It wasn't busy when we went, which gave it a calm, low key vibe where you can actually sit and take your time. We started with the triple delight pan fried dumplings and these were definitely a highlight. The bottoms had that perfect golden crisp while the tops stayed soft and chewy. Each one was juicy and flavorful, and you could tell they were made fresh. The chicken mini juicy buns were also really good. The wrappers were soft and delicate with a nice burst of broth inside, making them super comforting and easy to keep going back for. The pork belly gua bao was another standout. The bun was soft and fluffy, and the pork belly was tender and savory with a nice balance from the toppings. It was simple but really well executed. For noodles, we had the beef shank noodle soup with both beef shank and braised beef, and this dish was packed with protein. We were heading to another dumpling house in the area when we passed by Chef June's. We commented that the other place didn't have much seating, so we decided to try Chef June's instead. There were plenty of tables available in what appeared to be a typical asian restaurant. The food did not disappoint. Both the noodle soup and dumplings were great. Chef June's Dumplings has been on my radar for a few weeks, and was outstanding! Small venue with short wait times for tables during the 6-8 pm Saturday seatings. Plentiful staff bustling about with food, beverages, were checking in with diners. Food is made fresh to order, so expect a short wait for your dishes. The portions were perfect for generous sharing. We started with a scallion pancake, and it actually was a rock star in our meal. The pancake was light and flaky, with the right amount of chewiness, and little surprise of sour tang of flavor. The dumpling we chose were pan fried with a filling of pork, mushroom, and Napa. The dumpling dough was amazing, tasty, stretchy and held up to bites. The filling was plentiful and lightly seasoned. Our second dish was hand made noodles with a sweet and spicy sauce. The noodles were perfect- again just the right chewiness and quite a nice quantity. The sauce had the taste and texture of peanut, maybe with added miso and other seasonings for depth. Our favorite main dish was the eggplant with garlic sauce. Wow! This was a burst of delicious flavor! The eggplant was perfectly prepared with crispy edges and an almost creamy center, and the dark brown-red sauce enveloped each eggplant piece with a rich balanced coating. The flavor was slightly sweet and salty and spicy and garlicky. A little rice underneath ensured that we savored every drop. We enjoyed an unhurried experience in this bustling venue, and ended up with leftovers to savor another day. And next time there are even more dishes to try! read more

I really liked this place. We ordered delivery and they pack well for travel. The tonkotsu was good The broth and sesame oil and could have more depth of flavor but pork was outstanding I do wish there were mushrooms and more toppings. The noodles were fine. The gyoza was strange; not just because it was beef instead of port, but because the beef itself was fairly flavorless but you could really taste the scallion in the best way. The Szechwan was super good. Just just the tongue-burning aspect (which is part of the fun) but the overall flavor. read more

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience. The restaurant seemed poorly organized, the service was slow, and communication with customers was lacking. We ordered delivery via Instacart/uber eats. Two of the dishes were visibly burned and inedible. They even smelled burned. I filed a complaint with Uber Eats including these photos and got an automated message that they wouldn't issue a refund. That is infuriating. But what makes me even more angry is the thought that Chef June's had no problem boxing up those inedible burned items and sending them for my dinner. I'm sure if you were sitting in their restaurant they would never dare put those in front of you because you would tell them to take them back. But they don't mind sending ruined stuff for delivery and I find that to be incredibly rude, selfish, and basically theft- they get my money but I get food that can't be eaten with no recourse to get a refund. read more

