Beef Bulgogi and kimchi scallion pancakes

Came back to Gumii for this first time since my last review to grab something to go for lunch. You're still greeted enthusiastically when you walk in, and the food is still absolutely delicious. I wanted to try the try the tteokbokki today and I wasn't disappointed. I didn't opt for any cheese or fish cakes this time because I wanted to taste how it was without first! It's mildly spicy and full of flavor, I'd definitely get this again with both toppings. It also looks like more was added to the menu since my first visit. I've been meaning to take my parents here and I'm going to make it a point to in the near future.

I'm a huge fan of Korean cuisine, but I felt like the soondubu was a little lacking in flavor and spice the kimbap was very good though! I noticed a lot of customers ordering the kalbi, so I'll definitely give this place a second chance. The service was phenomenal since the cashier and workers were so friendly and attentive to if we needed anything. The ambiance was nice as well. You order at the counter and then they bring your food to your table.

Gumii is a Korean restaurant in Wheatland Marketplace off of Route 59. I've only had their food as take out, and it has been delicious every time. My husband would bring back food from Gumii whenever I had a craving for Korean food. Their food would always cheer me up, and the restaurant is family owned. My husband says they're really nice. Korean soups and stews are so comforting. When I was a new mom and bone-tired after coming home from the hospital, I had Gumii's kimchi jigae. I also recently had their spicy beef soup and it was fantastic too. The broth was rich and everything this made with love and care. Eating their food is like a hug. It's been consistently good even after transporting it home from the restaurant. I bet eating at the restaurant would be even better. My husband is a fan of their bibimbap rice bowls. One day, we'll find a time to dine in. Gumii gets five shiny stars for being a humble "mom n pop" place that serves Korean food made with love.

This small restaurant in a strip mall has great food! It was well prepared, fresh and just like my mom used to cook. We especially liked the japchae and bulgogi. It was definitely worth the hour drive to get here! The owner, Dale, was very kind and thoughtful. He served us with warm hospitality.

Tried out this new Korean spot, and it's kind of a fast casual vibe! I got the kimchi jiggae, and it came with rice and side dishes. They don't have tap water oddly so you have to purchase a bottle.

Our go to lunch place in south naperville. Menu is on the smaller side however you won't be disappointed as everything is made from scratch. We normally order chicken Bibimbap(hot bowl) or the Dolsot Bibimbop. The pork Bulgogi is also very tasty. They also have vegetarian and lighter dishes for the health conscious consumer(tofu or seafood stew). Service is very good and restaurant was clean. Highly recommend, Thank you

When in Naperville and craving some fast casual Korean food, then Gumii is your place! Their gluten-free options are very limited... so I did not have many choices, so I went with what I could... which was the Bibimbap with Chicken. It was fantastic! And the sides were really tasty as well! The cashier was very knowledgeable on which appetizers/entrees/sauces had gluten, so I am extremely appreciative of that! I really wish they offered more gluten-free options because this was one of the better bibimbap bowls that I have enjoyed! It's also worth noting that the portion size was more than enough for me after not eating on a long flight from Phoenix and drive out from O'hare to Naperville! Gluten-free rating: **TWO STARS** Overall rating: *****FIVE STARS*****

Second time here. This time I order regular rice bowel. It cools down pretty fast, so if you eat slow it's getting cold towards the end. I will order the sizzling bowel. The taste of the mixture is best bibimbap I have tried in Lisle and Naperville area. Worth coming another time for soup.

    Scallion pancakes with seafood

This is an excellent mom and pop shop located in Naperville. It's very close to the AMC movie theater and is an awesome choice for lunch or dinner before watching a movie. The owners were very friendly and attentive. We went for lunch and it wasn't busy. We ordered scallion pancakes (added seafood for an extra cost) and gumii bulgogi. The bulgogi automatically comes with rice and sides. Pricing was reasonable for the area. The pancakes were crispy, soft, and easy to cut. They had a good amount of seafood in them as you can tell from the picture. Flavor was on point. Bulgogi was nicely cooked, tender meat, and savory. There is an ample amount of parking available.

