I've been to all the Chinese locations in the area and this place is my favorite. The prices are reasonable, the service is great, and the owners are very nice and accommodating. Even on weekends, I can always get a table right away. I'm always surprised it's not busier than it is. I often ask the owner's recommendation and she is always on point. This was a last minute decision to find a Chinese place for dinner, I have passed by it on maple many times but never got around to ordering it. So my girlfriend and I ordered, we got Crab Rangoons, beef with mixed vegetables, general tso chicken and with fried rice, egg rolls, egg drop soup and tofu soup. Let me tell ya, this food was piping hot when we got it home! Everything was super fresh, the fried rice was amazing, it was an overall great meal. The only thing I wish they could fix is how you get the food with COVID. All they have is little section before entering the restaurant where you wait to get your food. Just returned from Magic Kitchen....... Shrimp Egg fo young was the very worst chinese food I have ever eaten. As soon as I opened the bag, it smelled like rotten fish, so I tried it to give it a chance, took two bites, the rest ended in the garbage. Pork egg rolls were nothing to write home about either. Finally found my go to Chinese! I ordered the orange chicken and general tso chicken with fried rice and crab rangoon. It tasted amazing and so fresh. The orange chicken really tasted like sweet orange. The general tso had a spice taste without it being spicy. The fried rice and crab Rangoon had tons of flavor! Incredible food! We had the low mein, orange chicken, walnut chicken, curry beef, fried rice and a spicy dish served over an open flame. For an appetizer we had crab Rangoon and steamed dumplings, we also had the wonton and hot and sour soup, Everything was so delicious! Very disappointed on our meal this time. I ordered chicken almond ding. The chicken wasn't chicken. It was cut up very small and was breaded? Smelled and tasted like fish. The only vegetables in it were carrots and celery. The beef in the fried rice must have been in a marinade. It was a pinkish gray color and had no taste. Can't say for sure if it was beef. read more

I just created an account to review this restaurant specifically and I am sorry it's a negative one. My gf and I just moved to Naperville. We were triggered by the high rating of this restaurant and would like to give a try. The food is Okay but FRESH, I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for authentic Chinese food. I would probably rate 3 to 4 stars for their food. However I am really angry about their attitude treating people differently. Everything went fine when we walked into the door, sit down and started ordering the food...until my gf and I started talking to each other in Chinese. My gf and I are not physically looks like Chinese that much and they treated us politely before they were able to recognize our identity. After they figure out we are Chinese, suddenly, we can feel that the waitress (or owner? an old lady became rude to us. I have no idea what's their "story" with Chinese Speakers since the restaurant staffs speak Chinese too. Their attitude is like "Oh they are Chinese and we don't have to be careful or polite to them". I talked to my neighbor who's from Taiwan and they got somehow the same experience. I don't mean to be picky or to start a debate on race issue. I just would like to share my experience to you people. read more

This was actually really good. I was a tad unsure at first since we were the only ones in the restaurant. The crab Rangoon was good but it was more garlicky than I am used to. I tried the wonton soup. It was okay. Not the best I have ever had but better than most places. The broth had flavor to it which most places don't. We had the beef with twice mushrooms. It was absolutely delicious. The sauce was amazing. We also had the lo mein which was very good but not as good as the other dish. We ended up mixing the two which was a fabulous idea. Love that they have an authentic Chinese menu (which is so hard to find in the suburbs! ). Recommendations have always been on point. Szechuan-style fish fillet, and mung bean noodle soup are my favorites thus far. Soooo good. Sometimes seasoning is a little off (fried rice was a little bland one time and a little too salty the next) but not enough to really be that big an issue. Mapo tofu was just average (but I have found very few places that actually make it worth going back for. Maybe I'm just picky?) Probably a good thing they don't have delivery (no grubhub or door dash either), which sometimes deters my lazy butt from eating here, otherwise I'd be obese and poor by the end of the year. read more

