Got some carryout from this Chinese restaurant in Aurora. It for sure is a pretty basic place. Wok Inn is one of those restaurants, with a counter to order at, along with a few sticky ass tables. Kind of lame as far as the menu goes. They don't even have tofu like any basic Chinese restaurant which is mind-boggling. Came for lunch. It only had one table occupied. There aren't even that many tables. Has a lot of the typical Americanized Chinese stuff on the menu. It's about $10 for the Vegetable Sorgum. Basically it's just a bunch of stir fried vegetables that aren't even cooked that good. That's their idea of a vegetarian option apparently, so it's pretty slim pickings to be honest. Has to be one of the lamer choices to get lunch. It's located on Farnsworth Avenue in a crappy looking strip mall. They're closed Sundays. read more

The $3 hot and sour soup was pretty big and tasted good. The $9 Hunan Chicken comes with baby corn, mushroom, green pepper, onion and broccoli in a mildly spicy sauce. I don't have a Chinese cuisine restaurant near my home. I had to go to Aurora for an appointment and on a whim looked up Chinese food pickup and found Wok Inn. I was not disappointed by any means. I ordered a meal of sesame chicken, which came with an egg roll and rice. I upgraded to the pork fried rice which was delicious just like the rest of the meal. I decided to get the egg drop soup on the side which was delicious. I would go back any day of the week because this is honestly the best Chinese food I can remember having, ever!!! read more

Working from home since I don't want to share my sickness with the office... I wanted some soup and figure a Chinese place was the best option so I didn't have to leave the house! I wanted to try a new place, but now I think I should've stuck with the old place... The Wonton Soup was just some water with scallions and lettuce (?) floating in it. Yea, lettuce. Maybe they were out of cabbage. Either way... The wontons were falling apart which didn't matter since they were mostly wonton wrapper anyway. The small amount of meat that was inside of them was about as big as the tip of my finger. The soup was really bland. I could have just heated up some water from the tap for cheaper than I paid for this soup. My eyes being bigger than my stomach (sick and all) I also ordered Mushroom Fried Rice & Pot Stickers. The mushrooms in the fried rice were canned which was disappointing. The pot stickers were just ok. The meat needed more seasoning as it was just bland and there was a lot of water in side of the dough that made them a little soggy. Maybe (like our regular place) this place has just been around for too long and they are letting their standards slip... A LOT! Two stars was generous since I was hungry. I get food from the wok inn about 5-6 a month. Their lunch specials are priced at &6.95, the food is healthy, priced right, and the service is fast. You get the lunch specials fast like 10 minutes. There is a McDonald's next to the to the wok inn, and it is not healthy, and it takes longer to get it. The price at McDonald's is more than the wok inn. Try the wok inn, and you will be sold on it. read more

I'll start by saying that I patronize this restaurant for many, many years however tonight I decided to dine in with my two young nieces. Today's visit will be my last time here. I found out that they charge a service charge for dining in the restaurant. $1 per person is the service charge. It is not posted anywhere in the restaurant, they do not mention it when you are seated and being served nor is it mentioned on the menu. Check your receipts. If you decide to tip on top of the service charge that is your prerogative but be formed. If they would have posted the service charge or told me about it I would feel differently about it. Stopped here on my way home from work after reading the few reviews on yelp. Apparently the crab rangoon are "to die for"?! Wrong! They were too small and over tough. Also had the General Tso Chicken combo with fried rice and an egg roll. Eating the chicken was like chewing on tree bark. The fried rice smelled and tasted like cigarette smoke. I used to live in a heavily Asian section of Los Angeles so I've eaten a lot of Chinese food. Needless to say, I was really happy to discover a Chinese restaurant down the street from my new place. The first time I went in the woman working the front counter was very cold and unfriendly but I still had high hopes for the food. I purchased Hunan Chicken and a side of Crab Rangoon and both were terrible. The Rangoon had a strange taste that I'm not sure how to describe and the leftover portion of the Hunan Chicken eventually found its way into my trash can, which says a lot because I'm not one to waste leftovers. However, I'm a reasonable person and still wanted to give the restaurant another chance before writing them off. I went back on another occasion and purchased the Chicken Lo Mein and Hot & Sour Soup. The Lo Mein had so much chicken in it that you couldn't taste anything other than it, and the chicken was dry. The soup wasn't anything to write home about either. On top of that, the restaurant itself doesn't strike me as being very clean (I took my food to go on both occasions) and the staff is exceptionally unfriendly. I've never taken the time to write a review before, but the combination of stunningly bad food and lousy service really made an impression on me. And my wallet. Their prices wouldn't be bad if the food was good, but on both occasions their food quickly found its way to the trash bin. This is the kind of place you don't notice. It's in a teeny-tiny strip mall type place, and it's sort of in the end corner. It's a hidden jem. Now, the service isn't great. I've been going there for years and I don't think I've ever seen them smile, but I keep going for a reason. Their crab rangoon is yummy (I like mine a little heavy on the cream cheese) and their egg rolls have some kind of spice I can't decipher. Is it cinnamon? I'm not sure, but they are good. I haven't tried a lot of different things on their menu because I usually go back to the tried and true, but don't miss out on their shrimp fried rice. read more