The first thing you notice about this restaurant is how open and clean it is. You won't feel suspicious about the sanitation of the food served here. I can't believe I've only tried this restaurant now. I ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap: you can get this with beef, tofu, chicken, or seafood. I had it with the chicken. I asked for more vegetables and less rice as well and they were super accommodating! I was pleasantly surprised at how colorful and cute the dish looked. It tasted super good too!! It was slightly oily and the rice didn't make a crust on the sides of the pot which I was a little disappointed about, but I think it might've been because I was impatient and stirred my dish. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place. I will be back to have more bibimbap and try the soups too!

Teriyaki Bulgogi - Tofu ... delicious!!!

It had some crispy outside layers and was filled with chewy seafood inside. Chap jae noodles- not bad. Well seasoned but quantities were a bit on the low end for the price. New Korea Garden is full of traditional dishes as well as modern takes. Has options for a few diets. The prices are pretty good and not crazy expensive like at many Asian and Korean places. Came at lunch. It's not an impressive looking place. That's the worst that can be said about this restaurant. Kind of a boring atmosphere. The food was pretty good though so whatever. It's about $14 for an entree. Maybe that sounds like a lot, but you get a lot. Entrees are mostly meaty with beef or seafood, but you can get tofu instead. They can make most of these okay for vegetarians. Each of us got the Spicy Noodle. This is buckwheat noodles in hot sauce. Additionally. this came with lots of appetizers. There was kimchi, miso soup, and lots more. For sure this is one of the best options in town for Asian. It's authentic, but it's suitable for American tastes. There's plenty of choices for meat eaters, and also many that can be made for vegans and vegetarians.

I loved our AYCE Korean bbq dinner at Seocho Garden. I was craving kbbq (and not from a chain…read morerestaurant but a friendly family-owned type of establishment) with a spread of banchan and lots of red meat. We found this spot in Lisle and headed straight there. We were 2 adults doing the AYCE ($40/per person). This meal set included choice of unlimited meat, banchan, rice, fluffy egg, veggie pancake, and certain salads. Other items were à la carte like their cold noodles ($5) and lettuce to wrap your meat or kimchi jigae, if you wanted to supplement the basic set. The food was so fresh. The banchan tasted like it was made by my friend's mom (highest compliment), and the meat was delicious. We chose bulgogi, and garlic marinated beef and an unmarinated one. There is a warning that they would charge if there were too many leftovers, so we were careful not to over-indulge since we were just 2 people. I absolutely LOVED the cold noodles. The soup was slightly sweet, buckwheat noodles were so chewy as intended (I was able to eat this without cutting it out with scissors) and included a half hard-boiled egg, slice of Korean pear, and slivers of cucumber. I would come back just for this dish. I was tempted to get the kimchi jigae but knew I wouldn't have room, and also it was sweltering hot outside, in the middle of summer. The service was friendly and quick. We came on the early side, around 6pm so the place was not packed yet with larger dinner parties. Our cups were kept filled with water and we were checked on frequently; our grill was cleaned as needed. This is a spot where I'd love to bring my parents when they visit the burbs (frame of reference is that they love San Soo Gab San in North Park). On the inside of the restaurant, there were tons of 4x6 print outs of customers over the years. I loved the family-friendly aspect of Seocho Garden. They have clearly been a staple for kbbq in the community. Four shining stars. We'll be back!

However, Seocheo Garden is the closest to what I remember while living there. I find the food to be delicious and reasonable price. The service is perfect because I will admit, the button is genius instead of also being interrupted by servers. The restaurant isn't fancy but it is designed to be simple since it is about the food and having time with friends and family to talk. The all you can eat is worth the price, however, the minimum is three meats to order for the table so I found two people isn't enough since they pile on the meat. 3-4 people is perfect! I will continue to go here!
