Joyyee used to be my go-to spot for boba about 5-10 ish years ago when it was one of the only boba shops in Naperville. The quality is more or less the same as it was back then and is just generally average. I usually get the taro or caramel milk teas, which you definitely can't go wrong with. One thing I did notice is the prices have increased dramatically (mine was around $7). I'd say it's ok to go here if you happen to be in the area, but so many other places have opened in Naperville at a better price point for the same quality so this wouldn't be my first pick.

"I came to this location one time but it was decent food. The boba tea was tasty and pudding was fresh. I ordered bulgogi with rice and chicken/shrimp with rice in pineapple. Portions were sufficient for two people sharing. Service was good, they got our food out fast. Prices are good with some increases due to covid - supply and demand. Adequate parking. It was easy to find a table to sit down and eat. The menu has a vast amount of different dishes separated by sections.

The food here is pretty mediocre here. It's ok for a fast meal in a pinch but it's not good quality here. Out of all the times I've been here, The service is unprofessional to say the least. Quality- the hou fun was very salty and the vegetables are tough to bite into. The meat was also chewy so it takes a lot of chewing to get through it. The shrimp fried rice is standard....Nothing special. Quantity- an ok amount comes for the price. You will get full for a low cost. Atmosphere- I hate the chairs and small spacing between tables. Not enough personal space or outdoor seating. Service- one time I came here over the weekend to get lunch with a friend and the manager (larger 6'+ asian guy with big belly) would constantly pester us to leave because we overstayed our welcome. His reasoning is because we finished eating and aren't ordering anything else. We were only there for an hour and ordered two dishes and boba. The food/boba was good but the demeanor of the staff ruined our experience. We were asked to leave every 5 minutes after 30 minutes of being there. Next, they declined to give us water and then they thrusted the checks in our face while we were still eating. When we paid, we sat there a bit longer to finish the food and it was then we heard the manager start complaining about us not leaving in another language (cantonese) to the waiters. Because of this poor service, I left no tip for the manager which pissed him off so he forced us out of the restaurant. There was also no line outside so I don't understand what the rush was. We weren't rude or loud at all. We sat at a small table and just chatted while eating food. There were people there that were much louder than us but also understandably paid more. Regardless, this is no way to treat paying customers.

Fast service!! A gigantic menu with pics in the front and delicious drinks and food!! Love the place!! The garlic noodles were really flavorful and the drinks are so bright and pretty! Nice bright clean look inside and sunny yellow chairs.

An incredibly good place for strip mall Asian cuisine. It's not quite authentic but it's kind of close enough. Joy Yee Noodle has a few locations, including this one in Naperville. It has many favorites such as the bubble tea and has pretty good food. They have the best prices with the lunch specials. Come in at lunch and save a bit. It's when we came in the last time here. The menu is full of typical Americanized favorites, but don't let it be a turnoff. A lot of great stuff is here. The best items may actually be the teas. I most like the Apple Cooler With Lychee Jelly. It's about $6 for most teas. They also have smoothies if you want something to drink even colder than that. Both of us got the Orange Tofu lunch special the last time here. It's about $10 for a lot. This comes with a few vegetable potstickers and rice. It had a moderate spice to it. This was a nice amount of food for a lunch. Best time is at lunch where you get the best prices for the most amount. It has locations in Chinatown and UIC, which are good too if those are convenient. They mostly have the same menu at these.

Joy Yee is a good spot. I've visited the Chinatown location many time before, and this western suburban location has definitely made it into our dine out rotation. Joy Yee I've always found to be a good value to the money. Portions are generous and you will go home with leftovers. Whether you're in the mood for Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Korean, or Japanese, Joy Yee has a bit of everything on the menu. In addition to a large menu, they do also offer an impressive selection of drinks (milk teas, fruit teas, and smoothes). My personal favorites here are the udon noodles, any of the lemongrass meats, and their coffee milk tea. Service is quick and tables seem to move swiftly even during peak hours. Plenty of choices. Plenty of food. 'Til next time, cheers!

Left to right: beef fried rice (with a left over 001. Crab Rangoon), spicy beef stir fry, sweat and sour chicken, and pan fried noodles.

I had Joy Yee in down town Chinatown Chicago and it was so so good! The dishes always come out fresh hot and soap fast: service is always good! This location was no different! Was in town for a week and met up with some old friends! We ordered sweet and sour chicken, beef fried rice, crab rangoons, pan fried noodles and spicy beef stir fry. All the food was perfectly cook and so so delicious! Especially the pan fried noodles! Crispy and fresh! We ordered boba on the way out and it was the icing on the cake! Will be back!

We came here for dinner one night when we were craving pho. The flavor of the pho was really something. It's seasoned just right. The portion sizes are very large which was really nice. The service was fast and friendly. There is not an abundance of ambiance here, it is bright and open but feels very clean and still private. We will come here again for sure.

