. I finally caved, & decided to treat myself to a cheat day! After my doctor appointment, I needed to destress & feast. I came here on the coldest day of the year. Assuming the delivery would take longer, & many people would have the genius idea to stay indoors, all warm & cuddly to just have their food delivered. I decided to go in & order my food at their store. Good thing I did, I avoided an hour & half long delivery wait! When I was there, The phone kept ringing with new orders to fill. With only 1 driver (they are looking to hire another driver anyone that's interested) it may take some time to get people's food delivered. The owner is incredibly nice, the first time I went here she gave me a free bottle of water & hot sauce's (.30 cents) Small family owned local business, that has been in the area for many years. I love this place, the customer service here is speculator!!! The 2nd time I came her, she gave me a free egg roll! This is my favorite place to get Asian cuisine in Naperville. China Station is absolutely fantastic. This restaurant gives the best bang for your buck out of all the Chinese food joints in the area. I come here frequently during lunch to order the lunch special, which includes an entree, a choice of crab rangoon or egg roll, a fortune cookie, and a free drink. What really hooks me is the portion size for the main meal. The entree is normally loaded up with fried rice and whatever you ordered, and I often leave the restaurant feeling like I'm about to explode. It is SUCH a great deal. The manager is a really nice guy; he cares about his customers and often checks up on us while we are eating if the restaurant is not too busy. They also offer a rewards card that basically allows you to have a buy ten get one free deal. I've been to and enjoyed Joy Yee several times (Naperville & Chinatown), but haven't been inside or ordered from a stand alone mom&pop Chinese place in years. There's plenty to choose from the menu, and looks like they have decent lunch specials. I ordered the Singapore Noodle dish, extra spicy and it was very good. Chicken, shrimp, pork, very thin rice noodles. I ordered for dine-in and the food came in a resealable dish, which made it easy to close the leftovers and take back with me. The dining area is small, then again the store front is small. I'd suggest ordering over the phone or online and taking back with you (that's what I'll do next time - and there will be a next time). I'm honestly surprised that China Station has such bad reviews. I was expecting to see some here and there, but there's way more 1 star reviews than this place deserves. The food at China Station is honestly some of the best takeout Chinese food I've had. It's almost always hot and fresh tasting and looking. The prices are more than reasonable, and if you find some coupons in the mail, then it's even better. I've ordered several items from here and only once was I disappointed by the taste. My favorite dish is the chicken and mushroom. The sauce was light but flavorful, the mushrooms were meaty, there was a good amount, and the chicken was a generous amount. I could seriously eat two of these in one sitting because of how light it is. I walk away from the table not feeling bloated or icky like some Chinese food makes me. The runner up would be the beef and broccoli. Their beef is excellent. It's tender, not fatty, and nicely sized. A lot of times Chinese restaurants have really poor quality beef which always puts me off. The sauce was a savory sauce that is not overly salty. The broccoli is fresh and big. I get stuffed eating this and it's the best I've had. Their egg rolls are crispy and very typical. I can't say they are the best, but they definitely meet the standard which is A-O.K. The fried rice is a hidden treasure. It's moist and piping hot. Maybe not the best flavor-wise, but the fact that it isn't even remotely dried out makes it compete with others. Their large is big enough to be just a meal (what my partner gets all the time). I have to give a shout out to the chicken and broccoli. I can't say it's equal with my favorite dishes, but it's got a unique sauce for chicken and broccoli. Again, it's a lighter sauce, but it isn't the typical white sauce/brown sauce you might be used to. The only disappointing thing I've ordered was the sweet and sour chicken. The flavor was fine, but the chicken wasn't very crispy which is what I really like. Otherwise it was just "eh." Overall I'd say skip the negative Yelp reviews and try it for yourself. China Station is great. Sometimes you can get a coupon or two to reduce the price of the orders and such, but they're relatively nicely priced. I always only ever order the crab rangoon with fried rice, my boyfriend likes to try something different every time. It's a hit or a miss with his stuff, but pretty much likes it. I am so picky when it comes to Chinese food, and until now I hadn't been able to find a place in this area that I found comparable to my old favorite in Winfield. I ordered the chicken fried rice, egg rolls, and General Tso's chicken. All of it was incredible, but I could not get enough of the General Tso's was particularly amazing. Some highlights: the crab rangoon, the egg rolls (perfectly crunchy), the Roasted Pork Egg Foo Young (the sauce is packed separately which is convenient if you don't like it soaked in sauce), the pad thai with shrimp. The pad thai may not be the most authentic in the land, but it's delicious nonetheless, and packed full of shrimp! I think our family Chinese taste have changed. Poor taste & qaulity overall. Crab ragoons were cold, big and full of cream cheese but where was the crab meat. Egg rolls, too chunky with the veggies still pretty raw. Orange chicken, probably the best dish with real orange in it, but all dark meat and pretty greasy. Sesame chicken, poor flavoring, greasy dark meat & heavy breading...we didnt even finish our first helping on plate because it was so blah. We won't be going back.
