I have been coming to Seocheo Garden for years now. I lived in Korea for a while and at times miss the cuisine. However, Seocheo Garden is the closest to what I remember while living there. I find the food to be delicious and reasonable price. The service is perfect because I will admit, the button is genius instead of also being interrupted by servers. The restaurant isn't fancy but it is designed to be simple since it is about the food and having time with friends and family to talk. The all you can eat is worth the price, however, the minimum is three meats to order for the table so I found two people isn't enough since they pile on the meat. 3-4 people is perfect! We brought my mother-in-law to Seocho Garden for her birthday lunch since she's a big fan of Korean food. The owner was very pleasant and wished her a happy birthday as she seated us. The bonchon dishes came out very quickly and we went with the all you can eat bbq menu, along with a couple soups that my mom wanted to try. Pajeon (Korean pancake) was included with the ayce menu, very crispy and fresh. The meat was high quality; we ended up with multiple orders of kalbi, bulgogi, and samgyupsal (pork belly). The owner made conversation with us and checked in us to ensure everything was great, she was also very happy that my wife loves Korean food and noticed that we are pregnant and to keep feeding our baby lots of kimchi! Great AYCE kbbq option for those that don't want to drive all the way to Schaumburg or Niles. You can basically ask for anything during AYCE - meats on menu, garlic cloves, any banchan, onion, mushrooms, sauce, veggies and wraps, etc. It won't be obvious what all is available because staff is busy running around but you just have to ask and they will bring your request over. Ambiance is composed of typical dinner sounds and not excessively loud music. Meat was good, seafood pancake could've used a bit more seafood, wraps and AYCE parts were plentiful and kept coming. It's been about 10 years since I've been here at Seocho Garden in Lisle. I don't know if it's the same owner but the lady server is still not too friendly but the guy server is still nice so nothing has really changed. That's why I took away 1 star. But it doesn't really stop me from coming because the food is still yummy. It is a $40 per person all you can eat Korean BBQ with plenty of delicious side dishes and meats to choose from. You can also have 1 noodle per person and my girlfriend picked their spicy cold buckwheat noodle and she said it was delicious and my cold buckwheat noodle was amazing! The broth was soooo good! I know you would say why would you eat noodles at an AYCE buffet but I have been CRAVING some cold noodles and it was chewy and delicious and just amazing! They didn't have lettuce which I was a little disappointed so we wrap our meat in it but the guy server compensated us with spicy scallion instead and that was just as good. Is it expensive? I really don't think so if you can eat bc nowadays you can't leave a restaurant for 2 without spending over $100. We went on a Tuesday night and the place was not busy to start. We did the all you can eat Korean BBQ. As the evening went on more people came in. The staff was not super friendly, but very attentive to our needs. It was definitely a laid back atmosphere. The food was pretty good for an all you can eat place. I believe ayce is like $40 now. It used to be cheaper. This place is never really busy. For ayce kbbq in Lisle/Downers Grove, it's solid. It definitely helps fill the void if you don't want to drive to Niles and Arlington Heights. The servers are consistently coming around to switch our trays, ask if you want more sides, etc. I'm definitely had my fill of meat. I left wanting for nothing! The beef was very tasty! Prices have gone up a bit since before the pandemic. For our group of 8, it averaged out to about $52 per person. It's a bit steep for the overall experience. Overall solid 4/5 stars. If you have a food monster that won't be satisfied with anything less than AYCE BBQ, then you will be well served here. Located in a little strip mall in Lisle, this is an old school Korean BBQ spot that serves up bonchon and the meats. The meat is AYCE, but extra rice and sides is extra. $40 is quite a bit so you better come hungry. Service was mostly friendly and accommodating. Very poor service, which was slow and unattentive. The quality of pork belly was thin, so by the time it was cooked, it was like thin bacon. The bulgogi beef did not look like fresh meat. Have been here twice and both times the service and food were both pretty good. Once they forgot one of our drinks, but we got it the next time they were around. They have a variety of sides, the meat is always fresh and plentiful. Our favorites are the beef bulgogi, chicken bulgogi and the marinated short ribs. This time we also tried the mushrooms, which were really good, too. They are happy to come and do refills of anything you want, including their yummy radish sides. We were greeted by a friendly server who brought us to our table. We did the ayce bbq. Banchan was plentiful and tasty, was great for eating with the meat to cut through the grease. Meat quality was good and well marbled--it was tender and delicious! While it seems pricy at $40 per adult, my husband and I thought it was worth it as ordering a la carte at some other restaurants can easily be $20 or more per dish of meat