Joy Yee in Chicago was one of my favorite places to go to when I first came to Chicago. I have branched out quite a bit since then, but I'll never forget my first love for Joy Yee. This location is still the same quality and service but in the burbs. Of course you have to get their fruit drinks and teas. I love the brown sugar milk tea and a good mango lychee fruit freeze with grass jelly. When it comes to food, there's so much to choose from, so it really comes down to your preferences. They have chinese, thai, and some other asian cuisines, but Joy Yee is Chinese at heart. Try something different than the American Chinese food! If you have taste buds, you won't regret it.

Are they open on Tuesdays or no? Their website & Yelp says Yes but Google says no.

Does anyone know if the drinks are made with regular milk or has dairy?

Depends on the drink! But if you order bubble milk tea they only use regular 2% milk.

I ordered online for carry out and the platform was easy to navigate. Once my husband and I arrived at the resto we were greeted by a very kind staff member. Our food wasn't ready but within 5 mins of us being there it was good to go. We tried the wonton soup and chicken dumplings app. Both were on the bland side. Normally I'm used to wonton soup also having noodles and theirs does not. Flavors were OK, felt like both dishes were missing spices. Everything was cooked perfectly though. Maybe we ordered the wrong items from here and need to try others instead.

In my experience, this signifies either the place was going to be a shithole to pass up, or it was a serious place to eat, then get out and go somewhere with an atmosphere. Happy to say J's (IMHO) is a serious place to eat. No-nonsense, direct and to the point. When I walked in, all those common chairs I mentioned were stacked upside down on the tables in the way that places do when they are closed. The taciturn fellow who worked there assured me they were indeed open, and explained they had just finish washing the floor. Please dont read any of this as negative-the best Chinese places I've ever been have looked like this-and if you've paid attention to the Travel/Food shows on the TeeVee, the joints in China itself are pretty much the same. On to the food, know this place is a Serious REAL-DEAL Chinese resto. I didn't notice if there were "Occidental" Chinese-type dishes on the carte, (primarily 'cos I wasn't looking for them). What I saw looked yum, and had a hard time making choices, even though I had read the menu multiple times and thought I know what I was going to order in advance. Confessionately, this is a chief feature for my tortured dining self-It's a wonder I even get fed in restaurants (especially the great ethnic ones), due to option anxiety. I zeroed in on "Street Noodles" for starters-wouldn't you? Then went to "Cold Beef Shank" for entreé. The Noodles were fab as was the Shank. The noodles were in a broth. with some hunks of bok choy and ground meat on top. Hearty, still light. The shank had a thin sauce complimenting but not obscuring the beefiness. One bugaboo: the Shank needed a bit of seasoning, and I wasn't going to use soy sauce, as I believed that would have marred the subtle flavors of the Beef. I asked for a salt shaker. It arrived, and I was a little taken back, 'cos it appeared it hadn't been washed in a while, and the salt inside was caked. It occurred to me this condition was present due to the non-use of said shaker. I don't think I've ever asked for a salt shaker in a Chinese resto. I pulled a toothpick out of my "Murse" and broke up the caked NaCl. Applying same to the pieces of Shank, the flavor bloomed and I was a happy boy. Bring some salt packets along when you visit "J's", maybe. The fellow who was waiter and cashier was a "western" fellow, whom I engaged and turned out to be quite an experienced foodie. some pleasant conversation indeed. I'd rate it on par, or even better, than San Francisco's Burmese options. Service was much friendlier here, that's for sure! Tawk was a delightful host...making jokes along with dish recommendations. Sadly, we gobbled up the food before I remembered to take photos. D'oh! I highly recommend the Tea Leaf salad--a Burmese staple and a real treat if you haven't had it before. Very flavorful and just a hint of spice (don't eat the sliced peppers if you're spice-adverse, but we devoured them). We also had Shan Noodles (B8). I also recommend that. A mild to medium spice level and very tasty. Generous portions. Two dishes was enough for two though I wish we had tried the spring rolls or samosas too--we might have had leftovers if we had! We started with the triple delight pan fried dumplings and these were definitely a highlight. The bottoms had that perfect golden crisp while the tops stayed soft and chewy. Each one was juicy and flavorful, and you could tell they were made fresh. The chicken mini juicy buns were also really good. The wrappers were soft and delicate with a nice burst of broth inside, making them super comforting and easy to keep going back for. The pork belly gua bao was another standout. The bun was soft and fluffy, and the pork belly was tender and savory with a nice balance from the toppings. It was simple but really well executed. For noodles, we had the beef shank noodle soup with both beef shank and braised beef, and this dish was packed with protein. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the broth had a rich, savory depth that made it feel really hearty without being too heavy. We also tried the biang biang noodles. On their own, they were a little mild in flavor, but once we added some of the seasonings from the table like chili oil and sauces, it really brought the dish to life. I actually appreciated that you can customize it to your taste since they give you plenty of options. We got bubble tea as well, which was just okay. The flavor was good, but the boba itself wasn't as chewy as I usually like. Overall, everything felt fresh, portions were generous, and the pricing was very reasonable for what you get. The cozy atmosphere and variety on the menu make it a great spot to come back to and try more. Definitely a solid go to if you're in the area and craving dumplings and noodles.
