The food was very tasty, and the portion sizes were large. I had chicken vegetable fried noodle, and my husband had shrimp ramen and tempura shrimp. The only thing my husband didn't like about his meal was the squid in his ramen. Other than that, we enjoyed our meal. read more

Was worries at first because of the 3 star average review. But it's absolutely more worthy than 3 stars. Ramen size is huge. More than enough to feed a hungry person. Remember to ask for less salt if you prefer lite food. They do have udon option although not on the menu. read more

BIG portions!! The crispy seafood noodles was enough to share and the gomoku ramen bowl was huge. Kind of disappointed in the noodles though. I ordered the Sapporo style - fatter noodles than the chuka. They were a bit soggy. I like mine more chewy. The broth wasn't salty but wasn't very flavorful. My mom had the fried rice- now that was good!! Reasonable prices for what you get, nice clean decor, fast service read more

It's not a fancy place, but they're quick and consistent. My kids like it cause there isn't a long wait and we can finish quickly.

This cute little place was near our air bnb. What a find!!!! The combo plates were HUGE and you got a lot of selections to choose from. My cousin and I got the combo A: mini ramen, 4 gyoza and mochico chicken. My hubby and cousins got the big bowl ramen. Our family of 14 were split up but all our orders all came out with mistake. Excellent pricing!!! The gyoza was on point. The mochico chicken was a little dry but still good. The ramen was decent but I'm comparing it to my fav ramen place in Houston. I still would recommend Ramen Ya. read more

I live 3 mins from this place and only tried it now. Boy have we got a gem for the Hawaii Kai area!!!!! Ordered the Pork Fried Rice which was NOT Greasy and had very good flavors. There's Shrimp, Lop Cheong, and Kim Chee choices too. The wait staff came by later and quiz-ed me on how did the fried rice taste, I said it was great! Our gyoza order gave the 3 of us 2 pieces which again quite tasty. I dipped them in the shoy yu from the table for an even greater taste. The ramen was fine, no complaints! Service was good but we came at 10:30am when it first opened. We took home a doggie bowl of ramen, and the fried rice as the orders were huge. I'm coming back!! and it has FREE parking (Hawaii Kai Towne Center). I posted some photos of what I ate. read more

i am ALWAYS craving ramen ya. their food is always amazingly done; consistent with great flavor. not to mention quick, and reasonably priced. their service is awesome too. theyre nice, offer refills, switch out almost empty sauces with more full ones, but you can tell they try not to bother you too much so you can eat in peace. ((this is the vibe i get.)) the atmosphere is quiet, warm, welcoming. amazing for picky eaters, groups, couples, or people who like to share their dishes. also perfect for people who like to eat solo. i have never tried a dish here that i dont totally love. highly recommend if youre any where near hawaii kai. always my first choice. read more

We live in the area and frequent this restaurant often. The service is always efficient and straight forward but today the waitress was rude and condescending. She took our order with disdain and when I said "excuse me 3 times" she barely responded the third time. While I cleaned up my child, she handed me the bill as if I was going to leave without paying. I had to tell her I will come up and pay for it when I was done. After paying she came our table and started throwing the dirty dishes around (we didn't even leave the table yet) and making as if my children made a mess (I picked up all the food off the ground and stacked our dishes). I was so upset after I left because I didn't say anything that I actually went back and told her how rude she was and she basically told me "no" and looked away from me. I'm mad at myself for tipping her but I'm not the type of person to not tip. I just won't eat here again and I would recommend takeout for a better experience. read more

Solid, average ramen with local-style plate lunches, but delicious nonetheless. The McDonald's of ramen. Convenient and easy to access location at the Hawaii Kai Towne Center. One of their main draws is their "combo sets." Very reasonable and affordable price gives you a lot of food: a bowl of ramen, an entree, four pieces of gyoza and a drink. I've tried their fried rice, katsu curry and gyoza along with their standard ramen with won ton. Decent food that hits the spot. read more

Vegetarians beware, I ordered ma po tofu and was clear to request it vegetarian. It had pieces of meat in it. Returned for refund.

