    Singapore noodles

If you call yourself Magic Kitchen, it better be magical. Well, it's good and there are a handful of "authentic" Chinese dishes on the menu. The interior is quite small, so you're really here for takeout or lunch. The service is okay, but it seems to get lost once they start trying to juggle their takeout and dine-in customers. I was very pleased with their Singapore noodles and beef noodle soup. I just wish there was more to their menu when it came to non-Americanized items. Call me spoiled coming from Chinatown. Certainly a family-ish run establishment that I will come to from time to time.

Kung pao beef dinner combo (crab rangoon not shown)

My friend and I ordered from here last night and really enjoyed this food! He thought it was some of the best egg drop soup he's had. I liked the dinner combos, where you can get a smaller portion of various entrees along with steamed or fried rice and crab rangoon or egg roll. I got this with kung pao beef and it was just right! Magic Kitchen has the magic touch! I will order from them again next time I want Chinese.

客家小炒 (Stir fried pork with veggies)

My family and I used to go to the restaurant all the time when it was still Great Wall. This was my first time there after the new owners had taken over. The new owners had remodeled the place so it felt more open and not as dirty as it used to be. Bathroom was also a lot nicer than it used to be as well, but the place is still a bit on the older side. We usually always get the same dishes and I was pleasantly surprised to find the flavors were very similar and yummy. My parents have been to the restaurant more times than I have and have picked out some dishes that are good ( there are some that we stay away from because they are just not good IE the walnut shrimp) We ordered: -客家小炒 (Stir fried pork with vegetables) : Flavor was good as well the portion. It's nice and salty so it goes great with white rice. -長城豆腐 (Fried tofu with black bean sauce) : Tofu is well fried and matches well with the sauce -絲瓜魚片 (Fish filet with Chinese okra) : very nice and light flavor. Fish is nice. Chinese okra is a hard vegetable to work with sometimes just because it can be bitter , but the owner told us they try the okra every time they serve it to make sure it isn't too bitter. There were a few pieces that were bitter but for the most part came out pretty nice! -Fried shrimp: flavor was good just a bit on the drier side Service was also great, food took a bit to get to us at first but as soon as the first dish came the rest followed. We will be sure to be back very soon! Pro: -Flavor (on certain dishes) -Remodeled -Adequate pricing -Service Con: -A bit older structure -Some parts of dishes (see above) -pacing of food (especially in beginning)

Almond Chicken w/ fried rice, egg roll & fortune cookie!

Picked up carry out for lunch today...still one of our favorite Chinese restaurants. Fresh, authentic, reasonable $. Still only doing order/carry out...but what a nice treat to take home or eat at a park! Highly recommend you try this little gem tucked away in a Lisle shopping mall. You won't be sorry!Chicken with Broccoli, Szechuan String Beans, Almond Chicken...etc! Several Lunch specials!! Treat your tummy!!

We were in a pinch & needed a quick fix that would hit the spot. I had higher expectations based on what I had generally seen on yelp so a little disappointing to say the least. Orange chicken was a little too sweet which reminded me more of general tsaos. Also, the chicken itself was leathery as well as rubbery/bouncy. The cashew nut chicken was a bit on the saltier side. I did like the fried rice, that was solid. I also appreciated the substantial portions for the price. Overall, there's more be desired in the quality & flavor. Will need to give them another shot in the near future.

Nothing wrong with the food it just wasn't as good as other places in the area. The wonton soup had an unusual red color to it.

How big is it inside? Could they fit a group of more than 5?

Yes it is big enough, they are getting quite busy though, book in advance so you don't have a chance to be disappointed. If it is during lunch hours, right now they are very free.

Today was a good experience. I just worked out and called to ask about the dress code. No dress code, I'll be right there! I walked in and was greeted immediately and sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and gave me time to decide without feeling rushed even as I changed my mind a couple times. I ordered the salmon and Mad Rose to drink. The drink has a lot going on and wasn't for me. It reminded me of a cinnamon orange tea, citrus and spicy. For dinner, I waffled on a couple fish dishes, but went with the salmon. It has a nice, crunchy glaze on it with some nice citrus flavors that weren't overbearing. I wasn't sure how the risotto would taste with the orange, but it worked. I was asked several times how I was doing and how my drinks and food were. Dining solo, I get ignored at times with subpar service. Not tonight access I appreciate that. I would recommend based on service and the dish I had. I will return to try more.

I ordered from Entourage Downers Grove and was honestly impressed with how well everything held up for delivery. The standout for me was the lobster bisque. It arrived at the perfect temperature, which is pretty impressive for delivery. The bisque was rich and luscious without feeling overly heavy, and the basil oil added a nice brightness that balanced the creaminess beautifully. It also had a generous amount of lobster, including several large chunks, and was a very solid portion overall. The filet mignon sliders were another highlight. Each slider had a substantial piece of filet mignon topped with pickled onions, microgreens, and horseradish cream on brioche buns. The onions and horseradish added enough acidity and bite to balance the richness of the beef without overpowering it. I also tried the Vietnamese summer rolls, filled with roasted shiitake mushrooms, fresh vegetables, and rice noodles, served with both peanut sauce and sweet chili sauce. Everything tasted very fresh, and the sauces complemented the generously stuffed rolls nicely. My only small critique is that cutting them in half made for a prettier presentation, but made them a little awkward to dip and eat. Overall, this was a surprisingly strong delivery experience, and I would absolutely order from them again, or better yet, make it over to the restaurant itself next time I'm in the area.

The venue Wasn't too crowded which was a plus. I decided to have dinner with reservations @3pm with the App OpenTable. On time for my reservation with no wait time! Seated immediately, I was excited to have my waitress named Arielle. Immediately, she accompanied me with complimentary bread and water along with the restaurant cocktail and food menus. She was very happy to be able help in any way to make me comfortable and was just a joy to have. My first course was the Iceberg wedge BLT, with my cocktail smoked old fashioned. For the second course I spoiled myself with the filet medallions with lobster tail Oscar style accompaniment sides; truffled mac&cheese, and crab fried rice with mushrooms and scallions. Sheeeshh! That meal was phenomenal! Lobster sat perfectly on top of the beef medallions as they both were served and with gratitude I ate every bit of it! Truffled Mac & cheese were so cheesy it was a perfect mouthful. The rice also had some delicious flavors that enticed my tastebuds with savory goodness! Everything was GOODT! This is one of the more $$ entrées on the menu, but it's absolutely worth it. The portion was generous, the lamb was high quality, and the artichoke pesto paired really well with the rich, gamey flavor. The roasted pearl onions were a great addition too. The second time, it was Monday when the oysters are $1.25 and we weren't acknowledged, so we decided to seat ourselves at an open table we saw just to be told to wait and that someone would be with us....we stood at the counter waiting for a good 5 minutes and no one came to us so we sat on the bench in the front for what felt like 15-20 minutes. Finally, someone came just as I was getting ready to pick another place for dinner. Based on that wait time to get seated, we were smart enough to put in everything we wanted to order for our meal since we knew it would take a while to get someone's attention again. I like coming to Shuckin' because of that oyster deal and everyone else might have the same idea which is why they were so busy.