and we ordered 5 meats and a cold noodle and we were very full. Omg amazing! Still a gem since I was last here over 10 years ago! We did the AYCE Korean bbq and we were only allowed to choose 3 meats at a time. I was fine with that. The sizes are large. The marinade is AHMAaaziinNG!! I LOVE their food..the beef bulgogi was the best!! They had some sides and they were all okay... I wish they had the sweet potato side though. The male server we had who kept changing our grill and making sure we were okay was so kind! The environment was comfortable. It seems like a family owned restaurant, and I fully support that! Service is always key with these types of places where they're constantly changing your grill and making sure your meats are there, your sides dishes are full, your used empty plates are taken away, and they delivered. We have been coming to this place before pandemic with friends and today, 08.09.20 is our first time after the restrictions. Definitely everything went downhill after the lock down. Their waitresses and/or servers were just plain rude, wherein they should be thankful that people still choose to dine in here. Everything was sticky- tables, chairs, menu holder and grill knob and even the check holder. One good thing tho is that they have sanitizers at the entrance. The quality of their meat definitely not like it used to be. We ordered pork belly, marinated short ribs, prime beef shorts ribs and beef brisket and were all chewy and came frozen like ice brick. Beef brisket was the only meat manageable to eat. I am thinking, it could be the meat they had prior to lockdown. The 2 stars were mainly for the side dish and the pankcake. And it is not what you get what you paid for because it was not cheap. $30 per person and totally not worth it. If ever we had to come back to this place, it will probably be because of friends. I wish that I could give this place more stars but at about $40 pp, and the AWFUL service...I just cannot. I started going here years ago with my sister, And I loved the food and the service wasn't exceptional but not bad. Over the years it has gotten so bad, I don't even want to ask for refills on water, soda or sauces because they get really bothered. I guess the reason they don't care is because the restaurant tacks on 18% gratuity for horrible service. The waitress had the nerve to ask me why I needed more sauce? Because I want it, that's why. I mean really? This last time I went, the server was so rude I found myself being snippy with her which made my dining experience that much worse. I took 6 other people so my bill was over $400 and left me wishing I went to McDonalds. The food quality has deteriorated and they also no longer even give you lettuce for wraps because "it's too wasteful" well maybe you should look at not topping your awful wait staff so much and perhaps you can afford lettuce wraps. I am so over this place and all my friends and family that go there will also stop going there because of this. I am also posting this on Next Door so people are made aware. Sure, if you're understaffed, you have somewhat of an excuse but I literally stood there for 10 minutes at the host stand watching employees walk right by me without even greeting me or letting me know they will be with me soon. Then my friends showed up and we waited another 10 minutes just standing there like idiots. We finally got seated and of course no one came for like 10 more minutes with a menu and another 10 minutes to take our order. We ordered water and tea and they never came so halfway into our meal, we flagged them down. They gave us water and only one tea (instead of 3). They were out or something. The food was pretty good. We got an order of beef bulgogi and 2 orders of chandel?? (sp?) and what we thought was a seafood pancake but we think was some kind of vegetable pancake with shrimp. Though the food was good, the service was horrible, and the price was ridiculous. It was $45/person in the end... we might as well have gotten the all you can eat for $40/person... The food is decent here as it's really the only Korean restaurant in the area, however, if you can afford driving a little further to Niles or Schaumburg for Korean food, you'll get way better service and food that's just as good, if not even better. We had 2 servings of short ribs and the KBBQ experience is honestly subpar. The first issue was that they seated us right next to a table of 12 extremely loud and buzzed adults. My dad and I could barely hear ourselves over their boisterous merrymaking. The restaurant could've seated us and the other small group further away from the loud noises. Secondly, they didn't ask us if we wanted any drinks, and the appetizer came out after the entree. When we asked for the menu, the server rudely retorted to my dad saying, "You said you we're going to grill." So what if he changes his mind? She was again so abrasive and unfriendly towards the end of the visit. Also, there was constant miscommunication between the two servers. Thirdly, most KBBQ restaurants will at least start the first round of grilling for you. (Trust me, I've been to too many Korean BBQ restaurants). Our server simply dropped off the meat and assumed I'd do everything. I usually cook for my table and I get Korean culture and hierarchies and all, but where is your customer service? Fourthly, I watched as the server ignored another table as she was collecting the payment