All of the ramen is very good! My husband likes to order the combo dish which comes with a small ramen, 4 gyoza, and one (selected) entree. He can never finish all of it because the portions are very generous. I like the seafood crispy noodles or their fried noodles if I'm not eating a ramen. We like it so much we go there at least twice a month....sometimes more. read more

Chose Ramen Ya for tonight's dining spot. The service is really bad. We sat for 30 minutes before greeted and order taken. The prep of our meals was no more then 5 minutes to make and we literally had to stand up and ask for anything the order was missing. Won't be eating here again. read more

With so many ramen places popping up, it's hard to give them more stars when you compare them. But if you want a basic ramen, they will fit the bill. However, one thing that is pretty good is the Gyoza. Bonus, between 2-5pm, free gyoza with your ramen. If my 9 year old son was writing this review, it would definitely be 5 stars. He loves their shrimp fried rice and gyoza. Bonus, the shrimp fried rice is on the kids menu! What a deal! So if you have kids, bring them here......they will love it. read more

I really want to like this place more. 1. It is right by where I live 2. I remembered when it first opened and thought it would be great to have a good Ramen at Hawaii Kai Town Center. I have been here two times and each time a walk away with a "meh" feeling. The staff is great, they are always helpful and take the time to talk to my children when I bring them in. It simply boils down to the food - it all sort of tastes the same. I first time i went here I tried their Miso Ramen - the soup broth is OK but there is nothing unique in the flavor. The noodles were a little too soft in texture. Well sometimes the first visit isn't always the best, so I thought I would come back again and try a different dish. The second time I decided to try the fried rice, my son have the Combo A, small Miso Ramen, Gyoza and Mochiko Chicken. Gotta be honest the Mochiko Chicken looked great and so did the Gyoza. The Fried Rice and Ramen not so much. Well, the Ramen tasted the same, the fried rice was lacking. When I compare their fried rice to other restaurants, it comes up a little short. The Mochiko chicken was golden brown and cooked through - but it just had a layer of oil on it that basically killed any taste of the chicken or seasoning. I even tried more that one thinking maybe it was just the one I tried initially that was oily and flat tasting. The Gyoza - crispy on the outside but again - the flavor was just OK. It had some pork but a lot of cabbage. So basically I felt like I was eating cabbage. Would I give it another try? I am not sure....If I was just rating the staff I would give it 3 stars - but I can't get passed the quality of the food. read more

Out here in Hawaii Kai, the food scene has been a little stale. We haven't really had a lot of new places open. For so many months we anxiously awaited the opening of Ramen-ya. The sign was up for so long, it felt like it was taking forever for it to finally open. I had heard from others they they really liked it so I was jazzed to try it out. I went on a Saturday at about 1pm and waited only 5 minutes for a table. The restaurant has a decent amount of tables. The decor was was very warm and looked pretty fancy for a ramen shop. Service was prompt and attentive. No problems there. Between the three of us, we ordered the Combination Set A (mini ramen bowl, fried rice, 4 pc. gyoza), a curry ramen, and a won ton ramen. The portions here are very large. If you have a big appetite, you will be thrilled. Taste wise, their food is OK. For some reason, I feel like the soups were all kind of watered down. I also had to put shoyu on the fried rice, something I never do. The flavor was not as good as some of our other favorite ramen places. Also, hubby said he thought the noodles were a tad overcooked. All in all it was a good lunch and I would go back the next time I an jonesing for ramen and don't want to leave the neighborhood. read more

