Chef June's Dumplings is such a quaint little spot and made for a really relaxed, enjoyable meal. It wasn't busy when we went, which gave it a calm, low key vibe where you can actually sit and take your time. We started with the triple delight pan fried dumplings and these were definitely a highlight. The bottoms had that perfect golden crisp while the tops stayed soft and chewy. Each one was juicy and flavorful, and you could tell they were made fresh. The chicken mini juicy buns were also really good. The wrappers were soft and delicate with a nice burst of broth inside, making them super comforting and easy to keep going back for. The pork belly gua bao was another standout. The bun was soft and fluffy, and the pork belly was tender and savory with a nice balance from the toppings. It was simple but really well executed. Got dinner pick-up from here and was not disappointed. The food was pipping hot and the flavors did not miss. This is legit Szechuan food! We got the dumplings, scallion pancakes and the Dan Dan noodles. For the dumplings, the filling was juicy and full of big chunks of pork. I prefer the boiled version vs. pan fried. The skin was a little on the thinner side but still good. The Dan Dan noodles had a nice numbing spice and had a lot of ground pork. The scallion pancakes were cut into perfectly snackable sizes and were crispy and fragrant. Would highly recommend getting takeout from here or dine in. I also ordered Schezaun beef noodle with beef shank. It was pretty good but I tried to add some chilli oil to it and it didn't add flavor just a little more heat. I would have liked a bit of salt or garlic in it but otherwise it was cool. Again, fresh noodle versus instant is always ideal. We had two kinds of Gua bao (pork belly is definitely the winner), I had mapo tofu with meat with steamed rice (from the lunch menu) and my husband has tonkotsu ramen. First time here with a huge party of 18. Luckily we make reservations before arrived as the restaurant has very limited capacity and we arrived in an hour before closing time. There is only one server working at that time, so I took the initiative to take down 18 people's order then pass it to her to make her work easier. The food came out around 15-20mins after order. We got there tonight a Monday night at 6pm and it was quite slow but people starts to show up soon after. Hubby and I ordered the Szechuan won ton and it was spicy but in the Mala way so it's not too spicy but it numb your tongue perfectly! It was so good. Then we shared the Dan Dan Mein and same thing. It is a bit spicy, no soup with thick Shanghai noodles, peanuts, pork, bean sprouts and some scallions. It was just enough spice to make you say ahhhhhhh oh so good. We also shared a beef shank noodle soup and this one was NOT spicy. Finally something not spicy because I want to drink the soup and we finished EVERYTHING. Not even a drop of soup is left. A friend and I checked this place out recently. It's a no-frills spot in a little shopping strip, but the food was quite tasty! It wasn't crowded at lunchtime on the day we came. We ordered pork mini juicy buns (their name for soup dumplings/Xiao long bao), chicken pan fried potstickers, and as an appetizer the pork belly gua bao. I really liked the flavor and texture of the gua bao; the filling combined pork belly, scallion, carrots and peanut for a varied taste, and the bun part was pillowy without being gummy. The potstickers were tasty and crispy with a lot of filling. The soup dumplings were savory and flavorful; it's just the first time I've never been given a spoon to eat this dish! (Usually the dumplings are scalding hot inside so you don't down them in one: you hold the dumpling in a spoon, make a hole in it to slurp out the soup, then eat the dumpling.) So that was awkward. From the front of the menu, it looks like their hours were updated. We finally decided to come to Chef June's after it came highly recommended by a friend of ours. The store itself is pretty nondescript and in a strip mall. The decor inside also is plain. There's a good amount of seating but not great for big groups. We came at 5pm on a Sunday so we were able to be seated immediately. We ordered the Pan-Fried Triple Delight dumplings as well as Pan-Fried Pork and Napa Cabbage dumplings. I wished for a bit more flavor in the fillings. The sauce we got was black vinegar. We also ordered the Biang Biang Noodle. The noodles themselves were very good. I had hoped for some more bok choy as we only got half of a baby bok choy. Chef June's Dumplings makes handmade noodles and offers some solid Chinese food in Westmont. I love a good Xiao Long Bao (XLB) and the soup in these give me that heart warming, comforting feel. I love that they also have Taiwanese beef noodle soup. This soup uses homemade noodles, and they're good. The noodles would have been perfect if they were cooked less, but that's just me being a perfectionist. The broth was serviceable as it's missing the typical body that fills out this bowl. Service was friendly, fast, and clean. Price is about right, and this spot is located in a plaza with plenty of parking available. All in all, Chef June's Dumplings seems to specialize in their namesake and setting your expectations there would be the way to go. read more

I thought the potstickers could have been filled a little more, but the sear was good. The soup dumplings were fresh, plump and juicy. The beef shank noodle soup was nicely done. The noodles were never-ending long and there was plenty of beef and fresh veggies. The standout dish for me was the biang biang noodles. These were awesome. Loved the flavor and it wasn't overwhelmingly spicy. I loved the wider noodles and they were not too think. The tomatoes really lightened it up and and the peanuts gave it a nice crunch.
