Chicken Katsu Curry, Curry Ramen, Black Garlic Ramen, and side order mochiko chix
    John N.

This is the most reliable/consistent Ramen Place in Hawaii Kai. Always good service and food. Chicken Katsu Curry has thick pieces with a nice crunch and they give a lot of it (8/10). The Curry Ramen is always good, no explanation needed (9/10). The Black Garlic ramen, little bit on the weak side, but had great flavor if that makes any sense (7/10). The Mochiko Chicken (7/10) cooked well and crunchy but not much mochiko flavor. Like a fried chicken, maybe just say it's a fried chicken. The curry is 9/10, not so spicy and the flavor is great. Overall, great place to come over and over again to.

Tabemashou. Let's eat. This place is a quick stop for a good ramen. Not the best ramen in town but it's pretty good to warm your tummy and still bring a smile to your face. We got Tan Tan ramen, shoyu ramen and gyozas. The combination of ramen with gyoza is delightful. I know many of you would agree ;) We didn't order this time but their oyster fry is so delicious too! A must have but because we had our sweets before our meal, we were pretty stuffed by this time. lol If you have time and in the area, come visit the Ramen-Ya in Hawaii Kai. The lady who takes our order is always so nice. I'll definitely find out her name on our next visit. ;)

Heyo Yelpers! This is a review for Ramen-Ya Hawaii Kai. Located by T-Mobile and Ross! We came around 5:30, my niece and I. The place was almost full but luckily we quickly got a table. It seemed like nobody had to wait or at least wait long for a seat which is a plus. The service was very quick, we were in and out in around 40 mins! The food also came out quick! On a hungry stomach this is always something I love! Onto the food: Ramen-Ya has been a lovely place to me for a while. I always enjoyed the shrimp fried rice! This is a dish I could eat forever! The flavor is wonderful and I adore their fried rice! Definitely something to try! I would also like to mention that their gyoza is splendid! A great side to order!

It was raining and decided to do a quick lunch before a Costco run. I've never been to a Ramen-Ya before and was curious to try it out. Ordered the black garlic ramen and combo set A (4 piece gyoza, pork fried rice and mini ramen). When reviewers say the food was mediocre - understatement. I couldn't identify what flavors were in the ramen broth for the black garlic and the mini. All I could say was that the broth had salt. No black garlic flavor. The toppings were not memorable. Pork fried rice was completely unremarkable and could have been reheated frozen fried rice in terms of taste and value. Gyoza also unremarkable. I dont think price points justify the food either. I probably wouldn't go back. Service was good but the place was pretty empty.

Most of the east side has been without power for over 4 and a half hours. The latest HECO estimate has power not coming on for another two hours (which probably means 6). Bro decided to take a chance and drive to see if anyone was open. Thank goodness for Ramen-Ya! We don't go very often, but based on our experience today, we will definitely be back more often! Y'all, these folks stayed open until it was too dark for them to keep cooking...long after everyone else had closed. Not only were they open, they were super thankful people braved the crap weather to come out. Bro witnessed a real act of kindness from the staff when an older gentleman who is a regular came in, unaware that they were operating cash only. They recognized him and told him he could come back tomorrow and pay them. Our food was perfect. Yeah, we could have scraped up a meal, but we were very happy to throw some business to some really kind, hard-working folks who actually care.

Hey if Chinese food disguised as ramen is your thing, then stop on by to Ramen-ya. Maybe it's just me, but I never thought it was great here. A good value, yes. But don't expect anything authentic or overly tasty. It's fast food, and boy is it fast. When I stopped in for lunch, there was no wait, which is always great. There's a good amount of seating here and the dining area seems clean. The service was very friendly and attentive. Water came and was refilled quickly. The servers weren't pushy, but got our order quickly and correctly. I ordered the set B with fried rice. It comes with pan fried gyoza and a mini won ton soup. The gyoza wrapper was a little bit thick/chewy. Filling just ok. Won ton soup had 2 pieces of lean chashu and about 5 wontons each with about a teaspoon of filling. Fried rice was ok, but not my favorite. Bottom line, I'd really like to like Ramen-Ya. It's close and reasonable, but I just don't.

I usually eat at the Ramen-Ya in Pearl City and I absolutely love it! I decided to eat here since it's in the same shopping complex as Costco. I figured if I like the Pearl City one, I'll like this one but I was wrong. The food was lacking flavor. The gyozas tasted as if they were out and old. The curry was very subpar and the rice was mushy. I'm giving it a star for the kind and quick service. If I eat Ramen-Ya, I'll make sure to go to the Pearl City one.

    Gyoza Happy Hour 2-5pm

Ramen-Ya is not in my neighborhood but we are happy to drive a little out of our way for the gyoza happy hour. Everyday from 2-5 pm get a 4pc. order of gyoza with every entree order. And, the gyoza is pretty good! I love a freebie. The seafood crispy noodle is our favorite there. It's tasty and huge. I usually take home quite a bit of it. I love a good value too! Looks like they've added some new ramen - black garlic, tonkotsu and paitan. We need to try these next time!

Perfect place for dining with kids. Most kids love noodles, fried rice, and chicken katsu. Ramen-ya has it all, and the portions are very generous. Note - this is not an authentic Japanese ramen-ya, but, the food tastes great, and you will get your money's worth. My son and I shared one of their three item combos that came with ramen, fried rice, and gyoza. It was A LOT of food for the two of us! We ended up taking more than half of the fried rice and a couple of pieces of gyoza home. My friend could barely finish the cold noodle plate. The food comes out quick and service is friendly.

My uncle wanted to grab lunch here before we flew home. Plenty of parking. We were the only ones there. Fast service and big portions. They got some interesting combos for a pretty good deal. We ordered: Chasu: 3/5 salty and plain Tonkatsu: 3/5 salty, come with a hard boiled egg Black garlic: 4/5 most flavorful of the three. Gyoza: 4/5 not bad Mochiko chicken: aunty likes this but I didn't try it.

My daughter and I like to order the Shiro Wagaya Ramen and my husband loves the Garlic Wagaya (Kuro) ramen. We also like to order the corn tempura as an appetizer. You can also order your food through a QR code and pay online when you're done. There are also restrooms onsite. Parking is still small and can fill up when it's busy (you also aren't allowed to park in the Church parking lot) If you haven't eaten here before, I would suggest looking on their website at the waitlist to see how many people are on there prior to going there as they can get really busy. You can also put your name on the waitlist online so you don't have to do it on site. They have a really good text messaging system letting you know when your table is almost ready.

The most impressive part of the night was the reaction from my two daughters. They are typically very picky eaters, but they completely devoured the Tokyo Chicken ramen. My wife and I were just as impressed with our Spicy Tonkatsu and regular Tonkatsu bowls. The broth was remarkably rich and packed with complex flavors, while the chashu was a savory burst in every single bite. I live right near Little Tokyo in Los Angeles and have very high standards for what makes a good bowl of ramen, so I was honestly blown away by the quality here. The kids were so into the food that we even decided to grab an order of chicken karaage to go. The service was exceptionally attentive and the staff went out of their way to ensure our family had everything we needed. The ambiance was also fantastic and added to the overall experience.