This is my first review, so please bear with me. Don't get me wrong, living in Hawaii Kai is GREAT! I love everything about it and regardless of what some people may say the people are great too! That said, "UGH!" comes to mind when I think of our dismal eatery offerings and Ramen Ya is just another in a line of many. We were so anxious for it to open. "YAY, finally another place to eat, and ramen at that." Months passed and finally it opened! We went to eat there the week it opened, for lunch, waiting for a seat with all the other anxious and delighted people. There was no indication of how their waiting list worked. Was there a pager? Ticket number? List to sign in? What's happening? I finally decided to ask the cashier. As I was waiting in that line, a waiter came up to me and asked "how many people?". I said three. He grabbed menus and was ushering us toward a table. We sat down and started looking at our menus, but I noticed there was some uncomfortable activity going on behind us. Well, apparently, we weren't the next people in line. The waiter had jumped the gun and sat us before another party. Instead of apologizing to the other party and promising the next available table and possibly some free gyoza, WE were asked to get out of our seats and go sit at the counter because this wasn't our table. GRRRRRR!!! I was pretty sure smoke could be seen billowing out of my ears from miles away. HOW INCREDIBLY RUDE!!!! I felt for the other party because NO ONE likes to be "cut" in front of, but my friends and I were so embarrased. What was worse was the other party gave us "stink eye". Okay, now I'm not feeling so sorry for you! It definitely wasn't our doing! We decided to stay anyway. We ordered food: 2 char siu ramen, seafood ramen, and shrimp fried rice. The food was actually pretty good. The ramen had nice flavor and the fried rice was seasoned just right. Okay, the food made the experience much better. This took place in December of 2011. We went back a few months ago and it was really bad. The food was NOTHING like that first time we ate there. The soup base was watered down, the fried rice had seasoning here and there, and the gyoza was slightly burned. Now, when I say "here and there" for the fried rice, I mean it literally. Putting a spoonful in my mouth I could literally taste the seasoning in one clump of rice and nothing in another clump. And that went on for the next few spoonfuls. YIKES! My husband and I have decided that Tokyo Noodle House is even better than Ramen Ya. At least they're consistent with their flavoring. It may not be as good as say Gomaichi, but it's still way better than Ramen Ya. read more

Pretty awesome chicken katsu curry...especially for the price! The ramen tho...didn't have flavor for some reason? One day I visited this location at lunch and the food was soo tasty!! The gyoza was garlicky and the best I ever ate...I probably could have eaten 20 of them. The chicken katsu was so crispy and perfect. Last night the gyoza was al-right (but not the same as before) and the katsu was good. Not so sure about the rice bc it wasn't cooked all the way through I think. So 4 stars seems fitting...ok next. read more

My husband and I went to lunch at Ramen Ya yesterday with our 15 month old son in tow. This was the our first time there. I was immediately greeted when I stepped inside and seated as it was not very busy. Their menu was very simple. My husband ordered a combo that came with a small bowl of Shoyu Ramen, Fried Rice and 4 pieces of Gyoza. I ordered something quite different because it was something you normally wouldn't see on a ramen restaurant menu - Mapo Tofu Ramen. Our order came pretty quick and was piping hot as it should be. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty my ramen was! The mapo tofu was really good and it paired very well with the ramen. It wasn't overly spicy and the flavor was just right for it to be in ramen! You'd think the ramen soup would have diluted the taste, but it didn't. I enjoyed eating it. I recommend they make the Mapo Tofu Ramen their signature ramen. The service was quick and efficient, and the ambience was family friendly. Our baby was hollering for more noodles from us, but the staff didn't seem bothered by his loud babblings. The only reason I didn't give a higher rating is that the seat belt buckle high chair my son was sitting in was torn off so we couldn't buckle him in. read more

Ramen-Ya - Mapo Tofu Ramen at Ramen-Ya. I really think it should be their signature ramen. - Ramen Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

After reading the review for this place, I was a little skeptical. I guess this joint is a "love it or hate it" kind of place. I, for one, fall into the "love it" category. This ramen establishment is a simple, nothing flashy kind of place. If you're looking for a broth that has an authentic taste and richness like Goma Tei, this is not the place for you. But, if you're looking for a clean, quick, and budget friendly place to eat, this is the place for you. For starters, I love their menu sets. Their sets run at $8.95 which is awesome! Set A comes with a mini fried rice, mini shoyu ramen, and 4 piece gyoza. The mini fried rice is huge and the gyozas are a good size too! My friend fed herself and her hungry toddler, and still had to take home left overs. Set B comes with a mini curry instead. I got the pork fried rice for $7.95 and this too was heaping! I only could finish half of it. I like pouring the gyoza sauce over the fried rice. It really kicks it up a notch. And they serve the ginger separately and they give quite a bit. Service was quick and friendly. This is a simple ramen eating place. I wasn't expecting anything more. It's a great value as long as you know what you are getting yourself into. It was nice to have our bill come out to $20 for a meal for 3. That is rare these days. I would come back here again since it's easy on the wallet. Plus I can hit up Ross' after, too while I'm at it. read more

