    Singapore noodles

If you call yourself Magic Kitchen, it better be magical. Well, it's good and there are a handful of "authentic" Chinese dishes on the menu. The interior is quite small, so you're really here for takeout or lunch. The service is okay, but it seems to get lost once they start trying to juggle their takeout and dine-in customers. I was very pleased with their Singapore noodles and beef noodle soup. I just wish there was more to their menu when it came to non-Americanized items. Call me spoiled coming from Chinatown. Certainly a family-ish run establishment that I will come to from time to time.

Kung pao beef dinner combo (crab rangoon not shown)

My friend and I ordered from here last night and really enjoyed this food! He thought it was some of the best egg drop soup he's had. I liked the dinner combos, where you can get a smaller portion of various entrees along with steamed or fried rice and crab rangoon or egg roll. I got this with kung pao beef and it was just right! Magic Kitchen has the magic touch! I will order from them again next time I want Chinese.

Almond Chicken w/ fried rice, egg roll & fortune cookie!

Picked up carry out for lunch today...still one of our favorite Chinese restaurants. Fresh, authentic, reasonable $. Still only doing order/carry out...but what a nice treat to take home or eat at a park! Highly recommend you try this little gem tucked away in a Lisle shopping mall. You won't be sorry!Chicken with Broccoli, Szechuan String Beans, Almond Chicken...etc! Several Lunch specials!! Treat your tummy!!

客家小炒 (Stir fried pork with veggies)

My family and I used to go to the restaurant all the time when it was still Great Wall. This was my first time there after the new owners had taken over. The new owners had remodeled the place so it felt more open and not as dirty as it used to be. Bathroom was also a lot nicer than it used to be as well, but the place is still a bit on the older side. We usually always get the same dishes and I was pleasantly surprised to find the flavors were very similar and yummy. My parents have been to the restaurant more times than I have and have picked out some dishes that are good ( there are some that we stay away from because they are just not good IE the walnut shrimp) We ordered: -客家小炒 (Stir fried pork with vegetables) : Flavor was good as well the portion. It's nice and salty so it goes great with white rice. -長城豆腐 (Fried tofu with black bean sauce) : Tofu is well fried and matches well with the sauce -絲瓜魚片 (Fish filet with Chinese okra) : very nice and light flavor. Fish is nice. Chinese okra is a hard vegetable to work with sometimes just because it can be bitter , but the owner told us they try the okra every time they serve it to make sure it isn't too bitter. There were a few pieces that were bitter but for the most part came out pretty nice! -Fried shrimp: flavor was good just a bit on the drier side Service was also great, food took a bit to get to us at first but as soon as the first dish came the rest followed. We will be sure to be back very soon! Pro: -Flavor (on certain dishes) -Remodeled -Adequate pricing -Service Con: -A bit older structure -Some parts of dishes (see above) -pacing of food (especially in beginning)

    Orange chicken

We were in a pinch & needed a quick fix that would hit the spot. I had higher expectations based on what I had generally seen on yelp so a little disappointing to say the least. Orange chicken was a little too sweet which reminded me more of general tsaos. Also, the chicken itself was leathery as well as rubbery/bouncy. The cashew nut chicken was a bit on the saltier side. I did like the fried rice, that was solid. I also appreciated the substantial portions for the price. Overall, there's more be desired in the quality & flavor. Will need to give them another shot in the near future.

Nothing wrong with the food it just wasn't as good as other places in the area. The wonton soup had an unusual red color to it.

Ask the Community - Magic Kitchen

How big is it inside? Could they fit a group of more than 5?

Yes it is big enough, they are getting quite busy though, book in advance so you don't have a chance to be disappointed. If it is during lunch hours, right now they are very free.

Tried this place for the first time on Jan 2nd. Ordered a take-out online. The first thing I…read morenoticed was, during the checkout process, the form asked for a tip, and had 20% checked as a default. 20% for what??? Handing me a bag? I got kung pao beef and a couple of other things. The "beef" in the kung pao was so fatty and chewy I could literally not eat it. I kept trying, but it was EVERY PIECE in the container. A total loss. I called to let the restaurant know. The woman who took the call assured me my card would be credited the amount of the item. This was outright FRAUD, as my card was never credited for this food I could not eat. She also said the manager would call me back, which also did not happen. Bad enough the food was inedible, but blatantly lying to me was way over the line. The rest of the items were on the bland side, and I'm not sure if I would have come back. But after what happened, I'm avoiding this place like the plague. I cannot afford to literally throw my money in the garbage.

It's across the street from Arby's in a small strip mall. You'll definitely have to make a U-Turn because getting into the lot is weird. Plenty of parking since it is a shared lot. We decided to do two combo meals plus the aristocrat chicken. When dining in, there are about 4 tables so it can be limited if there is a rush hour. The owner was very pleasant and he explained about the items before we looked at the menu. Lumpia was crispy and tasty. Garlic rice was a little oily but still good. Overall, it's about a 4. I would have given them a 5 but that rock hard crispy kare kare is hard to forget. However, I'll return to try other items. -crispy kare kare with garlic rice and lumpia 3 - I wanted to like this but the crispy kare kare was a huge let down. It was very tough to eat. I've had Filipino food many times and it was never this hard. It's a shame because the peanut sauce with the veggies and eggplant were delicious. -bbq pork belly (liempo) with garlic rice and lumpia 5 - I really liked the BBQ pork belly. Very easy to cut with a spoon. Meat was well seasoned. It is fatty, so it's best to eat it with rice. -aristocrat chicken 5 - highly recommended. Chicken is extremely flavorful even for leftovers. Meat is very moist and juicy. Nice balance of sweet and salty. I should have gotten the 10 pieces.

Everything was great (even if a little overpriced) here as always…read more Service was fantastic and speedy. My vegan tofu and black mushroom (no pork or oyster sauce) was delicious. My husband loved his shrimp and broccoli Lunch Special. It came with a complimentary egg drop soup, which he said is one of the best egg drop soups in the area. We will certainly be back when we are in Naperville again.

So, we ordered 4 things to go: the vegetarian egg rolls, Chicken Almond Ding, Chicken with pea…read morepods, and Orange Chicken. The eggs rolls had very little inside them, but were pleasant enough fried dough. All of the chicken dishes seem to have a pressed chicken--not sliced or real chicken. Pleasant enough, but kind of strange. The Almond Ding had separate almonds, which was nice and Chick with peadpods appeared to have a little bit of real mushrooms and some real pea pods in it--but they lacked fresh flavor. The sauce is very bland, and kind of like a globby-like texture. There's a lack of any Chinese vegetables. No Bok Choy, no bamboo shoots, very few water chestnuts, no green pepper. Just tons of pressed chicken, and a bland white sauce. My husband's Orange Chicken was supposed to be hot but was not. It was pleasant but same pressed chicken now breaded (much better cover for pressed chicken). Lack of veggies in all the dishes. Would we go back? Probably not. Ended up throwing half of it away. Honestly, Panda Express is probably just as good which is kind of sad.
