Beef curry

It was a flavorful combo with a great balance of rich curry, comforting ramen, and gyoza.

Stopped in for a quick bite and was seated right away. Clean, bright dining area, lots of people coming in for take out orders. Lots of options available if you don't want to eat ramen on a hot day. Daily specials are about $12.99, and menu items are about $13.99-$16. Give it a try if you're in the area!

Whenever I need a reliable, fast, inexpensive meal, I come here on Sundays for the Chicken Katsu Curry Rice + 4 Gyoza special. All this food is only $12.99 and lasts me multiple meals. I've only done take out, but the service is always fast and friendly. You can check their website for other $12.99 daily specials (which rotate daily).

We have been going to Nishi Moncho in Manoa Marketplace for a while! Located near Coffee Bean, Nishi Moncho is a small to medium sized Japanese restaurant. There are a few tables inside but not a ton of seating. The service is consistently efficient. Orders can be taken at the counter after walking straight into the restaurant. There is parking at the front of the restaurant in the marketplace. We got set C, gomoku tofu yakisoba, and the mabo eggplant rice. Set C was good -- the katsu was crispy, the gyoza was tasty, and the fried rice was a good balance of flavor without being too oily. Their gyoza is one that I especially enjoy! There was also a good portion of everything. The yakisoba was also a good portion and tasty. The same could be said of the mabo eggplant. The price of each dish seems reasonable, especially with the portions. Every time we have been, the food has been consistent. There has never been a time when we have felt the food has changed drastically or dropped in quality. Definitely coming back!

Seafood Ramen ($14.50)

Hm...this restaurant has ramen in its name, but I'm confused why after trying out their ramen. Located in the same plaza as Safeway and Long's Drugs. I love ramen so was hyped to see a ramen shop here. Seafood Ramen | $14.50 Ramen with shrimps, scallop, squid, and vegetables. This dish came with 3 shrimps, 2 tiny scallops, and a few curls of squid. The shrimp was good, the scallops were small and rubbery, and the squid was very chewy. Veggies were chopped up pieces of a long leafy vegetable and carrots. All of the inclusions were immersed in a thick cornstarch-y gravy on top of the ramen. The noodles were soggy and overcooked. They didn't seem like ramen noodles - more like a Chinese style egg noodle gravy dish. There was a separate container of soup, but that soup was salt heaven. So so incredibly salty I couldn't fathom pouring it into my "ramen". Portion was also on the smaller side, so not the best if you're hungry looking to get full on one entree. Overall this is not a good Japanese ramen shop. The food seems more like Chinese-Hawaiian style cooking. Make sure to come with the right expectations if you do stop by here. Unfortunately I would not come here again for any type of ramen.

We used to come here all the time when the kid went to the neighborhood school and he participated in community sports at the Manoa Valley District Park. We come so often that he knows his usual is Combo Set A (mini ramen + mini fried rice + gyoza). For me, I know their fried rice (regular char siu fried and shrimp fried rice) are consistent in taste and quality. It has a nice slightly wok-charred flavor. Their gyoza is house-made and really tasty. The proportion of filling to skin may not be as generous as some places but it's actually a good size-- not too big, not too small. I think their chicken katsu and chicken katsu curry are pretty good too, but they're better when you eat in. During the pandemic they've accommodated my request a couple of times to use my takeout bentos. (Because they use flimsy clamshell-type plastic containers that don't close.) It's a neighborhood eatery with reasonable prices for their portions. For these reasons, don't expect fine dining service or ambience.

Great option after tennis in Manoa! One of few restaurants open until 9 in the area. Very extensive menu I had trouble picking just one thing for dinner! Always a sucker for a deal, I went with the daily special which was chicken katsu curry rice and gyoza. I always go for curry, and the special came with 4 free gyoza. The service was fast and friendly and the food was hot and fresh. Very generous portion of chicken katsu and rice with the curry sauce on the side. The gyoza sauce was a bit bland (tasted like almost pure shoyu) as well as the curry (I wanted more flavor), but the chicken katsu was crispy and fresh. I would def go back to try more items since they have a mapo eggplant rice that looked good.

The best thing on the menu! Shio Udon.

It was just ok. Ordered curry udon which was not bad. The gyoza wasn't good at all. The shoyu ramen and curry Katsu chicken were ok.

My daughter and I like to order the Shiro Wagaya Ramen and my husband loves the Garlic Wagaya (Kuro) ramen. We also like to order the corn tempura as an appetizer. The restaurant itself is not so big but fits quite a good amount of people. The workers are very friendly and accommodating. You can also order your food through a QR code and pay online when you're done. There are also restrooms onsite. Parking is still small and can fill up when it's busy (you also aren't allowed to park in the Church parking lot) If you haven't eaten here before, I would suggest looking on their website at the waitlist to see how many people are on there prior to going there as they can get really busy. You can also put your name on the waitlist online so you don't have to do it on site. They have a really good text messaging system letting you know when your table is almost ready.

Great for authentic ramen and tsukamen with a small, the intimate ramen shop appeal. I've seen…read moreWagaya on TikTok a lot recently and was happy that I put this on my list of places to visit while on the island. The appetizers were pretty good. I enjoyed the sweet and savory flavor of the agedashi tofu but was a little underwhelmed with the ahi belly. I was excepting a slightly fattier cut of fish and wasn't anticipating onion on the skewer and felt it didn't pair well with the fish (personally). I'll definitely be back!

The most impressive part of the night was the reaction from my two daughters. They are typically very picky eaters, but they completely devoured the Tokyo Chicken ramen. My wife and I were just as impressed with our Spicy Tonkatsu and regular Tonkatsu bowls. The broth was remarkably rich and packed with complex flavors, while the chashu was a savory burst in every single bite. I live right near Little Tokyo in Los Angeles and have very high standards for what makes a good bowl of ramen, so I was honestly blown away by the quality here. The kids were so into the food that we even decided to grab an order of chicken karaage to go. The service was exceptionally attentive and the staff went out of their way to ensure our family had everything we needed. The ambiance was also fantastic and added to the overall experience. Regarding parking, it can be tough in Waikiki, but we found a convenient public garage right next to the hotel where the restaurant is located. This spot is a must-visit for anyone looking for top-tier ramen in Honolulu.

You'll add yourself to the list. Varying from 20 minutes up to 45 minutes for a party of 4 or more. If you are patient, your tastebuds will certainly be rewarded. Consistency is key and Momosan puts this to practice day in day out. Attentive service, delicious food, great quality and a comfortable cozy dining experience. Outdoor seating allows you to enjoy the beauty of Waikiki beach. 8 years ago I brought my wife to our first taste of Momosan on a date, we were blown away by the flavors, freshness and quality of the ramen, the sashimi and the incomparable Sticky Ribs. Each and every visit has never failed to impress us still. To this day my kids now 12 am 14 years old, have added Momosan to their list of favorite restaurants.