It wasn't too long ago that RAMEN YA had it's grand opening in one of the local Mall areas in Hawaii Kai, right next to where I live...Being a big fan of Ramen since my college days and visiting many Ramen Houses on Oahu, I was surprised it took me this long to get over here for the first time. I have been to the one in Pearl City several times, but knowing this one was in my backyard I knew if this was a good meal it would be the first of many to come. First, the bills at Noodle houses are usually low and your bellies end up usually full...this place was no different. For two people we had enough for four....and at a total bill of $30.00...You really can't beat that and the left over's...plenty of them. We had a pretty good array of dishes and combo plates and everything was great. My favorite out of all the dishes was my Seafood Ramen Soup dish. It had a great kick to hit, plenty of noodles, veggies and a reasonable amount of Shrimp and Squid. The BROTH was reasonably good in taste. I WAS VERY HAPPY....There are great combo plates and great ramen plates with some awesome sides you can get. The tempura Shrimp was a great combo I teamed up with my Ramen dish...at least for me. The atmosphere was inviting and it was a good size noodle house...the staff was nice and reasonably attentive, but there are no bathrooms and you must go out side and around the corner to use one. Not a big deal...but worth mentioning. For me when it comes to a noodle house I think of the following 3 things.... Does it deliver on quantity...YES! Does it deliver on quality...YES! Does it deliver on price for the Quantity and Quality...YES! Service is a deciding factor and it was decent...but I came her for Cheap eats and plenty of them and I got that here at Ramen Ya. *Some people enjoy pulling small Noodle houses like this a part because they are STUCK up NOODLE HEADS...Some people b@tch about the taste of the broth, the service, about not enough noodles, others will b@tch that the Noodles are too soft or too firm...o come on...please...ARE YOU F$%^ING SERIOUS PEOPLE? Someone even mentioned they expected RICH and COMPLEX FLAVORS for a $7.00 Bowl of Ramen....WTF, REALLY? If that's true I got a RICH and COMPLEX BOWL of something for you kid! Yeah...I guess you just can't make anyone happy in this privileged NEW SOCIETY we live in...Where everyone owes us everything for nothing... For a place that a few 2 star reviewers call "TASTELESS" this place is pretty packed and doing pretty well...so that pretty much confirms these crack head reviews...FAIL! I have been a Chef for 20 years...I know what taste is and what it isn't....Now this wasn't the best tasting broths I had or food, but LISTEN...I'M PAYING $7-9 for this stuff...O and by the way...IT DID HAVE TASTE and was well worth what I paid!!! I state it like it is. always have...You get what you pay for here at RAMEN YA...BOTTOM LINE PEOPLE, now get your noodle out of your A$$ and move on!!! read more

Decent food, large portions, fast service I'm now a regular at this place. If you're a ramen connoisseur, look elsewhere, you will be disappointed. If, however, you want large portions of decent food served quickly? Then this is your place. Personally I like the mochiko chicken - it's the thing I always order when I'm here. I would say 90% of the time it would be the combo with ramen, mochiko chicken, and gyoza. I can split the combo with my daughter, she has the ramen and I eat the mochiko chicken and it'll be enough. My wife likes the fried rice (chahan) she tells me it reminds her of the the small ramen shop chahan back in her childhood home in Tokyo. I also like the yakisoba. Let me add that the portions for the fried rice and yakisoba are huge - can't complain about leaving this place hungry. Finally, I believe they do not use any MSG - no leaving this place with puffy hands or burning thirst either. read more

Worst customer service. I ordered 3 items: Mapo Tofu Ramen, Chicken Katsu Ramen with Katsu on the side, Chicken Katsu Curry Rice, and 6 piece gyoza. When I got home, they had given me a chicken fried rice. I specifically had the woman repeat my order over the phone so that there would be no confusion. When I called them back to report the incorrect order, they kept telling me that I had ordered incorrectly and it took 5 minutes to get my point across. They told me to bring the fried rice back and they would give me a side of chicken Katsu curry, but I told them no because I wanted my correct order that comes with rice. When I returned to the store, I was met with hostility from the workers when I requested that they open the container in front of me to make sure it had chicken Katsu curry with rice. If there was a no star option, that's what I would give this place. read more