for the 12-member table. She didn't come back to visit that couple until about ten minutes later. So we recently came back to Seocho Garden after not eating here for years. Twice so far in 2023. I read early reviews that said people were turned off by service/staff. Well I have to say that we were surprised how good the service was recently. We've were taken care of by 2 servers, a man and a woman. Both were attentive and even smiled and greeted our young daughters. Sometimes when it is busy, I think people don't realize that there is a call button at the end of their table if they need service, refills on meats or drinks. The food was excellent. They are not stingy on serving sizes at all, and the quality and taste of the meat is fresh, especially the marinated kalbi. The Joomuluk (sp?) Is also very good and you can see the marbling in the thicker cuts of meat and is very flavorful. The banchan or side dishes are also good compared to other similar style korean bbq restaurants. Don't be afraid to order more of your favorites if you finish them. Overall, I'd say if you we're turned off from previous visits or reviews, give em another chance. They got their stuff together and it's nice to have a good Korean bbq place out in the burbs. read more

We first visited this place on Valentine's Day and came here again in a week lol. The size is really generous! And the taste is good and authentic. Love the free vegetable pancake which we finished before I got the chance to take a photo of it. They are very friendly to my baby girl and gave her a cute water cup with straw to drink from. I was going to order more food but they had closed the kitchen and they never told us they would not take our order after 8pm or that they closed the kitchen at that time. Good Korean bbq in the neighborhood. The bbq tables fill up much faster than the regular tables so you may have to wait for bbq if you come at a popular time. The all you can eat is a great deal. We got a great selection of banchan at the beginning (anchovies and fish cakes were good). The seafood pancake also came out quickly and was fresh and delicious. We got the bulgogi and the kalbi. Both were good but the bulgogi was probably my favorite. Ask for some chili paste to dip the meat in. I liked that they had hot tea and a choice of soup or noodles for the all you can eat. I don't understand the 18% gratuity. I think I read a comment on there that it's when you have a large party, but we had a party of 2 for the all you can eat for $28 and was charged the 18% gratuity. It is a gas grill and not a charcoal grill. The lady serving us had left the flame on so low, our food was not seared properly. When we asked to turn the flame on higher, she dumped all of the Bulgogi onto the grill and said it has to be cooked all at once. When we asked to change the grill, another lady said that the grill is hard to clean and turned the flame back down. It was a rather typical experience in a Korean BBQ restaurant in my opinion. You, the patron is never right. We ordered the Bulgogi, which we thought was too sweet. The Kalibi was good. Well marinated. And Pork Belly was thin and had a little bit of cartilage in there which gave it a bit of a weird crunch factor. I think the meats were good, but they missed the seat and charcoal flavor. Their seasoned mushrooms were delicious. You also get to choose 1 of 3 soups. We did the one with bean paste and tofu, it was too salty in my opinion. There was a complimentary vegetable pancake, which I didn't care for. I thought it was flavorless. Loved the many banchans they provided. If you are in the South West suburbs and absolutely need your Korean BBQ fix, this place is decent for that craving. I had a wonderful meal here. I went at lunch and they have many specials for around $15. They served me a vegetable pancake appetizer that was so fluffy and delicious! Also provided were like 9 little saucers of different homeade pickles, like kimchi, cucumbers, some kind of savory shaved tofu, many delightful little pickles of different flavors. I ate them separately and sometimes with a bite of my food for extra crunch. I ordered a chap chae appetizer and a hot stone bowl lunch. It was all delicious, the portions were generous. I had several containers of leftover and ate tasty Korean food for dinner, breakfast and lunch again the next day. The waitresses were so helpful and attentive! I've been here a few times now - once before I went to Korea, twice after. I didn't find any Korean food satisfying in a long time after visiting Korea, however, this is a restaurant that I'll continue to visit in the long run. I usually don't do AYCE because a lot of places rips you off with the portion and quality, but this place did not. They took the time to make sure there were enough sides dishes for how ever many people you have. The service is also quick and friendly. I never felt unwelcomed even when I went with some high-maintence group of people. When I ordered take-out, I was given a delicious cup of hot tea without asking. As for the food, I looooooved almost everything I ordered! The seasoning is perfect and they help you cook the meat if you look like you don't know what you're doing and everything is getting burnt The meat is always tender. I've tried almost all their spicy side dishes and kimchi jjigae, and I love how it's not too spicy. The only thing I disliked so far is their samkyupsal and seolungtang.