Got dinner pick-up from here and was not disappointed. The food was pipping hot and the flavors did not miss. This is legit Szechuan food! We got the dumplings, scallion pancakes and the Dan Dan noodles. For the dumplings, the filling was juicy and full of big chunks of pork. I prefer the boiled version vs. pan fried. The skin was a little on the thinner side but still good. The Dan Dan noodles had a nice numbing spice and had a lot of ground pork. The scallion pancakes were cut into perfectly snackable sizes and were crispy and fragrant. Would highly recommend getting takeout from here or dine in. I ordered chicken dumplings pan fried. The fry on dumpling was nice. The dumpling was a little thicker than I expected but okay as the chicken lacked flavor or maybe a pinch of salt. I also ordered Schezaun beef noodle with beef shank. It was pretty good but I tried to add some chilli oil to it and it didn't add flavor just a little more heat. I would have liked a bit of salt or garlic in it but otherwise it was cool. Again, fresh noodle versus instant is always ideal. Tried going for dinner and all the tables were full with one party waiting ahead of us. No waitlist or policy even with more parties showing up. We were going to wait, but then realized that none of the tables have received their food yet. Staff seemed overwhelmed and there were barely any orders coming out. I could hear several tables complaining about the wait. Given it would probably take another hour for us to get seated and eat, we decided to go somewhere else. Came back the next day for lunch to give them another chance. We arrived around 15 minutes after the posted opening at 11:30am. Doors were locked and the employees inside ignored us standing outside and looking through the doors. It wasn't until I knocked on the glass, someone came and said they'd open at 12:15pm because they "weren't ready yet." My husband and I had lunch at Chef June's recently, and the food was AMAZING! We had two kinds of Gua bao (pork belly is definitely the winner), I had mapo tofu with meat with steamed rice (from the lunch menu) and my husband has tonkotsu ramen. They were all delicious, so we finished everything - not even a drop of soup or grain of rice were left on our plates! The service was fast and friendly. It's a cozy place but plenty of tables. The General Tso's chicken lunch special here was great...while the rice was only so-so, that chicken was on point! The dumplings are why we came here, and the pan fried beef dumplings were tasty but not as strong as some of the ones I've had in Chinatown (Qing Xiang, for example). First time here with a huge party of 18. Luckily we make reservations before arrived as the restaurant has very limited capacity and we arrived in an hour before closing time. There is only one server working at that time, so I took the initiative to take down 18 people's order then pass it to her to make her work easier. The food came out around 15-20mins after order. So we are unable to take photos for dumplings.... The dumplings are damn delicious either boiled dumplings or pan fried dumplings.... Even children also like the taste. A friend and I checked this place out recently. It's a no-frills spot in a little shopping strip, but the food was quite tasty! It wasn't crowded at lunchtime on the day we came. We ordered pork mini juicy buns (their name for soup dumplings/Xiao long bao), chicken pan fried potstickers, and as an appetizer the pork belly gua bao. I really liked the flavor and texture of the gua bao; the filling combined pork belly, scallion, carrots and peanut for a varied taste, and the bun part was pillowy without being gummy. The potstickers were tasty and crispy with a lot of filling. The soup dumplings were savory and flavorful; it's just the first time I've never been given a spoon to eat this dish! (Usually the dumplings are scalding hot inside so you don't down them in one: you hold the dumpling in a spoon, make a hole in it to slurp out the soup, then eat the dumpling.) So that was awkward. A follow up review of Chef June and is it possible that the 2nd time is even better than the first? Holy Moly! We got there tonight a Monday night at 6pm and it was quite slow but people starts to show up soon after. Hubby and I ordered the Szechuan won ton and it was spicy but in the Mala way so it's not too spicy but it numb your tongue perfectly! It was so good. Then we shared the Dan Dan Mein and same thing. It is a bit spicy, no soup with thick Shanghai noodles, peanuts, pork, bean sprouts and some scallions. It was just enough spice to make you say ahhhhhhh oh so good. We also shared a beef shank noodle soup and this one was NOT spicy. Finally something not spicy because I want to drink the soup and we finished EVERYTHING. Not even a drop of soup is left. Chef June's Dumplings makes handmade noodles and offers some solid Chinese food in Westmont. I love a good Xiao Long Bao (XLB) and the soup in these give me that heart warming, comforting feel. I love that they also have Taiwanese beef noodle soup. This soup uses homemade noodles, and they're good. The noodles would have been perfect if they were cooked less, but that's just me being a perfectionist. The broth was serviceable as it's missing the typical body that fills out this bowl. Service was friendly, fast, and clean. Price is about right, and this spot is located in a plaza with plenty of parking available. Update: I was pleased that they got their system down. Service is more efficient, we got sat down and drinks were brought immediately. From the front of the menu, it looks like their hours were updated. We ordered pork with mushrooms and napa dumplings, beef shank and braised beef with spicy broth, and beef shank with non spicy broth. Prices are still fair. You get a good portion. Dumplings are still juicy and full of flavor. Spicy broth is not that spicy but very enjoyable. Beef shank and braised beef are both very tender and delicious.