Just left a few minutes ago so here we go: Service: Although the place was really busy, we grabbed seats pretty quickly. Immediately after sitting down, we were given menus and then asked if we needed drinks, then asked are we ready. In that order. I would suggest that the servers wait a few minutes to let a person get settled down before asking if we're ready to order. We literally sat down and were asked if wanted to order. After ordering drinks, another server came in and asked if we were ready to order or if we wanted drinks. When we were finally ready to order, it took a while to actually get our order in. The food came out staggered, the gf's gyoza, then mines, then the fried rice then my ramen. After waiting a few minutes, the gf's ramen finally came out. Food: We ordered the curry ramen, 2 orders of gyoza, side of fried rice and a shoya ramen. The gf liked the curry soup base but thought the actual noodles were a little too chewy. I thought the ramen was more like Chinese style noodles. I did like the fact that the gyzoa was very fresh. I mean, you can taste the crunch of the veggies in the filling. I really liked their fried rice and I can't wait to try their rice plates. Getting the bill: it was kind of confusing (for them not us) since they sat another person at our table. The bill came out and the worker gave it to the wrong person. Even after telling the server that it was our bill, she still insisted on checking the bill over and over again. lol. It's okay though, better to be safe than sorry. Over all, I think it was great for a grand opening, and they have a few hiccups here an there. Other than that, I'll be back and i'm glad there's a new restaurant out here. Total price for one regular shoyu ramen, 2 side orders of gyoza (8 pieces), mini fried rice plate (huge by the way) and one mini curry ramen = $22.00 with tip. Pretty good price if you ask me! read more

Don't be fooled by others' reviews. If you want real ramen don't come here. Nearly every review that gives high marks posits some sort of "bang for your buck" argument, which is a polite way of saying "it sucks but it's cheap." The ramen here tastes like if you added your own cooked meat at home to your favorite instant ramen pack. If you need to feed your family for cheap -- then you can come here and join the company of everyone else who loves big portions before anything else. Bottom line is if you like good flavors this place is a 2/5, if you just want to stuff your face and get full with depressingly soulless ramen, then it's a 7/5. Happy eating folks. read more

Very helpful and courteous service. Food portions are always great for the price and we are able to share quite a bit. One order feeds at least two people in our family. I got the Mapo Tofu over rice (of course, see my list: http://www.yelp.com/list/mabo-mapo-tofu-hunt-honolulu). It was just the right amount of everything; garlic, chili, pork, and tofu. The sauce was delicious. It's also on the menu as the traditional ramen or udon offerings, but I always like mine over rice. It was also too much for me to eat in one sitting, so I took the rest home for lunch the next day. My family split the popular Combo A, which had a mini fried rice, mini ramen, and some gyoza. The fried rice here is always great. The mini is a good sized portion by itself. The beef stew curry here is also ono, so if you're in the mood, try it! Here's a tip: order the Chicken Katsu Ramen with the katsu on the side, then you don't have to pay for a side of katsu chicken... Works great for sharing with the family. read more