My experience with Magic Kitchen was 5 stars. The food is delicious. In a recent family taste test, Magic Kitchen has beaten PF Changs for the title of best fried rice. This place is pretty good. The food is above average, and the portions are large for the price. I really liked the Mongolian beef and chicken lo mein. The place is clean but worn. The condiments for take out orders are in cardboard boxes with theirs lids cut off. They should figure out a better way to present them. I'd give them a 3.5, but rounding up to 4 for yelp. read more

Food was on the lesser side of mediocre (taste, portions), ambiance was plain (not that I care about that much for Chinese food restaurants), but for the prices (definitely on the high side!) you'd expect some quality almost home-cooked level of deliciousness. UPDATE: As I am having some leftovers tonight, it tastes as though the chicken pieces in the noodle dish and the beef pieces in both dishes were perhaps coated in corn starch? Flour? Sonething, prior to cooking, which is contributing to a meat texture that is not my preference. I will ask Vivian about this prior to mt next order. However, this realization does not change my desire to try them again. Vivian tells me they cook "to order," and I imagine MK can accommodate my request to not coat the meat prior to cooking. read more

As a Chinese American born in the US, I'm not sure what the rave reviews are about- the food is subpar (at least the authentic dishes) and very overpriced compared to similar Chinese restaurants in the area. I didn't try any of the Americanized dishes like General Tsos chicken and the like; but if you're looking for a good homestyle or authentic Chinese flavor, look elsewhere. read more

I really had high hopes for this restaurant basis all the Yelp reviews and drove well out of my way to give it a try. Unfortunately We were disappointed for several reasons. It was Christmas Day and we had a very large order and the bill was $150. The egg foo young was flat, over-fried, dry and did not include any gravy or water chestnuts even though I requested extra. The sweet and sour chicken did not include any pineapple or peppers; plain pink sauce. The Coconut chicken did not contain coconut. In fact the only difference between the two chicken dishes was the sauce. It all was just tempura fried chicken. My family did enjoy the shrimp lo mein and orange chicken. The fried rice was just ok. It seemed they may have brought in the B team chefs for Christmas duty. With so many other Chinese restaurants in the other, I doubt I'll ever be back. The egg drop soup is One of the best I've ever had. The Shrimp and vegetables were very high-quality. The Shrimp were very large. The vegetables were very fresh and cooked just right. The sauce was very flavorful. The eggroll was top-notch. The fried rice was the only thing that was not superb; however, it was still OK. The service was prompt and courteous. I went shortly after they opened with a friend and the general tso's chicken was the best I've ever had. The sauce was a dark red, rich, and flavorful. The egg roll wasn't greasy and the rice was perfect. I was excited and told my wife she had to try it. We ordered takeout a few weeks later and everything was very bland. Ok, so maybe they were just off this day. I convinced my wife to stop in for lunch two weeks ago. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Third time was not a charm. It was worse than our takeout. Bland sauce, rice seemed like it was a day old, and the egg roll was slightly greasy with just cabbage inside. Ordered take-out but would also consider eating at the restaurant next time - very clean and neat. Our take-out order was accurately filled and hot. We ordered the General Tso's Chicken, Dumplings (steamed), Garlic String Beans, Egg Rolls, Hunan Beef, Chicken with Mixed Vegetables and Fried Rice. Everything was great but the dumplings were the best we've had anywhere for a long time. The Egg Rolls were also nice and crispy. The General Tso's Chicken could have been a bit spicier but was still tasty (don't like it too hot so not a big issue - but if you like it spicy, let them know). Both the Chicken & Mixed Vegetables and Hunan Beef had plenty of meat and vegetables, with the meat very tender. Very nice sized portions too (lots of leftovers - yeah)! This location used to be another Chinese restaurant but is now under new ownership. It has been cleaned up and refurbished (new furniture and decorations) and the quality of the food is SIGNIFICANTLY better with very friendly staff and owners. read more