This was our frequent location as it's the closest to us. After covid hit we didn't get to go as often, tonight we went and got such bad service we walked out. She asked for our vaccination card or negative covid test which we provided and was still within the 48hr mark. Because we wasn't vaccinated she became VERY RUDE to us. My husband showed his, when it came to me I showed it to her I didn't want to cause a scene for such negative attitude. She checked my results & ID and said OK loudly I asked nicely if she needed to check anything else - she needed to see the date, name & results (had to zoom in as it is small writing) she raised her voice and said NO GO SIT DOWN at that very moment I looked at my husband and he already knew I wanted to say something so he said you don't wanna eat here anymore do you, I said nope she's very rude they ain't getting my business ! So my lady friend and I were in the area looking for sushi when I mentioned to her that I had never had ramen other than cup-o-noodles. She obviously informed me that this situation was unsatisfactory. We stumbled upon Ramen-Ya. Now whether its the .50 cent cup or the real deal, I love me some ramen and I'm a firm believer that the broth makes the ramen. That being said I was expecting a vast array of different broths to choose from, as was my girlfriend. We ordered 2 ramen bowl combos which consisted of a mini ramen bowl, 4 gyoza, and a side order. I had fried rice and my girlfriend got the mini chicken katsu curry. The chicken katsu curry was above average. It was actually a decent size piece of chicken instead of something so thin you feel like you're just eating greasy fried breading. The curry was rich and very flavorful and not something out of a can. The fried rice was exceptional. I would have been content with just eating a plate of that and some chicken katsu. The gyoza were surprisingly good, I was expecting them to be bland and tasteless. So far, so good right? Now to the ramen bowl. The whole reason we came here in the first place. The broth was mediocre at best. I couldn't even tell what flavor it was supposed to be. And their noodles were "plasticky" as my girlfriend explained. A pretty sub par bowl, I left there wanting to purchase some cup of noodles. My girlfriend explained that it was sub par and she would be finding another place to take me to to try it again. The amount of food that we got for $18 was astonishing. Seriously we could have gotten one combo and probably not finish it. We took home a lot which is fine with me. All in all I had to give them a 3 based on their mediocre ramen which should be the best thing on the menu if its in the name of your restaurant. read more

If you live in Hawaii and you have family that want to come out and visit you, and you want to make sure they never visit you again, by all means, bring them here at Ramen-Ya. I was planning to do some grocery shopping at Costco and decided to come eat here before doing so since I am in the same shopping center. I was craving ramen but my favorite ramen joint is closer to the Honolulu Zoo and that was a bit of a drive. Also, they say don't go grocery shopping hungry, this is true. I become very naughty and buy very fattening non good things when grocery shopping hungry. When I came in it was swarming with people. It was so ridiculously loud. There were 3 girls waiting before me. Than came in a couple in their mid 40's. Very rude, shoved right by me without saying excuse me (that happens a lot you will find in Hawaii Kai). The wife seems drunk, either that or she's just has a very way out there personality and is extreme clumsy. She grabbed a whole stack of menus and dropped one on the back of my foot. I took a step to the side and the menu laid on the floor longer than I expected.I wondered if they just didn't realize it was dropped. I was about to pick it up when I notice they were staring at me. Both of them just staring at me and than the wife drops to the floor saying, "Well I guess I'll pick it up." OOOOOH, YOU GUESS SO? What, you dropped a menu on my foot and than waited to see if I would pick it up? You actually waited? If I dropped anything my first reaction is to drop down and pick it up, not expect someone else to do it for me! A woman came over and said who is first. I pointed at the group of girls and she walked them over to a table. She came back and said, "Table for 3?" I said no it's them two and I'm by myself. The host said, "Oh than you can just sit over in the corner", waved her hand and proceeded to take the couple to the table in which the 40 something year old woman who dropped the menu chuckled at that and walked off. Oh , so you just shoo me and not even walk me to my seat and hand me a menu? I sat there alone for 10 minutes, waiting while everyone else was helped and eventually a waitress said, "Oh, forgot about you, what you want?" I requested a water and a ramen miso soup and asked if it could be made spicy. She nodded yes and walked away. It took her 10 minutes to bring me water, 10 minutes! There was 3 waitresses and in those 10 minutes 2 of them weren't doing anything. Forgot about me again. They brought out my food really quick which made me question how much time and effort they put in this food. The ramen looked like they sprinkled peprika in it to make it spicy. The falvor tasted weird and pasty. Not to mention they gave me a huge ladle spoon which was odd to me. The chop sticks are terrible! So thin and break off easy and not well. Had to go through 3 different types. There was a group of kids next to me at the bar and the waitress asked that group 3 times if they needed refills on their water and never asked me and my water was empty. Even asked them if they were doing okay, never once asked me. After eating terrible food, enduring terrible service I paid my bill and left in a hurry. Didn't want to leave a tip but I'm not a savage so I left one anyways. When I got home after grocery shopping I felt sick. (WARNING, NEXT SENTENCE IS A TAD GRAPHIC) My urine became neon yellow. I had no idea why. I know it was caused by their food because it was the only thing I had eaten all day. I work night shifts so I wake up during noon and typically don't have time to eat breakfast. I read other reviews of other people claiming to be sick from here. I usually like to test places myself before judging by other reviewers but I should have listened. Bad place, don't come here. Plenty of other amazing ramen places. They are worth the drive if you want to avoid this place! read more

Ramen-Ya in Hawaii Kai is very lucky that they have a very convenient and visible location. The food is just below decent, they have an extensive menu, but the food itself lacks authentic taste and flavor. Their gyoza is probably the strong suit, which is funny because most gyoza in Hawaii falls apart, but Ramen Ya has firmer gyoza. I go here because it's a close place with ramen, especially after a horrifically crowded shopping experience at Costco. Sometimes you're just hungry and will eat whatever is close by. Their ramen noodles are usually mushy and overlooked, and I usually order their spicy seafood champon, which sometimes has an unidentified fish filet. Rather mysterious. The food is not the problem however, it is the service. I often find the staff to be rude and unfriendly. It takes about ten minutes to flag the staff down for a class of water, but they are very eager to take your order...hmm...it's the type of place where they throw the menu on the table rather than give it to you in your hands. The joint is not very small, it's decently sized, so I don't understand how there can be a lack of customer interest as opposed to much bigger establishments with much better service. I have given them two stars only because of its convenient location. The food is unimpressive and the service is unprofessional and uncomfortable. read more

Food: (2 stars) The curry is bland and watery. I was hoping for rich and complex flavors, but was disappointed. I could have had better from a pre packaged meal from safeway. The ramen base is mediocre, and the gyoza is forgettable. In fact, the Gyoza tastes like all the gyoza you get from the frozen foods section. Service: (4 stars) I was seated immediately, and the restaurant was well stocked with people. Notes: I wouldn't go back there. There are better ramen choices of a higher quality. read more

First time at this location and I thought I'd be treated like a person instead of an object. Absolutely no personality from the waist staff. And not to mention the Ramen wasn't worth the money at all!! When I was greeted and asked for my order, the waitress rushed me through my ordering, then I never saw her until she arrived with the bill. The other servers dropped off my food...not at all asking if I was okay during my meal! Gome Tei, you have my business. And still waiting for a Daichi Ramen location to open on the east side you guys are the best! Ramen Ya! What a waste of money! And a disgrace for this establishment to be in Hawaii Kai! Last time this I come here! read more

As we all know, I love pho. But now and then the ramen frenzy does occur, as it did last night. I like Ramen-Ya for their prices and kick ass curry ramen. For $8.95 I can get Combo A which comes with a mini bowl of curry ramen, 4 pieces of gyoza, and a side dish. And the side dish is pretty big. Last night I got mochiko chicken and it came with a pile of rice and mac salad. How do people eat all this?? All I gotta say is todays leftovers were for lunch and mmmm was it good! read more

Ramen-Ya - Mini curry ramen and mochiko chicken - Ramen Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

Came in for a late lunch and decided on the Vegetable ramen and Tan tan Ramen with pork fried rice. The taste of the Vegetable Ramen was delicious and I finished the entire bowl and left feeling fine. However, several hours later my stomach started feeling really terrible with the classic signs of food poisoning. (bloating, fatigue, intense stomach cramps) I tried everything to feel better; drank a large cup of water and even walked around the block hoping that the pain would dissipate. I went to bed still having the uncomfortable feeling in my stomach but hoped that the sleep would help. I was wrong. I woke up at 2 in the morning with a really intense headache and had to throw up. Needless to say I didn't get much sleep last night and am really unhappy to realize that the ramen broth that this place uses is overflowing with MSG!!!! Do not go here you will get sick and get intense migraines, their soup broth is made with low quality ingredients, Please, if I could I would go back in time and slap the **** out of myself for even stepping foot into this restaurant, I totally would! (I haven't felt this sick since I don't know when, I have extreme sensitivity to MSG!) STAY AWAY!!! read more
